    Shepherds Pie

Olde Main Street Pub is an inviting Irish-style pub & restaurant tucked along historic Essex Street in downtown Salem. It's open Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 AM. On our first night in Salem, my friends and I chose this place for dinner, and we were immediately glad we did. Every dish tasted homemade and full of flavor, and the service, especially from our server Elisha, was warm, attentive, and personable. We started with the charred broccoli mac & cheese, which arrived piping hot and baked to perfection. Every bite was rich, creamy, and delicious. Honestly, it's up there with the best mac & cheeses I've ever had. For entrées, we shared the shepherds pie and the steak tips. The shepherds pie, made with a hearty mix of lamb, beef, peas, carrots, house mashed, and cheddar cheese, was fresh and perfectly balanced. The steak tips were cooked to our liking, tender, and seasoned beautifully. Both dishes were comforting and satisfying. Olde Main Street Pub delivered exactly what we were hoping for: great food, genuine service, and a cozy atmosphere. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in Salem.

From the time the hostess greeted us at the door and took good care in guiding us to our seats, I knew we were in great hands! We had lunch during a busy Saturday (9/20/2025), at the Olde Main Street Pub in downtown Salem, Massachusetts. My fish 'n chips were as delicious as I remembered them being in Ireland, and my daughter loved her pulled pork sandwich (she added onion and stuff from my granddaughter's cheeseburger), and my granddaughter said her cheeseburger was good but the fries were the best she'd ever had! She gobbled them all up! We had a great fun time and it didn't break the bank!

Half chicken dinner and Shepard's Pie

Came here on the weekend before Halloween for dinner and it was packed! We waited on line to be seated and their system was very organized and attentive. After being seated, we ordered some pumpkin beers and for our entrees we got the half chicken dinner and the shepards pie. It's classic pub food in there with the classic brews as well. The chicken was tender with the savory gravy and smooth mash. A little salty but was great overall. My friend said her Shepard's pie was pretty good with a nice mince lamb stew topped with buttery mash and cheese. The portions here were huge and entrees could definitely be shared. Overall a great pub in Salem!

I had such a great experience at Olde Main Street Pub in Salem. From start to finish, everything hit the spot. We started with the fries and curry--absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and the kind of dish you keep going back to even when you say "just one more bite." The Caesar salad was also really well done, perfectly dressed without being overdressed, crisp and fresh. The highlight, though, was the shepherd's pie with lamb. It was rich, savory, and so comforting. We honestly thought we'd have leftovers to bring home, but it was way too hard to stop eating--it disappeared quickly! The atmosphere is warm and cozy with comfortable lighting, and it feels like a spot where locals and visitors alike gather, which makes for a really nice vibe. The staff was wonderful--though we technically had one waiter, it felt like we had three because everyone was so attentive and helpful. If you're in Salem and want a cozy, welcoming spot with excellent food and a great crowd, Olde Main Street Pub is definitely worth a stop.

A cozy pub in Salem, just a block from the Witch Museum, is the perfect spot to pop into while exploring the town! ‍We arrived around 4:45, just before their 5 PM dinner service began, and the line moved quickly--we were seated within 20-30 minutes. Pro tip: arrive earlier for drinks before dinner starts, and you'll smoothly transition into dinner time while avoiding the wait. We were seated outside on the patio with pretty views of the streets. As the sun set, the charming streets lit up, and it was fun to people-watch, especially with everyone dressed up in October. The inside had a cozy atmosphere too, but the outdoor vibes were perfect for a fall evening. For appetizers, we had the burrata arancini and curry fries. The fries, in particular, were a pleasant surprise--the curry was delicious and complemented the fries perfectly. I also tried the pumpkin Shipyard beer, which tasted just like pumpkin and added to the fall feel of the evening For our main dishes, I had the shepherd's pie, which arrived with an oozy layer of cheese on top and was scrumptious. My boyfriend had the steak tips, and he loved them. The fish & chips were also quite good. I was really happy with the food and service, but what truly made the experience special was the location. It's the perfect spot to enjoy great food while soaking in the charm of Salem!

This place really surprised me. Being right in the center of Salem, I thought it might be popular because of the location but this place shocked me with how yummy all the food was! We had the chicken liver mouse and house made curry fries to start. Both delicious. I had the pork tenderloin as my main which I highly recommend. Pork is hard to cook without being dry but this was cooked perfectly. And ended with the sticky toffee pudding. Amazing! Service was fast and attentive even though it went from empty to no seat open during the time we were there. And it's a true Irish style pub, feels like you're in a true local spot. I will be back!

What a beautiful little lunch spot in Salem! Brings the warmth and coziness of an English/Irish pub to the streets of historical Salem. Just a block from the Witch Museum and down the street from the old graveyard. Perfect place to pop in for a bite while doing touristy things. We started off on the patio but were rained out. The staff was incredibly accommodating and kind. Making sure we weren't too soaked and our food was ok. Speaking of food, the burrata arancini starter is a must try. Truly the best arancini i've ever had. We both got the burger and I am still thinking of the bacon jam. It made the whole burger.

Finally some decent grub! Boston as a whole was not living up to the hype in terms of food for us. This is not to say that food was necessarily bad, just that we expected more. After our trolley tour in Salem, we chose to have lunch at the Olde Main Street Pub. It looks like we made it just in time as they close between lunch and dinner. He ordered a burger; I had a pasta dish with chicken, broccoli, and plenty of cheese. It was hearty and oh so filling. I really enjoyed this meal and just in general watching the tourists (much like myself) walk on by and get souvenirs. I would revisit if in the area.

My husband thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips. I thought that they were quite soggy and not crispy enough. I did think the taste of the fish was fantastic and super fresh. Service was wonderful and even with a line they were attentive and quickly seating people. Fun location.

Delicious lunch, friendly waitstaff, and an overall great deal. Only gripe was the water, which tasted like it was from old tap piping.

I loved the vibe and interior of The Tavern - it was spooky and old timey. You could see and feel the history of this hotel and it was awesome to experience. The dining room had a bunch of tables, but did not feel overcrowded. The Tavern is a great place to grab a drink and relax. It would also make great for a romantic date night.
