Old Tappan Manor was simply amazing! We planned our wedding over an eighteenth month period and had about 215 guests in September 2015. No matter what question I had the staff helped me every step of the way. Moufid, Rich, Lauren and the whole staff made it a night to remember and one that the two of us and all of our guests enjoyed. I really loved that it was a one event venue; the room is a great size for lots of dancing an spacious for mingling. Food was delicious - the cocktail hour had so much variety and each main entrée got rave reviews from our guests. The grounds around Old Tappan Manor are also perfect for wedding pictures. Rich made sure that my centerpieces, tables, and the room looked just the way I wanted. He was a wonderful maitre'd taking care of guests in the midst of his busy evening. If I was to recommend a venue to a couple searching for wedding venue, Old Tappan Manor would be first on my list. read more

I am a bride who was married here on March 12th. Let me start from the beginning. I found this place online and fell in love, it is much more beautiful in person, breathtaking. I worked directly with Martin Shanley. He was able to work within our budget, and guided me through the process from start to finish. He was extremely professional and helpful through every step. When the big day came I was blown away by how amazing the space looked. There is separate cocktail space which is also amazing. My guest are STILL talking about how amazing the food is. A few guests came up to me at the reception to ask if there was dinner being served because they assumed they ate for the night at cocktail hour!! The reception staff executed a flawless dinner service, and my Maitre'D was beyond amazing. He kept us on schedule, made sure we ate, even grabbed my bouquet at the exact moment after our entrance for our first dance. These people are truly professionals and have been doing this for a long time and it shows. Again the FOOD IS AMAZING! The open bar is AMAZING. The space is GORGEOUS. This past Sunday, we held my father's 80th birthday party at Old Tappan Manor. My mother and I knew that if we wanted to have a big party, the traditional restaurant-sit-down wouldn't work (and would bore 70+ people out of their minds). Since my father's favorite part of a wedding is a cocktail hour (whose isn't?), I had the idea to essentially give him just that. On a hunch, I emailed OTM--I had considered the space for my own wedding a few years back and they immediately came to mind--to see if they could accommodate such a party and, much to my delight, Moufid called right away to invite us in to discuss the possibilities. Within minutes, we put down a deposit and booked the party. OTM offers you an incredible buffet package--aside from the included mezze, salads, veggies, fruit, charcuterie, breads, we selected candied corned beef and flank steak carving stations, fresh manicotti, penne vodka, chicken scarpariello, baked ham with roasted fruit (maybe my favorite), baked clams, fried calamari, and for dessert an ice cream sundae bar (in addition to the cake I ordered separately)--and Moufid added 45 minutes of passed hors devours as guests arrived. We also chose the open bar option which was surprisingly inexpensive and a nice treat for guests. Perhaps the loveliest thing that Moufid did for us, though, was surprising us with a shrimp, oyster, and clam raw bar. We had been discussing possibly adding it but decided against the extra cost; Moufid remembered that and made it happen for us, which not only really touched us but really impressed our guests. I can't recommend OTM more highly for an event. This party had all the ambiance of a wedding, thanks to the beautiful ballroom and the professionalism of the staff, but the easiness of a family reunion, and I hope to have an occasion to host a party there again in the future. read more

just created a yelp account specifically for the purpose of questioning this facility. Their website says they do off-site catering, and has a direct quote that says "no party is too small". But when my fiancé called them and asked for their pricing options for off-site, the man on the other phone rudely responed "you want to do it at your place? We don't do that." And proceeded to hang up the phone on her. I understand not every catering hall has the capabilities to do everything off premise. But it seems like bad business to get surly with a potential customer for asking about a service you have listed. read more

