Great for Gluten Free and more As I'm enjoying my leftovers from last night's meal I want to review Olivias. My husband and I shared the trio of salads and the seafood Mac and cheese. The salads were creative and good but the Mac and cheese was outstanding. They prepared it with gluten free pasta and none in the cheese either. The portions were perfect for sharing. Several months ago, my wife and I were in the Gettysburg area and were looking for a good lunch spot. We decided on Olivia's after driving around the area and not finding too many other options that interested us. Very few cars were parked outside (uh oh). From the outside, the place is not very impressive. Inside it's somewhat dim and cozy (realtor speak for small). The server was friendly and fairly attentive. I ordered a gyro with fries ($13.99). My wife had the Greek Crab Melt ($16.99). Both were overpriced for what we received. Her sandwich was tasty and my gyro was okay, but did not taste as good as the gyro I usually get in Lancaster, which is several dollars cheaper for the same food and better tasting. We skipped the overpriced dessert and decided we felt no need to return. Bathrooms were nice and fairly clean. My advice: unless you like overpriced food, keep driving past Olivia's and go elsewhere. read more

This place features a variety of Mediterranean style entrees mixed in with some meat and seafood classics. They feature a Friday night prime rib special that is quite popular as it was sold out by 6:30 PM. The food tasted very good and we will go back again to try other dishes. We stopped at Olivia's on the way home from the outlets. We were hungry for some good burgers and we got just that! Maybe a bit smaller than the usual, but the beef was fresh and it tasted like one you'd find at a good steakhouse. The salad dressing was excellent/homemade. Our server, Tyara, was very friendly, enthusiastic and attentive. And the price was quite reasonable. We had stopped in a couple years ago and had one of their Greek dishes. They were also excellent. Coffee cold in to go cup bar tender gave us, waitress spilled hot on me so I know they have it.....THAT was after a very odd tasting food that is not as good as the worst Greek place in other cities. I have been here many times over the years. Was there again two times in the last month and the food was Amazing!!!! Love the steak and the alfredo. Portion sizes are large so you definitely get more than you pay for. Highly recommend!!! Love the outdoor seating area as well! read more

Wife and I like Greek food, real Greek food. Bases on the rating and reviews we chose Olivia's. We shared, Dolmades, stuffed grape leaves with beef and rice stuffing. Amazing! The lemon dill sauce that came with was top knot he. Followed by Greek sausage with a hint of orange and cinnamon, served with sautéed onions, peppers and feta. Yum! We also has Spanakopita. Flakey philo over stuffed with spinach, feta, and leeks. Wow. Didn't expect such outstanding quality out in the sticks. Was pleasantly surprised. Great service from our server. I live locally. Only my second visit. The other was approximately 15 years ago. This experience was way below par. We chose Olivia's because we were looking for a central location to meet with friends. We mentioned that we were only interested in light fare (wings) and drinks. The waitress proceeded to tell us that we could not be served beer unless we ordered from the menu. Interesting "policy." Long story...short: We paid nearly $74 for 5 beers, 2 (10oz) sodas, and 24 wings. (Only 9 were eaten). By imposing this "policy" we got the impression that they really didn't want us there. We even tipped our waitress 20%. Thinking that COVID has been rough on everyone and some people should be grateful to have a job (or a business like this should be thankful to be open). Seeing other reviews that portray "dive bar" status, we certainly found one. PS We met there to discuss baseball business amongst friends. It's fair to say that I now have "2 strikes" not sure if my third visit will be worth the trip. Disappointed. Ruined a simple night out. My daughter and I had a great experience at Olivia's last night. Friendly host greeted us at the door as soon as we arrived. Our server Lexi was nice and attentive, always checking on us and refilling our drinks. Peach cobbler martini is amazing. Hummas and fresh bread is excellent. Mousakka and kids penne mac & cheese are delicious. Quite a lot of food too.Lexi packed up all the extra and put it in a bag to go for us. On the way out the host told us to have a good night. Overall, atmosphere, staff and food were all great. We will definitely be back. read more

