Olde Towne Tavern is a pretty good bar. It has a nice happy hour. The bar isn't that crowded most of the time. It also has some food. This goes beyond the typical bar stuff. I had a vodka and tonic. It's about $3 at happy hour. The drink was good but I was kind of hungry too. Luckily it has some food. There's a pretty good size menu that has better options than fried junk. I had the vegan chili. It's about $3 for a cup. The chili is a simple looking recipe. It doesn't look that good but it tastes better. The rest of the menu has some options for vegetarians. It was a cool atmosphere. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out tonight. It was kind of spur of the moment, but we were delighted with out experience. First, happy hour went until 7 which was a great surprise for us! We both got 1/2 off of our drinks and started with the veggie nachos. They were the highlight of my dinner! It was tough to decide what to eat as the menu had such a variety. We could've gotten Italian, traditional bar food, or Tex-Mex. We both opted for Tex-Mex and were happy with our choices. Great drinks and food at a good value. Very friendly service as well. It was covid safe with plexi glass barriers between every table. There is also outdoor seating with a fire pit that we hope to visit next time it's not 30 degrees :) Fish tacos were amazing. Perfectly fried fish that wasn't too oily. Small bar, extremely loud. Music volume was at like 90. Conversations were yelling matches. Waitress was okay, but nothing to brag about. She did the bare minimum. Food was edible. I ordered the Sunday special, barbacoa tacos. Meat had good flavor but the toppings lacked. Added avocado in hopes to fancy them up a little, but even they weren't fresh. Came with a side of tortilla chips and a little serving of queso. Queso was terrible. The best thing about dinner was the $3 can of cider. Yummmmmm! My mom was in town looking at some houses with me and we needed to get some lunch before she headed back home to Indiana. The previous times she had been here, we had frequented places like Piada and Brassica, so for this meal she insisted on having a "waitress". I looked in my bookmarks to see what was nearby where we were and Olde Town was the choice. It was a Friday around 1, so it wasn't super busy which I was happy about considering how small it is in the main seating area. There were several groups of, most likely, coworkers who were having lunch but still plenty of options for us to sit. Our server was friendly and my mom was happy that she didn't have to choose what she was eating as she stood in a line with people waiting behind her. We both thought so many things looked good that we decided to share two different sandwiches: the red masher grilled cheese and the Cuban. We both thought they were both so delicious that we were having trouble deciding which was our favorite. I think I ended on the grilled cheese being my favorite and she ended on the Cuban being her favorite. However, I would definitely order both of them again with my husband to get his take on it as well. Not only that they were topped with diced jalapeños and shredded cheese. My half order could have easily fed myself and 1 other! The taste of everyday was perfect and they give you so much to top your nachos with! Next, the garden gyro. Again, omg! Red and green peppers with onions, banana peppers, spinach, cucumber, feta and hummus inside a huge pita. This was also crazy good and extremely filling. We gave this place the benefit of the doubt like 5 too many times - I finally decided it just isn't worth it. First time we came, our server was pretty rude but being in the restaurant biz myself, I understand everyone has a bad night. The repetition led me to believe it's simply a staff issue. I find it really odd that the staff is so comfortable disrespecting their customers (unless you're one of their snotty midnight patio regulars that won't let you around the fire) Our last time there we brought some friends at about 9-10pm, the restaurant had tons of open seating but for some reason, one of the servers thought it was appropriate to yell at us for saving two seats - said other people want to sit there (tons of open seating). I'm having a really hard time understanding any of the hype for this place - is it just location? The food is subpar - does the job for a late night snack for sure. You can't miss with this Tavern. I live down the street and go all of the time. Service is consistent. Food is spectacular. Sometimes wish they had some healthier options, but that's not that what this place is for, and I know that. We went last week when the snow storm hit twice in one day. Lol. Literally was the only place open and only place you could get to from where I live. It was incredibly cozy and PACKED with people. Felt like I was at a bar in a cute little ski town with everyone all dressed in their winter gear! Pizza is delicious, although I will say crust is a little dry. Burger is classic and delish. Speechless after eating dinner here. Ate outside. 4 tables being served by a server. Ordered beverages, 2/3 were wrong. Said she would be back to fix the problem. Instead of going to fix the problem, went to two other tables prior to heading back inside. Came back out with another tables order. Went back inside. Back out for another order, not for us. My boyfriend and I stayed in Columbus for the weekend and came across this place which was walking distance from our VRBO. The ambiance was perfect with a calm fun atmosphere. The staff, service/bartenders were all so friendly and professional. We stopped in 3 times in our short visit there. And the FOOD?! OMG the best food ever. First time we got the soft pretzels with honey mustard and beer cheese (no pics we ate them so fast lol) then a gyro, jalapeno popper grilled cheese and salads. All of it blew our minds. The second time we went for food I had to do the gyro again since it was the best I've had from anywhere. Delicious! My boyfriend got the steak and eggs with potatoes and I also got their Italian wedding soup. My choice was the Bartlett Pear Grilled Cheese, which