As mother of the groom, I would have thought I would receive a little special attention during my son's wedding here. Well, I thought wrong. Not only did I not see one waiter pay any attention to me, it seems the mother of the bride didn't either! Cocktail hour was a disaster. Where were the 20 some odd passed hors dervs that were suppose to be served. I saw maybe four different plates. And were was the maitre de to announce that there was a cigar bar, cappuccino bar and an ice cream bar????? He was to busy doing some flambe garbage!!!!!!!!!!!! After our initial venue cancelled on us three weeks before our 25th anniversary party for 180 people, Martin at the Old Tappan Manor got is in for a great price. The place is beautiful. All newly renovated with a waterfall in the back and a side patio with high top tables. Great lighting, great staff and all very professional. Martin will take all your worries and problems away. An all around perfect wedding venue experience!! Just had our wedding reception at the OTM in October 2016. It was everything and more - and I am a very particular type of person. The short answer is: OTM is perfect - no compromising required (physical aesthetic, staff, food, price ALL excellent). Absolutely a diamond in the ruff of NY/NJ wedding venues!! We stumbled upon this venue while doing our initial list generation - neither of us had ever been to or knew anyone who had been to OTM for functions. The long answer is below: Martin: We worked with Martin, who is just wonderful, and a big part of the reason that we decided on the OTM versus the other 'typical' NJ/NY venues we had visited. Martin is absolutely professional, personable, attentive, available, down to earth, and experienced. He worked with us to custom design the day of our dreams. From menu decisions to seating arrangements to personalized decor that he accommodated us bringing on site for the big day, there was not a single hiccup along the way. The physical property is wonderful. A classic and clean aesthetic. An awesome entry foyer with beautiful dark wood bar! Excellent dedicated cocktail hour space with ample seating - a unique and luxury feature for cocktail hour! The ballroom space is classic, spacious, and charming. High ceilings and lots of windows! We loved that our 175 guests weren't cramped. Dance floor for days! There are two outdoor spaces - one covered patio with high tables (where we hired a cigar roller for an awesome element), the other an open patio with a lit waterfall (where we brought a gas fire pit). The bridal suite (yes it is a real designated space unlike many other venues that allocate a closet for you) is gigantic with a spacious private bathroom. Once the cocktail hour begins for your guests, Martin will kick the bridal party out so that the bride and groom have 15 minutes of peace, during which you will be served a bountiful sampling of the cocktail hour foods and drink! It is something he really emphasizes, and really made a big impact on our day! Food/Drink: Just really fantastic - and that is not a relative evaluation based on the fact that wedding food is typically meh. This food was actually objectively very good, coming from someone who values food over many things in life.. The cocktail hour selection list is gigantic - and the number of choices you make leaves you with what is still a virtually endless variety of food. The bar staff was great! The open bar was catered to our likes - the groom wanted Grey Goose, so Grey Goose was available. Another unique feature of this venue: the table waiters take drink orders and deliver them to guests at the tables. The wedding cake is part of the package, and OTM works with A Little Cake in Park Ridge, NJ. The cake was equal parts delicious and beautiful! We both were incredibly surprised that the cake tasted even better on the big day than at the tasting! Richie (Maitre d'): Awesome. Richie is incredibly professional and a master of his craft. Super organized and efficient - we wish we could hire him to run our lives. We met him to day before to show him the decor we had brought, and in the blink of an eye, he knew exactly where we wanted everything, the vibe we were going for, and delivered 110% on the big day. Lauren (bridal attendant): The best! She was always at my side when I needed her, but never in the way or overbearing. Had things for me before I knew I wanted or needed them. Stealth excellence. If and when you book your event at the OTM, we highly recommend Gemini DJs (DJ Anthony), a vendor they work with often. The rest of our vendors were ones we had ourselves (not regulars to the venue), but the OTM was incredibly welcoming to us bringing them ahead of time to get a preview of the space. All of our vendors said great thing about the venue staff after the fact, which I think is an interesting and impressive thing! My favorite 'sealed with a kiss' moment of our experience with OTM: when we went the next day to pick up our decorations, everything had been packaged up for us by the staff, who was there to help us load it into our truck. I had the most wonderful wedding here. I can't say enough good things. We worked with Martin for over a year and he went out of his way to be as accommodating as possible. There was nothing we really wanted that he wasn't willing to compromise on. We met with Richie a few days before and when he took over he was amazing as well. He was on top of everything and made the final few days as worry free as possible. The night of the wedding he and Lauren (who was so great my entire bridal party wanted to take her home) went above and beyond for us. They kept everything and everyone organized and it was a huge weight off my shoulders. The room was absolutely beautiful. My guests actually told me that as well. And the food from both the cocktail hour and the main course got rave reviews. They also brought my husband and I upstairs to enjoy some cocktail hour time alone which allowed us a minute to breathe, and eat and enjoy each other's company which was great. read more

The OTM was the perfect setting for our wedding. We had many people coming from out of town and having the ceremony and reception in one location was important to us. The food was second to none. As my bride, I regret that I didn't get a chance to enjoy as much of my food as my guests did. The venue was stunning, the perfect backdrop for our photos. Family and friends continue to comment on what an outstanding time they had. Rich was the maitre d', and Lauren was the bridal attendant. My daughter had her wedding reception this past Saturday, August 29th at the Old Tappan Manor. This was by far the best wedding reception I have ever attended! From the first day I met with Martin Shanley, the manager until the end of the evening when I said goodbye to the maître d' Rich everything was handled with perfection and the utmost care was given to all. The outside of the venue is meticulously manicured and they have a beautiful waterfall which is a great drop back for pictures. The bridal party has a beautiful private room to start their evening with a private cocktail time. The cocktail hour room with beautiful and the food was plentiful. The reception room looked like a place out of a fairy tale book. It was magnificent. The chandeliers glistened and the lights had just the right touch. The room is surrounded by huge windows and the back window allows the view of the water fall. The flowers were from the Orangeburg Florist in Blauvelt, New York and they added the final touch to the room. The food was out of this world and the wait staff was attentive to all. My guests have not stopped talking about this wonderful wedding. I only wish it was last week so I could do it all over again! I highly recommend the Old Tappan Manor to anyone looking for a venue for any occasion. This is the place to be! read more

My husband and I had our wedding here a couple of weekends ago and it was the most perfect day! :) I cannot say enough good things about Old Tappan Manor. Joesph and Martin made the planning process an absolute breeze. Rich, Martin, and the team went above and beyond the day of the wedding and I never worried about a thing. They did a fantastic job running the day, working with our vendors, and were extremely attentive. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous! The combination of the modern decor yet very warm atmosphere, along with the tall windows overlooking the breathtaking view of the waterfall were beautiful. My wedding was at OTM on Saturday - I could not be happier. Martin, Richie and Lauren are fabulous. I had 220 guests and each is still raving about every aspect of the wedding. My Husband and I had our reception here on June 6, 2015. After searching many locations about 2 years ago, I was consistently disappointed that I could not find a place I loved. Then, I stumbled upon Old Tappan Manor through some more rigorous searching. I called and made an appointment to see it 2 days later. I was immediately impressed with the location, grounds, and amazing ballroom. I fell in love with it before Martin came down to meet me. We worked with Martin Shanley through pretty much all of the steps. He was easy to get in touch with and followed up on every question I had for him, even the minor ones. On top of that, I felt that Old Tappan Manor went above and beyond to give us little extras. Our Maitre d Richie was also great to work with. I only met him a week before the wedding, but everything went smooth thanks to him. Martin was also present throughout the entire reception which made me feel even more confident about the night going smoothly.
