Oh my GOODNESS! Old Orange Cafe fits all expectations and more. To start with, the atmosphere. The building is near an art museum and is obviously older. It used to be a milk processing place back in the 1940's, but is now the Old Orange Cafe. The decor is cute and is good on the eyes. The staff are attentive and kind. The menu has lots of options, and everything, even the salad, is good. It sometimes has a 5 minute wait just due to the fact it's popular with the locals. 10/10, try this place if you haven't. read more

We took a couple of wrong turns trying to find Old Orange Cafe. The locals seem to have no such trouble finding the place judging by the buzz of lunchtime activity, and any frustrations yielded instantly to the charms of this old converted dairy building. Once seated I proceeded to get lost once again, this time my attention diverted to the historic information on the back of the menu. I'm sure there was plenty of good stuff on the pages in between but the chalkboard of daily specials told me everything I needed to know: Sauteed Snapper with Lemon Butter Sauce topped with Fried Shrimp. Served with rice pilaf, grilled veggies and a salad, this made for quite a substantial lunch. Around the table a Turkey Club, Main Street Salad and Shrimp Bisque all got thumbs-up. This small restaurant is located in an old dairy building. The lunch special was great. The fish had an awesome flavor and it was accompanied with veggies and a very healthy rice. They make most their dressing, complementing the freshly served salad. Please, do not leave without eating some dessert. If you are full, order it to go. It is well worth it. read more

Stopped in Orange on the way back to Houston to get out of traffic and the crazy rain. Yelped this little local joint. It is truly a small town cafe, visited with locals who we're leaving as we walked in...don't see that in the city! Lunch was a pulled pork sandwich on a jalapeño cheese bun with fresh Carolina-style slaw and spicy mayo. Also a shrimp "burger" which was really just a shrimp poboy on the same roll...nicely fried shrimp. Side of onion rings were worth the trip...big, oniony and piping hot! Great place to stop for lunch in Orange, TX. Restaurant is in an old dairy building and has many historical pictures of Orange. Very nice atmosphere and many locals were there for lunch. I had the shrimp burger, which was very good and it came on a wonderful jalapeno-cheese bun (if possible, ask for it on any sandwich, it was really good). I also had a piece of pie for dessert which was normal-sized and didn't make me feel like a fatty for having dessert at lunch. Very pleasant restaurant experience, pleased with both food and prices. Best burger evah!!!! We stop here when on our way to Texas. Its always packed and the service can take a few minutes (hence the 4 instead of 5 stars!) But the food is always good, well the burgers anyway I cant say anything about other items on the menu as I always ge the burger! Amazing! The diamond in the ruff of Orange Tx. Small little cafe in downtown Orange. A lot of local history displayed. Great atmosphere with 50s big bands playing on the radio. I had the Shrimp and grits. Off the chain good. Total flavor town. Salad was fresh and crispy. The bread pudding gave my mouth an orgasm. Simply awesome. Bang up job guys. Keep it up. My family and I consider it a treat to have Sunday brunch at Old Orange Cafe. They have staples such as chicken strips and pulled pork sandwiches which are family favorites. I love the specials which offer dishes that rival restaurants in New Orleans or Houston. Some of my favorites have been Migas and crawfish étouffée. The food deserves a 5 for sure, there is nothing I would change about the Fiesta Burger ($9) I ate in the restaurant or the Grilled Shrimp Salad ($12) that I ordered to go. What knocks this place down is the service I received. I noticed that the waitress was more friendly with other tables, perhaps they were local and were more familiar to her...but she never even offered me a refill on my water. Nevertheless, I can appreciate a tasty and satisfying meal. The Fiesta Burger is perfectly spicy and fresh with a hint of sweetness from the bun with an ample sized quality beef patty. The Grilled Shrimp Salad was filling, very filling with 6 huge well seasoned shrimp atop. The feta cheese and dressing compliment each other well and round this massive salad out to be one of the best I've had. I highly recommend Old Orange Cafe, perhaps even takeout if you're traveling like I was. But the service wasn't so bad that I didn't go back for more great good! Stopped here with my fiancé for lunch while driving from Houston to New Orleans. The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away, though there was a wait when we left. My fiancé ordered the chicken fried steak with a side of rice pilaf. This also came with a good sized side salad with choice of dressing. I ordered the special of the day, which was a steak and chicken chimichanga with Spanish rice and dessert. The chimi was actually better than ones I've had at some Mexican restaurants. The meats were seasoned well and the queso that was generously pours over the top was delicious. I saved some of the queso to mix with the rice and did not regret that decision. The chicken fried steak was well seasoned and very tender. For dessert, I had a chocolate chip and peanut pie, which was quite tasty and was just the right side to leave you wanting more but not feeling overly full. Old Orange Cafe is my favorite place to eat in Orange! Because they're only open for lunch during the week, I don't get there as often as I like. However, my hubster and I took his sister and nephew there when they visited, and a good time was had by all. Well my hubby and I heard great reviews about this cafe , so we went the other day , it's a small cafe kind of hard to find , it's very small , sever was not the best she messed up our drinks , food was pretty good , the restaurant itself looked rather dirty you didnt really noticed till you sat down , the floor around the grate was gross , window sill was dirty there was food under the tables , I'm not sure if it was just an off day for them or what but we won't be going back anytime soon read more

When I drove up to it I was kind of scared to go in, it's on a back street and looked a little scary since I was by myself! I had the Cajun shrimp with grilled vegetables mushrooms and onions on a bed of rice pilaf. It also came with a big salad! It was absolutely delicious, and would recommend this place to anyone! After reading previous reviews we thought we would stop by on our way home. It was a Sunday, not too busy at 11:25 when we arrived. We got two burgers and onion rings 45 minutes later. My husbands was just their regular burger, and mine the Fiesta. Mine was less than impressive. The patty was cooked great, but one large jalapeño fried, no real sauce on the bun, and cheese were all a let down. I guess I expected more. The onion rings were not hand battered as I expected either. Needless to say, it's off the beaten path, and we should have kept on driving weighing in the wait time too. Server was great though.
