There wasn't a lot of chicken or anything else in it - it was mostly a semi-thick broth surrounded by lots of tortilla chips. My husband ordered the Reuben and was so so disappointed. The corned beef was tender, but he was appalled when he removed the bread to find a layer of corned beef folded in half to cover half of the sandwich. There wasn't much corned beef at all. I came here with a friend twice on the same day (crazy, right?) On the first occasion, the pizza was so good we had to return. The service was nothing out of the ordinary, we ordered the Margherita pizza, and we also wanted a sandwich. We asked our waitress "Ava" for her opinion on the sandwich. This time we had a racist waitress with puffy lips serving us. I say racist because she asked my friend for her ID when she asked for a beer. My friend is not from the US, so she showed her her national ID (which is the same ID she used earlier in the day, proving she was 21+), and the waitress said, "I can't serve you alcohol with that ID wait... let me ask my manager" after I watched her come and go to other tables for several minutes--that indicated the issue she raised wasn't her priority. We, as customers, were not of her interest since she had not returned to us. Then as she was going to other tables, and she wasn't returning with her manager or a solution to her issue, we decided to leave for the lack of service and bias discrimination. We headed to U Pick 6 Public House, and I cannot stress enough how different it is. The service, well, the staff at Public House is more mature and on point, and the menu is the same, except it includes a more extensive beer selection. We had a great time there, and we both agreed that the place was nicer. So I would suggest that if you are looking for a good pizza place and you are not from around here, choose U Pick 6 Public House over Tap House. It is the same restaurant menu, except that the beer list includes more beers, the staff is very attentive and welcoming, and there's no racist discrimination drama. read more

I came here after work with a few friends at the suggestion of a friend that went here earlier for a beer. It's definitely a nice, chill place to grab a beer and hang for a little bit. I ended up sitting at the bar with friends and we got some dip, pizzas, and beers! I'm not a huge beer drinker so I went with the cider they had available and it hit the spot. My friends got the pumpkin IPA and really enjoyed it as well. Pizza wise, I got the chicken cordon bleu pizza and shared that with a few others pizzas. I will say the chicken cordon bleu pizza was a winner and I'd order that again. Overall, I really like the place and it's not as loud as a typical bar which in the current pandemic makes complete sense. We chose this location for dinner one night, since they had an outdoor patio, and we were also permitted to bring our therapy dog in training. My wife and I both ordered flatbread pizzas which were really good. I also had a flight of beer, six different kinds that were numbered and coincided with the extensive beer menu. The servers this evening we're very friendly. They even have an outside bar window so you can sit at a bar stool and your right inside the bar. The only drawback of the patio area is that it is a little tight Because there are several tables and chairs, especially bringing our dog. Today I sat at the outdoor window bar, and ordered a steak and avocado salad. Got the blue cheese on the side. This is a very large salad and I left extremely full. What a great Irish pub. Hands down John (owner) perfected his tap for Guinness. It's a perfect pint every time. The menu has a wide variety to fit anyone's fancy. I had nachos (add steak - it's so good!) and the Italian'boli. Both were outstanding. We had a big party and everyone was so happy we closed it down over pints. I have been to their public house location but this was my first trip to the tap house. We came with a party of 7 on a Saturday around 5:30pm and we were seated immediately. Love the decor with all the beer taps. Would have loved to partake in a beer but I was there for an Athletic endeavor. I ordered the turkey avocado sandwich with a side salad. It was really tasty. Erie can be kind of dreary so it was refreshing for the weather to not be terrible for once. Our server gave us great beer and wine recommendations as we were able to take in the Christmas decorations hidden throughout. The appetizer list was about ten selections deep, with plenty of options to please any kind of eater. We settled on the Asiago Artichoke dip, which was perfect for a group of four and came with warm tortilla chips and thin bread. The food menu consisted of a variety of specialty flatbreads, pizzas, burgers, wings, house specials, Stromboli's, etc. The flatbreads seemed to be excellent portions, as two of the people in our party enjoyed them. I had the carbonara pizza and chicken tortilla soup which were perfect portions. Was here with a group from work just down the street. We had a reservation and were seated quickly and the drink orders were taken right away. 9 waters and 2 sodas which arrived quickly. The food arrived fairly quickly and looked good. I opted for the spicy burger and was very disappointed. It was dry and very over cooked. After reviewing the menu online it said that they are always cooked well done and juicy. I agree with the well done but there was no juice to be seen. The only heat was from raw jalapeños. The sriracha was not noticeable and there was a big hunk of the end of a red onion that wasn't even edible. The same group will be returning for another lunch in a couple of weeks and I will try something different after I ask my coworkers how their food was. read more

