We didn't do any blueberry picking but we will be back for that. However they have the store in the barn which had maple syrup, jams, produce, and so many other great items. It's one of the activities I enjoy doing most in the fall, and have grown disappointed with other farms as the years went by and their popularity skyrocketed. This place is fairly under the radar - a bit of a drive even past the attractions in Clarence, but I've grown to love Akron lately and so I (of course) didn't mind making the journey. In fact, I loved this place so much that I brought my family back here the very next day. Akron Acres is a part of the Kelkenberg farm family. I haven't been to their namesake farm, but if it's anything like Akron Acres I'm sure I would have an absolutely amazing time. Activities here during their fall season included a hayride out to the pumpkin patch, corn maze, and things like pony rides for the kids. The hayride is $12 and you're allowed to pick any pumpkin you want from the patch (even the biggest one you can't carry) - they also had combo ticket prices if you wanted to participate in some of the other activities here. Sadly we went during a wet and rainy weekend, so I had to miss out on the corn maze BUT the farm animals 10000% made up for my FOMO. Oh yes, there are dozens of farm animals roaming about! Most notably, we saw ponies, a large draft horse (not sure what breed they are? but they are HUGE), pigs, sheep, turkeys, chickens, and of course GOATS. There were also BABY GOATS and they were absolutely ADORABLE, one of them tried to eat my clothes. Made my life complete. You can also buy an assortment of other things while you're here, not just tickets for fun activities! They sell pumpkins and gourds if you don't feel like going out to the patch - they also have Indian corn and corn stalks, hay, among other things. There's a food stand that sells kettle corn, maple cotton candy, and candy apples. You can also shop a super cute country store here, with all sorts of goodies - I ended up buying a delicious smelling candle that they were burning in the store while I was there. Needless to say, there's a ton of really fun things to do while you're here, both for kids and adults. It's a bit less well known than some of the other pumpkin places in WNY, which is why I ended up liking it so much. Both days we went, it was pleasantly busy but not overly crowded. There is also "The Gathering Barn," which is where weddings are hosted - and from the pictures I've seen online, it sounds beautiful! All in all, we had such an amazing experience here that we're going to be back in November for their Christmas trees! Can't wait to return!!

Wanted to bring my 1.5 Year old somewhere a bit more lowkey than the big wigs in town and also wanted to knock out pumpkins and apple picking at the same time- enter Blackman Homestead Farm. It ticked those boxes and also delicious slushies (apple cider and grape) just a missed opportunity for delicious pastries (hmm cinnamon donuts!) We thank goodness read Darlene's review about making a reservation and did that the day of around noon and was able to get in at 330! The reservation is made online and the farm is FREE to enter (amazing) but can't be changed or cancelled, however you only need it per carload, so unless you're bringing another car, you can tack on extra folks. We purchased some apples we picked (it was pretty low in the season to pick off the trees) and some that were all set for you in bins, a pumpkin, some cider, a tiny pumpkin and were surprised by the price. Gently it was not as expensive as I thought. Parking was quick and easy on a later Saturday afternoon, with a quick Hi to the Turkeys, some exploring around the pumpkins and picking some apples we had a good time after about an hour and half. I did noticed that it was well organized and lots of folks did disregard the signs: don't feed the Turkeys (grass) and pick up the apples you drop off the tree. There were alot of half eaten, throw apples on the ground which made me kind of sad. Please respect someone's rules and property, it's so nice to be able to come see the farm for free, I hope that doesn't change.

I did not want to miss out on the donuts again so we made sure to visit early on Saturday. We were lucky to get a spot in the parking lot. The two lots fill up quickly and some patrons had to park far down along the road. As it's October and everyone wants to experience the wonderful fall offerings Schutt's has available be prepared for a busy environment with people everywhere. Despite the crowds Schutt's staff does an amazing job keeping the store stocked and lines moving. As the weather is unseasonably warm, we didn't want to do U Pick apples so we went into the store to select a few varieties. As I walked up to the honeycrisp bin, an employee started bringing out additional apples. The apples were huge and looked perfect! Honeycrisp were considered premium apples at $2.99 a lb. They also offer a large selection of non-premium at $1.99 a lb. Be sure to try the cider sample of the day (honeycrisp) and grab a bottle from the cooler to go with your donuts! We ordered donuts and sat outside to eat them. Be aware seating is limited. The glazed donuts were not very well glazed, only getting a taste of glaze as we ate towards the middle. Otherwise everything was great and it made for a fun outing. Apples, cider, and 6 donuts cost us a little over $20 which is a great value for the quality of the offerings! While we didn't do U Pick, we did walk across the road to check out the photo opportunities available. There are several cute displays to get in some fun fall photos.

On the corner of Rt 39 and Rt 20A in NY (near Leicester) there is a farm stand. In the Spring, Summer and Fall they have produce. You never really know what you will get there, its literally what the farmer drove in from the field that morning. So whatever is ripe and he felt like picking I guess. Recently they have had corn, which really is best if eaten the day its picked, forget Wegmans corn, find a farm stand or farmers market near you and get it that way. Just yesterday they had peaches and plums as well. Some gourds for the upcoming fall season. This is on the honor system. Prices are posted on a few boards, and you go from there. I never need 12 ears of corn, so I just divide by 3 for the 4 I do want. You can do the same. There is a black lockbox there for the money. I happened to be there when one of the farmers was dropping off the corn, so chatted with him for a moment. I have been driving by here for over a decade, and have often stopped by, always thought the honor system was terrific, and let him know that. He did say sometimes people don't pay, and once or twice they have had money stolen, but that for the most part this system worked well. This is a very safe place to stop, there is plenty of room for all cars and its very open and easy to see. So, if you are in the area, do yourself and your stomach a favor and stop here to see if there is anything of interest for you today. Forgot to mention, they also sell wood there, not something I buy, but I noticed it yesterday. I cant comment on the pricing of that, but I can say for 4.25 for 12 ears (+1 or 2 as the sign says) for corn, Im guessing the wood price is reasonable. The peaches were 2.50 for a small basket (and they are very good). And they have some plastic bags to make it easy for you to carry as well. I'm sure its obvious, but just in case, CASH ONLY.
