I am not a breakfast person. I just moved here to Yakima and was waiting for Costco to open so I thought I would yelp a place to eat. I was seated within seconds of walking in the door. The wait staff was friendly and very attentive (I like that) I ordered off the back small meals one egg omelet hash browns and iced tea. One thing that made me smile when my ice tea was refilled a cup of ice was brought to the table. That is what I call service, someone who knows their way around the drink world. Breakfast served outside since there was no indoor dining 2 weeks ago. The service was good and the tables in the sun made it a bit hard to see for eating breakfast. The food was good with eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. Everything was cooked correctly and served fresh and hot. The coffee was okay but again fresh and hot. Would not hesitate to eat there again hopefully when inside dining is allowed. read more

I ordered the meatloaf dinner. No idea what it was made of but it was not ground beef. Instead of being a nice experience it was a flat piece of something that possibly was made with Italian sausage. Thick and dense like sliced block cheese. The taste was terrible and I couldn't even eat it. Have had breakfast before and it was really wonderful but I will never recommend the Meatloaf. My family and I ordered take out, with 3 taco salads and a Denver omelet. The salads were super tiny and not good at all. The shell was stale. The meat tasted old and was super greasy. They used bagged salad for the taco salads consisting of carrots! The hashbrowns were not cooked all the way. They forgot the rolls with each salad and the white bread that came with the omelet. Overall, my opinion of this place is not good and I dont recommend this place to anyone. We came here before and were satisfied but not this time! While the food was good, it's just not worth it. I ate here with my father mid-morning, and I had the Denver Omelet(everything fully cooked, by the by). Shortly after getting home(this was probably about 2-3 hours after eating)I began feeling absolutely horrible. Extremely nauseated, lightheaded, chills, headache, stomach cramping and dry heaves. I think we all know this points to food poisoning. I had eaten nothing prior to this, and at 7:30pm I still have not eaten anything else today thanks to being ill from this food. Not worth it guys. This place has the feel of Americana mom and pop. It's a cute place, old decor, friendly staff and classic American dishes. To echo the reviews of others, it's just a good old-fashioned place to eat. The food is great, I've got nothing but compliments. When American comfort food is what I'm in the mood for, this is the place to be in Yakima. The prices are really reasonable too for what you get. Yuck! Horrible food!! When we walked in it reminded me of a bad cafeteria, we should have turned around and walked out the door right then. It was lunchtime on a Saturday and it was packed but for the life of me I can't figure out why. I ordered the French dip expecting thin sliced roast beef but got what looked and tasted like week old, dried out shredded pot roast. It was impossible to eat as every time I tried to dip it into the au jus most of the shredded meat fell out. The food being delivered to other tables looked equally bad. Unidentifiable lumps covered with nasty brown gravy that most likely came out of a can. The only thing that looked like it might be worth trying was the breakfast but I'll never know because I will never return. read more

I'm pretty sure the hash browns were from the freezer, the coffee is ordinary, and no real cream. The food is really no better than Denny's, maybe not as good. Mediocre at best. This was a great place to stop for a delicious dinner. I had the roasted turkey with cranberries, mashed potatoes/gravy and applesauce. The turkey was delicious, perfectly cooked, and all of the sides were very good. It seems there are a lot of older people that come here (probably all regulars) but that's fine with me - it's a hometown local restaurant. They offer cinnamon rolls for $1.99 and they are absolutely delicious. Got one of them and another to go! They are also homemade and cooked from scratch. Very quick service too - thanks! Thanks Yelp. This is a great place with friendly service. They have real bacon (not the paper-thin stuff the chains have). They cooked my eggs to perfection both mornings I was there (yep picky about my eggs). If I lived in Yakima, this would be my go-to place like Gloria's in Maple Valley is at home. Whenever I'm in Yakima for breakfast, this is where I'll be. I didn't have the opportunity to eat dinner here but I'll bet that pork loin special was good. My husband and I found ourselves passing through Yakima on a road trip, and stayed the night in Yakima. Before heading on our way in the morning we decided to try to find a decent breakfast place. I am not a fan of Yakima, and wanted to get out of there as fast as possible, and was pretty doubtful we were going to find anywhere half way decent. Upon consulting the almighty Yelp, we saw that there was a good ole' reliable Shari's in town, but I always prefer to support local businesses over chain restaurants. We found this place and decided to give it a try based on reviews. Pro's: Although it is very dated (a la 90's booths and decorum) it is very clean, with a fresh coat of paint and clearly well maintained. We were seated instantaneously. They have an exceptionally good waitstaff which is part of why I suspect they are a local favorite. Our own waitress was very friendly, in a very genuine but not necessarily trying to overtly please us type of way. She was attentive, and we hardly had to wait for our orders to be taken or food to be served. I saw a young kid with tattoos kindly helping an elderly person with their walker, storing it for her and letting her know he would bring it back for her when she was ready for it. That made me smile. Bathrooms were clean (a big stickler for me) and it was nice that they had displays on their wall about local history. I was amazed that this place also still takes personal checks. Maybe it's a small town thing, I can't think of any place back home that accepts checks anymore. The food: Is pretty ok. This is traditional breakfast done honestly, and without overdoing it. The menu featured items such as Belgian Waffles, French toast, Eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy, Chicken Fried Steak, etc. Prices averaged around $8.00 and the portions were decent, but not over the top like some truck stop cafe's. I had the German Sausage with 2 eggs, hashbrowns and toast. The sausage had good flavor but was just a tad overcooked. Hubby had the French toast which was pretty good but not earth changing, flavored heavily with nutmeg. One thing I freaking love about Eastern Wa. is that everyone has Pepsi products! This brings me great joy as I hate Coke, and that all of our native Portland area is Coke territory. Cons: Not much here, there is a reason why people gave this place good reviews. This is a place that obviously cares about their establishment and the people they serve. It's personable and local. If for some reason I find myself in Yakima again (doubtful) I am sure we will stop back in. read more

Traveling through the Yakima, WA area and stopped by this place. Had the open face beef sandwich and a cup of their cream of potato soup. I think it was the best open face beef sandwich I've ever had. The soup was fantastic as well. The crowd is older but they know good food. Service was fast and friendly. Don't miss out! read more

This was the worst place I have ever eaten. We stopped to have dinner on our trip home. We ordered corn dogs and soup for then small children and chillies for most of the adults. The waitress was rude and argued with me about ordering soup for a 2rd old, I told her he wanted soup and I did not care that more than a kids meal. I had to tell her 5 times it was unbelievable, she got us drinks and never refilled them. An hour later I asked the manager how much longer it would be for our food and he never come back to tell us. After another 45mins we decided to leave then Manger would not even come to the till so we could pay for our drinks. We left money on the till and left. Went here for breakfast based on locals reccomendations and TA and Yelp reviews. We weren't impressed. I had the meat lover's omelette and while it was large and filling, the eggs were browned and almost burnt tasting. We ordered wheat toast and I think we got white bread. The hasbrowns were probably the worst we've ever had. They barely had any brown on them at all and were on the verge of not being done. DW had hash and eggs and the hash had grease running out of it. If this place is the best breakfast in the area, I would hate to eat at the others. read more

We waited 25 minutes for our food, watched other people who arrived after us served before us, I had to watch my husband eat because they served him first and my food didn't come out at the same time. We left and I realized I left my cell phone head phones on the table, too late, because either the server or someone else stole them. Food was greasy and came out of a can.
