The staff, from the host to the waitress to the bus staff, were wonderful, welcoming, friendly, and informative. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays and made for a very festive atmosphere. We went there early on Sunday the day before the eclipse as it was the only reservation they had. The view was fantastic, lots of windows and everyone has a great view there. Service was friendly and attentive! Drinks were colorful and delicious. Although my filet was overcooked in spots it was fantastic, especially with the blue cheese topping! Stopped in for lunch yesterday. The staff were inviting without being intrusive. The scenery was fantastic!! There are big glass windows which were open to enjoy the wonderful summer weather . I think the brow would be amazing in the frozen winter as well. We ordered one lunch special, a shrimp po boy on a baguette with sweet potato fries and a walleye sandwich with broccoli. Both were delicious, I did have to ask for a salt shaker though for my broccoli. A little sesame oil would have been nice. We ordered specialty drinks, I had a flirtini, loved it. After we had left the restaurant, I just happened to be balancing my checking account, and noticed that they had charged me the tip amount not only on the bill, but also charged it separately!! When I called the restaurant when they opened the following day I was told "Oh don't worry about that, it's not a real charge, it will be gone in a day or two, our system has some kind of glitch in it and does that..." I was in town for business with a couple of work friends, and we decided to come here for dinner. It was fantastic! We did not have a reservation but got lucky that the bar conveniently opened up at the right time for us. We ordered the sashimi tuna and shrimp appetizer, and each had the walleye entree. Everything was wonderful and fresh! The bartender Mike was great and made delicious drinks. The view was stunning, and we got to see the sunset on a gorgeous evening. They even have a Biergarten outside and downstairs if you want something more casual, and they have fire pits as well. Highly recommend-just make sure you make a reservation! read more

This restaurant is a joke. It only looks high end and service is super! If you think food is good here, then I have nothing to say. There are much better places out there. This restaurant is worst than your local chains like Texas roadhouse and Cheesecake Factory. Drinks are good though. Don't waste your money on lobster and shrimp bisque. It's made with tomato broth which is a lazy version of the traditional Lobster Bisque. Do not get the lobster pasta, the flavor is bland, messy, and doesn't compliment each other. I had no idea what I was eating. The chicken piccata was boring and whatever sauce they use didn't enhance the flavor with over used of capers. On top of it all, it had to pair with broccoli? Broccolini is a much better choice to be honest. A new menu is needed or just a better chef to be honest. My bf and I were having fun and laughing at how horrible it was. Over $100 meal, but we made sure to take care of our server because it's not their fault. read more

Our family drove 5 hours to see a WWE event and stayed at the Hampton . We we're new to the area and pleased to find that the hotel had a restaurant. The 3 of us went up to ask for a table at 4:30 pm to have a quick lite dinner before the Event. The hostess asked if we wanted a high top or table , we said no preference , she grabbed menus and was about to seat us when another young girl came up and said " oh wait we have no tables " you need a reservation and we have nothing until 8:30 . Dosnt give us any other option such as a apot at the bar , take out or other places to go . The place was almost empty . Was extremely disappointed in the customer service . We attend many events including for work and will remember this one and the restaurant in a very negative way . I truly hope the Managment addresses the young staff and restrains on how to better handle a situation such as this . read more

Is it fine dining or an upscale bar? It was rather confusing, being that the predominate view was of the bar and not of the lake. From our window table, we could see a little of the lake, but it was like sitting in the back seat of a car without being able to look out the front window. Patrons were wearing everything from suits and dresses to jean shorts and t-shirts. The service was outstanding. The food was good/above average. My salmon was overcooked and did not look the picture posted on the web page. No slaw, it was served with a tiny cup of microgreens with "wasabi." I wasn't sure what I was to do with it- so I added it to my rice. Our server said that most people don't know what to do with it and don't use it. My husband had the filet. It was perfectly cooked and served with a huge pile of mashed potatoes and a tiny portion of asparagus. It's one of the few places in Erie for a special meal. Hopefully if we go back, we will be able to experience the open air dining and stunning views as described by Oliver's web page. read more

This is the second time my boyfriend and I ate here. We arrived at around 8:30 on a Friday and were seated at a table in the corner of the bar area right beside the glass. It was perfect. Even though it was mostly dark you could still see some stuff outside that was lit up. We were greeted by our server, John, and ordered the Blue Oliver (drink did not come with blue cheese stuffed olives as per description) and a whiskey on the rocks. We both tried new menu items from the last time we were here. The stuffed pepper appetizer was the BEST we've ever had in our lives. It is a must-have. I ordered the walleye fish which was delicious but a bit heavy on the lemon cream sauce. The broccoli and rice are so-so, but they give you a lot of each. My boyfriend ordered the lobster pasta dish and it was also so-so (the pasta was overdone in my opinion, but they give you a really nice portion of meat). The dessert was AMAZING. It was a sweet potato cheesecake served with salted caramel ice cream. Another must have! Truly our server John was fantastic. He gave us great recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the area. You can tell he is someone that loves his job and interacting with people. read more

