Stellar meal on a lovely brown stone lined Brooklyn street! The outdoor seating was lovely on our late summer night visit. We started with a mezzo trio which I whole heartedly recommend. We tried the romesco, tzatziki, and hummus. The pitas weee warm and really ample. They were even so kind to bring us extra pita when they realized we had leftover dip. Super friendly and attentive service! And side note, the dips were all excellent but the romesco stood out! Amazing flavor. For dinners we had a variety of plates including some of the daily specials. The croquettes definitely took the all star spot on the specials menu but the spicy oriecciette is a solid and reliable dish off the regular menu if you need inspiration! Would definitely return! Wish I lived in the neighborhood!

Wow, what a way to end this whirlwind trip to New York! It's been eye opening - culinarily speaking. We are ending this extravaganza at Olea here in Fort Greene - Brooklyn. On a non-specific Monday at lunch time Olea was SRO (Standing Room Only). Immediately I knew this place must be excellent - and excellent it was. I had a lovely bowl of Spanish Onion soup, which got French Onion Soup beat by a mile. The magic secret (I'm assuming) was sweet smoked Spanish paprika. That one ingredient kick this soup out of the park. I also had their Hummus made with chickpeas, lemon, tahini, topped with XV olive oil served with rolls (of course) and of all things endive leafs. This was very good. Olea was the best restaurant to call this visit over. Thank you every restaurant this last two weeks, you put a Giant Smile on my Face

Food was great. The pita dip was delicious, with hot and freshly made pitas. We had a great time trying several dishes. The bacon-wrapped dates were a perfect mix of sweet and savory, and the merguez dogs with lamb sausage were a fun Mediterranean twist on a classic hot dog. I would love to come back on a nice day to enjoy another meal outdoors. It is a lovely spot in the area with a welcoming vibe. The service and food took a little while to arrive, but overall it was a very pleasant experience.

I went for brunch with friends. The atmosphere is relaxing and chill. They kinda forgot my order while everyone else's arrived much earlier but the servers were nice. I got the Savory French Toast and appreciated the sweetness of the bread along with the saltiness from the cheese. Ultimately it's not something I would order again since it didn't match up with my preferences. I recommend their tzatziki dip, that was good.

This is my third time coming here and the food is always a hit. Tried their brunch menu for the first time today and everything tasted fresh and flavorful.

What a gem! Walked in on a Friday night around 6:30pm and were seated right away. The ambience is really nice, lots of plants and interesting lighting features. The food was absolutely delicious! Our favorite appetizer was the spicy feta-labneh dip, and for the mains, the whole-grain farro salad and the seafood black rice were both amazingly fresh and flavorful. The staff made us feel really welcomed and taken care of and we would definitely love to come back.

Now if you're craving a wee Mediterranean breakfast, get yourself down to Olea. Lovely wee spot that is cozy inside with a tight menu of brunch bits and bobs. The portions were good. The staff were attentive, and the prices were right. Would go back to try some more stuff

Olea is a small, cozy neighborhood spot that serves flavorful small plates and crowd-pleasing sharables. It has an incredibly welcoming atmosphere and friendly, welcoming staff. Our favorite dishes were the halloumi cheese and the dark chocolate olive oil cake for dessert. The branzino was just perfect to share as an entree (mind the bones though). The falafel-crusted artichoke hearts had a slightly too imbalanced falafel to artichoke ratio for me, but I acknowledge that this is personal preference and that this is a crowd favorite dish for them!

Great, flavorful and healthy Mediterranean food. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, making it just as good for a weekend brunch as it is for a casual dinner date. The Green Eggs and Lamb is creative and filling. The French Toast Greek Style is a standout, fluffy and crispy with just the right touch of sweetness. Even though I am not usually into desserts, this one is worth ordering. The Trio Dip is fresh and always a favorite to start with. Most dishes are consistent and satisfying. Not everything is unforgettable, but overall it is a reliable spot that keeps me coming back.

Went here for my last meal in New York before heading off to Prague for four and a half months. Call that shit the Last Supper the way I was surrounded by my beautiful friends and one traitor (my boy who I got in a big fight with the night before). But just like Jesus, I recognize him for his flaws and forgive him of his sins. Anyway, the Mediterranean grub they got here is delicious. I had an avocado toast with a fried egg on top, and though it was a little too spicy for my liking, the flavors were spectacular nonetheless. The real stand-out, though, was their hummus dip. It feels like a given that a high-end Mediterranean restaurant's hummus dip should be excellent, but this stuff was EXCELLENT. It was like hummus but different and better. My only real complaint with Olea is that I asked them to get my mate Mack a little something since it was his birthday, and they charged us for it :( c'est la vie.

