Food, service, and atmosphere were great! Had the French toast combo and the meat lovers skillet. The french toast was creamy and hot. The ML skillet was not greasy at all. The only complaint was they give margarine instead of real butter.

Hidden gem to say the least! The service was phenomenal with very personable staff. The food is all house made and you can taste the difference. It isn't Sysco potatoes, they make their ingredients from fresh food. We got the original breakfast, a sandwich and a burrito. Everything was 10/10. We will be back, add this to your breakfast list!

The place wasn't busy at all in a Sat afternoon. We sat down immediately, the hot chocolate was good and the cookie was a cute addition! The chicken wrap was good but there was a bit too much lettuce and the crispy tender wasn't that crispy maybe it softened a bit from the sauce. The biscuits and gravy were good and the sausage was soooo flavorful! The nice surprise was the fries, cooked perfectly!

I couldn't finish the pancakes and hash brown because of the taste.

My husband and I were visiting Portland and wanted to try something new. Found this place since it was close to our VRBO. Too bad the food wasn't good and the place was basically a one woman show! First of all, after we sat ourselves, it took a while to get service. But that's because the place was semi busy and only one server was doing everything! From making drinks to serving, to probably cooking the meal, she did it all. The tables needed to be bussed but it seemed like no one was bussing them, so there were more dirty tables than clean ones. It was very unpleasant. When we finally got our food, I was pretty disappointed in my breakfast. I had pancakes, sausage links and subbed out the eggs for hash brown. The pancakes were pretty inedible. They were rubbery and hard around the edges, and they had no flavor. The hash browns tasted like old oil. The sausage was the only good thing on my plate. Also they served the syrup in a big ramekin so it was hard to pour just a little syrup at a time. My husband got the French toast, bacon and eggs. He said the food was okay. But the French toast wasn't quite done right. His food seemed edible but didn't have much flavor. Although our server Chloe was busy, she really took care of us. She even brought my husband an extra ice tea without him having to ask. I felt bad that she was so busy and had no help. So we left her a really good tip. Unfortunately, we won't be coming here again.

We wanted to try someplace new for breakfast and I'd read good things about this place before. Opted for a scramble and it was tasty. Lots of potatoes, but the English muffin wasn't really toasted and without proper containers for the jelly it just kind of spilled in the container. Now I don't have enough jelly for my bread and my savory food is now sweet. Not the end of the world, but they need lids for delivery. No meat in our dishes so we ordered sides. Bacon was thick and had a good flavor. Price was okay. Maybe dining in is better, but I'll probably never know.

Looking to try breakfast spots in the area and found this. They open at 8am everyday which is awesome! Better yet, they have a shared parking lot! This place is right off of 205 and has great visibility from the street. A regular was waiting outside with us as we waited for it to open. We were quickly greeting and chose a spot for us to sit. Upon walking in, it looked really nice and upscale with the dark wood trim and dark table tops and seating. Tall ceilings also gave it an open feeling. I splurged and got the stuff french toast combo while my son got the kielbasa scramble. Both were really good. The stuffed french toast wasn't super sweet like you'd get at IHOP. If you're looking for that, you won't get it here. Service was pleasant. I'd say price was average for the area. Due to ease of access, plenty of parking and good food and service, I would dine here again.

This is basically a potato soup that doused with too much salt and black pepper.

It seems like a nice cafe but with a Chinese twist I'm guessing, I ordered a Meat Lover's Skillet thinking and expecting a Meat Lover's Skillet! The menu description says sausages and meat with vegetables sautéed on a skillet, so what I envisioned and what I received was 2 totally different things. The waitress came by asking if everything was okay, I told her that I was expecting a food on a skillet and sautéed meat and vegetables? It's like they threw in some chopped onions and bell peppers with potatoes? Doesn't come anywhere close to what I was expecting and maybe they should really comprehend the written English language that's printed on their menu. I also ordered their house coffee which seemed a bit too acidic like it was brewed longer than 30 minutes ago and it was just sitting on the warmer. I also asked the waitress owner woman and she said it was beef vegetable soup, so I imagined Campbell's beef with vegetables soup. As you can see it's a potato soup with ground beef?!?!? After tasting the soup the sensory overload happened! All I can taste was "SALT & BLACK-PEPPER!" Soup was too salty and really peppery it wasn't edible! I only ate the 2 eggs and drank half cup of coffee and left everything else! Apparently when the Chinese lady says vegetable she's referring to potatoes! For $32.40 I can get a really decent, tasty and edible food elsewhere than this place.

