Stopped in at lunchtime. Pretty busy wven though the mall is almost a ghost town. Lydia was our server and she was very friendly and pleasant. Didn't forget anything and made timely visits to our table. Salad, soup, snackers, curly fries, and a sandwich were all up to Olga standards. Olga's is a name that many long time Michigan residents will recognize. The restaurant chain is inspired by Greek cuisine, offering different varieties of "Olga" sandwiches which are basically meats wrapped in pita bread similar to a gyro. Their menu is not stagnant though, as they do offer other types of sandwiches, soups, salads and promotional items. My wife especially loves the "Snackers", which is their signature appetizer consistenting of seasoned baked pita chips served with a spreadable cheese dip. I brought my son here to eat for the first time and he really enjoyed his egg wrap with these delicious sidewinder fries. I had a classic Olga which was okay, but definitely tasted better when I was a kid. I've never been to an Olga restaurant that was packed with customers. It makes me wonder how this chain managed to thrive over the years because the food is just okay in quality and the prices are gradually going up with no major improvements to anything. Popular chain in metro Detroit. This location is in Laurel Park Place. We usually get the Perfect Trio Meal, that's a trio sized Olga and two sides. Make mine an original Olga with a salad and Peasant soup, you've got the best eating in here. I don't know if someone is losing at the race track, but now they're charging for the Swiss almond cheese spread that goes with the snackers. Silly. Still this was a great find. Whether you're visiting, craving food from back home, or a local, DO NOT dine at this Olga's location. Unless you don't mind waiting way too long...for everything. Ordered peasant soup & salad...how long should that take? Though I'm thankful she put the cheese and dressing on the side, I am convinced she was just in the back, texting her friends. It shouldn't take 30 minutes or more to get a salad! The dining room was 25% to 30% full...so it's wasn't busy. Inflation has hit the peasant soup hard. More a vegetable soup now, with tiny crumbs of meat...it used to be so different! Also had water go down the wrong wind pipe, and was left to choke. Water not filled enough or in a timely fashion. After the skimpy soup, I was desperate to check out. Server again no where to be seen. The other servers entered and exited the dining room several times, taking stock of my uneasiness. I wish I remembered my server's name, because she was the worst and needs more training. My "meal" took over an hour...wtf? The soup is already prepared, and the salad was just the plain Olga salad, so no prep of protein. I implore you to dine at ANY other Olga's location! read more

I like the sauce on the side so I can add just a little. My husband's curly fries came out piping hot and salty. The food came out quick and the service was friendly. I have been a long time customer of Olga's since High School. However, I've noticed the shrinking portions over time. The original Olga was once bursting at the toothpick stitched seam and now is easily 50% smaller... no toothpick required. My oh my how the mighty have fallen! I cannot express my extreme disappointment in our dining experience at Olga's Livonia Laurel Mall. Olga's had a history of delicious salads, the Original Olga and great fries. Out salad arrived in a dish meant for a child eating pudding. The lettuce was wilted and toppings were sparse! Thank goodness I ordered extra feta cheese otherwise there would have been basically none! Our original Olga sandwich arrived so flat and lack luster, I thought maybe it was a panini. 2 pieces of onion, 2 thin pieces of tomatoes and maybe 5 small pieces of meat. The bread tasted nothing like it used to! If this is how Olga's is going to do business they should close their doors like other businesses who can't provide a better than average meal! read more

The Detroit Hellfire Olga Sandwich was delicious. I added extra straight-up Habanero chile sauce. If you are a person who loves super spicy things than I highly suggest adding the extra Habanero chile sauce. I've had the standard sandwich, but it wasn't as spicy as I'd prefer. Yay - it looks like there is a new manager here because service is so much better than it had been in the past. And that is a good thing. Food has always been a strong point at this very casual sit-down restaurant but service has been hit or miss over the years. The menu has also evolved over the years but my love for the Original Olga sandwich remains strong. The sandwich consists of seasoned gyro meat, sliced tomatoes, onions and Olga sauce (yogurt sauce) served on delicious Olga bread (sweet pita bread). I always order extra sauce for dipping. Also delicious is the Three Cheese sandwich which contains melted cheese, sliced tomatoes, and Olga sauce. While I tend to skip raw onions on most sandwiches, it is rather good in this sandwich - so I will only order it if there are no meetings after lunch. A side (not basket) order of snackers, Olga's bread cut into wedges, seasoned with paprika and sesame, served with cheese spread helped to stave off hunger without filling up. A side Greek salad offers a good vinegary counterpoint to the savory meal. Not related to the restaurant (and not reflected in the rating), but what is up with the 3G/4G service in this mall? I feel like I've time-traveled back whenever I shop at the mall and can't view email or apps. While Olga's has a separate wifi access point, it rarely provides quick, consistent internet access. read more

