This moved out of the dying mall a few years ago and I finally had time to stop by for lunch. Large dinning room with top service unlike some of the newer Olga's tried. Friendly servers who don't hover but bring a drink refill when needed. The parking lot is smaller in the front because it has to be shared with other places, but a much larger one is in the back. Trouble is no back door so you have to walk around. The menu has slimmed down some, but the popular favorites are still there. Only downside that cost them a star is having Pepsi products instead of Coke. I will stop back when I have time when I am down to Monroe. read more

I was back in town visiting my mother and came across Olga's and I wanted to go cause I had not been there in over 25 to 30 years since I had been in high school. The service was absolutely atrocious. it took them forever to notice us it took forever to get a drink it took forever for them to come back to see how the food was matter fact they never did ask us how the food was my mother asked for a refill on her drink it took almost 15 minutes for that to happen and by the time they brought it we were done and ready to check out. the food was fine but the service broke us where we probably would never go back again . read more

The Original Olga "sandwich" is, basically, a gyro with a few amazing twists. Don't get me wrong...I love a good gyro, but IMHO, the Olga is even better. First, there's the bread. Although it may look like ordinary pita, it's not. It's softer and, at the same time, a bit crispy. It's definitely superior to run-of-the-mill pita, and it's texture absolutely contributes to the Olga's superiority! Olga 1, gyro 0 The yogurt sauce that Olga puts on her sandwich isn't your traditional tzatziki. It's better. It's smooth, a little sweet, and (this is the key) a fair bit lemony! There's no cucumber flavor that I can detect. Olga 2, gyro 0 The MEAT: Ok, the gyro meat at J&G (Upside Brewing) in Sylvania is better. But then again, J&G has the bestest gyro meat in the world. Compared to almost any other gyro place, however, it's probably a tie. Olga 2, (J&G) gyro 1 The rest: fresh onions, tomatoes on both the Olga and the gyro? Again, it's a wash. I'm old enough to remember when every mall had an Olga's Kitchen...those were good days. Now, this Detroit original can be a little hard to find, but it's worth looking for. First off I have to state that I love the Olga's brand. I really wish Toledo had a full service location, it's really missed. We were in town for the week and grabbed take out on a Monday night. Good Place for Quick Bite!! I stopped into Olga's Kitchen after leaving the Monroe area and looking for a place to eat for lunch. Olga's is located in a smaller plaza right off the main road. When I walked in it was already fairly busy as the lunch crowd had almost filled the restaurant. A busy restaurant is always a good sign. Being a modern place to eat, you can scan the menu card on the table and order fairly quickly. I started with the very tasty Peasant Soup made from seasoned beef and lamb, green beans, zucchini, peas, carrots and barley, simmered in a tomato-herb broth and served with crispy seasoned triangles of Pita bread. My only regret after downing that tasty soup was that I should have ordered a full bowl. Next up was the Gala Apple Pecan Salad, and I added beef and lamb to it. I placed my order online and scheduled it to be delivered at 11:30 a.m. I ordered an original Olga w/3 cheese, a Snackers basket and a 2-pack of bao buns. First, I check my phone at 11:29 and see a message saying my food had been delivered 10 mins. ago! Nobody knocked to let me know so my food is now cold. Except for the cheese that came with my Snackers, it's room temperature at best and really grainy. It was like it had sat out overnight. Then I open up the Olga and there is ZERO olgasauce on there. You can't eat it without the sauce, it's like trying to chew a piece of the desert. And that wasn't even the worst part. The meat tasted old and funky. I took two bites and tossed it. We went to the location on Telegraph Rd in Monroe. We were seated immediately. We ordered White Chicken Chili and the Trio, ham and cheese and salads, and snackers. The Snackers took a bit to come out. The White Chicken Chili came out about 10 minutes later. The Ham and cheese Olga came out a full 15 (Fifteen) minutes AFTER the Chili...so one party had completed their meal while the other party was still waiting. On top of that, the ham was burnt enough that it was not edible. The waitress said (exact words) "Oh, I am sorry to hear about that." It was a very unpleasant experience. read more

Ive eaten at several locations and this one has to be the worse of them all. Not sure who the manager is but a very disorganized establishmen. There were 2 of us took 35 minutes to get our lunch and they were not busy. Never came back to check on us and no refills on drinks. Staff were horsing around in kitchen and several people even got up to go find wait staff. Once we did get the lunch sone lettuce in salad was slimy and olga we ordered was cold and so were the fries. Overall a good experience. Olga's is a very nice new looking sit down restaurant. It is much larger on the inside than it looks from the outside. The waitress was friendly. We tried a few different "Olga's" my favorite was the veggie. It has grilled veggies nicely done. Warning: everything has onion in it. My wife used to live in Ohio about 6 years ago and frequented am Olga's location, I'm not sure of which one. We came to this Olga's to satisfy her craving after having moved back to Ohio recently. The little bread pieces they offer that look like little pizzas came out and those were nice and flavorful and warm, the dip they came with was also flavor just wasn't my kind of flavor. For the entree I ordered the Chicken Fajita Olga, and was very disappointed, fajitas are supposed to be sizzling hot!! I understand its supposed to imitate a Gyro from what I'm told, so I don't expect to have all the juices ruining your wonderful bread, but the entire Chicken Fajita Olga was luke warm at best, not even remotely something I'd call hot. Maybe my dish was done first and sat for a couple minutes by the time it was delivered to the table; but it certainly didn't seem like it sat under a heat lamp of any sort. The flavor was good, the chicken had a lovely char on it, but the heat of the food was underwhelming, which led to a very mediocre dish. Our server was lovely, very polite, very attentive. I love Olga's... but come on now. This was my grilled chicken olga, looked like it was made for a three year old. Hardly any chicken, lettuce that was close to-or was expired. You know, when lettuce gets wet and mushy? Was supposed to come with tomatoes and didn't , so I asked if I could get them and I was brought out ONE HALF a slice of tomato on a plate. My table and I couldn't help but laugh. Fries were cold and stale, and were just small pieces of what were curly fries. No actual whole fries. I recently moved back to Toledo, Ohio, my childhood home. I had fond memories of Olga's, but there's not one in Toledo anymore, so I ventured up to Monroe. Good food, but not exceptional. If I lived in Monroe, I'd come semi-regularly, but not quite worth the trek from Toledo. Highlights: olga chips, soup, orange cream cooler. Chicken shawarma sandwich was okay but not exceptional -- there's lots of good chicken shawarma to be had in the Toledo area. Chocolate bread pudding was disappointing. Cold, chocolate was not dark enough, no crispy bits. I expect I'll eventually be back when I have a big enough craving for an orange cream cooler, especially if I happen to be passing through on the way to/from Detroit. Gah, just writing that makes me crave an orange cream cooler. Well, it will only be that much better when I get it eventually. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, decorations look new. read more

My mom and I both really like Olgas but it was our first time at this location. Salad and snackers were good as usual. We tried the chicken schwarma for the first time here and that was disgusting, and it had almost no chicken in it. Not cool. And then the waitress tried telling us that is the way it is supposed to be, how it has always been, and that she really likes it, just kind of condescending. That is not the appropriate response to customers, especially when they often eat REAL chicken schwarma at authentic restaurants. She said their version is sweeter. It was flat out gross and tasted like a ton of nutmeg and cinnamon and nothing else. And there is no excuse for the lack of chicken. I got a turkey club and that was fine.