Had the Winter Sun cocktail-- nicely balanced, well prepared. Overall I enjoyed the bar. The wedge salad would have been 10/10 had it not been for the sweet red sauce and balsamic glaze drizzled overtop. Not to be a jerk, but don't mess with a good thing. The customer is expecting a classic wedge salad, it doesn't make a lot of sense to stray from that in my opinion. The soup of the day was fine, but it had clearly been microwaved. The shallow (odd choice) bowl's rim was hotter than the soup itself. Would not recommend. I know this happens everywhere and there's not an easy fix, but I was also quite annoyed that I had to shoo off a couple of fruit flies from my meal. Newly opened Oliver's sits atop the Hampton Inn and had mixed reviews on this platform. We decided to see for ourselves. The restraint is modern decor with views of the lake. A moveable window wall was opened on one side offering a nice breeze. There are a number of beer offerings and a happy hour starts at 4pm. The bar was even able to make my favorite pre dinner drink, an Aperol Spritz. We chose to share the appetizer "Don't Give Up the Shrimp". Scored a perfect 10. Tempura shrimp with a mild heat sauce. The portion size was good to share. Our entree was the Parmesan crusted walleye dinner. Again scored a 10. The fish was large with a mild lemon sauce. Accompanied with rice and broccoli. The size of the meal could be shared giving you more opportunity for dessert. We didn't have dessert but saw three at another table, again the portions were large. Our server Katie was attentive and efficient. Oliver's scored high on our visit and reservations are a must. read more

We have had lobster pasta. (really really salty) The walleye dinner and the steak special. Best by far was the steak dinner but the accompanying sides were extremely mediocre. The mashed potatoes were not worthy of being on the same plate with the steak. Especially at nearly 60 dollars for the meal. The best value and taste is the chicken souvlaki salad. Pros: -The lobster bisque had a good amount of seafood in it. -My boyfriend loved the house salad that he ordered along with his entree. -I ordered the Commodore's Choice 22oz. bone-in ribeye and it was delicious and cooked perfectly mid-rare. -My boyfriend got the filet and asked for it butterflied as he likes his steak more well-done and he said it was the best steak he has ever had. -The asparagus served with both steaks was large, tender and flavorful. -The rosemary butter is a MUST! A perfect, flavorful addition to the delicious steaks and they vastly improved the potatoes. -The views are beautiful and perfectly showcase the glory of our Erie bayfront! Cons: -The restaurant seems to lack identity. It is as if they want to be fine dining but casual in some respects as well. A bit confusing. -Perhaps our server was just new but she was not as attentive as I would have liked for the prices at the restaurant. Also, she did not seem to know the menu well at all and did not know what I meant by the "Commodore's Choice" until I pointed it out to her. Also, although minor, each of the other servers delivered the guest check in a proper, check book as you would expect in "fine dining" restaurant, our server simply placed ours on the table. Again, perhaps she was new or not had proper training. -I had asked for a table with a good view when I made the reservation more than a week earlier and we were seated near the kitchen door in the middle of the restaurant. -The shrimp and lobster bisque, although meaty, was only luke-warm, and was served in a bowl with splatters of bisque on the edges and visible finger prints around the rim. There was a piece of shell in the bisque as well. Also, the piece of bread served with the bisque seemed to be house-made but a day or two old and was stale. After tasting the croutons served on my boyfriend's salad I would have rather had them served floating in the bisque because they were delicious. -The whipped potatoes were mediocre at best and I would prefer an option for perhaps a roasted red or fingerling potato seasoned with rosemary as it would pair perfectly with the rosemary-butter adorning the steaks. -Drinks are pricey and they only offer happy hour specials so there is not really an option for the cost-conscious diner during normal dinner hours. All in all, this is a nice restaurant with great views and a good and needed addition to the bayfront. I know that I was critical but that is because I want this restaurant to succeed and be it's best. I think some of my critiques may be due to being so new so hopefully they can "right the ship" in those areas and continue on to greatness. Went the second time on Valentine's Day. It was a disaster. We got dressed up for a nice dinner to be seated in a booth. Felt like we were at a diner. Ordered a sparkling wine and it came out flat. The waitress still charged us for it so we ended up drinking it at the end of dinner. Was told they don't carry it even though it was on the menu. A different waitress than our own recommended a different sparkling wine and brought it to our table. She brought in a bottle and set it down as if we were bothering her. We were given a desert before our meal that we didn't order and belonged to another table. Our waitress rushed us out and was impersonal. The decor in the daylight is not as classy as night. The food was mediocre (filet and lobster pasta). Thought this was my new place but definitely not. The only nice thing is the food. Not as classy as I originally thought. read more

Booked my stay at the Hampton months and also learned of this new rooftop restaurant attached to the hotel. Finally arrived thinking this would be a very convenient dining option only to learn they are closed all day for Private Functions. What's the point of having access to a restaurant attached to a hotel when guest cannot dine there? I suppose great for the restaurant for being to host private functions and a beware for guest thinking this is an option. I now have to get in my car and find another option. read more

I'm shocked this place doesn't have a better overall review, every time I've been here all the food has been outstanding without any issues! I will continue to feel this way about this place it's food is great with a great view and location they even validate parking. Not to forget the timely serving they did in order and in/on time. Scheduled an order for 9:05pm pickup steaks were fired too early and was notified the order was ready 35 minutes early. Concerned I called and alerted the desk of the error and was informed there was nothing he could do. Showed up exactly when I asked for the pickup and food was still sitting out cold as can be no effort to keep the $140 worth of food warm and when I asked the manager what happened I was informed they "must have missed that it was a scheduled order." That is why I called and told your staff who did nothing. I have been a customer coming here since Oliver's opened and usually Oliver's provides extraordinary food, fantastic service, and a great atmosphere. Too fancy. Food isn't that great. It's only exciting if you get a window seat but that is close to impossible to get.

Such a disappointment. We travel the country eating at "Fine Restaurants" I know it's Erie, but our party of 7 spent at least $500 easily. We literally boxed up all of our food and tossed it out. The only thing that was half decent were the appetizers. Everything else was so gross. Never going back.