It's rare to find a restaurant that is the perfect trifecta. Delicious food with fresh ingredients (we asked about their sourcing they support local farms!), genuinely wonderful owners with fantastic service across the board, and fair prices. Not to mention the place is super clean which is huge for me. Love this place. I order from DoorDash for it regularly and dine in. Would recommend it day in and day out. Oh and they are fast! It's so good. Ok stop reading this and go try it! You won't be disappointed. Love small businesses with integrity and passion!

I was recommended this restaurant awhile back but hadn't had the chance to try it until recently and I have definitely missed out! I'm a big fan of breakfast food and thought the entrees were well worth it. Upon walk in, we were greeted and there is a sign to let you know to seat yourself and then they will serve you. We waited between 5-10min for others finish up and ended up at the bar because there were actually no other seats available and this was around 12pm on a Sunday. The employees are very friendly and attentive. It looks like a family owned business. I wouldn't say the restaurant looks like any new modern brunch restaurant but I find these types of restaurants to be the best hole in the walls. We ordered the kielbasa scramble with home fries and sourdough, and stuffed French toast with sausage and sunnyside eggs. Honestly the kielbasa was delicious! It looks so simple but there was so much flavor. The home fries weren't really seasoned but they were crispy and a little salt and pepper doesn't hurt. I still found them to be really delicious. The sourdough was surprisingly good because I am use to sourdough being more thinner and a little rougher but this one was soft, fluffy and they added butter. I could eat so many slices! I would say a 9/10 rating in my book. The stuffed French toast was good but I wish it was a little more crispy. You can never go wrong with eggs and the sausage was actually really good as well, as bland as it looks. A lot of flavor! I'd give this a 8/10. Portions for both entrees were a large and we cleaned our plates! Bang for your buck for sure. There is street parking right in front of the restaurant, but I'm not too sure about behind the building. Either way, the entrance is facing the street with a sign that says "cafe." Don't judge a book by the cover here. I'll definitely be back!

We were visiting Portland and were staying a few blocks from here, so we decided to try it. This was a Wednesday morning around 10 am, so it wasn't busy at all. Everything was very quick, and the prices were reasonable, which we definitely appreciated! I ordered an omelet, and my husband ordered the breakfast burrito. My meal was ok, I feel like breakfast potatoes can make or break a plate, and the ones I had were just ok. The omelet was a very good size, and it was pretty good. The burrito was huge, my husband definitely could not finish it but he liked it. Service was very kind, and we were in and out pretty quickly. Most of the menu had a pretty good price, and I would definitely go back to try something else.

We stopped in because we wanted some place close to home. Found them on yelp and wanted to check them out. The food was alright, big portions, but the service was not that great. Ordered the smoked brisket hash and French toast. The smoked brisket was pretty good. The meat was very flavorful but the dish was a little too cheesy. The French toast was pretty basic. The texture was weird, like rubbery. They also have bottomless mimosas for $14. Small restaurant and it was not very busy. read more

I don't know what happened to our beloved Oliver's Cafe... We started going there 10 years ago, and the food was fantastic, and the service was even better. The food is still decent, but the service is 100% horrible now. Not sure if this place changed owners or what the reason is. Went there a few months ago and walked out because the wait staff literally ignored us for 10min after we sat down. We gave it one more shot last week for lunch, and the service still sucked. Our waitress slammed down a couple of waters and said,"You good with water?" and then scurried away. After she gave us our food, that was the last we heard from her. While we were eating, she sat at the bar eating her lunch with her back to us. If you've ever been in the restaurant biz that's a no-no. Do not eat in front of the customers. So she ignored us the entire time we ate because she was focused on her own meal. There was one other table that she ignored as well. Two tables for lunch, mind you, is not a good sign. Smh. Really a shame. It's a cute cafe and good location with off-street parking. To the owner: fire your wait staff. They either hate their job or have no experience waiting tables. Your sales will suffer endlessly and eventually lead to your demise. Awful, awful service. Better off going to IHOP down the road. read more

Very disappointed. When the food arrived, it looked good. Quite obvious that the eggs were over cooked and burnt after the first bite. I turned over the eggs and they were brown on the bottom. This was clearly intentionally hidden. They knew they burnt them and instead of tossing, they served them this way. Yet the hash browns were undercooked. read more

This is a very nice cafe. Good coffee. Bottomless mimosas? Whaaat! Dungeness crab Benedict was excellent. Will come back again & again. Only thing I can say that they need to work on, and not really there problem in the common area carpet. It is discussing. I thing original color is brown. That thing is black. It might be time to call Jenny's Carpet Cleaning. read more

