Last minute Mothers Day plans with 7 people. We decided to give someplace different a try. The place was very welcoming with a log cabin appearance. Country atmosphere inside. The service was very good. Our waitress was friendly polite and attentive. We didn't see any Mothers Day information on their website so we were anticipating the regular menu. We were given a limited short menu with some decent looking selections. Drinks were good. The Bloody Mary was nice a spicy. The meal is where it went a little sideways. The seafood eggs Benedict was good but 3 of us had chickens and waffles. The chicken was cooked well with a nice panko crust. There was really no seasoning on it at all. It was bland. The waffles is something they need to completely rethink. All three orders of waffles were rock hard. I mean loud when banging on the plate hard. Told the waitress who was very polite about it. More waffles came out and were soft but not tasty at all. Honestly the worst waffles I ever had and I like waffles. We were told they were homemade but we all felt they were frozen and microwaved. Might be tough to convince the family to go back for the regular menu. Sad cause it was a nice place and only 30 minutes from home. read more

We made reservations at the The Promised Land Inn. When we arrived on last Friday evening, the restaurant was not full. The bar area was pretty rowdy and loud (someone was celebrating a birthday). They were having a great time. The hostesses / waitresses sat us in a larger booth at the back of the restaurant. We started with the Mozzarella Moons for our appetizer. These were good. A little heavy on the breading, but they had a good flavor. I liked the marinara sauce. For my main meal, I had the NY Strip Streak. I ordered a baked potato and it came with seasoned vegetables. The steak was cooked perfectly ( med rare). But, the steak was covered in a demiglaze sauce. The menu stated w/ garlic butter. The Demi had a good flavor, but not what I wanted that evening. Usually, I am pretty easy going, but restaurants that charge for the third refill on iced tea ( if there was a mention in the menu of only one free refill, then no issues), is pretty sad. I was also drinking coors light bottles. In addition, when you looked up at the light fixtures and air conditioning unit from our booth, they were filthy with a heavy covering of dust. They might want to clean them before the summer. At least the table and booth was clean. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant. read more

The décor is very interesting, like a hunting club with the stuffed fox, bobcat, and moose head hanging combined with a log cabin. Interior is pretty nice and fitting of the locale; typical brown shades, light and dark. There is a fireplace in the center, wonder if it gets used during winter months. The wait staff was nice, friendly, and patient, but the kitchen service was not very good. We had a party of nine but three four tops were fired and served well before we were. The menu looks more interesting than the food really is. Two of us had the elk burger and they came to us completely hammered and dry. My sister in law had a chicken sandwich that was over cooked and dry. I got the giant pretzel appetizer and that was good. The cheese and honey mustard went well. Fries are always tasty and they season theirs so that's a plus. One of us got the bougie grilled cheese and they said it was great. Two got the cornish game hens and I'm jealous I didn't get a meal instead. My wife had the chicken parm flatbread which she liked. Prices range from cheap to expensive which is cool; something for everyone. Drink selection is good too; beer prices aren't too bad. Overall not a bad place but some misses prevent it from being better than good. It's also quite far from me so dining here would have to be only for special occasions. read more

After 10 years of living in the area we have finally made our way in for a quick dinner. We both ordered the PLI burgers and were pleasantly surprised at how yummy it was. We also had the mozzarella appetizer which was super tasty. We were pleased at how pup friendly they were as we rarely make it out since we love having our pup as part of our family and don't like leaving him home alone. We will definitely be back again. Just had our first dinner there, and loved it. Our waitress was Sophia, and I'm fairly sure she is possibly the nicest waitress we have ever had, (anywhere!) The meal was fantastic. The chef's bread and butter was to die for. I had the BLT, and it was perfect. So much bacon, and really fresh veggies. It did not disappoint. My daughter had the chicken sandwich (Hen House), and loved it too. The chicken was nicely marinated, and not dry at all. The bun it came on was also very fresh. We overheard the waitress telling someone about the special crab bisque and of course we had to try it. 10 out of 10 would recommend it. Seriously I can't imagine how this place doesn't have all 5 star reviews. One of the best meals we have ever had in the Poconos. Looking forward to going back soon. read more