was fantastic. Pear, brie & cheddar, almonds, spinach on whole wheat. It came with chips. I actually ordered broccoli as a substitution, but our server must have forgotten. No worries. All good. I'd love to come back to try more of the menu. I ordered the build your own potato...when it arrived looked like someone threw up on my plate..didnt say a word just told her I didnt want it. This is a pretty small tavern...I want to say maybe ten tables max?! With the space being small, the noise from other peoples conversations and laughter definitely travel throughout the room. My husband and I visited on a Sunday afternoon and most of tables were full. We were immediately greeted and seated as we walked in. The tavern has a hipster/goth feel to it based on the decor and music. My husband ordered the Sunday special which was barbacoa tacos with a side of tortilla chips for $9 and I ordered the Cuban sandwich with a cup of spicy vegetable chili for $11. My husband also had a bottle Bud Light for $3. My husband was not a big fan of his plate and neither was I. His dish was basically three corn tortillas filled with probably two tablespoons of barbacoa and no toppings whatsoever...ummm maybe add some lettuce, cheese, or anything? If this is going to be your special of the day, you need to dress it up and make the dish more presentable. The tortilla chips were pretty stale which made me extremely happy that I chose to substitute the chili for the tortilla chips. Also, a salsa or dip for the tortilla chips would be nice. Eating stale tortilla chips with plain barbacoa tacos is not that appealing nor appetizing. My plate on the other hand was good. I really liked my Cuban sandwich! It was put together really well and was delish! The spicy vegetarian chili was full of spice and had the best flavor! Let me start by saying that I'm not much of a Yelper, I had to re-download this app to leave this review... This was by far the worst service I've received in my life. Coming from someone who has worked in the service industry, I know it can be a difficult. I remind myself of this when I receive less than stellar service and think things like "maybe they're just having a rough shift" etc. However, there was no excuse for the lack of service I received when I visited Olde Oak. I walked into the restaurant which had a total of 10 customers or less when I arrived. It took 15 minutes for any of the 4 staff members working to acknowledge me and take my drink order. Then once my friend arrived she received the same treatment causing her to go to the bar to ask one of the 3 or 4 people working for waters to be brought over. The servers/bartenders were standing around talking and doing shots, which they continued to do for the rest of the time I was there. We had to remind the staff again before water was eventually brought over some time later. Once the water arrived, we collectively ordered a salad, 2 appetizers, and another cocktail. After some time the cocktail didn't come, I reminded the server, who by this point seemed intoxicated, but they apologized and said they'd bring it out, and the drink still didn't come. It took about an hour for our food to be brought out. Once it arrived the food itself tasted decent, but I didn't eat much of it as I was so annoyed by the service that I just wanted to get the check and leave, which we did. Needless to say, I will not be back and I will not feel bad if/when this business fails, as it will be their own doing. read more

LOVE it here. From the fire circle out back, to the folks inside, the brunch offerings, the happy hour specials, the excellent people watching and general congregational place of the neighborhood. Hands down the best cheese and marinara I've had. Its a huge single wedge piece with marinara that sweet, tangy, salty all at once. Sitting across from Yellow Brick, I can see why Tavern Olde Towne does not place more focus on their pizza, but boy do they put out a damn fine pie. TOT feels like, and is, a great neighborhood watering hole, with a very diverse clientele who all seem to know each other. With the weather finally warming up, the patio was open and in full swing. The on tap beer selection is fairly decent and service is both friendly and fantastic. The menu is also fairly diverse, but I was here for the pizza. TOT offers only a few pizza variations, with set toppings. I wanted to add mushrooms to the pepperoni pizza, but there were no mushrooms in the entire restaurant (I was told that that is going to change as they will be adding some more topping selections to the menu). TOT's crust is somewhat thick and crispy (no big air pockets or much chewiness). While not my favorite style of crust, it really worked well with the toppings, which were superb! The pepperoni had great flavor and came out all nice and cupped and crispy. What really sold the pizza, however, was the unique sauce on top of the cheese action. And that sauce? Well, it was tart and herby - a great complement to the spicy peps and thicker, crispy crust. Just plain yummy. I wish TOT was in my neighborhood, I'd be there all the time. read more

We were looking for good chicken wings, thus Tavern was suggested. We arrived here around 12:15 am, on a Saturday morning. There was a pleasant fill of local people manning the bar, and a few of the tables were occupied. Since Stephen, one of my good friends, lives a few houses down from this joint, it's appropriate to say he's a regular. The female bartender/server greater us, very casual gal, asked Stephen how things were going; she didn't even have to ask what he wanted to drink - got him his German beer right away :) Not too many times can you find true "neighborhood bars" any more. Loved the local vibe oozing outta this place We each got our own order of chicken wings. Mine? Plain with ranch dipping sauce on the side. They were FANTASTIC!! Crispy, lightly seasoned, meaty.the dipping sauce too was great. It came in alarmed than normal bowl - I was elated I didn't have to try and figure out how to fit the big juicy wing into some Benadryl size, tiny cup - shhwww!! I love forward to eating here more.
