Oliveira's is definitely worth the trek to Somerville. It's about a 15 min walk from Sullivan Square station with bright green decorations outside. There are two options to dine in: You can either pay by pound (around $9/lb) or order the all you can eat option for ~$30. The AYCE option has more variety and is a lot of fun watching the servers coming to your table with different meats. The food was delicious--each slice of meat has a nice char and layer of seasoning, so you don't get flavorless bites. The top sirloin and the beef ribs were tender and juicy (highly recommend the ribs! A pleasant surprise). The fried rice and stuffed beans were great as well. Of course, the best thing to do at Oliveira's is to go for the all-you-can-eat buffet rodízio-style. Went with a party of 3 on a Friday night in December. We all got the all you can eat. Good variety at the buffet to pair with the meat selections. Salad, fruits, rice, chicken, just to name a few. Decent meat options and the meats rotate fairly quickly. I would recommend the grilled pineapple with cinnamon. It's a nice treat included in the meat madness. Save room for dessert afterward. While it is not included in the all you can eat price, they do offer many options at a fair price. The staff was amazing. Quite possibly one of the best wait staff I ever experienced. They were all super friendly and helpful in explaining the fun concept. After a round or two the staff started to remember my favorite cuts of meat. Very nice setting, much more spacious and attractive than the Oasis Brazilian Restaurant where I usually go, and service is a little faster and more attentive. Tried it out after reading some good reviews, and also like how much closer it is to where I live. Oliveira's is definitely a a bigger place, and the food bar offers a larger selection although the dessert counter (separate from the buffet) is smaller and less mouth-watering. Parking is easier, although the parking lot is tight...you have to be careful not to bump into anyone else; luckily some unmetered street parking is also available. Still, Oasis wins out because the quality of the food is better, despite it having a smaller selection and more of a down-home diner/cafeteria vibe. Their grilled meats are more tender and flavorful, and their fresh fruits are fresher and sweeter. Discovering I can do a pay per pound option at a brazilian steakhouse was literally one of the best thing in my foodie journey. My go to is sirloin steak, medium rare, lamb, and the occasional spicy sausage. I love the rice, pao de queijo, and spaghetti to combat the salty meat, and round out my meal with some watermelon or pineapple. I just want to start with saying this place has dreadful customer service. I wanted to make a reservation for my graduation this coming weekend, the person who I was speaking with on the phone asked what time I wanted to come in. I stated that I was hoping to come in around 4 pm. In addition, there are lots of yummy sides and the choices can change day to day. Some sides are standard (yuca, plantains, rice, beans, etc.). For take out, the price is by the pound. The manager came around to check on us multiple times. I did the buffet which was a really good price compared to other steakhouses. The sides are good, especially the mixed rice and plantains. They have a buffet table that had a variety of dishes that I do not typically see at a Brazillian BBQ place (fried rice, rice, curry, salmon, sushi, etc). I stuck with the typical veggies and some of the veggies looked a bit old, but in general the dishes tasted alright. I'm a bit disappointed in the meats themselves, although they were cooked decently (medium rare), it was very inconsistent in flavors. For the most part, each of the cuts were flavorless. First time at this Brazilian steakhouse. My family and I drove by this place a million times and finally had a chance to try it. The Rodizio is the way to go, especially if it's your first time at a Brazilian steakhouse. The Rodizio allows you to try all the different types of meat they have available! Our waiter was amazing and was so helpful in orienting us to the restaurant and how things worked there. The atmosphere was relaxing. There's less people in the early hours of dinnertime, but as the night got on, more and more people piled into the place and that's when the place became more lively and more busy. I liked how we got to reserve our table on Yelp and just walk right in to our reservation. I noticed a lot of people reserved their tables because the place gets packed real quick. The food was good, but the meat cutters should serve us meats that we want, pertaining to how we want our meat cooked, instead of cutting us meats that were too raw or too cooked for our taste. For the price we paid, I would definitely come again! I visited this steak house for a birthday dinner with a party of 10. We arrived around 6:30pm and were greeted and seated by the friendly staff. The cost of the buffet was only $27 which is significantly cheaper than most Brazilian steak houses. They offered all you can rice , plantains , beans , salad , potatoes and a variety of meat including lamb, sirloin, rib eye , chicken and pork sausage, chicken wrapped in bacon , chicken hearts and a few other selections. I would rate the quality of the meats a 5 out of 10 compared to other steak houses that I've been to. That night they had some drink specials, I particularly enjoyed the pina colada that was served in a coconut. Overall the experience was amazing because we made it that way, the staff and service was impeccable but the food was not that great. I asked for a Chianti at the bar (whatever the house was) and it tasted like turpentine, so bad I gave back to the bartender. I literally had people banging me in the back while waiting in line. We came here for dinner on a Wednesday night and chose the all you can eat option which included a buffet of pastas salads, regular salads, other prepared veggies like squash, fruits, and of course the meat. My personal favorite was the sirloin steak, but my dinner date enjoyed the pork meat. They also had fresh juices and I had the orange juice which was absolutely delicious. I mean, that's not really why you go but gotta keep it honest. The rice is classic, delicious, brazilian rice. occasionally, they'll have a good saucy meat in there, but from my experience it's been overcooked and a little tough. The grilled meats though. THE GRILLED MEATS. they're incredibly seasoned and you can basically get it any way you want it. I'm also a fiend for chicken hearts, and theirs are slightly over-cooked but reaaaallly tasty. Their drink menu is also pretty stellar, and a real highlight of the place. They have beers in the $5 range and delicious caipirinhas and mixed drinks. I cannot begin to express how big of a fan I am of this place! After discovering Oliveira's through a friend (Malden location), I found out this location super close to me in Somerville. One time, I came here a week straight. There is a huge selection of food here, but I've been sticking to my favorites rare/medium-rare sirloin steak (picanha), yummy white rice, plantains, and flan. Each of those are probably some of the best I've ever had. I've rarely ever deviated from these options because they already make the foodie in me so happy. Staff is always great when I dine in or when I carry out. The prices are hard to beat. Overall, it's a place that I keep finding myself coming back to for the great food quality and affordability. During the week, it's hard for me to want to eat anything else. I love the weigh-your-food option, as I get as much or as little as I want, depending on how hungry I am. I've always chosen to weigh my food as I don't typically eat all that much food. Certainly not enough to make the all-you-can-eat option worth it. I've been to many places that serve rodizio style and picanha is one of my favorites so I was super excited. The picanha and all the meats in general seemed under seasoned and kind of tough compared to other places I've been. Also, I brought my 12 year old for the all you can eat option..when we received the check, my husband asked why we were charged full price and the waitress said that 12 year old children are charged full price.