This was probably some of the worst service, or lack there of, that I've had in all of my yelp reviewing. You would think with a large group of people looking to spend quite a bit of $ and time in a restaurant would get treated with even a small level of hospitality and kindness. Instead, I was told by a server to use "logic" when I thought someone in our party had informed staff we were out on the patio and simply asked if we'd have a server outside (when he came to check on a table next to us). He pointed at sign saying we'd need to go inside, I thought we had, so I was just asking as to be sure. He then acted as if it was an inconvenience to take on another paying table. You'd think, that even with that miscommunication, a restaurant would train staff to be courteous and say "no problem, let me get your order." I don't always believe the customer is right, but in this case, the condescension and attitude was totally uncalled for and really left a sour taste. We gave our business to the bar across the street, and I think anyone else should too. They actually greeted us, welcomed us, and thankfully we enjoyed our night and dinner in the end. After reading the reviews I had high expectations for this local pub, however, there is more to the story. I was greeted by a friendly hostess, seated quickly, and my server was great. They have a nice selection of beers, but ask the price before you order. I tried their featured Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing. It was good and served quickly in an 12 oz. can size glass. So far so good, but the bill came and the glass was $5.25 before taxes and tip. I ordered the Reuben sandwich and thought I would splurge and try their featured baked pub fries. The food came quickly. The Reuben was tasty and typical Reuben. The fries came in a "cole slaw" size cup was at best half full. The manger was rounding and ask how everything was and I said good, except that I paid extra to get the pub fries and showed him this skimpy serving. He said "yeh, that is the way they are". He did offer to substitute something else and I said that is fine, I just won't order them again. So you be the judge..... 12 oz beer, standard Reuben sandwich and an order of fries about the size of a McDonald's kids order for $15.37. Came here for late lunch with a friend. We were informed by our server that it was happy hour (4-6pm) 50% on their flat breads and pizzas. I wasn't expecting much since i'm in Erie...but wow. The place were patronized by lots of locals. I also enjoyed the gastropub-ish feel. They have a wide selection if beers, but i don't drink so I don't really know what is good. We ordered a cheese pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, grape bacon balsamic flat bread and shrimp pear flat bread. I liked the grape bacon balsamic flat bread best because the salty bacon was paired well with the tart and a bit sweet grape and balsamic, followed by the buffalo chicken, which had good flavors like ranch, buffalo sauce, celery! I was a block away at a hospital and I just couldn't face the cafeteria one more time so I walked a block and that's how I ended up here in this marvelous eatery--- which also is an amazing brew pub. I'll let someone else rave about the beers, I'll be raving about the food. The smoked, baked wings are so amazing! The salads are big and tasty. I had a crab cake salad and crab cake appetizers. We ordered pear with smoked cheese and balsamic vinegar flatbread. Yum! We liked it so much we went back 2 more times in the next 24 hours. Chef came out and talked to everyone to get feedback. Unassuming and genuine interest in our opinions of his food. This has a youngish vibe at night when the beer is flowing. Noisy but manageable. I was there at one in the afternoon one day and there were kids outside in the garden area. At 4:30 it's pretty quiet. Actually it was a great place to get away from the pallor of the hospital. Only been here one time (tonight). Won't go back. They were slow and bartender (didn't get her name but glasses, brunette, long hair) was utterly bland and perfunctory. Least friendly, most boring service so far in Erie. Will not go back. HOWEVER: beer selection was decent, and place is kinda cute. Maybe other staff are better. UPDATE: well, guess I'll bump this review up a star or two as a result of super responsive message here on yelp from the establishment. I did not call a manager, but I typically do when service is outright bad. But when it's just bland, bored, not friendly and/or perfunctory, I just make a mental note that this is "one of those places" with a "not very friendly vibe". Not really the thing you call a manager over, actually. Some places are warm and welcoming - which I prefer - and some places are more cool and detached. I have to admit - the price is right! The food is not that great. Our group of four had: 3 burgers, and a ruben. The burgers were huge - at least a 1/2 pound after cooking. A burger that big needs to be offered the option of how you want it cooked. Mine was under seasoned & way over cooked - It came with onions, red & yellow peppers, and jalapeno ... all raw? It was weird - I can understand the onions and maybe the jalapeno but raw peppers ... Everyone else said - just passable. The fries are baked? ... stick to deep frying them - they put them in a small bowl and the bottom ones got moist - it was bad. Our appetizer was a big soft pretzel - which was under cooked [as in not brown enough] but the dipping sauces were outstanding. Inside, you will see a place with exposed brick, giving it an urban feel to it. The menu is limited to a selection of flatbreads, sandwiches and a few miscellaneous offerings. We started with the tortilla soup, which is very good. Next, I chose the crab cakes. Unfortunately, I did not like the texture at all. They were rather mashed up inside and did not have the structure of ones from the Baltimore area. We mentioned it to the manager to Gretchen, who was very kind and gracious. We were visiting Erie for a girls weekend and to be safe, made a reservation at you pick 6 tap house because it was supposed to be graduation weekend. Our reservation was for 7 but we were running 20 minutes late (called and gave them a heads up). It was Saturday night and the place was not crowded when we got there. The food was decent, not really any complaints from our group, however the service was awful and the reason for the 2 stars. Our waitress was clearly uninterested in serving our table- it took forever for her to come take our orders and heaven forbid she ask if we wanted another round of drinks. She actually sat at a table beside ours with a friend and had a drink of her own while we sat with empty plates and glasses in front of us. The manager came over to see how everything was and one of the girls I was with actually voiced our dissatisfaction and the manager laughed and walked away. I don't know about any of you guys, but that's not how you handle a business. I don't think any of us will darken that door step again. read more
