This was the worst possible greet and experience I could have imagined for a first time coming to Olive garden. We walked in and even while standing right in front of what appeared to be the most unprofessional manager i've ever seen, with not only purple hair but a rude attitude, and no concern for guest experience. They sat two other parties before even beginning to ask how many we had, when we told her we were fine with a high top she told us to go ahead and sit down and she'd bring us menus over, over ten minutes passed and we still had no menus or silverware until we literally waked back up to the host stand and asked for them ourselves noting that we'd been told to go ahead and sit. Our server Aiden was great, we have no qualms with him he did a fantastic job and our food was prompt and tasted good. On the other hand we were stared at, and felt ostracized the entire meal by managers and other staff blatantly looking and talking about us the entire meal. The restaurant flavoring is consistent with the chain Italian theme. The server struggled to respect personal space dropping a food cart and picking up dirty dishes within 3 inches of table. The lack of awareness also lead to my bear served with the receipt of another table stuck to the condensation. With arrival at 2:30 the soup had been things so as condensation would bring it's texture right during dinner. Not a great idea with the soup. The kitchen cost a star the server pulled the second two stars. I think there is potential here but today's execution just didn't make it. read more

Unfortunately, I'm done giving Hickory Olive Garden our business. The lady bringing out the to go order thinks she's entitled to more tip money. This is the second encounter with her & LAST!!! Double check your online orders!! She's telling people the tip didn't go through & it's plainly on the receipt & email!! She wants extra tips and gets an hourly wage. I was told the last time her tips aren't guaranteed and it was told to her that she gets a hourly wage higher than wait staff!!! Not to mention we had hot food & cold food in the same bag!! Needless to say the desserts & salads was a hot mess NOT WORTH THE DRIVE AND WASTED MONEY!!!! I definitely will NOT GO BACK!!!! AND they redone the ticket after I paid to charge an ADDITIONAL $10!!! Outstanding OUTSTANDING service! We decided we would eat here on Easter Sunday, (not as an Easter meal but just because we were craving it!) so they were INCREDIBLY busy. The whole restaurant was filled up with customers. As soon as we walked in, there was no wait, and we were seated immediately. We were blessed with the sweetest and most helpful waiter, who brought us samples of the new Sangria fruit drinks. I ended up ordering the green apple moscato, because it was the most sweetest, tastiest drink I think I've ever had from any restaurant. It was like a jolly rancher. I'm not a big alcohol drinker, but the flavor of this sangria had me sold! My husband ordered the berry sangria, which tasted less sweet, and more wine like. As soon as we placed our orders, not even 5 minutes later they were bringing us our soup, salad, and breadsticks... and then before we could get finished with those, our pasta was out! I mean, lightening fast service... ESPECIALLY for Easter Sunday. I have eaten here before and can say that they are always this fast, no matter if they have 1 customer, or 200. The proportions were very large, and I could not finish mine! I had to save what little room I had left to order the dolcini's (which are a must have for me and my husband every time we eat at Olive Garden.) We ordered three of those, white chocolate strawberry & amaretto tiramisu. I could eat these all day long they are so delicious. Go to a different location! My fiancé and I went out for dinner recently and I have to say, this was one of the worst places to eat in Hickory! I have eaten at other Olive Garden restaurants prior to this and it's been wonderful. We waited to be seated for two hours in our vehicle (Which I understand to some extent because of covid, but jeez.) Once we were seated, I immediately felt rushed by the waitress. She wasn't friendly and seemed annoyed by us... We order the fried ravioli appetizer. (DON'T ever do that. It's just chew little hockey pucks with dog food stuffed inside of it.) We ordered soup which had major ingredients missing and two cocktails which also had the fruit missing from it. Once our entrees came out, I noticed that the roasted garlic I requested was missing (they charge extra for that) I told our waitress and she brings me out a MICROWAVED dish of pre-minced, RAW garlic! By this point, my fiancé is done with his meal and I'm just getting started on mine. My fiancé's Alfredo was dry and the noodles were over cooked. Once we left, they watched my fiancé struggle to get the door open to wheel my wheelchair through without offering help... but made sure to lock and shut the doors behind us. The place was packed and the line was out the door. Surprisingly the wait was only 25 min long. The service was great due to the fact that it was very busy due to the holiday. Having worked at this location and lived in Hickory for pretty much my entire life before college, one thing I can say for sure about this location is that it's Olive Garden. The food is relatively consistent, the service is not so much. They had a good deal of turnover due to the way some of the management treated the staff, and it's pretty luck of the draw how your service will turn out. Jamie, the bartender, is a staple at this location and has been there awhile. He's incredible and if you have the chance to sit at the bar while he's working, I highly recommend it. All else aside, it's Olive Garden. Not anything fantastic, nothing really offensive. How can you mess up salad and breadsticks, right? read more

Monday (12/13/21) was the worst meal my wife and I ever had at the Hickory Olive Garden!  The chicken parmigiana WAS one of our favorites to take out and share as we did many times throughout this pandemic, but the meat was so tough, it could not be eaten!  It was like chewing on a shoe!  One of the chicken pieces was OK but the other was cold and seemed to be slightly warmed in a microwave oven after being overcooked.  When we peeled back the breading we could see it had been POUNDED by a tenderizing mallet!  The salad was lacking compared to our past orders.  The breadsticks were good though.  We will not be eating there again! read more