So glad i finally had a chance to try this brunch spot! It's so cozy cute and tucked on a corner a few mins walk away from me. Everything was so delicious, but i think the standouts were the ultra smooth and slightly nutty hummus which tasted unlike any ive ever had (almost like a blended silken tofu) and the greek french toast crusted w. sesame seeds.

Spanish Garlic Shrimp w/ Grilled Bread

We ordered the pita trio, braised garlic chicken, Spanish garlic shrimp, spicy olives, and a glass of house red. Pita trio: We got the feta-labneh, hummus, and green pea dip. The feta and hummus were ok, but the green pea dip wasn't my thing--more mintier than I thought, which felt unnecessary since the feta dip already had mint in it. They gave us a lot of pita that I got excited... but it was a letdown. Some pieces were warm, others not, and they were pretty hard--felt like they'd been sitting out for a while. Fresh, warm pita would've made a big difference. Spanish garlic shrimp: Tasty and slightly spicy, which I loved. Braised garlic chicken: The chicken itself was good, but the portion was on the small side. Most of the plate was potatoes and artichokes--not a bad thing, just not what I expected. Overall, the food was okay, but I liked the vibe. The place has been around in Fort Greene for a long time and has that cozy, local go-to restaurant feel. The happy hour deal is great, so I'd consider coming back--but I'd probably skip the pita next time.

Baked orzo and baked half chicken. Delicious!

I went back for a weekday lunch recently and the food and atmosphere both hold up fabulously, so it makes sense why they've remained a brunch mainstay at both their East Village and Williamsburg locations. I enjoy that they serve their hot moroccan tea in a glass as is traditional, so you can see all the fresh mint leaves in your cup. I had tea like this multiple times a day during my trip to Morocco a few years back so sipping on this here took me back in time. I ordered a short stack of their blueberry pancakes which were very fluffy and delicious. They're not the kind of pancake with crispy edges, which are my preferred kind of pancake but I still found them satisfying. The moroccan eggs, which are two poached eggs in spicy stewed tomatoes and served with zahar pita is a delight. The pita is very fluffy and the zahatar adds such a nice fragrant spice to the bread. They used to serve this with potatoes but now those come at an additional charge but are well worth getting. The Williamsburg location also has pretty good wifi and they let me work on my laptop through my brief stay there. Kitchen was speedy too.

We also didn't get checked on at all, luckily our food was good and right. The table next to us didn't get greeted for water or anything so they had to flag down the guy delivering food to get a waitress. There is also an outdoor dining area, as well as a mid-sized dining room and we were seated near the window. Sawa serves Lebanese cuisine with some more modern dishes. Additionally, they have a mostly Lebanese wine list, which gave us an opportunity to try some new wines. We ordered both a red and a white for the table, and I was especially drawn to the red, as the red was served chilled, light-bodied, and very enjoyable. Nearly all of the reds and whites on the menu are from Lebanon, with just one red from Morocco, plus a couple sparkling options from Lebanon as well. We started with several dips for the table: hummus, baba ghannouj, and muhammara. The hummus was incredibly smooth, and the muhammara was especially flavorful with large pieces of walnut throughout. Everyone at the table receives fresh pita, and we ended up ordering a few more to share. We also shared the Brussels sprouts and the snap peas. The Brussels sprouts were rich and flavorful, but the snap peas really stood out. They were unlike anything I have tasted before, intensely mint, served with garlic mint labneh, and very delicious. For mains, we focused on lamb: two orders of the lamb ribs, two orders of the kafta, and two orders of the sfeeha. We probably over-ordered by about one entrée, but otherwise it was the right amount of food for six people. The lamb ribs were phenomenal, fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. The lamb pies were also very good and came with a delicious dipping sauce. The kafta was good, though not quite as memorable as the other lamb dishes, but still very satisfying. Service was attentive throughout the meal, and despite the number of dishes on the table, the staff handled everything smoothly. The table got a little crowded at times, but it was manageable. I would absolutely recommend Sawa, especially for anyone who enjoys trying something a little different. They do classic Lebanese dishes very well, while also offering some creative dishes that feel unique and memorable. I am already looking forward to going back.
