Staff was friendly, atmosphere was good. The menu has an abundance of options, and they all sound amazing. I spent a while struggling to choose what to get, and ended up with the Tofu Pad Prick Khing and it was delicious. My only issue is a minor one: I ordered it Hot, but it didn't have much spice to it. There was some heat, enough to add a little zing, but not enough to get a nice little burn. 10/10, definitely plan on coming back for more read more

We came here 10 years ago and it's just as amazing now as it was then! Everything is exceptional, as is the service and atmosphere. Great for families or large parties as well. We came during a weekday at lunch and it was empty. Not sure what it is like on the weekends. My mom is Singaporean and we all love the food, so you know it must be good! read more

I sincerely had ambitions to patronage this restaurant. For all the years I have lived in Jacksonville and the innumerous times I have driven past the restaurant I really wanted to sit down and give their offerings a shot. I am not a foodie, nor a blogger. I usually leave great reviews for restaurant and business owners whom I have tipped very well above the standard and expectations. You see, I love Asian, Thai, Caribbean and Indian food, and based on this restaurant's Yelp reviews, I wanted to give it a shot. This restaurant failed me on arrival. I arrived at 630pm with my Son and Daughter, there was only one wait person and it was clear to me the restaurant was not jammed in capacity. I observed it to be manageable. There we stood at the reception area and after the wait person being busy about the floor, 15minutes had passed and not once were we acknowledged, offered a table to sit, just plainly gazed at as if saying to us why are we even here. After I asked my kids should we wait longer, they responded it was better to go elsewhere. So here is my review, Old Siam clearly did not need my business this day. And I will never visit this restaurant in this small city where there are dining establishments vying for steady and consistent patronage business. I can find other offerings North of 17. read more

Came in for my birthday lunch and we were seated immediately. Ordered the Pad See Ew and it was fantastic!! I'm a big fan of fried tofu and the size of theirs was plenty! No one at the front to seat, no servers, no one at the bar etc. some of the other customers waiting with me gave up waiting and seated themselves. Waited 15 minutes and left. I believe this is the only real Thai resteraunt you can find in Jacksonville. But let me tell you, they are so so good! I had walked in and was greeted by a very nice lady. She sat us down and gave us a button, which we would press whenever we were ready. Loved that because it gave us time to actually look through the menu without feeling rushed. My sister and I had the thai tea, pad thai, and the Three Buddy. The three buddy was a bit expansive, but it was very good. The outside was a 2/5, inside including ambience was about a 2.3. Service was good but the waitress was timid. I had the beef fried rice, about a 1/5. Very very greasy with not much flavor and a very odd consistency of the beef, almost like overdone eggs. We saw a cockroach climbing on a ceiling beam back and forth. This place is the saving grace of Jacksonville restaurants. In a town filled with chains and "american" cuisine, Old Siam is a rare jewel. The food is authentic, delicious, and reasonably priced. The decor is understated, traditional and very comforting. They are always very friendly and very attentive. Wow, I never thought I'd have one of my favorite Thai food eating experiences here in Jacksonville. Like other yelpers said, don't let looks deceive you. The whole in the wall exterior is merely a mask for the yumminess inside. I ordered the panaang curry with beef. This may possibly be the best tasting curry I've had ever. The complexities of flavor really gave my food some richness that I haven't had at other Thai places.I got to taste their drunken noodles, pad thai, and fried rice here as well. Pretty good, but I say my curry was the best. Yay for unlimited Jasmine rice. It's like every Asian's restaurant dream. Service was super attentive. I thought this place was fairly decent. It was a cozy old 70s style indoor decor with a few Thai items to add to the authenticity. The menu had plenty to chose from. The chicken satay was presented nicely with a little burning heat candle that extinguished quite quickly. I think I settled on the special papaya duck salad. It was decent but salty. The yellow chicken curry was tasty but uneventful. I would go back to try something new. I thought the service was good. They were friendly and tried their best to manage all the customers. Honestly, Old Siam's got the best PAI THAI in the whole eastern coast. I've had Thai food from New York to Florida, and has not found anything in comparison. However, the restaurant needs some renovation. My family tried a few seafood dishes, and found the shrimp and the scallops tasting old. It's unfortunate that such a good restaurant has fallen down hill over the years. I really look forward to Old Siam to renovate and see them getting more business in the future. read more

Came out here to look for some coconut milk curry. Since it was my first time I asked the waitress for a recommendation. Number 64 was a favorite she said so I tried it out. Food: First of all, I came at dinner time therefore the prices were for dinner (Capt. Obvious) but even before ordering I asked the waitress if the portions were bigger given the fact that it's a $5 difference from the lunch price. She said yes, so I took her word. When the food arrived the waitress gave me a big plate with a decent size scoop of rice. Then the entree was served on a separate plate. My first thoughts were that this is definitely not a bigger portion. I wouldn't even say that there was any presentation put to the meal at all. The food tastes good. But it's missing something. What is it missing? I can't pin point it. My pick had some nuts, bell peppers, curry sauce. I only chose level 1 as well because I do not like spicy. Service: At the time there were only two servers working that night. Only one other group was eating that night as well. Service wasn't bad, but could do better. When you're ready to order you simply press a button located on the table. They were attentive for the most part. Except when it was time to pay the bill I had to press the button 3 times, and yet no one still came to the table. Finally I came to the break room/kitchen area to look for the server so we could finally leave. Ambience: I loved the lay-out of the restaurant. They had nice Thai decorations cleverly distributed around the restaurant. The cash register alone is designed as a straw hut. The servers wore what seemed as traditional Thai clothing. The chairs, tables, decorations all blended well. Overall: I think they should reduce the price of their dinner meals or include more food. If they are gonna charge that high, at least put more effort on the presentation of food to justify the price. I would understand the price as well if they were located in a prime location. But that's not the case either. Service needs some work as well. I most likely will not be coming back. read more

Food is great, food gets 4 stars. Only gave 3 stars because of the restaurants interior. There aren't any booths, all seating is tables and chairs. I don't know if there's mold or burns from a fire on the ceiling. Carpet is terrible and very much needs to be replaced. Place has great potential with their food. The Chinese zodiac place mats give a weird vibe considering it's Thai food. I ordered the green curry with shrimp at a spice level of 6. So glad they didn't hold back with the spice it was great. The chicken satay was also great along with my sons shrimp fried rice. My husband ordered the seafood green curry and was pleased as well. The waiter was very attentive to what we asked for and had a nice attitude event though we came off a little specific. Unfortunately there isn't a kids menu which was t a big deal for us since my 3 year old doesn't really eat off of the kids menu. They gave us a lunch sized shrimp fried rice for him even though it was dinner hours. My son also very much enjoyed the chicken satay that was served with some fire to cook it to your liking. Again very accommodating service, judging off of its curry alone I'd say the food is amazing when it comes to taste, but i only had a total of 6 very small shrimp pieces in my bowl. Will update when we've tried other things. Really wish they would update the interior to provide a better atmosphere. read more

Was in the area for work and decided to get some thai with my coworker. The restaurant was ok, the server was great and I liked the fact that they had a call button.
