I came here because my husband suggested the place. He had taken pairs of shoes here before. I needed two pairs of shoes to be worked on. I loved both pairs of shoes that I brought in. One is an ankle, leather boot, which the heal/sole was beginning to separate. The other pair was also ankle height, but a suede type (wallabe style). The sole half way separated. I wasn't pleased with the type of customer service from this owner. He showed no customer service manners during my drop off and pick up visit. I looked at the boots quickly and saw that the sole were intact. When I arrived home and looked at the boots later. I saw one pair how the glue was not wiped up completely. After wearing it a week I looked to see how the sole was doing and I could see a slight separation. I didn't expect this having to pay $40 for each pair. I used Gorilla glue to fix the problem. Came in to drop short dress boots off for a shine . He looks at them and says he needs to dye them to restore color . I wipe the dust off with a wet finger and he says " you dont trust me ? " I ask how much , he says $60 . He makes another rude comment when i said i wasnt sure what i paid for the boots Lost all my potential biz at that moment . Had some leather patches I needed sewn on a few items, had a shirt and hat, I gave him as a test and showed placement Shirt came out really nice, placement and stictching were incredible, I didn't like the hat because of the stitching but was actually going to have him do the rest So I give him 11 work shirts thinking I'm going to get the same result as the first Nope! I was I completely wrong, as soon as he showed me the shirts I told him I wanted them how the first was done, he gave me a few excuses but I was just too frustrated to say anything, the placement was off and the stitching looked rushed and completely different than the first I paid him and left as he said there is no way to fix the issue Could've had called before making changes or I would have never given him the shirts Now I have 12 shirts and one hat and only happy with the first shirt I gave him as the tester I definitely won't recommend him for sewing in leather patches read more

Roger could've leaned in for an easy $180 sucker punch for the repair cost, but instead advised that it really wasn't worth it, given the amount of cheap, water-logged cardboard in the soles. May as well get a new USA-made all leather pair and be done dabbling. He placed the $60 cash deposit back in my hand, and wandered off into a pleasant, Dali Llama-like sermon about karma. I wanted to update my review that after wearing some of the shoes that had heels to be re-glued, it feels like when I walk it's already lifting again. A very sloppy job I must say! Roger is incredible! He did a great job re-soling and re-gluing some vintage 60s shoes for me. It was actually my first time bothering to go to a cobbler so i wasn't sure what to expect price-wise but you are truly paying for quality here. He also fixed an old 1940s belt for me free of charge. He told me it would be a few week turn around for the shoes, which I was happy to wait for, and just a couple days later he called me to tell me my shoes were ready! Got a new heal on a pair of boots. Service was great, super friendly and honest. Great price as well. Shoes done quickly and look great.

No attention to details. It's the small details that count. I took in a new pair of leather single monk strap shoes to have the strap removed and add eyelets for shoe laces. I didn't like the strap and I wanted it to be a laced shoe. Simple job nothing too complicated for an experienced shoe cobbler. When I received then it seemed like no measurements were taken in regards to where to cut the strap so that both shoes look the same. And when then it came to the eyelets no measurements were taken for the spacing or the placement of them. Just a really sloppy job. The guy there was quick to blame the machine that it moved when he was doing it. No apology or offer of fixing it. Being the optimist that I am, I said no problem. I figured black shoe laces will cover up the sloppiness of his work. The shoes are ok. Not too noticable unless you look real close. I can live with the shoes. I'm the type of person that will give a business a second chance before I completely write them off and take my business elsewhere. So I decided to bring in a pair black dress shoes that have had their day but still have a little bit of life left in them. The problem with the shoes is that I don't use a shoe horn and I step on the back and the stitching has split and come undone. They just needed to have a small patch of leather to fix the stitch and cover it. When I got the shoes back they did have a patch but the stitching is just awful. Really sloppy work. There is totally no pride in craftsmanship in the work. No matter what craft, skill or trade, one must always take pride in their work. When I explained to the guy that the stitching was sloppy he quickly blamed the machine again. And when I told him that it's the details that matter, with a straight face he quickly recommended to take them to other cobblers here in Vista. I think I was more annoyed by the comments and the nonchalant attitude of no shits given then the shitty work. Along with the shoes I also dropped off a pair of cross strap sandals that I just wanted a buckle strap added to the back of them. Once again really sloppy stitching and no measurements were taken for the placement of the straps. Looks like he just eyeballed it. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me a three times, no thank you. I should have learned my lesson the first time. So beware. Quality matters. Details matter. Craftsmanship matters. There are plenty of other local businesses to support. read more
