AbsoluYe Olde Forge was a great find. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and while it may look like a roadside stop, it is absolutely worth the detour. The onion bites were a fantastic alternative to onion rings and dangerously easy to keep eating. The beer list reads like a who's who of great choices, and the wings were excellent, possibly the best I've had in recent memory. The buffalo sauce was especially well done, with just enough heat to know it is there, but still approachable even for someone who does not usually go for spice. The real highlight, though, was Joyce. She absolutely personified great customer service. Friendly, attentive, thoughtful, and on top of everything without ever overdoing it. Honestly, the level of care she gave rivaled service at a five-star resort. I wish Joyce could follow me around to every meal I have. She was that good. Been driving past for six years and finally stopped. Let me stress, we arrived at 5 PM. Extensive selection of beers, including over 20 on tap. We are ordered the double dip, Buffalo chicken and spinach artichoke. It took over twenty minutes for the dips, even tho the place was half empty. We had a feeling the entrees would arrive shortly and we were right. Halfway thru the dips the entrees arrived. Chicken piccata was bland, and the pasta was overcooked. The sauce was watery and there was only a slight taste of lemon. Not at all what it should have been. Haddock was obviously fresh, but again, bland. Served in a bath of butter, but no herbs, no discernible seasoning. Services was attentive, beers were cold, if somewhat overpriced. Don't know that I'll be back. read more

10/18/25 second visit. I said to the owner that we were here for 7 days and came to Olde Forge two times. This is certainly the place to hit while in the Berkshires. This is the old world tavern feel. I love the entrance with the brick walls and saloon doors to the dining. The bar I'd loaded with patrons and you can see all the beer steins hanging above head. Tonight I started with their delicious maple old fashioned! Then I ordered their onion soup....delicious. We also ordered the nachos which were per her as well. I asked Ashley our waitress what the signature dish was, she said the wings so we ordered a dozen. They were outstanding and delicious, crispy! For dinner I got their delicious burger with bacon and cheddar and fries, great stuff. My friends had the pork shoulder which they said was delicious and looked tender. My wife had the butter buttered chicken sandwich which She enjoyed. Again, this is a must hit spot. Go early and catch the sunset on the porch! Ashley was an awesome waitress and very friendly. 10/13/25 We had an awesome dinner at Olde Forge. Jessica our waitress took great care of us and her service was spot on. It's been a few days since we were there so I don't remember all the dishes, my apologies. I do regret the Mac n cheese was delicious and creamy! The quesadilla was great as well. Fine bar food and nice selection of beers. The appetizers all sounded really good, but the ones we got (waffle fries, tater tot keg, mozzarella sticks) were fine but a bit bland. The famous wings were good. The hot dog was really good (and really big per the name). The butternut squash quesadilla didn't really work in my opinion either. The restaurant easily fit our group of 16, although they seemed a bit unprepared even though we'd called twice (once a month before and once the day before) to check to make sure our group size would be okay. read more