We had to wait for a table to be cleaned to be seated, although half the place was empty - perhaps so they could seat us out front where mall patrons would see us eating. Our server was polite, but seemed over-worked. She made mistakes at three tables near us, and twice when asked didn't bring the check. Took 15 minutes to cash out. And the table next to us wasn't bussed for the entire hour. Ew... If you enjoy Olga's food, do visit this location. Just be prepared to be patient. I have many fond memories of the original three cheese Olga and going to the mall with my dad. The food tasted just as I remembered it- I got the half and half so it was a side salad, half a sandwich, and a side of your choice. I liked the Greek fries except for the yogurt sauce, I would have preferred them without. I opted for the three cheese Olga and it was excellent. Our service was not so great- our server and other servers working were very friendly, but our waters remained unfilled and our food took forever. At least forty minutes to get our food. They had just come off of a huge rush... But it was painful. We actually skipped the free dessert we got for checking in on yelp because it was so slow. I'm hopeful it was just a VERY off day for them as we are coming into the holiday season. read more

This place was sort of a disaster from beginning to end. I was seated fairly quickly but it took a long time before someone finally came to bring a menu. It was also a long time before she came back to take my order. I wasn't able to use my phone while I waited because the signal was very weak inside the mall and I didn't know the password (laurel park13). By the time she came back I forgot to ask about it. She didn't bring my water either. I ordered a soup and salad combo and pointed to it on the menu saying I would like the peasant soup and the spinach Mediterranean salad. She told me it only came with the Olga's salad. I pointed to the wording and said well it says it comes with a handmade salad and the Mediterranean salad is listed under the handmade salads so she said, oh yeah okay. Maybe she was new but it seemed like she should know what the customer gets when they order. She brought my soup and salad together which was okay but I didn't realize until halfway thru my meal that I had a scoop of some sort of spread next to the soup but nothing to put it on. She still hadn't brought my water. I ended up asking twice about the Wi-Fi password. She said she didn't know what it was and would have to find out but never came back with it. I finally got up and walked over to the hostess and asked her what the password was. She knew it right away, which it seems to me every employee should know. I'd already finished my soup by the time i got my water. I have to say that both the soup and the spinach salad tasted delicious. Finally when she came back I asked her what the spread was supposed to go on and she said she would be right back with that. The Snackers didn't arrive until I had no soup and about two bites of salad left. See my photo. At first I was thinking I wouldn't leave any tip, unheard of for me. But the girl, Kryssy, seemed real nice and I hated to stiff her completely at Christmas so I was going to leave my usual 20%. But the mistakes kept going on and on. I asked if I could have a copy of the itemized part of the bill but she didn't bring it until I asked a second time. I asked for a box for my leftovers which she kept forgetting to bring. I told her at the beginning that I had a coupon for a free dessert with my Yelp check-in, she said she would take care of that at the end. She ended up bringing me a bread pudding. I had a free dessert at one other Olga's that I ate at a few weeks ago and they gave me a choice of desserts. She brought it before she even checked out the coupon, too. Then she asked to see the coupon which I had already showed her twice so I brought it up again and she touched the screen a couple times but instead of saying that the coupon had been used it just went to a screen saying that I had 59 minutes to use it. She seemed confused by that so I offered to do it and I hit the screen where it said "coupon used", then she wanted to see it again. The coupon was no longer there since I clicked that it was used. When she brought the bill it did show that the dessert had been taken off. I compromised between leaving nothing and leaving 20% and left 10% because of all the errors. That was a little over a dollar on a $7.50 meal before tax. When I asked a second time for the itemized receipt she picked up the folder and looked inside which most waitresses don't do. I didn't expect her to see the amount I left until after I was gone. I'm sure she was disappointed and she may think that I'm just a cheap old lady but I'm not. I leave 20% and I round it up to the next dollar. Only if the service is extremely poor do I leave less and that only happens about once a year with all the eating out I do. I also heard her saying out loud, "Thanks for cleaning my table", assumedly to a busboy who hadn't cleaned the table next to me when the people left, but it was inappropriate to say that