This is for the Barnet branch.... THE MOOD A great location and although there is only a limited internal seating area of around two settings there is also some external seating as well. It maybe small but really nicely done with blankets provided and good place settings. This is like an upmarket fish and chips shop making this a really comfortable and nice place to be. But still has a local feel. Friendly staff and the food is well presented when it arrives. THE FOOD A good selection on the menu and some different items making this a great place to eat in or take away. As it was our first visit we stuck to standard items to really test this: Battered Cod and Chips - A classic item and well presented with salad and a nice dressing with chips and sides all served separate which is a nice touch so easy to share. Cod Bites and Chips - Great idea and filling, good if you like good mix of fish and better also chips and sides served separate but with salad on main dish served with a nice dressing. Well cooked with a crispy but not oily batter. All cooked fresh and you can tell. Mushy peas - This was a little disappointing and fresh garden peas just don't work it was too bitter and texture also little rough and a little crunchy. I think you just can't go wrong with tradition here so this item needs some tweaking. Curry Sauce - A nice flavour and not too strong to over power fish so worked really well and you can tell this is home made. Gherkin - We never did get this so cant comment what happened so hopefully will be able to comment on our next visit. Oh we were supposed to have the fried mars bar and we forgot....!!! THE VERDICT A great little friendly place and good for a family visit with good selection of food with great taste and helpful and friendly staff. I will be adding this to one of my favourite fish and chips places. I would say the price is reasonable and the best option to be would be to get the 4 cod bites with chips as very reasonable as it comes with the chips and i would say 4 bites equals a small cod with 7 being a large cod. Plenty of kids options available as well.

Popped into Oliver's for a quick dinner after an exhausting 10 hour flight from California. I wanted something quick, cheap-ish, and tasty. Oliver's delivered on all fronts! I ordered a cod filet with chips. It was delicious. Everything was fried on the spot and the fish tasted super fresh and was moist without making the batter soggy. The chips could have been a tad warmer, but they were nice and thick. I got takeaway and they really piled in the chips. The cod filet was a good hearty portion. It was definitely enough to fill me up. If prices had been a bit cheaper and my chips were warmer, I would've given Oliver's a solid five stars. I will say that it was probably the best fish & chips I had while in London.

I saw a recommendation for Golden Union, and so we made our way over there for lunch towards the latter half of our trip. The place itself is unsuspecting but ended up being actually very cute when we went inside. The neon signs and vintage furniture make it feel cozy. The staff themselves were also very welcoming. We sat down and were handed menus and waters. I decided to split the haddock and chips with my friend while my other friends got their own portion of cod and chips. Everything was pricey, but it is London. The waitress was also very engaging and friendly since she noticed we were tourists and also helped one of my friends with his journey to try British tea for the first time. Overall, she was so sweet. Despite not having crazy high expectations, the haddock and chips was incredible. The fish was soft, and the chips were fresh and not oily at all. It felt very fresh, and I finished my portion feeling very satisfied. My friends let me try their cod, and the cod was also fantastic--very buttery. The haddock is definitely my favorite though. Would come back on my next trip!

I was fortunate to come here just before it was peak dinner time and I did see a lot of people waiting. If you look to come here at usually meal times, be ready for a wait! What Is great about this establishment is that they have many options for your fish in case you are craving something in particular. With it being my first time here, I was looking to try either the Haddock or Cod, and decided on the Haddock. Once I received my fish and chips, I was ready to eat and wow the fish was so good and well fried. I tasted how good the fried batter was while all the flavor of the fish was still inside! I could eat this fried fish all day! The batter had the flakiness to it which added a nice texture. As for the chips (fries), I will say that they were average and nothing too special. However, keep that appetite for the fish! Make sure you finish that! Service itself was pretty fast and prompt. They definitely look to get your food quickly so you can enjoy your meal so they can accommodate as many people as possible.

It is a farmer's type market with some prepared foods, which were top notch. We walked the entire thing and grabbed as much as we could to eat. There are plenty of food places just outside the space that are open later as well. I got some meat sticks from a vendor, sort of farmers market style. There was also another stand that had fruit in a cup with chocolate. Our best deal were some arepas that were half off because it was closing time and they wanted to get rid of them. Yelp is not as popular in England, so I took to the internet to find a place which led us to The Windmill. We came to the pub on a weekday evening. When we arrived there were a ton of young adults on the streets drinking and hanging out. Initially, I thought there was a long wait, but I learned it's part of the culture. When we walked inside, we were seated immediately. The restaurant is quaint, cozy, and a fun pub with a rooftop bar as well (reservations recommended for the rooftop). It gets quite loud and lively inside but that's part of the culture. The service by all was greatly appreciated. I have dietary restrictions and they went the extra mile to check in with me. All of the staff who helped us were kind and courteous. She had the Dorset Lamb Shepherd's Pie which she quite enjoyed. I had the Smoked Salmon, King Prawn & Atlantic Haddock Fisherman's Pie. My pie came piping hot. There was a lot of seafood inside--it was rich, creamy, and hearty. I was only able to eat half. He got the Pork and Sage Sausage Roll which was savory and reminded me of an elevated pigs blanket. For dessert, we shared the Sticky Toffee Pudding which was so good! So moist, sweet, warm and delicious. We were all pleasantly surprised with our meals as everything was delicious. I recommend The Windmill for a classic and fun pub meal in SoHo.
