I'm so excited for OliToki, it's such a great Korean/Mexican fusion concept that's quick and simple. Options like burritos, tacos, tortas but with bulgogi beef and kimchi are some examples that may sound weird but are actually magical. The staff is super friendly asking if I've been here before, if I had any questions etc. I believe they only opened around 2 months ago and already have a good amount of traffic. The first time I went I ordered to go (which most people do, there's only 8 seats so pretty tiny place) and ended up waiting a while since there were about 6 people in front of me! I didn't mind, it gave me time to review the menu because all the options sounded so appealing. First time I went I got the bulgogi beef bowl with rice (similar to a bibimbap pretty much) and it was AMAZING. The beef was perfection and mixed with the veggies and spicy sauce they give you on the side is an awesome combination of color and flavor. Second time I went a bit crazy and got totchos, a spam musubi (bringing back my childhood) and the bacon kimchi fried rice balls. Everything was incredible as expected, but what I didn't expect was how many tots I ended up getting. I was only able to finish half the meal which was too bad. Totchos and rice balls were a bit on the spicy side so if you like spicy, there are tons of options for that. "Korean fusion" are two words I like to hear together. I ordered (from an online app and had it delivered) two delicious bits of tastiness from OliToki. I'd highly recommend them both: 1) Totchos. A genius idea. Like carne asada fries (which people here in Boston don't seem to know), but it's good stuff on more good stuff. Kimchi, onions, cilantro, tons of cheese, their special sauces, and bulgogi all on tater tots? Yes. Please. 2) Quesa-Kimchi-Dilla. This was fun, and I had it with their chicken (though I ate most of it for leftovers the next day). The dipping sauce was fantastic, though I wish there was more of it. I've been here a handful of times and I don't know why but I find myself here more often than at Coreanos. I think they're pretty equal in quality but maybe because it's always less busy here and I am able to find a seat. Anyway, I have tried the loaded taco-tacos (tried all 4 types of protein: chicken, bulgogi beef, spicy pork, and crispy tofu), totchos, and ramen seasoned fries. Most were amazing and filling, especially the totchos since it comes with a protein as well. The ramen seasoned fries weren't anything out of this world but it is what it says it is lol. My least favorite taco/protein I've tried though is probably the chicken. The flavor was just okay to me. This is small but nice Korean fusion place i would not have discovered if it weren't for yelp. I ordered stuffed burrito rean and bacon kimchi and cheese rice balls. The food tasted great but only downside is that sauces are doing most of the work and that foods aren't not that healthy options (lots of salt and fried food). They do have delivery options which may be great for some. I would definitely give this place a try if you like these type of food. The totachos are my favorite, I order them on Foodler all the time and make trips to allston specifically to get them. This place is next to Shabu-zen. The owner and wife (I'm assuming) were sweet and attentive. Couldn't ask for better service. What we ordered; Totchos - delicious. The tots were covered in sauce but were not soggy, granted we devoured them quickly. Ramen fries - not bad. Normal fries, medium cut, sprinkled with powdered seasoning. I'd order again because I love fries. Spam masubi - nothing out of the ordinary. They were a good size but I wouldn't order again. Bacon kimchi fried rice balls - a bit over fried fork my liking, not much flavor. Maybe this is a work in progress... Next time I'm around the Allston area again and want a snack, I'll stop in. So a recent trend I've been seeing is the Korean Mexican fusion trend, especially in Allston. My friends have been raving about it and I figured it was time to try it. My friend and I came here for an early dinner on a Saturday and it was empty AF... idk if that's normal but it was super empty. Seating is limited and tiny. Max 3 tables for parties of 2. So makes sense that this place is more to-go oriented. Menu is extensive and has a lot of good options! I was still full from brunch so I decided to get 2 sides. I got the Spam Musubi and the Kimchi Fried Rice. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed. The Spam Musubi portioning was uneven: too much rice in comparison to the size of the spam slice. The kimch fried rice didn't pack that much flavor. It wasn't as spicy as I'd like. It was alright, didn't feel I wanted to finish it. However, my friend go the Totchos (tater tot nachos, insane I know!) That was the best thing I had. I wanted to order it initially but knew it would be too much for me to finish/eat on my own. Definitely made the right decision to share with him. This is SUPER affordable! His bill was cheaper than mine: $7 v. $9 and he had more food in total. I loved the totchos. I've been on a Korean taco hunt for the past few months and a friend recommended checking out this place. Let's start with the positive... I do like their tacos, I got the bulgogi taco and it was indeed flavorful. The Negatives would be the other things I've ordered. I didn't like totchos .... it's basically tater tots with lots of spicy mayo. Nothing special. The kimchi rice ball was also drenched with spicy mayo. The rice bowl was a no-no! It didn't taste good or look appealing. As for the chicken wings, the olitoki flavor was okay but not a wow factor, I think it's bc two of the wings were still pink and that really bothered me and it wasn't crispy at all. BUT the other flavor we got was "The UN" which was way much better. It had a familiar taste that I can't pinpoint but it was delicious, and the wings were perfectly cooked and crispy on the outside. This is my first (and possibly only) Yelp review -- I'm much more of a user than a contributor. I'm writing this, though, to pay OliToki back for the service they gave me. I stopped by OliToki because it was one of the only places open at that time of day. I was debating between getting chicken wings or the packed bowl, so I asked the lady behind the register for her opinion. She told me to get the packed bowl if I was aiming for the "stuffed" factor. Awesome -- the packed bowl was cheaper anyways (and she still recommended it! Bonus points for honesty). I didn't get anything fancy with the bowl, just the regular chicken option. There was a considerable amount of rice and vegetables (kimchi, lettuce, cilantro) as well as some pretty savory barbecue chicken in the bowl. It was definitely enough to satisfy my late night hunger, and I chowed down pretty quickly. Three quarters of the way through, the lady came to my table and told me that she had put in an order of chicken wings so that I could try them out, see which one I liked better, and be sure of my order the next time I came in. I was already satisfied by the time I finished the bowl, but then the lady came by and dropped off a box of four chicken wings (with ranch and celery inside as well). I was blown away -- I had assumed she would give me one, two wings maximum as a kind of sampler, but this was essentially $4 worth of chicken. After eating them, I can definitely say that the wings are so very worth it (and I would not have regretted choosing them over the bowl). It was admittedly awkward to just receive so much free food and walk out, so this is my abashed way of saying thank you. From the presentation of the dishes, to the decor (flat screen TV's displaying the menu on the left three screens and one showing Korean music videos on the far right), everything was great. We ordered: the pork Korean loaded tacotacos and Korta with pork, and a side of Bacon Kimchi fried rice balls. The loaded tacos were as fresh as any Korean-Mexican fusion I've had in the Bay Area and New York, with crisp purple cabbage and kimchi paired wonderfully with the tender pork. The Korta's ingredients complemented each other in a delicious blend; the Toki sauce was a good touch, as a robust contrast with the pork. The bacon kimchi rice balls rounded out the meal as a crispy yet succulent appetizer, making this an ideal food after drinking or watching sports games. I could definitely see this as a fun/ casual spot for meeting friends after visiting the bars or seeing a game, or even fueling up beforehand. I popped by here for lunch yesterday and had a great, protein and flavor packed rice bowl! I went on the later side of lunch so the place was empty which was great because I was hangry. The space itself isn't anything to write home about--it's really more of a take-out joint. I had been meaning to swing by for a while, so I had a lot of questions for the staff member working about what I should try as a first-timer. Luckily for me as a pescatarian, he said that the kimchi rice balls didn't have any meat in them! Win! They're a cheesy, crispy, kimchi-filled delight. All of his recommendations were on point--the crispy tofu was super crunchy, the spicy toki sauce added great flavor, and the avocado he added on top helped