I wish I could review the food, atmosphere inside the place the service, quality of the beer selection or the speciality drinks. But I cannot. It's 12:23 on a Thursday and they aren't open. Now the sign out front says they open at 12. But, after arriving at 12 and sitting on the front deck area, no sign of life. Then at about 12:05 or so a Cinta truck pulls in. The driver goes around back. A few minutes later I see him putting a new rug out in the entryway. Surely someone is inside. So I call. No answer goes to voicemail. A few minutes later, a flash of light. The kitchen door swung open. Surely this is someone rushing to get open! No such luck. The putter around for two minutes then go back into the kitchen. It's now been 23 minutes. So I'm off. The exterior is nice from a distance. But, once you sit outside for over 20 minutes you notice the cob webs right at the entrance. We have visited this establishment 3 times. The food is good and we really like the beat salad. But you need to understand that it is a small place with a small staff. We go with family and are not in a hurry. If you want your main course in less than an hour when they are busy do not go. We had good conversation and drinks and did not mind the wait. But with only a few waitresses and I assume one cook things do not come out fast. So just chill and enjoy or pick another place. read more

What I said happened - we were served small drink cups and were most definitely charged for refills. There was a sign at the door explaining that because costs have gone up the restaurant prices had gone up. It was a bad experience. Maybe we will give it another try this summer. It looked like a beautiful place. We were seated quickly and the place filled up quickly. We ordered ribs, wings, and soup. - The French onion soup can out quickly and was very tasty. We then waited abut 40 plus minutes for our entrees to come out. - The wings were pretty good. Tasted great and were crispy. Not much sauce on them. Also two were stuck together and one was therefore undercooked. - And then there were the ribs. The order consisted of 4 huge ribs with a very thick coating of dry rub, so much so that we had to scrape it off. Unfortunately that wasn't the worse part - three of the ribs were cool to the touch and actually cold inside. The combination made them inedible. We had a fantastic dinner with wonderful service. We sat at the bar. We had the pulled pork flat bread and drinks to start. Sooooo good! Burger and grilled chicken were near flavorless and, and the burger had a slice of cheddar instead of the "white queso sauce" in the description. The burger itself was well done when I requested medium, yet ironically, the bacon on it was undercooked. Service was slow and not particularly accommodative, though the workers were polite. We went here today for a late lunch around three. We were seated in the corner by the bathroom, which I didn't understand since the place was empty. We were greeted and ordered our drinks and food. Everything came in a timely manner, except my father in law didn't get the chicken sandwich he ordered he received a beef dip Sandwich. The waitress acted like we messed up and not her. We decided t o keep the sandwich, instead of having my father in law watch us eat while he waited. The waitress didn't offer to take that off the bill or any kind of comp. The portions weren't that big considering a sandwich with fries is twenty dollars. The food was good, but I don't think I'll be back because of the poor service. read more

Highly recommend!! We dined here on a Sunday night a little before closing and received the best service. The food was amazing. Buffalo shrimp and mozzarella moons were so delish. We also had the ribs and filet which were so unbelievably tasty. The ribs have a rub on them that's to die for. The filet had a nice char and was cooked to perfection. Our server was Catherine who I later realized was the general manager. When I say this woman hustled her butt off, that's an understatement. She was tending bar, bussing tables, and being hospitable to every guest. Being in the hospitality industry (director at a hotel) I can honestly say she went above and beyond for her guests and provided an amazing experience. We are only in town for a few days and Intend to go back before we leave to try more food items. This spot serves beer to go and is a great food option in this area. Had lunch here. Expected a $40 meal (that we got) paid for an $80 meal. I don't mind paying $14 for a roast beef sandwich that was good but an undercooked burger for $14 is outrageous, and $6-$8 for a draft beer is ridiculous. 2 sandwiches and 6 draft beers should NOT equal $68 + a $10 tip.
