I went for the smoked turkey (perfection), my stepson tackled the ribs (fall-off-the-bone goodness), and my husband devoured the smoked wings Smoked mac n' cheese and green beans that tasted like they were made with love in my Nanas house, that cornbread 10/10 THE RANCH. I have never tasted ranch so good in my life. Whatever secret recipe they've got going on, it's pure gold. Everything is homemade, and you can tell this little barbecue spot knows their craft. There's a small seating area for roughly 12 people that is air conditioned, as well as an outdoor area. Service is spectacular. Super friendly and patient! The food - you can tell lots of love goes into this grub! We got a half a one of pulled pork, a small onion ring, and a catfish sandwich that came with a side. We opted for baked beans that were hearty and delicious. A generous portion for sure. The catfish is absolutely fantastic- highly recommend!!!! Comes with all the toppings. Get the pickled red onion. The pulled pork was tender and wonderful. Onion rings were tasty too. The sauces are also all great. I wish we lived closer and weren't just traveling. This would be on regular rotation! Try this spot out! Came here for dinner with a friend on a work trip and would go back again for certain! We shared the platter - pulled pork, ribs, brisket, collard greens, and Mac and cheese. The pulled pork was decent, but the ribs and the brisket were amazing! My favorite being the ribs. The collard greens and mac were also very good! Little salty for the greens but I loved it. The bbq sauce and the whole meal was awesome. The staff were friendly and we actually ran into a cook who is from San Diego which is where my coworker was from also. We finished with the pudding and oh boy was that a blast from the past. Took me back to being a kid and having banana pudding with vanilla wafers at grandmas. Ambiance is a small house style building that is next to a gas station. Don't let it fool you, they know what they're doing for bbq. If I wasn't across the country I'd go back here quite often! Our second visit and it was just as amazing as the first time. My kids loved the Mac&Cheese and the brisket. This place is always busy, a testament to the quality of the food. We decided to take ours to go this time. It was well packaged and everything we needed to eat on the go was provided. Service is friendly and prompt. It is a small casual environment. I wanted to go higher but the temperature of the food prevented that from happening. Everything that was supposed to be hot needed to be hotter. The place is small. Like 5 parking spots and 6 tables small. The menu is large with plenty of options. Everything was good. Service was fast. The food just wasn't hot. They only have a few tables so I recommend take out. Let's get to the food. WOW! Just WOW! $11 gets a gigantic pork sandwich with choice of 2 sauces, pickled red onions, cole slaw or pickle on side if you want and regular side, I order smoked mac n cheese which was fairly good. OMG! We were visiting and in the hopes of good 'ol Southern BBQ and definitely found it here. Our group of six put some tables together and we were able to eat in the very small space inside. We ordered one of the family meals and it did not disappoint. The brisket is the most tender meat we have ever had and the sides were incredible! We ordered the apples, mac and cheese and sweet potatoes and all were delicious. We spoke to a man that was a regular and said that it was better since it was purchased and under new ownership so if you've gone before and it was only so-so, you must give it a go now! The guys working were super helpful and polite. They serve the food in plastic to-go containers so if there are leftovers, you just ask for lids and you are good to go. We asked if we could DoorDash to our home in Vegas, but it was a no-go. We will definitely be back when in Richmond again! read more

Super good! We ordered the half pound of pulled pork, brisket, smoked mac n cheese, green beans and collards. Everything was absolutely delicious! The price was very reasonable as well. My boyfriend even commented that the brisket was better than ZZQ, which is a huge deal because he loves ZZQ. Phenomenal! We had to make a trip out to Mechanicsville and wanted to try something different than our usual go to spots. Olde Towne Smokehouse came up on Yelp so we thought we would give it a try. Wow! The flavor is unbelievable. I had the brisket sandwich and a side of smoked Mac n cheese. My husband had The Desperado sandwich with the cowboy baked beans. I opted for the Hanover tomato bbq sauce and he got the hot sauce. Sauces come on the side as well as a perfect size container of slaw for topping. Honestly, the food is so good that sauce is not needed but the sauces are very delicious. The Hanover tomato bbq sauce was so good, I even drizzled a little into the smoked Mac n cheese. It's very small, but the service and food were some of the best we have had in quite a while. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area! read more

Absolutely great little bbq place. Pulled pork and fatty brisket were fabulous and every side we had was as good as the meats. Nice touches like really good pickle slices and pickled onions show a level of care you don't always see. Coleslaw and hush puppies are super and all the sauces are good. But the unexpected standout of the menu is the catfish sandwich. It arrived screaming hot from the fryer and was fresh and delicious. Best fried fish I have had in a long time. Great indoor seating and outdoor (when the weather works) My husband got the pulled pork sandwich with potato salad and was impressed with not only the portion size but the flavor was great. Yay!! A BBQ place in Mechanicsville right near our house! This place is situated not in the most ideal location but the food is well worth it and top notch! My family was visiting from CA and it, being a Monday, not many BBQ spots in RVA were open. However I stumbled upon Olde Towne and I'm so glad I did! We had a little bit of everything! We had the pulled pork, brisket, ribs, sweet potatoes, coleslaw, mac n cheese, hushpuppies and corn bread. I was not a fan of the different sauces because it tasted a little too spicy for me but my husband enjoyed them! But I didn't think any of the meat needed the sauce honestly. All of the meat was cooked to perfection and was so tender! I can't choose a favorite because it was all delicious. All the sides were delicious too. My favorite had to be the Smokey Mac n cheese and the corn bread. The corn bread tasted homey and was amazing! We were able to order online which was quick and easy to use. I'm so glad we finally have a contender for great BBQ in the area. The new owners seem to really know what they're doing. Service was amazing, sides were delicious, and the entrees were so great, I had to go back and order seconds. If there is any downside to the place, it's seating. Plenty of outdoor tables, but on a hot summer day, indoor seats are hard to come by. I hope their success continues and expansion is in their future. read more

You have to ask for sauce. The side of potato salad wasn't very good. I ended up not finishing either. I do like how they renovated the seating area but there was no one else there but me and the tables were dirty. Think they could have wiped them down. read more

Our family enjoyed everything we purchased here. The pork and brisket were delicious with or without sauces. We also had hush puppies, cucumber salad, french fries and collard greens. Each side tasted amazing but my personal favorite was the cucumber salad, which was the best I've ever had (so were the hush puppies). The food came with cornbread. It was very good but a little sweet for me. The only thing we wish they served was mashed potatoes or potato salad. We loved the small homey family vibes of this place. Keep in mind it's very tiny. Most people just order pickup. There are a few seats inside along with one restroom, and some seating outside but that's about it.
