Berry Scone & Medium Caramel Latte
    Jennifer S.

It was an EARLY morning drive from Salem to deliver my teen for a 6 am flight at PDX. We left the house at 3:30 and I waited until she got through her TSA check and boarded at 5:30 before leaving. As I began my trip home, I realized I needed a jolt of java to keep me going and referred to Yelp for recommendations. Jenni's was open and a quick trip off the interstate. It's a cozy little spot with a small dining room, outdoor space and local offerings. The owner greeted me, and explained that she was baking more pastries after being nearly depleted, but there were several breads and scones available in addition to her breakfast menu. She also has an extensive selection of flavored Torani syrups to make the perfect cup. She'd explained that most of small coffee spots closed over Covid, but that she made a point to keep her hours for shift workers, and was one of the few remaining in Portland. A full meal would've put me to sleep, so I chose the berry scone and a caramel latte. She warmed my pastry and made sure I was pleased with my drink as a regular customer walked in and ordered his usual. The coffee did the trick keeping me alert and the berries burst of flavor with each bite of scone I took. As I pulled into my driveway, I smiled at the human connection and experience I had supporting another small business and was grateful for Yelp's resource guiding me there. Please show her some love and stop by for breakfast or brunch to enjoy a cup o' joe, some delicious homemade treats, or a full service meal.

A women own establishment. Staff if friendly and food is amazing. Food is homemade nothing frozen as if it was made by mom. Portions are not pretty big and delicious.

Besides how delicious this food was, the owner Jenni is the most sweetest, caring person! She sat with me and kept me company and we conversed about how she started her business! I ordered three hot chocolates, a banana bread, strawberry pound cake, and the breakfast picture below. 10/10 would recommend!

Comfort food at it's finest..Fantastic homemade goodness. Coffee, large tasty fresh made sandwiches, fresh baked sweets...one stop shopping. Sandwiches are meaty and offer a variety of breads and croissants. Loaded potatoe soup was homemade and tasted like I was back home. Coffee varieties are simple but tasty. Mario berry scone, yumm. I don't even care for scones because they tend to be dry but not at Jenni's. Customer service was excellent and welcoming.

Jennifer is super warm and friendly. The coffee and food is delicious and clearly made with love. Jenni is a local gal who cares about and for her community. She shares a great many of her resources to support those in her community experiencing homelessness. So, by supporting Jenni's Sacred Grounds you are supporting Jenni, Jenni's family, and your neighbors who may be struggling. AND, you will enjoy an amazing coffee and meal! Win-win! Thanks for sharing your talents, Jenni.

Such a wonderful, welcoming spot! Delicious, homestyle food and great service. Small business bits & bobs to purchase, freshly homemade pastries, and open early! Will definitely be back!

Always a pleasure to come in here. It's like a visit at your favorite aunt's house. Everything is wonderful & delicious. Made to order, with fresh local ingredients. Above all... Rarely will you find someone that feeds you with more love in their heart. Good bless you Jenni & my stomach can never thank you enough.

Jenni's is so great for many reasons! One, the breakfast we enjoyed included waffles, French toast; and sausage which were all Delicious. Second, the owner is an absolute sweet heart - she definitely went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and features one of our favorite coffee blends too. Next time we're over here, we'll be sure to visit Jenni's!

We're not sure what it was, it could have been the morning bun so I asked a barista. The pastries have some allergen information in the placards but when I get an allergic reaction, I want to make sure and ask. They looked through the ingredients list/binder and they couldn't find the ingredients for the morning bun. Luckily, my husband and my allergies are pretty mild, but this seems pretty dangerous. If you have any kind of allergy, I don't think this is the place for you.

Everything started great as the shop was easy to find, parking was easy even though we arrived around noon on a Saturday. It wasn't overly busy and we were able to place an order and find seating right away. We ordered two meal and coffee combos: the banana coffee and pork shop rice, and the coconut whip cream coffee with the Legend pho. We also shared a beignette donut, which had a milky custard filling inside of the pillowy breading. The coffee came first and we loved our drinks. The banana coffee has a rich yummy banana cream, and the coffee underneath wasn't sweet, so there was a good contrast. The banana coffee came with extra bit of black coffee so you can adjust it to your liking. I also liked my coconut whipped cream coffee. The whipped cream has a stuble coconut favor with toasty coconut flakes on top, the Vietnamese style milk coffee was a bit sweet but that's expected. Then the food came, and they looked GOOD. The pork chop rice was presented beaufifully and tasted great. I liked my pho and I loved that it arrived sizzling hot. The broth was deep in color and neutral in taste, again, very nice to eat. The dining area was comfortable, spacious and relaxing and the staff were friendly and attentive. So why did I deduct a star from my review? Well... do you know they have a loyality program? The person behind the counter did not mention it so I only found out about it from a pamphlet on our table after we ordered all of our food and drinks. In the loyality program, you get 1 free drink after you purchase 9, and you get $5 off when you spend $50 or more. Sadly, I wasn't aware of its existence when I paid and the staff member running the register told me that they could not enroll me in the program after I paid, or provide me with any credits for the drinks that I purchased on their digital punch card. I think they should have told me about the loyalty program before I paid at the register, or should have allowed me to at least collect the points afterwards even if I could not get a discount on the total that I spent. Because of this issue, I left Legend feeling annoyed that I missed out on getting a discount that I would have been entitled to if they told me about their loyalty program, but also missed out on collecting two digital "stamps," or "stars," towards getting a free coffee through no fault of my own. Overall, it was a great experience until it wasn't so great. I probably won't be returning to this locaton and hopfully I will have a better experience at the Beaverton location when they open. This time at least I will know about the loyalty program ahead of time if nobody mentions it.

Decided to drive over anyway after reading their business profile on Yelp. It's about 15 minutes from my place. Add-ons: 70¢ each for cinnamon and oat milk, bringing the total to $6.35, relatively cheaper than most shops. It tasted fine: not too sweet, which I appreciated. I'd just go for extra shots next time, since I prefer a bolder coffee flavor. Also got a Marionberry Cream Cheese Danish ($3.75) from a local bakery: flaky, light, not overly sweet, and reasonably priced.