temper the heat. At $9 for a huge rice bowl it's really a lunch no-brainer. It'd be nice if they could make the space feel more homey and suited to people that want to sit and stay for a while. Olitoki has become one of my new favorite places to order lunch or dinner from. My usual is the Aloha bowl with the spam, egg and kimchi over rice. I'm from Hawaii, so I was excited to see it on the menu. It's not the best I've had, but it is still very yummy and a good substitute to have for lunch or when I'm too lazy to cook dinner. I keep telling myself I'll try something different from them, but I keep going back to ordering this dish. It's just SO good! The Kimchi Fried Rice balls were not what I was expecting, but still so very tasty. It packs a lot of flavor with a little bit of that kimchi heat. We tried the veggie dumplings for the first time tonight and I have to say, it's probably one of the better veggie dumplings I've had here in Boston. They're full of flavor and have a bit of a kick to them. The Musubi! I've never seen it on a menu anywhere, but I make musubi at home and theirs are pretty good. Again, not the best I've had, but still tasty enough for us to keep ordering them. I've ordered from Olitoki several times in the past couple of months and I will continue to order from them in the future as long as they can stay consistent. It is good. It is not AWESOME. I haven't tried the chicken wings yet. My complaints: The tortillas on the tacos didn't have a good char. The spam in the musubi could also have a crisper outside. The kimchi portions on the dishes are inconsistent day to day. One day its plentiful another there is barely any that you can taste. The good parts: The tatchos i think are my favorite. Consistently good crispy tots. They also do a good job with their tofu prep. Not everybody does. They have cans of sac sac. (Canned fruit juices), sikhye (sweet rice drink), and su jeong gwa (cinnamon punch) which is a plus. The branding is ADORABLE! an oli toki is an Olivia bunny, named after one of the owners and toki is Korean for bunny. It is a tiny place. I think there is 3 tables for 2 and one for 4, or maybe it was just 5 tables... Either way there are only about ten seats and no standing room. When it is hot or cold out please make sure you shut the door completely and don't raise the establishments electric bill. read more

I first found OliToki through Eater Boston's "Hottest Restaurants" list. I was skeptic at first because I'm from Los Angeles, where there is no shortage of Korean Mexican fusion food, and was not sure if the east coast would measure up to my expectations. Well, I'm happy to say that I was wrong. The small restaurant/take out spot is located in Brighton (which seems to be hot spot for Korean restaurants) and has about 5 (?) tables inside. The staff was super friendly and patient with us as our group decided on our order. We ended up getting the following items: - Classic Wings: These were delicious! I'm a big wings fan and was happy with these. They were just the right size, crispy, not overly battered and super flavorful. Right now it seems they only have one flavor but hopefully they will introduce more in the near future. We also tried the boneless which I prefer more. - Bulgogi Beef & Cheese Egg Rolls: I'm not usually one to order egg rolls but was quite surprised at how tasty these were. It was a good combo of meat/cheese and the skin was thin and crispy. This was a favorite with my group. (Comes with 3 per order) - Totchos: Huge portion! We ordered this with bulgogi beef and even though it was smothered with meat, cheese, and sauce - the tots remained crispy! There is nothing worse than soggy tots (or fries) so extra points for this! - Packed Rice Bowl: We ordered one with chicken and one with beef. Lots of flavor and a good sized portion for the price! I noticed others had added an egg or avocado to it. Will need to try that next time. - Spam Masubi: you can't go wrong with these. it's spam! Tasty, salty, i-know-this-is bad-for-me-but-it's-so-damn-good spam. I'm glad we were able to get an order of 3 in because shortly after, someone came in and snagged 13 of them! - Loaded Taco Tacos: We ordered all three meat options and they were fresh and tasty. My favorite was the beef but my friends like the pork as well. I hope they will eventually add a hard shell taco option? They also gave our group complimentary macaroons which were pretty dang good. I have a major sweet tooth so that was a nice treat at the end. I was impressed with OliToki and will definitely return. Their staff is delightful and their food is delicious.
