It doesn't have much ambiance, the coffee was ok, not much choice of pastries. The service was good.

Just a lovely local coffee shop with a great selection of coffee and pastries. We stumbled across this gem while visiting Carson City, and it became the place we kept coming back to when we were in the area (which was actually quite a bit.) I loved their almond chai lattes, and their cold brew coffee was a big hit with hubby. The people are friendly and the space is spread out. Their outdoor seating area is absolutely beautiful with a wooden fire pit and seating that even during the day seem to all be mostly shaded and comfortable. A lovely place to stop for a rest and break, clean (mostly) bathrooms and ADA compliant. read more

Craft Coffee in Northern Nevada is still in it's toddler years. Reno is a little ahead of the curve compared to Carson City. Most of the coffee I have in Carson is "dark roast", which is code for, one step above Folgers and more like Starbucks. The one place that had real coffee over the last few years closed..... But now, the Heavens have opened and Carson is no longer another craft roastery desert. Old World Coffee has found a spot in the new and updated Curry Street Corridor. The Firefly Roast is a blend, and they don't have single origins on bar as of yet, but for anyone not familiar with OWC in Reno, the Firelfy is a top tier coffee. It's current incarnation is complex yet forgiving enough to still come out as an expressive espresso. The menu is limited right now, but eventually I assume they will have everything on the menu that they sell at their flagship location in Midtown Reno. They took over the coffee bar section of the Union and have made it their own space with white paint on the walls and their own baristas staffing the bar. The current manager is fantastic with her attention to detail and is great with customer service. If you are looking for something sickeningly sweet and not really coffee based...there are other drive thru caffeine delivery businesses in the area. But if you are a true coffee lover I think they will satisfy most of your coffee needs. They also are stocking the Butter and Salt pastries. Lot's of space for meeting up with a handful of friends and the spring and summer looks even more promising because of the large patio. See you there, and cross your fingers that they get to a point where they can offer some of their single origins on espresso....it's truely a treat! read more

The venue is cute & the service was okay. But I was highly disappointed in the milk selections. We tried a vanilla lavender matcha and the seasonal chai. The matcha honestly just tasted like matcha and I threw it away after 2 sips just because it was whole milk and I'm lactose intolerant. The seasonal chai just tasted like ginger beer which is okay but I guess we expected more flavor out of both of the beverages. As someone who has opened up 3 coffee shops, I personally wouldn't come back. But recommend this place if you like simple basic beverages read more

So this place over the past year has changed a number of times. It has gone from The Union, to The Union serving The Hub coffee, then after a couple months closed due to area construction opened serving Old World Coffee Lab. Finally now it's just Old World Coffee Lab - Carson. The sad thing is that they don't serve breakfast anymore which was delicious. The only thing that makes this not a 5/5 is the price. An even $5 for a Mocha is a bit much. I would refer it to be around the $3-4 mark which make it an even $5 after tip. It use to be $4.50 when The Union was serving. I don't think I will be back as often as I use to because paying $6-6.50 for a cup of coffee is ridiculous but on the rare occasion will probably me a visit. Was close to giving it a 3/5 but figured it was better than A-Ok so 4/5 sufficed. read more

I got a Chai latte and I don't remember what the other drink was, but both were amazing and I loved the spices they used in each. We hung outside on the patio and enjoyed the sun and a waffle (also amazing) with our drinks. I have come here multiple times always with a great experience. I tend to order off the seasonal part of the menu with great results. A few months ago I had a lavender flavored coffee and it was so good. I just had the peppermint bark coffee and it was the taste of the season. We are on a road trip and decided to stop in OWC Roasters. What an amazing find! We ordered their summer drinks, the jamberry latte and the cubano latte. We asked for them less sweet. We also ordered a hot chocolate for our son. All drinks were so great! My jamberry latte is one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had. The Baristas were so nice and helpful and provided these great recommendations. The shop was clean and had a nice welcoming layout. They also have outdoor seating if you're bringing along your pet. If you're in the area, definitely stop in this place. It's worth it! read more

We were on a trip from Tahoe to Reno and stopped by Carson city for a stroll. Found this coffee shop in the neighborhood and we really enjoyed their special flavors - lavender honey latte, and matcha latte! The coffee shop was spacious with lots of seating (both indoor and outdoor). Loved the vibe of the outside especially! The logo really fits with the aesthetic of the coffee shop as well. There is a ton of space both inside and outside...almost too much space. I'm not sure if it's what they're going for, but there's so much room between the seating inside and the area where you order. I guess it's good for busy days & it won't get too tight inside. I ordered a cold brew because that's my go-to drink, & I was not disappointed:-) Since I got it for here, it was served in a tall glass with lots of ice. I could have been happier with less ice, but it was still good! Next time I come, I will definitely try their blue bouquet tea because it just sounds soo good. read more