Oliver's is a nice spot for breakfast/brunch. Sadly they no longer have their bottomless mimosas anymore but their mimosas are big and tasty. The food was very good, the biscuits and gravy I got wasn't the best I have ever had, but above average. The gravy was very thick and super creamy, which is appreciated. My SO got a BLT lettuce wrap which was very fresh and flavorful. The bacon was crispy, and the fries on the side were all around good. The poached eggs with my order were done exactly how I wanted them which isn't always the case. The staff is very friendly and helpful for picking what to get. I did notice when it was busy they seemed a bit over loaded, but it got better as the lunch rush ended. read more

Came in for brunch today at 1130 am. One person working the front. She was pretty busy but it appeared everyone was being served. I ordered a fajita scramble and the waitress suggested avocado to be added. I took her suggestion and ordered it. She came back with the meal and it didn't have avocado on top. I asked if it was mixed in, and she replied 'you have to order it'. I replied 'I did order it. You suggested that I should'. She then said 'oh that's right' and looked blankly. I told her not to worry about it, and she then said it's better with it. I again, refused. She was appearing overwhelmed. She never came back to check on me. Not once. What made this strange is she walked by my table multiple times. Food was ok, service was bad. Really really bad. Overpriced for what you get and how you get it. read more

Olivers café... What can I say? Love you atmosphere love the food came out quick and delicious service was good as well. I would call ahead if you have a group bigger than five though because it isn't the biggest café around but they've definitely worked at the floor plan to make it work. read more

It was okay... Nice waitress. We liked hash browns, biscuits...and the sandwiches and burgers. Other items were not as good as we had hoped for with a solid 4-star Yelp review. I got a California omelette and country potatoes. My omelette was over-done to my tastes, and very little avocado...and I should have went with hash browns over the potatoes. Oh well...not bad. Would we go back? Yes, but we would not search them out. But maybe we caught them at an "off" moment, as far as the food is concerned. Good service from the waitress. read more

Was craving a sausage cheese scramble around noon. Just some good home style breakfast. Pictures looked good so thought I'd give it a try. The good: Super friendly waitress. And just down to earth Had exactly what I was looking for. Hash browns just way I liked it. Best English muffins ever. Why? Cuz they put so much butter on there. Amazing. The little things right? When in Oregon for a friend's baby shower we needed somewhere that had breakfast food and not a huge line (it IS Portland after all). This place was nearby and the reviews seemed decent so we dropped in. Semi-busy we waited a really long time to have a server see us - I believe this is a big flaw in the seat-yourself system. Once she took our orders though the service was better - the food was good but the home fries seemed a bit plain for my taste. Literally just potatoes thrown in a fryer. Not even much salt on them. I'd be willing to give it another shot. The waitress stated they were short handed so I'm guessing it was a fluke. read more

The Sunday special of berry French toast is the best I've had. It is different than traditional French toast. I found it similar to a Crape filling and topping, between French toast. Yum! Will have again and again and again. Thanks to Walt, my waiter, for recommending it. read more

Tucked away on a busy little street this place is awesome! I believe this is a new restaurant based off the building and never seeing it before whilst driving by frequently. I've been here a few times and everything I get is amazing and priced very cheap. The last time I went I got the breakfast burrito. It was huge and very inexpensive. It came with black beans. They needed a little seasoning but all in all quite yummy. My girlfriend got the French dip sandwich and she loved it. It too was portioned very well. Overall I definitely recommend this small little cafe to everyone looking for amazing food for a good deal. read more

I love Oliver's Cafe so much that I used to order food 2-3 times a month, if not more when I got a specific craving. Their food is so good and always consistent in quality even though I get it delivered, which is honestly impressive. Lol. I sadly moved out of delivery range but I was in the neighborhood today, and everything is just as delicious as I remembered!! Not only that, but I had a specific craving for chocolate chip pancakes and didn't see an option on the menu. So I just put it in the notes on the Grubhub order, and they were kind enough to add them! It might seem like a small thing but this totally made my whole day, thanks y'all!! Definitely can't recommend this place enough for delicious brunch foods. I'll have to visit my sister's house more often for purely selfish reasons of eating here again in the future. read more

First time here. Wait staff was friendly. Kinda had a Hawthorne feel to it. I just wanted some hash browns and gravy. Hashbrows were Denny's style and gravy was Luke warm served on the side, thank goodness, cause it was too salty and did not taste good. The Mimosas were popular. My friend ordered an omelet and noted that it was kinda dry. My overall impression was meh. read more