We love coming here and is one of the restaurants we miss most after moving away. The Greek dressing is amazing! I buy in bulk and take home with me! The Greek salad is enormous and delicious! My wife's food came out cold. We sent it back TWICE, and each time it came back just as cold as before. By this time, the meal was over and we asked for it to just be packed up. Dinner was ruined since my wife didn't even get to eat with us. When we got the check, I asked the waitress if the manager was really OK with charging full price for the entree. The manager/owner, Harry, thought we should pay full price for a meal that his staff couldn't even cook properly after three tries. He refused to even come to the table to talk to us. There are many other places who can actually serve hot food, and with better management. Skip this place. read more

I've been to Olivia's twice during business trips to the Gettysburg area. I really want to love this place. The service is delightful, and the menu looks amazing...the bread, hummus, and salad course are great. However, both of my entrees were mediocre, at best. The first time I had the grilled lamb skewers. The pita and tzatziki were good, but the lamb was lacking in flavor and barely warm when served. The second time I had the seafood linguini special. The sauce tasted fine...the pasta was swimming in it. But the worst and most unforgivable part? The seafood--lobster, crab, and shrimp--were all very much over cooked. For nearly $33, I was underwhelmed by the execution. All that said, I'll likely go again and try something else. Maybe the third time will be a charm? read more

I can't say enough great things about our dinner take out last night. From the initial friendly phone call while ordering to the pick up. Very organized and extremely safe. We ordered four gyros and Greek salads and WOW, absolutely incredible. The gyro wrap was so flavorful and they were huge; we loved it. Oh and the Greek salads were fantastic. I think the 2 star rating that this place currently has, is benig generous. The only good thing that they have going is the atmosphere. If you can sit outside on the back patio its good. Have eaten twice and will not go back. The "Greek" food is poorly executed and of marginal authenticity.....it left a great deal to be desired for those who have lived in the region. Moussaka was just sad and the gyro was worse. The Maryland Crab soup (had it twice) had an abundance of cabbage but on neither visit did I find ANY evidence of crab. It was in short spicy vegetable soup. Bathrooms were dirty, and the dining area felt more like a dive bar. The only redeeming quality was that the service staff was quite pleasant. The problem is clearly management and lack of standards. I love Mediterranean food and really want to like this place, but I cannot in clear conscience recommend it for anything other than a beer. read more

We went to another restaurant first that had lost their electricity that then we traveled to Olivia's and very happy we did because the service was great/ thanks Ariel!/ my sang-Rita was very good although overpriced I felt ($9), the calamari app was good and very big, and I got souvlaki and my husband got a gyro which was BOGO (however wish I had known because we would have just split that!) the gyro was excellent and so were the fries. The souvlaki was decent however the chicken on it seemed a little ... Fake? Like a frozen chicken breast. Next time I will get the beef or lamb because that was excellent. My husband and I were on a weekend trip to Gettysburg and this restaurant was rated pretty high on UrbanSpoon so we thought we'd give it a try. I should have checked Yelp. :( Food was just ok...the bread they brought out before the meal was a bit burned even though the hummus was good. The salad was...well I can't even describe it although the dressing was pretty good. I ordered a Blue Hawaiian and it tasted like pure vodka with some blue food coloring. I have gotten take out multiple times from here and the food is always great, but the services is very slow. On March 15th I got take out and it took 55 minutes from when I called to when I got my food. When I called they told me it would take 30 minutes (after being on hold for 8). When I arrived I figured it would be crowded... when I walked in there was 1 man at the bar and 2 tables worth of people. No reason the food should take that long... and all I ordered was a salad and a gyro! Gryos are great here! read more

We ate here Friday night, our waiter had no personality and poor service, took forever to get our food and when it came it was not very good. The tables were crammed together so if anyone left you had to squeeze yourself so close to the table it hurt. They had a piano player playing the entire time and it was so loud in that tiny place you couldn't hear any conversations. Then of course the magician bugged us with card tricks. I been here at least three times. I want to like this place, but my experiences have been hit or miss. That's why I've questioned whether I should bring a friend here or recommend it to others. During my most recent experience, I have to admit that their souvlaki was very good and I was impressed with the very nicely presented side salad. One weird thing is the way they serve their Greek pastries. If you like your Greek desserts traditional, ask them to hold the chocolate syrup and whip cream from the Baklava and Galaktoboureko. Maybe also ask them to warm it up and have some honey drizzled over instead. read more