I seem to go here once every three years because I want to love it. I want to experience and understand what some of my North County friends talk fondly about. This was visit 3 for me. I'm sorry. I just can't. Two stars for the wings being cooked really well and the waitstaff being really nice. That's where it ends. The wing sauces are runny and all taste the same with slightly different levels of soy sauce/salt in them. Not helping is the taste of oil that needs to be changed in the fryer. The sandwiches and entrees are meh. Burgers OK. My advice on them is keep it simple and you'll be ok. The beverage program (including soft drinks and alcohol) is airport priced. We don't drink, yet ran up a $20 tab on Diet Coke. That's 1/5 the cost of what a 5gal bag-in box syrup costs them. Criminal. Don't get me started on the $16 (unlimited) or $10 (single trip) salad bar. If staff wasn't standing around it - I would have taken photos. A complete mess. I just don't see it. It is kind of amazing how this place manages to have such unfriendly staff. The owner (I haven't seen in a while) was very rude, so I guess it comes from the top. If it wasn't for the delicious wings, we would never come here. But every once in a while we break down and get the wings to go (the rest of the menu is mediocre). Excellent service, food and atmosphere. We went for lunch and were seated within 60 seconds. The servers worked very well together both asking if we needed anything. My husband said the wings were outstanding. I got a pretzel that was the best ever and piping hot. I ordered the chicken Forge style with a beautiful flavorful mushroom sauce , real mashed potatoes and a very large helping of fresh crisp green beans. Everything was hot and delicious. Definitely deserves 4 or 5 stars for drinks but it stops there. Kind of felt taken advantage of with the prices of the food and quality. The supposedly fabulous chicken wings cost over $2.00 each piece, crazy. Also felt the burger was not a 1/2 lb of beef, it didn't even cover the bun. The service was acceptable. The staff was friendly and pretty fast. However, the most important, the food, wasn't up to par. We ordered a Mojito Salmon and we said ,"it's not edible!" The mojito sauce tasted like liquid sugar that a diabetic could commit suicide with it. The rice that we thought was fried rice--we were corrected that it was steamed. Either way, we said it's not fully cooked! The server asked us, "would you like more rice?" Finally, we said, "it's not edible!" The folks here are genuinely nice people who are able keep the wait list in their head as more and more people line up during the dinner rush. The bar seems like it's been here forever with personal beer steins hanging from the rafters. And did I mention the root beer comes straight from the tap too? This is like the cool local watering hole that every place in Brooklyn strives to be... but it's for real. This is my first time here. We are in town to take care of a few things and staying at the Wyndham pretty close and our front desk staff told us about the Olde Forge. The food was great! I ordered what was called Etoufee. Never heard of it before. It was sausage, chicken, and shrimp all in a spicy sauce and some steamed white rice. I really enjoyed this meal. We did have 4 adults and 3 kids in our party and it took quite a while for our food to come out. Also took a while for drink refills. Not sure if they were busy or just don't typically have a larger party dine there. All in all we really enjoyed the food. We did enter from the bottom level. Not sure if that is a customer entrance or not. Once again we are not from around here haha read more

I went there twice with my colleague. Every time we went there to have a draft beer, locally brewed and great testing chicken wings. Definitely if you want to have a nice ambience and highly attentive servers definitely you should try it. I guess it is most visit at Pittsfield area. read more

STAY AWAY!! Aside from the decor, this is one of the worst restaurants you could ever have the misfortune to come across. The wait is long (tourists who don't know to stay away), the food is overpriced and mediocre, but the biggest problem is the owner. One time I called to ask what the wait was for a table for 4. They wouldn't tell me. They said the owner won't allow it. My home is 45 min from the restaurant and I just wanted to know what the wait was then, not a crystal ball for 45 min later but they refused. Another time, I was in the area. On a snowy night he told me, my wife and two kids to wait OUTSIDE instead of in the waiting area and in the nastiest tone. So we left. Finally, one time we sat down and when the female server took our beverage order I asked for water with lemon and she said the owner says no lemon allowed with water. I said that's impossible. She then said that he's cheap, nasty, and treats his customers and workers like garbage. So I asked to speak to him. He came to the table and before I could even speak said "You want some lemon? You can buy an actual drink from the bar. You're not getting lemon with water for free!" So we got up and left and never came back. Since then, one of his own disgruntled employees tried to burn the place down! That should tell you something. Oh and did I mention the food is OVERPRICED and MEDIOCRE???? read more

We had heard the restaurant was popular with the locales so we looked forward to the experience. We went early since the place can get packed later. We waited seven minutes for the hostess to seat us despite many available tables and servers standing around. We did not leave because the bartender advised someone will be with us shortly. We were seated in a dark corner of the restaurant despite empty tables next to windows. Not knowing their operations, we stayed in the spot. The server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the beer selections. In order to determine which beer to drink with our entrees, my husband requested 3 tastings at $2.00 each. Once he found the right beer, it was very good. Our meal was tasty and plentiful. Overall, we would not return because we did not feel welcomed as compared to other restaurants. read more