Wish I could give 4.5 that's more accurate. This place is CLEAN! For a small little place it feels bright and open and well cared for. The food was really good and certainly with the money. I got the stuffed French toast and was pleasantly full. My partner couldn't get through her entire "delicious with everything I could ask for" veggie skillet. Or server, Summer, reminded me of how good service should be. She was fast, friendly, good with my daughter, and kept track of us without ever seeming to hover or bother. I will be back and bring family. Thank you Oliver's. read more

There's been a change of ownership and the quality has gone downhill drastically. They've replaced pretty much all of the staff, including the talented lead cook and the awesome waitstaff. One of the cooks likes to belittle staff right in front of customers. My last meal was a Greek scramble. The eggs were burnt, the onions were both burnt and undercooked. There was no salt/seasoning. The hashbrowns were also soggy and the English muffin was stale. I had to wipe residue and food particles off all my utensils, and my subpar coffee also came in a dirty cup. read more

Recently moved into the area and needed some breakfast after a long night out, this cafe was in walking distance for me and surprised me with the relax atmosphere & great customer service. The breakfast was "American" standard, I'll definitely be back regularly from now on. 7/10 read more

The mimosa was delicious. That was about the extent of the positives. The food was meh.. We ordered the chicken fried steak and the Oliver omelet. The omelet was bland. So was the gravy on the steak. Very bland. The worst part of the experience was the wait time. 50 min. To get our food once it was ordered. With the amount of choices we have in the area, this place probably won't get repeat business from me. read more

The prices are pretty reasonable the place is really clean customer service was nice kids menu is a really great deal. They're open at eight we went for breakfast the breakfast I would say is 3.8 out of five stars I did not like the sausage they used in the omelette that I had but everything else was fine I would definitely go again but at order bacon no sausage read more

My friend Bob and I stopped in here after reading all the good reviews. I had the Oliver Omelet with pepper jack cheese and it was delish! The hashbrowns were perfect too. The jam for the English muffin did not have much flavor so that's the only thing I would change up. Bob's eggs were also great as was the sausage however he said the pancakes were a but chewy. It's a nice and clean restaurant and the best part is our waitress Sarah was so sweet and kind! She made us feel welcome and we will definitely be back!! Also there is plenty of off street parking in their lot. Juat make sure you dont park in the other businesses areas. read more

I want to like Oliver's Cafe, I really do. The food was mediocre at best, everything tasted blend. Customer service was great with very friendly staff, but our table of 5 waited a bit longer than expected for our food to come out - probably around 25 mins from ordering to serving. Unlimited mimosa is definitely a big plus, so if you're looking for that this will be the spot for you. Parking is behind the restaurant with plenty of space. It's easy to find and right off the freeway. read more

Wasted two hours of our lives here on a Sunday. They are obviously understaffed for their demand. Both in the kitchen and front staff. Absolutely worst hot chocolate I've ever had. And I get people mostly come for the mimosas but still. We surly thought the wait must be worth it, NOPE. Food was worse than you'd find at an Elmer's. Want a stiff dried out pancake? Not the cutest cafe or neighborhood, but my one experience was very good. I enjoyed the biscuit breakfast sandwich for $3.95, which is a deal. The biscuit was soft the way I like 'em, it didn't crumble with each bite. The pastry case was half empty at 9:30 a.m. The server, the daughter of the owner, was very friendly. Like many such places they lacked in the condiment selection: bland Cholula and Tabasco were the only hot sauces choices. Oliver's Cafe is one of the few brunch places nearby my house that I was ever so happy to be introduced to. Convenient location with parking lot at the back of the strip mall building, the place itself was cozy and never really too busy. There isn't a whole lot to choose from on their menu, which works to my advantage! It is not overwhelming and I can always pick what I want, whether it is sweet or savory. My favorite is the Oliver's Omelette and their french toasts. Yum. Prices are also reasonable for a good portion. If you are a mimosa lover, this is the right place for you, since they offer unlimited mimosa. They have coffee and tea selection as you would have expected in any cafes. Overall, a decent stop for when I don't want to go too far for good food! read more

Came in with my mom while she was in town. We sat up at the bar. Seemed as though the gal behind the counter was the only server there and she was KILLING it!! Refills were on point, food came out quick and she was so sweet! Our breakfast was amazing. So flavorful and fresh. Will definitely be coming back, so glad I live close!! read more