out loud and in ear shot of customers. The entire time that I was in the restaurant there was a straw on the floor that everyone kept walking past and stepping over when one of the employees should have picked it up rather than leaving trash on the floor. And I noticed someone else said in their review that they got dirty silverware and I have to admit that mine didn't look great when I got them either. I wiped the knife off with my napkin and it went from being all smudged to shiny so there must have been something on it that didn't get washed off properly. You see what I mean by multiple errors. And if all that weren't enough I ended up with tummy problems after midnight which I can only assume was from either the soup or the salad. Good way to "clean out my system" anyway. The whole time I was sitting in the restaurant I kept looking at the Leos Coney Island across the way and wishing I had gone there instead. Oh my what a disaster. Went here with one of my friends while we were shopping. This particular Olga's is located right in Laurel Park Mall. Love the mall, but this Olga's fell below the mark in quite a few areas! First of all there was a line and the young lady said it would be a 5 minute wait for us. This 5 minutes turned into 20 minutes. You look around and there were at least a dozen tables that needed bussing. If you have no one to bus the tables, then the hostess, waitresses, whomever should help clean those tables off for good paying customers! Finally was able to sit down after a very long 5 (heh) minute wait. Sat and waited and waited. Finally, someone comes to the table and says she'll be right back! I really didn't see what the problem was. This Olga's is not humongous by any means and me and my friend counted at least 10 people working in the dining area. What's the problem Olga???? It was very disorganized and we even told the waitress that. At that time she said they were 3 people short that day. HELLO - maybe everyone should step up the game plan to ensure your customers are taken care of properly! We ordered our food and drinks at the same time. We both ordered a salad and one order of zucchini fries. I've never had these and my friend just raved about them. Our drinks arrived and then this pathetic plate of mush came. We both looked at each and said don't eat any!!!! I am attaching a picture of them to this review. Anyway, someone finally came by and I asked for the manager. Another 5 minutes or more and finally she came. My friend asked her what happened? And, then she said would you spend your money on this????? The manager said no and asked us if we wanted another order - me thinks not!!! Very disorganized, not clean, and very very slow. I would highly recommend whoever is in the kitchen to please look at the food you send out - presentation is very important. I have long been a fan of Olga's. That warm soft and pillowy pita bread is just fabulous. If you have not tried an Olga you must. On this visit I went with my mom and dad who are also Olga's fans. I am a fan of the original Olga, the Gyro-like lamb and beef mixture with onions and tomatoes, I always get Olga sauce on it (a sour cream based concoction) and jazz it up by adding pepper, garlic powder and cayenne pepper from the shakers at the table. I also on this occasion (as with most others) got the Olga side salad, a delightful combo of lettuce, tomato, feta cheese and olives with a subtle greek-like dressing. The combo is always a winner. Fresh and tasty, not too awfully bad for you but delicious. My dad got the same combo. We ended up with bottomless salads for just 99 cents because of a special. Happy! My mom had her usual: Olga's White Bean Chicken Chili with a piece of Spinach Pie, a combination of spinach, feta and ricotta, hand-made with phyllo pastry and baked to a golden brown. It comes with snackers, seasoned crisp olga bread pieces with a dab of swiss almond cheese. We liked her snackers so my dad ordered us a basket of them. They gave us two big containers of the swiss almond cheese to go with. Between the bottomless salads (I had two bowls, he had three) and the snackers we both just ended up taking our sandwiches home with the leftover snackers (he took those) for later, so we each got two meals out of it. Although our waitress, Danielle was very nice and helpful and really wonderful ...along with the waitress, Madonna, who's always professional even when my 2 yr granddaughter has a melt down! What makes me sad is that ...yes.. My daughter has her hands full with a 1 1/2yr old & a just turned 3 yr old girls! Olgas is a family restaurant and it's inside of a mall filled with kids and families! It's expected that people would bring their kids to Olga's especially in the mall! My 3 yr old granddaughter is very cute and smart but also has a bit of a stubborn streak in her and the 18 mos old is just that, 18 mos old! They're a bit loud and a bit messy and we try to clean up as best we can ! But when we were leaving Olga's at Laurel park the other day, my daughter and I directly saw A waitress, Shelby, go inside the kitchen and clap her hands vigorously while screaming and smiling and saying "YAAAaaaaaY" we looked right inside the kitchen at her and my daughter gave her a bit of a look; but she was screaming and jumping for joy that we were leaving with the babies! She's been rude before when waiting on our table. I never yelped about