It's very hit or miss. I've had some good meals here (weekend Prime Rib special) but had some not so good ones. Service is also questionable. But as its one of the few options in the area, its worth a look. Never out right bad, but never out right awesome. As soon as we walked in the front door, the lobby had an odor of ammonia (or cat pee) and no one even greeted us. We got a "5 of ya?" and were rushed to a booth. Our waitress was obviously in a rush the entire night, even though it was an hour til close and only 2 other tables being served. Appetizers were ok, the bread was good but our dinners were definitely subpar. My husband's pork chops were disgusting...tough and old. He literally spit out the one bite he tried and then asked me to try a bite. Unfortunately I did and I couldn't eat it either. It actually tasted like bad meat! My baked spaghetti was ok. My daughter's sirloin was ordered medium and came out well done and tough with burned edges. The chicken tenders were tough as well. As a courtesy they took off the pork chops my husband sent back. The manager is the worst so so so rude trying to explain why we were upset and told my friend to be quite. Waited for 2 hours to get food that wasn't hot, didn't comp anything. Treated are waitress like the problem was all her fault when it was the kitchen. Maybe if they had a better manger this wouldn't be happening. I hope the owner of this restaurant sees this and finds a new manger. Absolutely unacceptable to refuse to talk to a customer and try to fix a problem. Upon arrival we were told to wait 10 minuets despite several tables sitting available... I'm assuming it's because they're short staffed??? I got the sinful chicken which was coated in an extremely salty cheese sauce. Our waitress was very nice and made sure we had full glasses. Stopped here while passing through on our way to Lexington KY. Seemed like a better option than fast food. Ordered a mushroom burger and chicken sandwich. Burgers were obviously made from frozen patties and chicken was of poor quality,. Both were accompanied by stale buns and fries which spent too much time under the heat lamp. To top it all off, the coke tasted like it came out of an opened two lire bottle which has sat on the counter for week. As soon as we walk in we see there's no hostess. We can see in the back there's a window where two employees just stared at us for a few MINUTES before coming to the front to greet us. MINUTES. We were about to walk out. I ended up ordering the salmon. That was a mistake. It stank and was tasteless and just warm, not fresh. The bed of rice was watery and just not tasty. The waitress was unfriendly and I did tell her my food was not edible. She asked, "what would you like me to do about it?" Just seemed like a sarcastic remark instead of trying to be helpful. Between the waitresses walking all around the restaurant barely wearing their masks, or licking icing off their fingers in front of customers, to the cooks in the kitchen eating on the cook line or pushing each other in the back then refusing to change gloves. I live in another town so I just eat at OTG every once and a while. I usually order the same thing every time. Sirloin, fries, and a salad. I think it's the best steak in the area. I've only gotten a tough steak from here a couple of times, but not so tough it was uneatable. Most of the time the steaks are tender and delicious. My only complaint is the men's restroom. It never looks like it had been recently cleaned and the trash is always overflowing with paper hand towels. read more

This place should close there doors.I order bone in wings and chips WELL the bartender try to give me wings with out bones then he got his ass up took back the so called wings left the chips. So when he brought back the wings with BONES IN THEM THE CHIPS WERE COLD. The bone in wings were the pits grease no sauce just grease. I usually get the catfish dinner with onion rings and a baked potato. It is consistent and always cooked perfect. I did have a prime rib sandwich once and it was not that great. I still go for the catfish though. $10 gets you 3 big fillets and a pile of onion rings that are hand sliced and very good. My wife and I have dined here numerous times and I find that the food is very good (I am picky). The staff is friendly and seem to really care. The cooks know steaks and I never had to send one back! The prime rib open plate special is great, the food is typically good for the geographic area.the service and professionalism is not important. So if you like a place where you may or may not see you waitress after you get your food then this is the place for you. Bring your own drink . I have lived in the area for a year! I've tried lots of places and let me say, don't listen to the other reviews. This place is great! No we didn't get tons of bread, but do you really go out to eat for the free bread? Come on now. We had a new waiter and he did a great job. Our drinks were full, food came out hot. My husband and I both got the prime rib and their steamed asparagus was great! The kids got the kids fried shrimp meal and it was legit fried shrimp, not freezer to microwave crap. Old Town Grill is pretty good, the food is usually good and the waitresses are friendly. The food seems to take a very long time to come out though, always. They also used to bring you bread and garlic butter that was FANTASTIC, but they stopped serving it for some reason. Everyone seemed to like it alot better than what they have now. Besides that, the bar area is good, especially for Tazewell and the restaurant always seems very clean and decorated nice. It isn't overpriced either. I would recommend it, however they do need to tweek a couple of things here and there. Just one thing, please bring back the garlic bread and garlic butter!! The food is nice and the desserts are good as well. Kids eat free on Sundays, and they have a outdoor sitting area where bands perform sometimes too. read more

