Loved the ability to taste the vinegars but then I spent $120 there very easily. Great spot for the chef in your life. Level up your own dishes and give the best gift of them all for your friends and family. Featuring over 50 olive oils and balsamic vinegars, Old World Olive Press has a tasting center where you are invited to sample before you buy. Old World also carries some spices, plus truffle, grapeseed, walnut and sesame oils. The olive oils are all first-press, meaning the olives are pressed only once, using a cold-press technique so the oils contain the maximum amount of nutrients and antioxidants. Old World also follows a one variety, one estate rule, each oil originates from one place only. The oils come in a variety of flavors. Many are fused with other flavors or infused with spice. The balsamic vinegars are all barrel-aged for 12 to 18 years, some are also flavored. This store's private label olive oils and vinegars are similar (even the same) as what you will find in many other places. Most of them are flavored, so not super high quality. However, some of the flavors are delicious. I am fond of the golden pineapple vinegar and the rosé balsamic. Blend these with some olive oil and dress up your greens to brighten up these cold winter days. The store also sells some spices and wine. It's nothing too exciting, but a good place to stop for a quick gift or something to easily shift your cooking or salad without a lot of work. read more

These type of businesses are popping up all over. I've dropped in on several and they are EXACTLY the same. I wonder where they get the oils and vinegars that they put in those pretty metal containers. The oldest balsamic is 18 yrs. The oils are good but a bit pricey. I'm not sure I believe the song and dance that the teenage behind the counter is pitching. I asked for more details and she looked really really confused. If you want a pretty little bottle of oil or vinegar go get some. They make really sweet gifts for your snooty foody friends :) read more

Terrible customer service. Placed an order on November 11 , 2010 and still haven't received it. They have given me the run around for weeks, promised tracking numbers and over night delivery until I'm exhausted. Incompetence is a way of life for these people. I have literally spoken to every person at the Rockford and Plymouth stores in the last month. No one cares at all about the customer. They seem to think that delivery of their merchandise is optional and can't understand why someone would be upset when they haven't received an order after almost a month. Hint: If you want to order from them for Christmas, get the order in in April or May and pray that they can deliver. They are named appropriately "Old World", since they appear to be delivering their products by Rickshaw or Chariot. read more

Truffle oil? Why do these people hate me? Have you ever seen a dog try and scrape off it's tongue after encountering mustard? Yeah. That was me after the truffle oil. I just don't see how this place's business model works. I mean if I want ginger flavored vinegar I'll just... OH WAIT. I have never wanted ginger flavored vinegar. Especially since I tasted it here. (This place gets two stars because its employees were nice--but I still wake in a cold sweat thinking of that truffle oil.) read more

Not what I was expecting, if you like fruity oils and vinegars with things like blood orange, chocolate, mango, bacon, etc. added, then this place is for you. Imagine a new wine store opens up in your town, and you're excited to check it out, but when you get there you realize that every bottle is from one vineyard, and every bottle is flavored with some sort of fruit or herb. Pinot Grigio + Strawberries, Cabernet + Peach, Malbec + Chocolate.....where the hell is the normal wine??? That basically sums up my experience here, 95% of everything sold has some fruity additive. If that sounds good to you, you will be in heaven. If you are a chef/cook, or just appreciate actual cold pressed EVOO, then I would order on Amazon or if you have a lot of money just go to Zingermans. There are several famous families/estates from Spain, Greece, Italy, Cyrus, Tunisia, California, etc. that produce very affordable world class olive oils that you can purchase on Amazon for under $20 a bottle (my favorite is Rincón de la Subbetica from Spain) So when I discovered there was an olive oil store in my hometown of Plymouth, I was excited. My main problem with this place is they aren't an olive oil store, as they only sell one brand, their own, Old World Olive Oils. I was disappointed to find every oil had some strange ingredient, either basil, lemon, garlic, etc. The prices didn't seem too unreasonable and they offered tasting. I am glad that at least they put their products in dark glass bottles, as opposed to clear or green glass, which makes Olive Oil less prone to light pollution and becoming rancid. read more

I think I'm in love with this place! I kept meaning to stop in but never did. Well, my friend convinced me to tag along for a cooking demo and... I'm so glad that I went. I wanted to buy pretty much everything in the store! Now I admit, if you're not a cook this wouldn't be your type of place. If you are someone who enjoys cooking? Go here! Buy stuff! Went in looking for a cilantro garlic balsamic vinegar purchased at a similar shop in South Haven. The woman working was very friendly but said that type of balsamic doesn't exist and she knew because most of the olive oil/balsamic stores purchase from a mass quantity distributor. What a disappointment. Go if you like fruity balsamic vinegars since they have a wide variety. I was disappointed in the limited product knowledge of the employee and know-it-all attitude when I asked for a specific type of balsamic she swore doesn't exist. I really wanted to pull up the product from the other company and show her, but realized it wasn't worth the time and effort. read more

It was my first time in a place that just sold olive oil and vinegars. I enjoyed trying all the flavors but the two that made an impression (and prompted me to buy) were the Tuscan Herb and the Wild Mushroom and Sage. The Tuscan Herb was an oil that may be used often in common Italian dishes but a step up from the oils you'd find in a specialty store. The Wild Mushroom and Sage rocked my world a little bit when I cooked with it. It gives meat dishes that extra 'something' that you can't quite pinpoint but makes your taste buds that much happier eating it. I highly recommend it- if you're in the area, go sample it! read more

This place is so cool. I never knew there were so many varieties of balsamic and olive oil. What I especially liked is that you could taste each one, and even mix together a vinegar and oil to see how they tasted together. The employee suggested I try the espresso balsamic which, oddly, tastes more like chocolate than the dark chocolate balsamic. Paired with the blood orange oil, it's out of sight. It will run you about $30 for an oil and vinegar pair, but it's worth it. read more

After buying their products I found them to be much less than expected. With some research on the company i found that they use products from a distributor known as "Veronicas". Apparantly there are far better products in the market than this dist. Also, their Plymouth location stinks! read more
