Ever since I moved into old town Orange Jalapeños has become my go to Mexican food spot. First the service is always stealer, some of the best service I've received at a "fast casual" style restaurant. All of the staff are extremely friendly and know my name and order. They are always accommodating and helpful. The food and especially the salsas are very good. The medium brown tomato salsa pairs very well with the Al Pastor. The meats are all good quality as well. My only gripe is the portions on the tacos feel pretty light compared to other tacos places I've tried. Especially for $4 a taco I feel they should loaded up and they barely have more meat than a street taco. Overall Jalapeños is a great local Mexican spot. read more

Must try! We've been to the Irange Circle a few times but first time trying Old Towne Jalapeños & it won't be the last. My husband is always looking for the perfect bean & cheese burrito and he finally found it! Refied beans made with lard & lots of home cooked flavor in a burrito filled with cheese. My go to is the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and these were some of the BEST I've had. Chicken had great flavor and really juicy. Salsa wasn't spicy, I could use a bit more heat, but the flavor was on point. What really made it for me was the kids plate. We have been to many Mexican restaurants and no one offers kids plates. This is my first time here. I've been to the Tustin location several times. I barely got in the door and was made welcome. The male employee at the register had a smile from ear to ear. I believe the other person a female was the owner. She too was smiling and very nice. I ordered the cheese enchilada plate and a Asada soft taco. I got my beverage and some salsa while waiting for my food. I was given some free chips. The food was very good. I think it's better than Tustin. The dining room is warm and inviting. Its a happy environment to eat your yummy food. I noticed several TV'S. This would be a nice place to come and watch football. I noticed signs with daily specials, and other specials. I used to love this place before COVID, but then new ownership came in and fixed what was never broken. I used to get chicken fajitas and they were the best; they are now overpriced and not cooked in the same marinade that made them special--they are cooked in no marinade so they don't taste good anymore. I got the taco salad but now you have to put it in a flour tortilla shave like a saucer otherwise it's just a small pathetic tostada. They didn't use to happen before the new owners came in. Also, when the new owners came in, they got rid of the old fountain drink machine. They used to be a touchscreen with a lot of options and changed it with a cheap one. They only had six options, which is pretty sad. The final straw was they have very different seating. I liked all the booths they used to have that made the place have a community feel to it. It seems the new owners just don't care about the customers like the old ones did. I will no longer be dining here. read more

I came to Jalapeños Orange Circle last night, October 30th, 2025, around 6:20 PM, hoping for a taste of the nostalgia I remembered from high school. They were relatively busy, likely due to the "Treats in the Street" event, but that is no excuse for what followed. The Food: Cold, Skimpy, and Overpriced I ordered two Pastor Tacos. Quantity Fail: As you can clearly see in the photo, the amount of meat given should not qualify as a street taco portion. For the nearly $10 I was charged, this portion size is unacceptable and a complete rip-off. Temperature Fail: To make matters worse, the tortillas were cold. The Service: Needs Improvement Disappointed, I made my way to the register to request a refund. The woman at the register claimed this sparse amount of meat was "standard for a 6-inch tortilla" and, unbelievably, rolled her eyes at me. She then stated they couldn't locate my order to issue the refund and "it will be a while as we have a line." I responded, "Don't worry, I'll wait," and patiently stood in line like every other patron. While I did eventually get my refund (verified on the receipt), the entire interaction was unprofessional and dismissive. It's a shame that since the new management has taken over, the quality of both the food and the service has declined so sharply. Final Word! Please save yourself the disappointment. Better to take another 5-minute walk to "Taco Stand"--the quality of both food and service is miles better. This was a truly negative experience, and I will not be returning. Hopefully, they will improve, but for now, look elsewhere. read more

My wife and I attended the Orange Street Fair and, as most do, we walked and explored the various food booths---we did support the Orange High School Lemonade stand---and the many musical performers, but decided to remove ourselves from the large crowd and move indoors at Olde Towne Jalapeños. We have been coming here for decades. It has a great location in Old Towne Orange. The staff are friendly and there to serve. You order at the counter and once you take a seat they will bring you some chips. They have a nice salsa bar with many options. Parking can be a challenge, but there is a parking garage not too far away. They recently remodeled and have a more Mexican flare with bright colors and decorations. I love this place!!! I came here for taco Tuesday and they had a great deal on huge tacos. The meat was so flavorful and juicy. It was also filling because of the large portion size. I helped myself to the sauce bar and my favorite was the hot sauce. It's a must try! It's pretty spicy though. It's creamy yet spicy and it's just perfect. They also provide complimentary chips with your dine in order (not sure about take out bc I've only eaten dine in here) I also really like how you can clearly see the kitchen because the screen between the kitchen and the dining area is separated by clear glass. The food and service were great! I tried a California burrito which was more than enough for 2 people. Chips came out right after we ordered and the salsa bar had plenty of choices (the hot red salsa was my favorite). The burrito came out hot and the quality was definitely there. Super cute and fun ambiance with their recent remodel! Great for a date or place to meet up. Although it's a little loud from the TV, it has a fun vibe and we enjoyed sitting near the windows where there's good people watching on the main street. I'm always looking for a good chile relleno so I got one for lunch. If you don't have time to make them at home and have a craving, this will satisfy it. There is a chips and salsa bar with multiple salsas plus my favorite: pickled jalapeños and carrots. Make sure to try these! I am a Chapman university alumni and I cannot believe in all my 4 years attending that I never came to Jalapenos . . . what a shame!! I would've been here ALL THE TIME! Their loaded carnitas nachos and wet burrito were standouts to us. They also do a heck of a soft ceviche taco. And when one margarita just won't do... why not add a michelada, a paloma, a mule, a sangria, and a mojito to the mix? We were so happy to see they offer all these drinks here!! I came here as part of the Villa Park Women's League dining out subgroup, where we visit local eateries for a specific purpose or unique feature. In this case, they had just remodeled their interiors under new ownership, and vibrant Old Towne Orange is always fun to visit, tough parking notwithstanding. Our party of 10 already had the chips, salsa and puréed guac tableside so we could nosh while we waited for our orders. I ordered the grilled chicken bowl and many of my table mates also ordered bowls (carnitas and carne asada) The bucket of 6 beers for $20 was attractive for us! It's fast casual, remember, so everything from cups to plates and bowls are disposable. The service was brisk and friendly. If I can find easy parking again, I would come here!
