Service Tech are great but the company is not customer friendly! Takes forever to make appt and now they are shipping equipment they use to you and making you keep it for a year. The empty boxes are huge and have to be discarded in your trash. The filters etc that you keep take up room in your hone for a year!!! They are just offloading more of their work to their customers. He was extremely thorough, explained everything he did, took the time to answer all of my questions, and cleaned up every area that he serviced. He also scoured out the overflow pump and cleaned the condenser unit ouside...two things no technician has ever done while checking the AC. Wonderful, talented and honest people. This company is not only professional, competent and wonderful to do business with but they are beyond compassionate when you work for them. My husband became very ill while working there and there wasn't anything they wouldn't do to help him feel better and get back on his feet. He was impressed in the beginning that they held hands and said a prayer at meetings. These are the people I would want in my home. They are particular about who they hire unlike some companies who hire and try to train they only hire the most qualified and competent so your work is done perfectly throughout the process. They respect your homes as if they were their own. Their work is impeccable and done from start to finish by the most qualified and experienced engineers and technicians. We just experienced a devastating EF3 tornado and my husband says the owners have called only to see how we are doing and how they could help. They care. As a Registered Nurse, obviously not in this business, I am impressed by their ethics, morals and sense of pride and caring. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I have an understanding that HVAC services can be very expensive at times, but over the last 4 weeks Oliver has been bleeding my bank account to a new level of dry. Their technicians are very experienced and well mannered, but the company's customer service is rude, incompetent, and overcharge for services. I called Oliver last month for a checkup on my heater because it needed some maintenance. I signed up to be a "preferred customer." Manny, who came out to my house was a very knowledgeable technician and he explained to me how to replace 2 simple parts myself so that I would not be charged an additional $200-$300 on top of the $200 I was already paying for the visit. He did a fabulous job and tried to save me as much money as he could. Earlier this week the heater shut itself off in the middle of the night, so I called the next day to schedule a visit. Despite being guaranteed over the phone that 24/7 service would be provided to me as a "preferred customer," nobody could be sent out. Oliver sent another technician out the following night. Parts to my heater that were just replaced a few weeks ago were replaced again and I was charged a "discounted" price of $493. I understand parts break/malfunction and there were extenuating circumstances in this particular situation. I get that. However, my heat was still not able to be turned back on (despite the guarantee from customer service over the phone that it would be that night) and the technician informed me that Oliver could sell me a space heater for $45. Not only was I left without heat for another night, but I was not even offered a space heater to borrow. Turns out I couldn't even BUY a space heater even if I wanted to because there weren't any on this technician's truck. So, I had to go out to the store at 11:00 at night to buy one myself. Before the technician left, he informed me that I needed to have another Oliver technician come out to complete a special cleaning for inside my heater even though it was cleaned last month by the first technician. He also said that someone from Oliver would call in the morning to schedule this cleaning. No one ever called today like they again guaranteed. My mother called Oliver on my behalf while I was finishing up at work. Christina, the manager, told her that I replaced parts which didn't need replacing and that's why we are having so many issues with the heater. This was said despite documentation from the technician that these parts ABSOLUTELY, 100% needed to be replaced ASAP. We were also then informed that we should've been given a space heater overnight on lend, which obviously did not happen (another $50 down the drain). Then she goes on to say that this cleaning will cost us over $350. So that's over $1,000 in a month's span for what the technicians claimed were minor repairs. Avoid Oliver if you can. They are not worth the headache. All of this nonsense for my heater that is only 7 years old. read more

This took place during COVID-19. The technician was fine. The pricing is RIDICULOUS. Basically, they are looking to take EVERY penny they can. (Even during a global emergency). $89 just to arrive to location. Diagnosed as: "LOW WATER CUTOFF DISABLED THE SYSTEM. I FILLED THE BOILER TO 15 PSI AND IT CAME ON". (Otherwise known as turning a valve one way, and then another - 30 seconds of service max). Cost for this service: $108. Asked about having a programmable thermostat installed. Quoted $432 for customer provided thermostat installation. This was completed on our own in about 15 minutes. We do NOT recommend Oliver HVAC of Morton based on excessive pricing!!! read more

The service provided by Oliver is great. They are friendly and respond quickly. However, the cost of service is quite a bit higher than other competitors. Also in my personal situation, when I required an emergency service, I did get someone out the same day, but couldn't get a cost estimate up front, so I was quite surprised by the cost. Service would be a 4.5 but cost brings the review down a bit. read more