Before leaving town we were in dire need of some breakfast and a quick search of places nearby brought us to Oliver's. This place was a quaint cafe located in a strip mall. The staff was very friendly and did not get overwhelmed when our large group took over a quarter of their dining area. The breakfast burrito I got was absolutely amazing. The egg, the turkey sausage, and surprisingly the potatoes as well all made for a dish that I am starting to crave for as I write this review. All the other orders in the group were made promptly and left everyone satisfied. I would highly recommend this place and wish it was located near my place of living so I could take advantage of such a gem. read more

The Thai steak tartare tostadas were incredibly balanced, with brightness and herbaceous notes from the vegetables, herbs, and sauce, great punch from the Thai spices, richness from the tartare, and a nice snap and slight nuttiness from the tapioca crisps cradling everything underneath. The foie gras dumplings were simply divine. I expected them to be rich and dense, but they were like little pillows, with a savory filling and a perfect balance of smoked leek broth, crispy fried leeks, and a caramelized shallot jam that ended up being the surprise star of the dish for me. Then came the main event, the Duck Stack, which I can only describe as a McGriddle on steroids (in the best possible way!). Somehow it all worked beautifully, with the rich duck gravy, fluffy pancakes drenched in syrup, spiced onions, and a fried duck egg tying everything together in perfect harmony. It was one of those dishes that sounds wild on paper but is totally brilliant on the plate and in your mouth. The halibut was ok too, we liked the pickled cherries but the whole dish didn't come together in the way we wished the flavors would. Overall, I'd say the food was a 6.5/10 and wait staff confusion was a 4/10. Midway thru our meal our waiter asked if we wanted dessert before we wrapped up and we were confused because we still had half our dishes and he just walked away. Then at the end it took several attempts to flag someone down to pay our bill, which added another 15 minutes next to meltdown Mariah next to us which felt like an eternity. For the amount we spent, I definitely think you could get a better meal elsewhere.

Tucked into the corner of SW 12th and Alder in the West End, the space is warm and comfortable with wood accents, soft leather banquettes, and just the right amount of energy. The Dolly Focaccia with roasted garlic and olive oil, the Roasted Carrot & Farro Salad and the Grilled Heirloom Carrots are all simple and delicious. On the pasta side, the Tagliatelle al Burro is perfect, and the Black Kale Pesto Mafaldine with roasted mushroom and the Braised Short Rib Arancini with pecorino aioli and honey are equally good choices if you're after something a little more complex. The folks who work here are knowledgeable and attentive, never intrusive. Even with the drive in now, it's worth it every time. Highly recommend, whether it's a special occasion or just a reason to head back downtown.

Luckily, I was able to secure a reservation. The walk over was under 10 minutes for both of us. It gave me just the perfect amount of time to kill a j. I was ready to drink all the things. Sure enough, my hydration station had 3 options. Limoncello spritz for the fun category, water for hydration and Americano soda for the caffeine. The spritz was perfection. We started off with an order of the arancini. As we were unsure if we would like it, we got one then got another one as soon as we got our first bite. That was followed by the donuts. We were all in agreement that some type of dipping sauce would be a nice touch. My suggestion is dulce de leche. We then went to town on the broccoli &! Italian sausage, hash and tagliatelle. When I tell you - I was in food heaven. That tagliatelle was IT. My friends were kind enough to let me finish the rest. I gave way to the other two. Despite being ridiculous full, we still managed to make room for dessert. We got the cookie and lemon pound cake. Bro that pound cake can get it. The mascarpone whip on top made me tingle on the inside after I got a taste. My gawd I wanted to eat the whole thing. The biggest compliment came at the end of the night when my friend told me I chose the perfect spot and picked all the right dishes. Big thanks to Mike for taking such great care of us. He had the best response to my answer when he asked if we had allergy restrictions. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in town.

Ok, so I have lived in this neighborhood my whole life. There are not a lot of great choices for food so I love to try new places. My friends and I popped into Oliver's one morning. I had a breakfast burrito. The food is ok. Nothing amazing. Let's face it, there's not a lot to choose from around here. The cafe is clean and doesn't feel cramped. The food is just good and reasonably priced. I had higher hopes for this place. This building is the nicest around and I expected better. There used to be a little cafe in this space that was fun and had great options. My biggest complaint was the wait for our food and our waitress seemed really unprofessional. I think we all agreed that we would rather travel a short ways to Arleta Library or even Tin Shed on Alberta. If I had to come up with a one word description it would be bland. read more
