Stopped in to grab a coffee and use the bathroom while exploring downtown Eureka on foot. The coffee was good and hot, but the welcome was less than warm. I'm not sure if the hipsters at the register just don't like tourists or what, but c'mon man, I'm still a coffee lover and there's no need to cop a major attitude just because you and I aren't on a first name basis! Minus a couple of stars for the snobbery but I highly commend this place for their "pay it forward" board. You can pay for a coffee and they'll add a star to a board, and someone needy can come in and request to "redeem" your good gesture for a cup of coffee. I really love that concept (and yes, I purchased two cups to add to the board). It's nice to help out in a small way, and even the tiniest of gestures help make this world a better place. read more

The environment is very relaxed with great smoothies and chocolates. The brick walls are warm and turn the cozy levels up to an 11. There is always new artwork on the walls to refresh the eyes and possibly your home, if you like. I love going on monday and friday evenings to see the improv act. It's fun, especially when theres a big group to shout out suggestions. Some days are better than others but I've really enjoyed it whenever I've gone. And the cafe also has live music acts throughout the week in the evenings. It's a great stop on a tour of old town and a favorite for a caffeine fix. read more

We stopped here on a road trip on HWY 101. It was a nice place for a refreshing drink. Unfortunately it didn't seem like there was a bathroom. The staff wasn't very friendly so I didn't feel like asking either. The drinks were good. I had to ask if they had almond milk because the menu was so cluttered that I either didn't see it or it wasn't on there. $$$$ Predatory pricing for vegans. $7.80 for a 20 oz non-caffeinated Tea latte with oat milk from the annex in Henderson center. $6.30 for tea, $1.50 add on for steamed oat milk. I had to ask if the oat milk was separate because you can get 32oz for $3. This drink costs way too much. Be aware that the rationale for pricing and add-on's at OTCC is ridiculous. 20 oz of spearmint tea for $6.30? And I have to pay $1.50 just to add oat milk to a Tea Latte because of my diet? Decent coffee with a good variety of options. They'll allow you to use their WiFi for an allotted amount of time, about an hour and a half, by using a voucher code. The Humboldt Mud is their most popular item which is a ice blended coffee drink which is pretty good! The staff can be here nor there. I've visited when the staff seems like they want nothing to do with you and I visit on days where the staff is actually pleasant and welcoming. I'd visit if the local Starbucks isn't open. read more

This has been an Old Town classic for as long as I've been alive. They have a strong brunch focused menu that ranges from grilled cheese sandwiches to delicious waffles. They have the full spread of coffee and espresso drinks. Delightful smoothies. A case of delicious baked goods and fun chocolate treats. And a full selection of packaged coffee and accessories to look at while you wait. The line can be long- but they work through it efficiently. read more

Best dirty chai Ive had in Humboldt, but devastatingly high in price-almost $7 whaaaat??? I kindly made a joke that Ive never heard of a latte price that high (as I am an avid dirty chai drinker, always looking for a new coffee shop to try) She blamed it on the fact they have to charge extra for dairy free milk, but so does everyone else. Not sure how they are managing to successfully overcharge a speciality latte by $1.50 but even as delicious as it was, its not a price anyone should have to pay. Review based on their roasted coffee beans I have personally never been to this coffee shop (sad face) but my wonderful sister who is a local frequents the shop. Mediocre Coffee. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Really really really disappointed with the customer service here. That whole experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that the coffee didn't even stand a chance at that point... I asked if they had a blonde roast and the cashier with a brown ponytail working today 5/28 was super rude for no reason. She ignored me and left me hanging until she decided to answer me... super weird experience! My boyfriend's coffee was super hot he burnt his mouth :( I saw him do this so I asked the girl to pour out a little and add more cream as to not burn my mouth.... well now I have a cup full of creamer for that tastes slightly like coffee..... both people I dealt with very very cold and rude. I understand the whole being busy part but to be treated this way x2 is...... alarming to say the least. **I walked back in and got a new cup with cream and sugar on the side. Asked them to check the temp so they could bring it down to 130 and she checked it was 140, ok. This person that helped me was beyond better in terms of customer service than the other two. Nice coffeehouse in old town. Free wifi works well, the space is big, they have entertainment sometimes. There are tables outside for nice weather. The menu offers a variety of coffee drinks and treats. I usually get regular coffee, which is their own roast. There's always a variety of regular and decaf roasts to choose from. Can't really go wrong if you need some caffeine or need a place to get some work done for a while. read more

I like this place. All I've tried is the coffee, and not that it really matters in the end, but I like the little designs they make on the top. This is also a great place to go for meetings during work, and a place that almost everyone knows. I will say, the employees are a bit rude and weird sometimes. The last time I was there, the person I was with had a dog she left outside for less than five minutes, while we were ordering coffee, and one of the male employees jumped all over her like it was the end of the world. Asking her to "tame" her dog....he barked once, and weighs less than 10 pounds. Get a grip. read more

I really liked this place. I had it twice while in Eureka, a Saturday morning and a Sunday morning. Both guys who rang us up were very friendly and knowledgeable. The place is huge, so you could come in with a large crowd and be able to have long talks without anyone getting mad. They have awesome art work here too and it just seems like a nice place to hang out. The coffee itself was very good and the coffee chocolate fudge was also tasty as well!