The service has been fine--they seem to respond quickly, though the last two times they basically blackmailed us into purchasing the long-term annual contract by saying they are only sending those calls out that day (hard to say no when you have no heat). We had them out in November 2014 to fix our heater which went out. Service call fine, paid for the visit, and didn't think anything of it. Received an $80.10 charge YESTERDAY (1/8/2015) over 7 weeks later out of the blue (no note, no call about the charge). Contacted them and they said that when we paid in November they only processed the parts & labor, not the diagnostic charge. We asked why it was run so much later without notice (thank goodness we had money in the account) and they said their billing department "was out for a while." No apologies, no explanations other than that. Not happy and will not use again after our contract expires. read more

Heater stopped working. Oliver tech came out and after 30 minutes of looking at it advised me I needed $1,248.00 worth of parts. Never did get my heat up and running. With smirk on her face advised me I can order parts now or I will be calling back. I called a reputable heating company in the next day and within 10 minutes fixed the issue which was clogged water lines. Also advised nothing wrong with the parts Oliver wanted to replace. Only fee was the service call. I sent a letter to Oliver and never heard back. Either an inept tech or he was trying to rip me off. Actually they did rip me off because I paid a service fee for absolutely NOTHING. What happened to you Oliver? Too big anymore? Fair warning. Stay away from these clowns. read more

The other day, I was quoted a $89 diagnostic fee for a heat pump problem and when the technician came out he informed me that was only for the 1st 5 minutes, and an additional $93 was likely to be charged, and if that wasn't OK I could cancel. I already took the day so I let him go ahead. Very bad business practice. They should quote the full diagnostic fee. Also, he diagnosed a TXV problem and said that it would be over $2,000 and should consider a new system. Got a price from a yelp 5 star contractor for about $1,000. I will never use Oliver again. My only complaint with this company is that when you ask for quotes on a couple of project's that you are thinking of getting done they will combine the two quotes together to charge you more money. Oliver is very good, but when it comes to the service technicians it can be hit or miss. I have repeatedly had one extremely professional and experienced technician service my house on two separate occasions. Oliver technician Mr. Samuel Bailey, he helped us with a pilot valve issue and again with a gas leak which was actually caused by another technician (the proof was in the pipe). Always when I have a problem it bounces down the line until Samuel shows up and actually fixes it. I almost lost my faith in Oliver with this past gas leak issue; Samuel put my faith back in this company. Excellent work! read more

They listened and reviewed the situation, gave me a clear, fair estimate of the work, and got busy. During the work he discovered other issues and was great about recommending the best strategy. Don't let them sell you the plumbing inspection if you are asking for a repair. $93 gets you an estimate on everything they recommend updating/replacing and no repair. You have to review the estimate and make another appointment. What a rip off. $93 for inspection and an estimate of over $313 to replace a pop up assembly in a sink. We have been using Oliver for a number of years and have had nothing but great service. However, we recently had a major sewer backup and when I called the call rep. said that you did not have the equipment to handle the problem. They recommended another company. Trusting that the reference would be as reasonable I called. The bill for cleaning the blockage was over $500 - for an hour of work. I know we have used other companies in the past for this problem and the bill was much less than half that amount for the same degree of service. I think that you should change you 'recommended' service provider when the job cannot be done by your own people. read more

We have been Oliver residentialcustomers for over 12 years; I paid them to install my system and then pay my contract maintenance agreement every year. Fortunately we had our first problem with our system this past weekend. Unfortunately, we found that Oliver does have a very good service department. The technician could not remedy the problem and charged a diagnostic fee, even though we knew what the problem was when he walked in the door. He suggested we upgrade our service plan, but did not say that there would be any cost savings for a repair, so he want us to pay more money for bad service. The part will not be in as promised and they will not schedule an appointment to install the part, which gives me no confidence that the part will be available. The individuals that answer the phone are rude and inconsiderate, in order to appease you they transfer you to a department that places you on hold and then dumps you into voice mail. I talked to the service manager and she was just as rigid. Oliver is officially fired from my residential service. read more