First time here- the other guests that I was with had been here before and raved about the food. I thought that it was a Greek restaurant but was disappointed in the choices on the menu. I LOVE hummus and had been looking forward to ordering some. Instead they actually bring you a complementary (melon-baller-sized) scoop. The crab dip appetizer was tasty and the garlic bread that it was served with was excellent. Three out of four of us went with the special that night which was $9.99 for steak and a mini crab cake/shrimp/etc, potatoes and veggie. I ordered med.well and my steak was at least med.rare and not a great piece of meat. I did not eat the steak instead I took it home for my beagle (she loved it). The mini crab cake was good and if I go back I think that's what I'd order. Not much in the form of entertainment was going on the night we were there- several families and groups having a good time. I think this place probably has more appeal for me as a summer time restaurant- I can see myself sitting on the deck and enjoying a cocktail. read more

My husband and I tried this place for the first time today on our way to Gettysburg. Right off the bat, we both loved the atmosphere. It was very welcoming. The woman up front (possibly one of the owners) was very friendly and quickly brought us our drinks. We LOVED the hummus and bread at the beginning of the meal-you can definitely tell that it was fresh and homemade. We each got a lunch special-I had the french dip and my husband had the fried flounder sandwich. As far as lunch specials go, the portions were HUGE. Both dishes were super delicious and very fresh. Unfortunately, we didn't save room for the cheesecake specials, but those looked to die for! We were so impressed by our experience that we will be making this a regular spot to dine. read more

We went there since this restaurant was featured on FOX 43. So, on Valentines night we made a reservation for 6pm. They had a live 2 piece band which was nice but we were sat less than 10 feet from it at a 2 top table.. so we couldn't talk unless we leaned in and spoke loudly. I asked to be moved and we were told they couldn't move us since they were booked. The table next to us was also a two top and literally less than an arms length away! So not the Valentine evening we were looking forward too. I ordered a martini which was not delivered in a martini glassware since the waitress told us the bartender broke all their martini glasses (who does this) however, I did see two hanging in the glass rack but they were never used since they must only be used those cooking and drink demonstrations on TV. My husband ordered the beef and mussel special but at 6pm they were out of mussels??? REALLY???!!! Since I was upset that they would not even consider moving us I couldn't help but notice that two booths that were away from band were empty the entire time we were there... We will never go back. The cost is too high for mediocre food (diner food really) and no atmosphere. What a waste of money. I honestly don't know how this restaurant gets good reviews... read more

Been here 4 times. Was here Sunday Dec.9/18 for daughter's B'day. Olivia's never fails to disappoint. Ordered soup before meal, meal is served, no soup. Waitress suggest having it to go.Wife Doesn't like lamb so orders beef Souvlaki , waitress brings lamb gyro. Not a very good one, meat was ground like hamburger. When will I ever learn. If you appreciate good wine, Olivia's is especially proud of their wine list. Most of the wines they offer are special ordered from smaller, family-owned vineyards. We started with crab nachos for our table of four. Then, I ordered off the seafood menu and asked for Herb Encrusted Haddock which is served with garlicky smashed potatoes and fresh steamed vegetables. Yes, smashed is not a typo. I also ordered a house salad and a Blue Moon Winter Abbey Ale. Others at the table ordered Maryland Style Crab Cakes. Our appetizer was served right away. The light and crispy nachos were covered in imperial crab sauce, cheese, olives, and some other ingredients. Being a big nacho lover, I quickly realized I was going to have to fight for every morsel I got. The nachos didn't survive long and everyone at the table enjoyed them. After we were finished with the appetizer, our entrees arrived about ten minutes later. My Herb Encrusted Haddock was cooked just right, light and flaky without being over cooked. It was covered in imperial sauce, romano cheese and seasoned bread crumbs. After enjoying the nacho appetizer I could only finish about half of my entree. I wanted to have more, but ran out of room. My daughter and sister enjoyed their crab cakes. Our waitress stopped by throughout our stay to make sure drinks were filled and to check if we needed anything.
