Loulu Cafe is such a gem! Having a spot within walking distance of my room is amazing, but the staff makes it truly special. I came in after a long morning completely exhausted, overwhelmed, and unable to make up my mind. Miss Margaret behind the counter was an absolute savior! Despite there being a line, she took her time with me, stayed patient, and helped me figure out what I'd actually enjoy. She ended up picking an Affogato for me and made it herself--and it was hands down the best coffee! Her energy is incredible, she's so refreshingly honest, and we had a great laugh together. I actually really liked everything I got here. Its easily accessible on the Grand Wailea property. It seems steadily busy at all hours of the day, but the staff is hustling & getting the food out relatively quickly. When we went they were having a collab with Erewhon so it was kinda cool so see some of their items in store since we don't have it here in Hawaii. I gave it 4/5 stars more so for the price point- everything is resort prices but its hard because theres not many other places to go. They are open really early so it's a decent option to get a coffee but top tip.... if you plan to take a stroll a long the beach there is a coffee stand right on the pathway directly to the right of the Grand Wailea The food here is hit or miss... the sandwiches were actually pretty terrible and the smoked salmon flatbread was probably the best thing we tried. Do everything you can to stay away from this place when visiting the resort. Complete money trap because they have a captive audience as the only real quick bite option on the entire campus. Overpriced, not just a little, a lot. A can of coke costs 7 dollars and that's probably the cheapest item in the store. Fruit and yogurt bowl was 1 strawberry split 4 ways and a scoop of granola. The sandwich meat isn't made there, the pastrami is just standard Oscar Meyer tasting lunch meat pastrami, but that sandwich will cost you 21 dollars with no sides! And the selection is awful too. Their prepacked items are the same 4 lazily made sloppy sandwiches, the salads are 85 percent lettuce and over 20 dollars with no protein, even the selection of chocolate, it's ALL dark chocolate. So if you even want chocolate they have 5 different kinds of dark, zero milk or white or just other options. Super frustrating experience to find a snack here. Its a racket. And absolute racket. People who work there are cool tho. But this entire concept needs a complete overhaul. It's the most egregious example of "they're already here so charge whatever you want" in the United States. Worse than airports or stadiums. That's how tough this spot is. See my photo of the poke bowl. I could forgive the cost and selection if they actually made excellent food. This is the most I've ever spent on a poke bowl in my life and they couldn't be bothered to cut the raw tuna down to chewable bites. They open at 6am. Prepare to wait in line since it seems quite a few people are Up and At 'Em Early because of the time difference from where they are from. Folks from the East Coast are probably up at 3am since it's 9am on their side of the world. I'm from the West Coast so we were up at 5am easily every morning since it's 8am at home for us. There is nothing open at 5am by the way. Service is really good. Folks here are trying to help you as fast as they can. Loulu's has a bunch of options. They have a refrigerator case with grab and go items plus all kinds of cold drinks. They also have beer, wine and liquor options too. Loads of snack items like muffins, fruit, chips, cookies, crackers, etc... And they have Hot / Made to Order options too. Breakfast bowls, sandwiches, pizzas, etc... Their hot coffee... Honolulu Coffee... is HOT and good. It helped knock the jet lag off the fuzzy brain... that and walking all over. I liked the Farm Vegetable Panini so much I got it on 2 occasions! That carrot roll is amazing and the dish is loaded with lots of kale and mushrooms so I felt really good about filling up on breakfast. They also carry some local cookies... Maui Cookie Lady. I highly recommend this splurge. So Ono! Hold onto your hats folks... this place is not inexpensive. Like everything at the Grand Wailea... it's pricey. For 2 large coffees, 2 breakfast meals, a banana and a muffin... it was $64. If you are looking to save a few dollars, I'd suggest heading to the Island Market next door (off property) at The Shops at Wailea for less expensive options. There are lots of food options like pastries, sandwiches, breakfast bowls, etc. along with coffee and espresso. And they make it so easy for you to charge to your room. But for us three drinks, a pastry, and a breakfast bowl was close to $60. It was all good, just can't do that every morning. Stayed at hotel for 10 days w kids. Loulu was the go-to place for convenience. Food is not bad at all just very pricey! Some cashiers are nicer than others. I asked for light ice on my coffee and the lady actually didn't fill my coffee up to the top. Shiesty! For $9+tip per coffee, you should just fill the cup plus I spent at least $60-100 per visit. You want sprinkles on your gelato? That's an extra $3 for SPRINKLES. You want extra pizza toppings? Another $3 per topping pls! Skip the gelato. It was icy not gelatoey at all. Go to Lappert's instead. So for the positives- pizza is made to order and wood fired. The pizza sauce is tasty $22+. Loco Moco patty was tough and the gravy is salty $25. Fries are nice, crisp and good for sharing $12. The Salmon Poke Bowl is just ok. Needed some seaweed or leafy greens. The Buddha Bowl was my favorite bang for your buck. Loved feeling "healthy" after eating it. The one at the pool was better though. I added Mahi on top and that was an extra $9. Loulu is located in the Grand Wailea. Is it cheap? Hell no! Is it convenient? Yes. This was our go to when using our food & beverage credit as they are open later and have grab n go as well as poke, pizza, etc. A 12" pizza was $36. ($33 base, $3 topping). Ouch. It wasn't bad and easily fed 2 and was piping hot when ready. Beware they get very busy later in the night. The best deal was a scoop of ice cream. It was a generous portion for $6.50 and we got this daily! We tried the Erewon soft serve on the last night. $15 for a small cup and the flavor was pineapple & coconut that we had swirled and it was delicious just like a piña colada. Wish we would've tried it sooner. Also grabbed some Maui Candy Co gummies in Hawaiian Lava. Omg the best gummies ever, so soft and packed full of flavor $10. These were our best bets if you have a credit to use or just hungry and need a snack that won't break the bank too much. read more

This is more a commentary on the hotel's offerings of food/drinks/snacks. This is the one option to grab things on the go, and it shows. The prices are outrageous. Literally $9 for a water, $7 for a coke and $32 for a burger you can get at a high-end gas station. Meanwhile, at the Wailea Beach Resort (next door) they have a robust offering of items at "normal" prices. The Waldorf clearly had a "f these people" vibe once you're on the property, and they soak you for everything. With the kicker being that the quality is lower than most items at 1/3 the price. Honestly, if they can't fix this, they don't deserve your business. There are other hotels on this same beautiful strip that'll treat you like real people. read more

If you're staying at the Grand Wailea, and want a snack or a cup of coffee, this is your only option. Plan on spending at least 15-30 minutes waiting in line at this terribly inefficient and understaffed establishment. For a resort of this caliber (allegedly), this is a travesty. However the prices you charge for what you provide is really unacceptable. $16 for a croissant sandwich which was soggy when you pulled it immediately out of a warming drawer as soon as I ordered it (aka not fresh) and only had cheese ham and egg on it (no fancy aioli sauce or mayo or veggies or anything). Then $15 for an açaí bowl (we waited for, so we thought it would be more fresh) that was frozen ! What the heck! I understand choosing convenience over customers waiting but then lower your prices and our expectations... Or better yet, leave the prices but hire more staff to make your food fresh and delicious and coming out at a reasonable pace. Grand Wailea commentary: Group breakfast buffet was not much better, tasteless watery eggs, under cooked potatoes. Best part was cut fruit.
