First time dining here happened to be Christmas Day. Super disappointing. Spent a lot of time in Italy and there is no need to try and jazz up Italian food to try and impress. Good Italian is just well seasoned and well cooked food. Pasta very watery and lacked flavor. Prime Rib special way overcooked. Fish of the Day dry and overcooked. Rushed by the server. If you have eaten at north italia before, well the food is definitely not as good as north italia but you will be paying 2x-2.5x the price of north italia. Where the restaurant fails is the food. While the food is perfectly serviceable, it does not match the quality for the price point. We ordered several types of pastas and all were disappointing. While the presentation and quantity was good, the flavors were just not there. The only way I can describe the meal is that it tasted like generic Italian food you'd get at a mass catered event. This restaurant just opened, and it did not disappoint. From the table prepared macadamia nut pesto and fresh baked bread, to the crispy squash blossoms, we were hooked. Next up, cacio e pepe and linguini alla vongole. All fresh, all perfectly cooked, and served with love. Wine and cocktail list was extensive, and most ingredients were local. All this spectacular food while watching the gorgeous Maui sunset. We'll be back! read more

First time staying in this part of the island and we decided to venture out to some new restaurants. We noticed this place was new and thought we would give it a shot. It was a little weird from the start as our waitress did not introduce herself at any point and went immediately into explaining the menu. We started with ricotta which was good, bread wasn't the best but overall a decent dish. We tried the Cacio e pepe and wagyu bolognese. The Cacio e pepe was ok, it was topped with caviar which seemed gimmicky and just another reason to charge $56. The wagyu bolognese was very poor for $50. Just a pile of pasta and ground beef that lacked flavor and seasoning. Overall the service was just ok and the pasta was far below average and far below our expectations for the price and location. We will not be coming back and will be passing on that recommendation to our friends. read more

We absolutely love Grand Wailea and Humu Humu. We were very excited to try Olivine. It just wasn't good. The service was bland but not as bland as the food. I had the linguine vongole, and it just tasted like unsalted butter. My husband got the daily catch with puttanesca and couldn't finish it. They wouldn't make any modifications for the kids' items and basically only offered spaghetti or butter noodles that also tasted like tons of unsalted butter. We had a few apps, and it was all just... okay. My opinion is to save money and get an amazing view with the best Italian food and go to Ferraro at Four Seasons! The ambiance here was like a nice sports bar...also bland. We didn't stick around for dessert. read more

One of the best Italian dinners we have had!! The service was incredible - all knowledgeable about the menu, and able to provide the best recommendations. The ambiance was calm yet relaxed / true Maui fashion. And the food was SO GOOD. we got pizza, pasta, apps and wine and every person (15 of us) enjoyed every bite. Ate at Olivine tonight and had a great experience from the seating, to the service, and especially the food. Some recent reviews made me hesitant in coming here but am so glad that I did. The wagu meatballs added to the pomodoro was a perfect decision. Plus, the service was top notch, will definitely eat here next trip to Maui. read more

Recently visited this new restaurant at the Grand Wailea in late June 2023. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here during the visit. We were sat right away (1:00 pm) and the service staff was all really friendly. Drinks were delicious and the food was also GREAT. We had the margarita pizza and the red sauce pasta and enjoyed both thoroughly. It's not every day you have Italian in Hawaii, but if you do you must go here! read more

The restaurant is nice and the locale is five stars. The menu felt limited and was fairly pricey. You don't need to add caviar to cacao de Pepe and charge $25 more a plate. Our group liked the new renovation and ambiance, but unfortunately the food was very disappointing. My husband ordered the Wagu Bolognese which was flavorless. I had the Jidori Chicken Picatta which was sadly lacking the main flavor of lemon. Basically it was overpriced chicken in brown gravy. This was the worst version of this dish I've ever eaten. Our friends ordered the dry aged strip loin but were unhappy enough to not even request the leftovers to be boxed up for lunch the next day. Service was attentive but could not make up for the food. I hope this was an "off night" for this restaurant. We live here and are not tourists who will never be back. You can't charge these prices for mediocre food and expect return visits. We've been dining at Molikini, every day for lunch and at least twice or more for dinner during the Christmas holidays for over 10 years. Today was the first lunch at the newly fashioned Olivine. The new ceiling, orange theme, green tables are fine. Strange change to the bar area (why did the TVs need to move down from the ceiling alarm Sports Bar presentation? Are you a sports bar? Fine dining? Pool bar? So confused)The "alcohol presentation" area is so undersized and looks incredibly awkwardly tiny. The lunch menu not so fantastic.. Chopped salad was fine, fish of the day is always good but the Wagu Steak sandwich was a true miss, inedible as designed. Braised beef cheeks on pizza bread with vinegar based peppers, so terribly wrong! The beef cheeks were well cooked and should have been presented on pasta, at dinner. Way too rich for lunch and the vinegar pepper mixture (I assume to cut the richness from the cheeks) was too harsh and strong for the soft meat. Such a waste of ingredients , menu "upgraded" price points don't help. The lunch menu offerings were very heavy and not appropriate for a day at the pool. Who eats a heavy pasta dish at lunch, then tries to swim? The old lunch favorites are relegated to a pool bar with limited seating on a wet pool deck (or delivered to your pool deck seat). The menu team that created this new lunch menu, missed terribly, the offerings are geared towards heavy pizza and pasta. "The natural process of natural harmony and metamorphosis that creates this mineral guides the restaurant's ethos". What dues this mean? Not a thing to a diner...yadda yadda yadda.. The staff is always wonderful and excited they are still there. Sadly the food drives us away. Will either hit Aloha Pony or have to find a new lunch place, won't be going back for lunch this year. read more

I do like the location being that this is just one of the few restaurants with a decent decor that you can look out at the ocean from. That being said, I have been waiting a long time for this restaurant to finally open, and was disappointed in the quality of food. The appetizer of goat cheese with toasted pineapple sourdough was a disappointment, and I would not order again. There was not nearly enough of the sourdough bites to accompany the goat cheese spread, but they were also over toasted and very hard and dry. We could hardly bite through them. Even though they have a pizza oven, it was of poor quality and did not have a nice chewy blistered crust that it should have, but instead was too doughy and soft. There was not enough sauce to cheese ratio, and the cheese did not seem to be of good quality. My husband's cocktail was fine but the Aperol Spritz I ordered needed some improvement. Maybe not so much ice for one, it became much too watered down very quickly. And the short straw that was put in the glass instead of a tall one was impossible to reach properly in order to drink from. The bartender should be cognizant of using the correct size straw for the glass. Our server was lovely. And I felt bad even complaining about the two dishes we had. But I really would like them to take constructive criticism and improve on their dishes so we will enjoy dining there more often. We are locals. read more

When we arrive at at Wailea we always went to the Bistro for our first dinner . At first little disappointed it changed but who likes change. Olivine is a very nice dining experience with some great takes on a local farm to table menu. We ordered a round and shared appetizers which were well thought out and had hints of local ingredients. Main courses were also created with Maui in mind. We have eaten at the other walkable restaurants which are also superb. The thought behind the change was bold and did not disappoint. Happy to have Olivine at the Grand Wailea and it's worth the stroll from another property as well. It is a great way to jump into the Maui atmosphere with a local dining experience.
