A flashlight store billed as a flashlight experience? I've been in some niche stores around the world but never a retail store dedicated to flashlights. Clearly someone had a bright idea or did they? The Olight flashlight store located in Fashion Mall Las Vegas is hidden in a corner on the 2nd level just past the midway point. It's creatively designed for you to pick up, play with, experiment with most of their top sellers and new lights. Most of time when it comes to flashlights, we just buy one on Amazon or get one at the store. The plastic packaging that encases the flashlight needs the local fire department with the jaws of life but here with Olight, no jaws of life is necessary. Most if not all of their lights come in box packaging. It was cool to pick up and play with a number of lights. The Baton is a great example, it doesn't seem so beefy in its pics on Amazon but it's hefty in your hand. It's got some weight behind it and appears to be sturdy enough to handle a couple of drops. The spheres are little lights that are really cool for travelers as they can be placed anywhere. So often in hotels, the light and light fixtures are never the same place and oddly placed. I usually travel with my Streamlight Wedge as an EDC but I can see where a sphere orb would come in handy. The Olight employees were very friendly and answered a lot of questions and a bonus is that there's a Yelp check in offer for swag. Who doesn't love swag right? One cool thing is that if you place an order online, you could pick it up at the store. So It's me Lincoln again on my wife's Yelp leaving another review. I'm going to continue to leave a review about this store and the encounter I had with very unkind and nasty employee, whose attitude was disgraceful and disgusting. My last review I'm sure was removed somehow by that employee but my next move is to call their corporate number and report him/his service and treatment towards me when I visited the store. I wrote a review 8 days ago, which was the day I was in the store. I will leave screen shots of the previous review I left before that store clerk had it removed. The store clerk was an older white male with hair that's balding. Not sure of his name because he never introduced himself properly with a name or any other welcoming words. I am 100% sure of his description. The OLIGHT store has cameras I'm sure, so I'm sure once I contact corporate about him they will be able to look on the camera 8 days from today and see that he was on his phone, not working and if the cameras have audio they will hear his poor choice of words to me and his attitude walking away. We visited the Olight Las Vegas store at the Fashion Show mall during their soft opening and it was everything we hoped for. Really, really disappointed. I have multiple Olight products and am generally happy with the products. I walked in hoping to talk with Olight employees who knew about the products and to hopefully learn about new products. Nope. Instead, I encountered a group of wholly incompetent and inept staff. I asked what lights have a USB-C port on the light itself. That's it. All they had to do was say, "sorry, we don't know, give us a chance to look it up." Instead, a man led me to a light that had a USB-C port on the holster. I reiterated that I was looking for a light with a USB-C port on the light itself. He led me to a light that had a USB-C port on a charging case. I reiterated that I was looking for a light with a USB-C port on the light itself. He led me over to another light, saying they could charge magnetically. The manager, who was standing nearby, walked over and she told the guy (who was ostensibly trying to help me) to go away. She then went to the back and brought out a woman whom she said knew more. This woman said that I was thinking of an old model. I told her that is not the case, and that I owned one that I had purchased this year. She then said that I could look online. At this point, the manager came over and motioned for the other woman to be quiet and go away. She then apologized and said that the employees had only been working for two days, that she had only been with the company for four months, and that the other woman had been with the company for five years, and that they all didn't know much about flashlights. I said that wasn't ideal, but that at the very least, they could have said something like, "I don't know, let me find out for you," instead of leading me around to items that were clearly not what I was looking for. I even asked the manager if I could have phrased my question differently because I thought I had been specific in asking for "a light that had the USB-C port on the light itself", and she said that I had been as specific as possible and that there wasn't another way I could have asked. She then said everyone was trying their best. I pointed out that would be like going to a Toyota dealership asking if they had any Camrys and being led to Tundras and 4Runners. The manager said that was a good point. At this point, another employee (who seemed to have been actually researching on her phone during this ordeal) piped up and listed three products. As I was aware of those three products already, I asked if there was anything else that had a USB-C port on the light itself. She then walked me over to a light that plugged into a USB-A port. At this point, if one or more of them had ended it there, that would have been fine, but they kept trying to justify their lack of knowledge. This went on and on, and then eventually, the manager said she was sorry I had the impression that they didn't do well. I pointed out that I was just stating what had happened, and that all they had to do was just say at the beginning, "I don't know, let me find out for you." She then said that even if something happened completely differently, that the impression is all that matters. I told her that is completely wrong, because if someone punches you in the face and then says that they have the impression that they didn't punch you, that impression doesn't matter. What matters are the facts. The manager then said she was going to walk away, and then walked away. The other employees then tried to reframe it by saying I had asked the wrong question. I told them to look back through the video camera footage (I assume there's no audio recorded for legal purposes, but just in case they were recording audio), and they would see that I had asked the question as specifically as possible from the beginning. They kept trying to equivocate, so when the woman who had been with the company for five years said that they would improve and that I would be really impressed if I came back in a month, I just nodded and said, "maybe," and walked out. If this is the face that Olight is putting on for the people who don't already know Olight products, they need to reevaluate whom they have hired for their first brick and mortar location. read more