it! But this was very rude and I felt it needed to be told! Remembering that Danielle was awesome! The food was good too! My favorite 3 star restaurant out there. Seriously... a family favorite. Feeds a family of 4 for about 30 dollars depending on what you get. If it's a family favorite why am I rating it a three stars? Because they really only execute well on the snackers, the cream of broccoli soup and the Olga original. (And of course the orange cream cooler) There is a great special that I think is called the you pick two that allows you a half of an original sandwich, and 2 sides- and after rotating through most of them, the original is really the only thing I enjoy. But a heavy favorite when my kids love their meals and are excited to come in. Truly a great place to bring kids! Some improvements could be made with the way things are ran. For some reason we typically never have any plates cleared... like the appetizer basket is empty before dinner gets to the table, but we will leave before the basket does... And with 2 children we find ourselves stacking the dirty dishes in a pile and hoping to sit on the perimeter so we can place them on this ledge that they have to free up valuable table space. Second improvement, sit the customers! I don't know if it's a tactic to make Olga's look desirable but more times than not it seems that there is never a host/hostess. The last handful of times we stood in line waiting to be sat when the restaurant was at about 30% capacity. The times there are no lines, we just stand there hoping someone at the carry out counter or walking by would at least nod their head to acknowledge that they know we want to come in and enjoy their delicious snackers. It is always refreshing to know that a business is serious about their customer satisfaction when they reach out to their customer. I gave this Olga's location a redo after the issues in my original review were discusses with me by the Olga powers that be (they reached out to me). So I once again headed out with the family and am pleased to say we had a very different experience. This time around the service was good. It was friendly, prompt, and competent! The food was also good every order was correct. My salad (the Mediterranean) was fresh (this time with the proper greens) and it had plenty of fixings to go with it (olives, feta, etc.). The cleanliness was better to and we came during a time that had the wait staff hopping. I will definitely consider going to this Olga's again because of this last experience and I hope to see if the place keep up the improvements. read more

I grew up going to this Olgas on a weekly basis. My friends and I would come here to eat before seeing a movie. The food was always fantastic! Apparently, this has all slipped in the year I've been away from Michigan. I was visiting my parents from North Carolina, and we got a craving for some Olgas. My mom placed an order online for the tings we all wanted. When I got to the store to pick up our order, it was sitting out in the open...getting cold, 10 mins before my "pickup" time. I only knew it was mine because my mom's name was on display. I stood there for 5 minutes before I was even greeted. Then a very rushed looking woman said she'd be right with me, while other employees stood around. Another 5 minutes elapsed as she sat a few parties, and chewed put a server or two. Once she approached me I cashed out, and began to leave. Then I just want to point out something that happened to another customer. She went to pay, and the woman who cashed me out, began to ring up this other customer, then said she couldn't do it, and said she went to get someone else...making her wait. Then I get home, and begin to plate up my first Olga in 7yrs, which I was SO excited about. I always get an original Olga. It was SO SAD. Three tiny, mushy slivers of tomato. There was only a tiny dribble of Olga sauce, and pieces of my meat was so hard it hurt my teeth. Maybe this is usually disguised by the delicious bread, which I was unable to eat. My bread was burned and hard. I was able to rap on my bread hard enough to make my dog thing someone was knocking on the door. The bread is the best part! VERY UNSATISFACTORY. On the bright side, my mom enjoyed her sandwich. The spinach pie was good and had a good flaky crust without a greasy taste. My dad's snackers were very well seasoned and served with a good amount of the swiss almond cheese. He saved his soup for lunch the next day...so any complaints on that are null and void. (Though as others have noted, they've started making the snackers baskets smaller and smaller....penny wise and pound foolish as they say.) But - the service today was totally mediocre. Not get-up-and-storm-out terrible - but very mediocre. And when you charge $50 (That's FIFTY DOLLARS) for lunch ($52 for 3 plus a tip on top of that) the service needs to be as good as the food. This isn't Flemings - but it isn't McDonalds either. The food is excellent but they charge a lot for it. The waitress was not rude, just indifferent, not attentive, not on the ball at all in a number of different ways. ...she left us with a bad taste in our mouth so to speak. (And reading through the other reviews here tells me that our experience was not unusual - which also tells me that management doesn't care.) While there's a lot of things to keep on top of in running a restaurant, hiring and training people that are teachable and that have the right attitude - while maybe not easy - seems to be one of the more readily doable things mgmt can accomplish. read more