We had a great dinner here after snowboarding all day! We started with some drinks - the hard ginger beer and the strawberry downeast cider. Both drinks were amazing! The ginger beer was absolutely delicious and not too gingery. Then we had their Buffalo wings with ranch. The buffalo sauce was the perfect amount of spice and had a smooth buttery taste to it. The wings were a little too crispy in my opinion, but others seemed to really enjoy that aspect. Next we had the larger house salad with Italian dressing on the side, we shared this with 2 people and it was the perfect amount for each of us to have a decent serving of salad. The salad came with warm bread and butter which was a great addition. Last, we shared their new vegetarian "chicken" sandwich and it was a pleasant surprise. The "chicken" actually had an amazing taste and texture. They topped the sandwich with a great combo of veggies and sauce that made the sandwich just perfect. The fries were very eh but we were pretty full at this point anyways. Overall, great food, quick service, and very cute ambiance. The service here needs training. The girl who served us didn't explain the menu well. Whenever she explained anything, there was something odd that she failed to mention- like how the artichoke dip and chicken dip are merged. The appetizers took ages to come out. After I asked to make sure that the main dishes didn't come out at the same time as specified when the order was taken, they came out barely 5 minutes later. When I noted it, our server just blamed the kitchen. Menus were never cleared. She forgot about putting in a drink order. Dirty dishes took ages to clear. And after saying that the sides could be switched out, they charged for sides. The point is that the communication was just unclear. And it was just an accumulation of missteps of bad service and ambivalence. When she offered that we asked to speak to the owner, he just didn't bother to come over, even when I asked again to see him. He just really didn't care. read more

Very nice atmosphere, with old school tavern feel with plenty of beer themed decorations. Huge and varied beer menu and outdoor patio with nice views of the mountains. Food menu had a good variety including vegetarian options. We had the mushrooms for an appetizer and they were very tasty with just the right amount of garlic. Our server was very attentive. I get the restaurant service is very tough and never been tougher (heard the owner actually talking about it to a local) but it's odd to me, that if you're an owner why don't you greet your customers or see how things are going? I was just hear with my mom because I like the food, but you know a lot of places have solid food. I just get weird vibes here like some of the staff really doesn't want to be there...and if they don't, why would I want to be? Would have given them 3.5 if I could of...but I'd rather round up. I want to say this place I used to work is interesting. The man that owns it does not have no respect for all the female workers that work there. He looks down on everybody that works for him he screams at his employees in front of customers with no regards. He has a bunch of Great Staff females and guys that take his BS for many years. Half of the female staff there are barely 23 years of age And me a longer working there I want to speak the truth about him. I personally will recommend anybody if they want to work there to do your research before you apply. I was a good worker and he let me go because I didn't want to let go of my first job for that job and work more hours for him than my first job. And also me being totally honest when I worked there last I felt so paranoid like I was living back on the streets of New York City but I still Fought through it to work and to get the job done efficiently and he still let me go. All his staff that work for him work their butt off and I think they are all really awesome and I feel extremely bad for them. And the most crazy part is that two days ago when I was working. He pulled me aside and told me "I really like your work ethics and I want you to work for me more.". But now he let me go two days later for no apparent reason but it's OK just do your research. I want to say what you should look out for if you apply to work there for him. He is big on Micro managing everything. He is also big on Not letting you finish your sentence to make you feel like you've done something wrong. And also not care what you have to say because what he say is right over everybody else. He also have a temper and yes restaurant Work is not easy. But at the same time you should not scream at your staff in front of customers and belittle them in front of customers. And also I feel like he has very bad memory. Because multiple times when I was in front of him he told certain waiters to do certain things. And they were doing those things. And then later on he was like "why did you do that.". I just personally think him as a person just be very careful working for him because I noticed everybody that works for him started at a young age when they were developing as a young person. read more

Been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. Service was prompt and attentive in a rustic environment. Place was quite busy for a Monday and filled mostly with what looked like locals. Food was excellent but portion size has definitely been reduced with a hefty increase in prices since my last visit a year ago. The onion chips are a must have and used to come out over flowing in a basket, tonight skimpy portion in a casserole dish....very disappointing. We have eaten and drank here for years. Getting a seat at the bar doesn't happen often, the same people are sitting there everytime we go. There wings are the very best, always very Crispy. The Buff Orphingtons are to die for. Service is spotty, be prepared to wait. If the owner is there, things in the dining room move much more smoothly. The interior was like a rustic tavern. They had a multi-page menu of just beers, I was impressed. The basement of that place must be stocked full of beer to keep up with that inventory. I tried a local beer and for a 2ndround, ordered a draft german beer. They are know for their wings, so we had to try them and out. Of course they were awesome as well. The owner does a good job of being a field general. Moving chairs here, sending the busboy there, checking on a table on the other side. He really stays on top of things.
