A dozen donuts. Some flavors I recall were coconut, plain glazed, molasses, molasses glazed, chocolate, and cinnamon sugar.

Very fresh and delicious old fashioned donuts. Go early - many flavors were sold out already by 9 to 9:30am.

Time to renew my review (last reviewed on 2/25/2012)…read more We continue to be thrilled with the quality and variety of donuts. Our favorites continue to the glazed twists, maple (any variety/frosted or unfrosted), blueberry(any variety/frosted or unfrosted), and of course the kids love the chocolate donut with chocolate frosting with rainbow or chocolate sprinkles. Service is quick and friendly. What's even better, they now have online ordering for pick up!! Now, if they run out of a donut or it's not available - they will substitute the closest possible. So if you are concerned about the substitute, you should order in person....with that there's even a greater risk no donuts will be available...I would rather order via that app, as I know I will get something! Parking can be annoying, especially if you don't like parallel parking or walking. But we don't mind at all for these delicious donuts! Place can get crowded. There are a few tables available to sit inside and sometimes a couple of chairs on the sidewalk. It's always neat and clean inside. I highly recommend!!!

What a hidden gem in a town i've never visited before. I decided to make it to brunch for mother's…read moreday weekend and i really can't recommend this spot enough for a delicious and down to earth meal with people you love. I think the space is very cozy, with an open kitchen and wood tables and bar. The cute little market in back is wonderful to check out before or after your meal. The staff is absolutely wonderful. So kind and making recommendations along with answering any questions you have. I think for the price of food you are really getting a great deal. Everything is made fresh in house from scratch which you can watch when you sit at the bar which i did. Watching orange juice wbu freshly squeezed and the donuts being put together from absolute scratch. The burger is definitely a great choice, I couldn't get over the house cut fries and the alna sauce was wonderful to dip them in. The burger was juicy and delicious and paired perfectly with the Volcanique red they had on the menu. My mother ordered the grits and eggs, this dish was cooked perfectly and had a house made salsa verde. The side of sourdough is a must get for shareable side. The house made jam was spectacular - they make every sauce and dip and spread in house and you can really tell. It elevates the meal so much. The drinks were a bit overpriced in my opinion but as someone who lives in Portland i wasn't surprised they were priced that way. The standout from the meal was definitely the sour dough donut. This was fried fresh to order and we had the seasonal flavor that was lime glazed and it was absolutely breathtaking! The crispy exterior with the fluffy inside was perfection - you have to order this. I definitely will need to come and check out dinner here. Highly recommend making the trek out!

Everything about The Alna Store is so special--it's possibly the best meal you will ever have, while inside the most unpretentious building, an actual store that sells produce and specialty gift items. A place like this should be experienced as a planned outing, not just a restaurant that's happened upon. A James Beard Award winning restaurant inside what could have been my grandparents' barn, along with beautifully mismatched silverware and repurposed green wine bottle water glasses--what could be more Maine? On both visits we were so excited that we arrived about a half hour early for our reservation, yet were welcomed and promptly seated. The service is excellent, and the food is next level out of this world. I couldn't help but want the person I was with to try what I was eating so we could try to parse out the complex flavors in each dish. Is that a tomato base? Chives? Ginger? Cucumber? We enjoyed every bite of every plate. Both times we started with the gazpacho, at dinner it was served with a grilled/toaster piece of sourdough focaccia. Fantastic! My dinner entree was the grilled squash with roasted peppers and delicious, flavorful breadcrumbs, and fresh mint leaves--it was our favorite plate of the meal. We both had desserts (pictured), the cake looked impressive as it tasted, yet the berry crisp was our favorite. Everything at dinner was so fabulous that I had to return, this time for brunch. We started with a couple of cups of our favorite Tandem coffee, again the gazpacho, and this time tried the ratatouille. Again, the flavors! How do they do it? Everything looked and tasted as if it was prepared with care. One more observation, how mistakes are handled: the person I had brunch with was vegan and the ratatouille came out with cheese. Our server promptly recognized the error, brought a remade dish, and at the end of the meal brought a complimentary vegan sorbet and said that "mistakes are celebrated", which we appreciated. Because of all of the much deserved accolades The Alna Store has recently received (James Beard, New York Times), the parking lot was full of out of state plates from Massachusetts, Maryland, Oregon, so be sure to make a reservation, and enjoy the people watching while you eat possibly the best meal of your life. We are so fortunate to live within an hour of this very special place. A solid five stars, please don't change a thing. I can't wait to try the fall menu!

Take out to our boat. pad Thai, Fried Rice, Spring Rolls, and steam dumplings. Dumplings good, everything else exceptional. And we got the biggest yeasty cinnamon bun I've ever seen. Words cannot describe how decadent this was. OMG!!!! I've been coming to Boothbay for 30 years and never knew this place was there. If someone had not sent me would have thought just a bakery. It is that too. I have seen some negative reviews on service. Not fair. There is no table service. You stand at the counter till they have time to take your order. If you are eating there, they will deliver to your table. There is beautiful outside seating. And English is not their first language so patience may be required. And they are from a different culture and it to some that may translate as rude. That has not been my experience nor those lined up for their food or bakery products. A constant stream of takeout. If you like Asian food, funky place, this is it. One more thing. The order we had at most any other Asian restaurant in the area would have been double the cost. 2 entrees large portions, 2 apps and a desert for under$50 bucks!!!

I am not a doughnut person at all, but I always make an exception for apple fritters. So we bought one, and I want to emphasize the word "one" because it was sooooooo huge that it would've just been too much to have gotten more. It was enough for 3 to share, frankly. It was really large. The apple fritter was good, but I have to say, it wasn't my favorite. I've been spoiled by a place near our home (3,000 miles away) where the addition of a noticeable amount of cinnamon with huge apple chunks always steals my heart. Here, at least in the fritter we got, I didn't taste any cinnamon, and honestly, I couldn't taste any apple pieces either. Not sure what was going on. It still tasted good, but I felt like it wasn't well represented for what they claimed it to be. Again, it wasn't bad... it just wasn't great, either.

Although it was the afternoon, I took 2. A Boston Cream donut and a sugar chocolate cake donut. I at these during my drive back to Boston. The sugar chocolate was pretty good. Still somewhat fresh. And it is what you would expect from a cake donut. The sugar added a nice touch. The Boston Cream was fresh as well. But, the filling's flavor was off. You could taste the standard cream filling, but something just didn't taste right. Oh well, I devoured it. Now, were they homemade? I have no idea. Both owners were assisting and seemed to be very nice. Im thinking this is another local favorite, as the owner knew a lot of customers that came in.

However, we had to wait awhile just to order. The workers were discussing an issue going on with their computers and completely ignored us. They could have at least acknowledged us as we awkwardly waited. Then when the next person in our party went to order, the worker walked away and left us standing for another 5 minutes while a line started to form. We finally ordered from a kiosk. Our drinks came quickly. The latte was really good, one of the best. The foam was the perfect amount. It was a great coffee flavor. We customized our other iced coffee drinks, they were definitely on the sweet side, a little bit too sweet. We also ordered a Boston Cream Donut. After 20 minutes of waiting, good thing we had our coffee to drink, I finally went up to ask about our order. The staff member was shocked we hadn't gotten it, even though out receipt was sitting there as well as another family's order. He even used a bad word as he grabbed our donut.