We just had Oliver out to perform our annual HVAC inspection. Our upstairs AC wasn't working and this system is 20 years old. The tech said we probably need to replace it. After further investigation, he found the issue and was able to fix it for a few hundred dollars. If he had been dishonest, I would have purchased the new system!!! That saved me a bundle. You can bet that I will use Oliver when it's time to replace it and I will certainly recommend them to my friends. The value by not selling me something I didn't need is far greater than whatever profit they would have earned. They installed my heat pump over a year ago with very large holes in the ceiling and wall of my closet where the heT pump was installed. The technician who performed this had nothing on his mind but going home on a Friday. Over time, I had mice and two bats come in thought the crawl space, thanks to Oliver. They did come out once after a million phone calls and put a cover on a return vent. I have to hire. a handy man since they refuse to call me back and Spring will be here. They did the same in my basement. I had those holes caulked by a friend. BEWARE. They wanted to upsell for a service plan, but I went with the coupon from the mailer as I can do a lot of the easier maintenance myself. They sent out a technician named Ryan Wilkenson. He was prompt, clean, courteous and did a great job. He also gave some great tips and advice on how to keep the system running well and serviced. While we were happy we got a prompt response, we were not happy with the service or the price. The technician that came reeked of smoke. He worked on the HVAC unit for 25 min to replace the gas valve. He went up to the thermostat to find out it still wasn't working. Turns out he put the OLD gas valve in, not the NEW gas valve so he had to do the work a 2nd time, for a total of 45 minutes now. All of the sudden I'm smelling A LOT of gas. I questioned the technician and he said "Yeah I forgot to seal off the pipe and gas got out but it's not dangerous to your health." Seriously? I couldn't believe they charged us $647 for this ordeal which was all labor because our unit is under warranty!! The next time we lost heat we hired a local company and the charge was only $125 so we now have a service contract with them. When I called Oliver customer service the manager did not seem to care about our concerning technician and instead, just tried to sell me their service agreement. Um, why would I want to have a service agreement with a company that I do not trust and overcharges? read more

Extremely, extremely frustrated with my experiences in dealing with Oliver. Two and a half years ago I made a purchase for a new heat pump and every time a new season comes around, something is wrong with the system. So with my latest troubles (which is still ongoing), the A/C is not working properly. A technician comes outs on a Wednesday, spends over two hours here and cannot correct the problem because the part is not in hand (a part that has been recalled, but I'm told that owners aren't notified...its "replace upon failure"). So I'm told I will get a call the next morning and a "Lead" or "Sr. Technician" will come out and install the part the next day and perform the appropriate tests. I never get a call the next morning, in fact it is after two attempts on my part that I finally reach somebody ~2:30pm (not the morning as promised). A different technical shows up that night (not "Lead" or "Sr. Technician" as promised), and low and behold he comes with the wrong part. This would be the second instance a technician has showed up at my house with an incorrect part for repair. Over two hours later, a "tune-up" was done on the unit (which I don't understand how you do a tune-up on a unit that is not functioning properly) and a fuse was replaced where I was told that this should bring the proper air flow back to the system, but I still need the correct part installed (the part that was not delivered as promised). Low and behold, 20 minutes after the technician leaves, the error / fault codes (red lights) are blinking on the unit again rendering it useless. So yet again I am supposed to receive a call from Oliver in the morning to verify that the correct part will be sent with the technician to come back and install. Everyday is groundhog day. When does it end! Why can't a two year old system perform like a two year old system? And when will the technicians come prepared to do the job that is supposed to be done? If the system is a lemon, it needs to be replaced. I am tired of having to wait around and waste time just to have Oliver back at the house, only to have them come back out the next day, and the next day. read more

Updating my previous review. I called Oliver to have them come back out and finish the repair on the sink. It was a bit of an ordeal getting them to agree to come back out without the "but we might make you pay an $89 service call fee again" caveat, and I suspect the only reason they finally agreed to remove that caveat was that I called multiple times, spoke with a supervisor, sent a picture of the repair which clearly showed the gap (none of which seemed to be sufficient to warrant immediate removal of said caveat), and the guy who did the repair was honest enough to acknowledge the error (which I strongly suspect was the only reason I was able to get the caveat removed). I bumped the review up by one star because I was impressed by the professionalism and honesty of the guy who made the repair and he was able to fix the problem (the leak is now fully repaired). I would still strongly recommend against using this company. Getting them to stand behind their work feels like pulling teeth and they are extremely expensive relative to the competition. In my opinion, the guys who are actually out in the field, doing the repairs, aren't the problem (my experiences with them have been quite positive) - the company itself is the problem. read more

We had some trouble with a clogged toilet in August and called to have it checked out. I was talked into a service plan which I paid over the phone only to have the tech come out and say nothing was wrong and charge another fee because he didn't do any work. Since them I have had several calls claiming that they never got to do he complimentary inspection to which I replied NO THANKS. I don't want to be charged another service fee by you for nothing. I asked to be taken off the call list and most likely will not be going with them in the future. Thanks for charging me a total of $170 for nothing and we did have a clog that we handled on our own.