Time after time Olga's at Laurel Park Mall draws me in and nearly every time I sit down and think "why do I to this to myself"? We came early in the lunch hour with no wait. They sat us at a 4-person table near the entrance which was "set" for new diners but covered in crumbs. We waited a couple of minutes for our waitress to come by and pointed it out to right away to be cleaned up. She promptly grabbed the spray and rag, asked if it was good (like we put the crumbs there -- but then apologized) and we went on with our order. Ordered two "soup & salad" meals, both with out onion. Low and behold, there was onion on both of our salads and the salad looked like it had been marinating in dressing for a good amount of time. We didn't order the endless portion, which means that it should come with a medium salad, but it clearly didn't. Much like other reviewers, our server was great at drink refills but displayed no personality whatsoever. She didn't seem to be overloaded with tables but yet she couldn't see the onions laying on top of both of our salads that we ordered without AND she couldn't remember who had what type of soup. Also, we were served a smaller salad size because she rang us in wrong (probably to get the extra $2.40 up charge for endless). Overall, the staff this morning seemed to be disgruntled about something, constantly chattering in their headset and in clusters around the restaurant. I love this place. I do. You'd be hard pressed to find a place that gives me a feeling of nostalgia like this restaurant. Though I'm now too old for the amount of sugar in the Orange cream cooler, the pita bread doesn't taste like anything else at all. I stopped at Olgas in Laurel Park for a late lunch today. There were noises and laughter coming out of the kitchen ,but no one came to seat me. I needed to use the restroom. I wasn't being seated so i went into one of them IT WAS DIGUSTING !! i did not have a good experience at this olga's. My order was scheduled for pickup at 7:30 and placed that order at 6:40. When I got there I was greeted by an unfriendly hostess who seemed uninterested. I waited there for about 20 minutes and asked about my order twice. The manager was the only kind one who offered me a free drink and apologized. However, once i got my order and was home I was missing part of my order. The kitchen burnt our food so we had to wait a long time for what should have been a simple order. Another customer left after ordering dessert because of the wait. The manager hounded them into returning into their seats. The staff was hit and miss, friendly and rude but almost always incompetent, with our waitress forgetting multiple things we asked her for. Silverware was missing from almost every table. The manager who I felt some level of sympathy for should really use some discretion and offer discount/free dessert when the staff messes up, but at this location they might go broke. Again, the level of service I expect from Olga's is already lowered because of the mall setting but this was ridiculous. The food was fine, but you better expect dinner and a show. read more

I had a terrible experience at this olgas. I placed a pickup order while I was in town for the holidays and when I got back to my hotel room three things were missing. I had to drive back to pick them up and food was cold by the time I ate it. Also I was trying to pay with a gift card and the lady didn't know how to do it. read more

I was very generous to give my 1 start. Just got my order and I have to say they need to step up soon and hard. I've ordered 1 full size house salad, 3 fried chicken sandwiches and 2 gyro sandwiches. It took over 10min to place my order and another 30min to have the CARRY OUT, cost almost $52 before taxes,and 5min later inside our house, 'SURPRISE!' the meat was dried out and instead of the Olga's sauce, I got cheap runny mayo!! Wow, what a bad experience... I think it is because they are the second major resturant and right at the center of the mall, so they have enough people to charge a lot and serve awful food... quality is no longer their number 1 priority. And the yummy pitta bread (like the real Olga bread of 5years ago), looked like a very hard pancake, very chewy and hard, anyhting resembling what I used to get.... too bad, next time I'm going to Leo's down the isle. I think anybody can beat this quality for $52!!!! AWFUL. SAVE your money too, spend at Cpk, Leo's and Sweet Lorraine's (I'm skipping Max and Erma's as well, same problem, overpriced/bad food/lousy service). I can count on my one hand how many times I've dined alone in over 40 years. Utmost worst experience here! Asked for no onions on my salad, got them and they were mixed in. No hummus on my sandwich-and it's on there...with a lack of veggies. Server came over, I kindly told her about my meal as I'm eating. I'm sorry, not do you want anything else? Can I get you another one? Buy a dessert? Discount the tab? I'm in the industry/ it was handled wrong and I wish I would have spoken up on how to better customer service, not wanting anything free! All the portions have downsized incredibly to embarrassment. Too bad, not teaching food service, quality, or staff any compassion about their jobs. read more