Overall the experience was a bit off the last time I went a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it's a real shame since the previous visit was rather nice. The restaurant has a sort of dreary look in terms of lighting and decor. The food varies depending on your visit. The last time I went I ordered catfish, the dish came with too much salt and pepper. The second attempt was no better when they apologized because the cook had forgot it on the grill and burnt it. At this point it was rather annoying that the rest of my table had eaten and I had yet to. While they re-made it I requested no pepper or salt since they obviously couldn't do it well. Finally at last it came out and amazingly had no pepper but was still a bit salty...it was comped to me but to be honest I'm unsure I want to give this establishment another try. The wait staff were responsive and attentive to the table, and alas that is a saving grace. There really isn't a lot of options in terms of dining in the area, feel free to try it. However, I wouldn't recommend it unless some changes are done. read more

Went for dinner on a weeknight. Not very many seated throughout the entire restaurant. Took about 45 minutes to get 2 meals. Both plates were cold. My husband ended up being sick all night after this. Also, all of the high chairs have broken safety belts. The OTG is okay, but it is not great by any stretch. Consistency is not their strong suit. Sometimes the food is good. Other times, not so much. Sometimes the servers are friendly and attentive. We stayed in Cumberland gaps Olde mill inn at the bed and breakfast, and knowing that their isn't allot of nice places to eat, We heard this place was about the best in the area. We walked in and the manager and the waitress didn't even greet us at all. So she said wanna follow me and we sat in the booth. We told her it was our 10th anniversary and she never acknowledged it at all. We placed our order and the food was decent. Our server was nice. But what killed our night was when they sat a couple with a kid who the parents didn't want to discipline and not be polite when their kid kept getting on the booth and bothering my wife. The manager took time to spend time with the couple vs asking other couples how the food and service was. If your in the area and looking for a nice fine dining restaurant, it doesn't exisit in the area. I came in tonight with an open mind and hoping for the best. I had read the reviews and was thought maybe the people who had written them had high expectations.... well that is not the case. For an appetizer we had the fried mushrooms and those were pretty good and they give you a ton!! For supper I ordered the grilled chicken club and that was an extreme disappointment. The chicken was pretty terrible and lettuce was slimy and gross. As for the dining experience as a whole the table is sticky due to harsh cleaners stripping the varnish and the booth seats are pretty uncomfortable. The waitress was pleasant although she was definitely not in a hurry and we spent a lot of time waiting. If you expect to have your drink refilled or the check to arrive in a timely fashion you will be mistaken. The valentines decor is what I would expect to find in a kindergarten classroom and the bathrooms are not very clean. I wish I was able to give a better review and I don't think I will come back to give it a second shot. read more

My brother and I went and he got the Salmon Fillet it looked good I got the Shrimp bake it was terrible the Shrimp was okay the Orange sauce on the noodles was awful looked like vomit and it tasted like something out of a spagettios can and it had this white cheese in it that was half melted and plus the server thought it was spagetti and was like sorry no this is the Shrimp bake couldn't tell what it was. Also got the pull pork nachos the jalapenos look spoiled it was like a half green half reddish Orange color the chips in it were soft in the middle and the pork was cold I'll never eat here again. read more