I stopped by here on Saturday, March 16, 2019. I couldn't find a new restaurant called the Squeeze In that just opened, so I asked them for directions. After I found it, on the way back, I stopped in here again. It is located at the southeast corner of N. Curry St. and W. Proctor St., next to the Mainstreet Atrium office complex, in the back part of The Union (which itself is located on N. Carson St., but goes through the Old World Coffee Lab to the outdoor seating section on N. Curry St.). It used to be all just The Union, but apparently they rented the coffee shop part out. I saw servers going from The Union, through Old World Coffee Lab, and then to customers in the outside seating space on N. Curry St.. Old World Coffee Lab opened Friday, March 1, 2019, according to two news articles: https://carsonnow.org/story/03/06/2019/coffee-scientists-old-world-coffee-lab-open-carson-city-branch-inside-union-brewery and https://www.nevadaappeal.com/news/local/old-world-coffee-lab-opens-in-the-union-in-downtown-carson-city/ The grand opening is going on from Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17, where they are offering buy one, get one (BOGO) free coffees. They are open from 7 AM to 4 PM, seven days a week. There is plenty of two hour street parking nearby, as well as a free public lot right across N. Curry St., which also limits you to two hours. It looks like a very welcoming place. There is an outdoor seating area as you enter, with a fire pit and flowers. As I said above, it belongs to The Union, but I don't think they will mind if customers of this coffee shop sit there. I saw two people sitting there. The first time I entered, I saw a nice waitress from The Union who was serving the people. Then you enter into the cafe part inside, which has a counter, some items for sale, and seating. When I entered, there was one woman there working on her computer. There is guest wifi, but it requires a password. The employee who greeted to me was very polite. I could also see a hallway to The Union on N. Carson St., but I did not go in. I saw plenty of people walking by on the sidewalk, curious to what the place was, and happy there was a fire pit. Meh-. The building gets the most props. It's a beautifully designed and orchestrated coffee shop located behind the Union. The courtyard must be amazing in the summer months. My experience with the lady who served us was less than appealing. It felt as if she couldn't be bothered with us and put in little effort as far as customer service. Slouched over the counter, there was not a smile or inkling of personality to be had. When my boyfriend asked a question, she offered a condescending retort. Were we too old? Not hipster? Whatever. She missed our usual generous tip. I don't actually drink coffee but am trying so I ordered their special - an apple pie latte. It might have been interesting if it were hot. It wasn't even lukewarm. Their cinnamon bun was dry and flavorless as if they'd forgotten the butter and sugar. The overly baked cookie was the best part of the experience. My BF reported that his americano was passable. We both ended up throwing most of our drinks away. I skipped the food completely. read more

We've gone here twice, and both times have been great experiences. The service is very helpful and patient with all my questions. They have traditional drinks, and very interesting specials. Our visits have both been after our visits the the Nevada State History Museum, which is also a must-see of your into Nevada, history, museums, or just a great way to sirens a couple hours. My husband and I are moving to the area in the next 6 months and are looking for "our" new coffee spot. I went on Saturday afternoon, wanting to love it. The atmosphere is just lovely. The outdoor patio is wonderful and inviting. The interior is equally inviting. I didn't immediately see a menu and then realized it was printed on a small card on the counter. The menu small, but I found something I thought would be good. Since it was late in the day, I thought I'd grab a baked good or something, but the only item was one cookie. Again, probably the lack of selection was due to the late time of day. Though my husband and I did come back Sunday morning and there still wasn't any selection. 1 muffin and 2 cookies. We went elsewhere. The problem I had was that the people working there just weren't friendly. I don't expect some exuberant welcome, but they didn't say "hi" or act moderately interested to take my order. I'm all about customer service, in my job, so it was offputting to me. When I went to pay with cash, they told me I needed to pay with a card for some unintelligible reason. I'm presuming Covid? The latte was a bit small for the price, and while it was ok, it didn't really have very distinct vanilla or lavender taste. I know my review is WAY below what others have written, so maybe my experience was just an off afternoon for both of us. read more

Such a "bespoke" type coffee venue. Come here for what the beans offer, as that is the specialty. Food is more of an afterthought if you are starving. Fresh take on espresso drinks, I had the maple sage latte and it was perfectly unique & delicious. Very chic atmosphere and the baristas were very hip without any rudeness (and even helpful as my friend had just torn her puffer coat & male barista had some sage advice-ha ha- for Rei tape to mend).
