The raw oysters from Olivine gave me horrible food poisoning which had me bedridden for 4 days at the Grand Wailea. $6k down the drain. Complained at the front desk and was told the property manager AND owner of Olivine would reach out for reimbursement compensation and never did. Do NOT under any circumstances visit Olivine. The first bite it was obvious the oysters were rancid but I trusted this establishment. Vacation ruined and my travel insurance did not cover this. The cacio e pepe with lobster was perfectly prepared, and the wagyu Bolognese was the most delicious Bolognese I believe I've ever had. Olivine is located at the grand Wailea so the views are all gorgeous! Our group got, lobster pizza which was loved. We got spaghetti pomodoro which was also yummy. Then we got waygu steak which was delicious and tender. The potatoes on side were dry and honestly underwhelming. The asparagus was also hard and lacked flavor. As good as the steak was the quality of rest of the meal did not add up to being worth the price. The waitress also forgot the side of broccolini which we ordered. There are meals I've paid that for and thought "worth every penny." Not here. This was some super forgettable food. I liked the meatballs (I'd give those 4 stars). The chicken piccata and the rigatoni, for what we paid, was about 2 stars or 1.5 stars. The salad with the chicken lacked depth. It desperately needed something to brighten it, so I asked for lemon wedges when I took it to go. Even some fresh fruit would have helped. Now the mushrooms were to DIE for. 5 star mushrooms. Unfortunately there were only two slices. I just wish they would have offered those mushrooms as a main or something. Ambiance was really lovely, and I cannot stress enough that Laurie was a phenomenal waitress. But we watched her go table to table to table to table. Restaurant needs to hire more staff or book fewer tables. Edited to add: the old fashioned was like straight bourbon--VERY strong. We live close by and love the new renovation. It's a beautiful view / ambiance but sadly, the food overall is disappointing. The olive oil martini is delicious. Crudo , prawns, Squash blossoms apps all great. I've tried all of the pastas, not impressed with any. The best one was cacio e pepe. Pizza is average wouldn't order again. My bf has had the wagu TOMAHAWK and said it was great. Chicken was average. Your best bet is going for drinks and apps at the bar at sunset. Food was pretty subpar. We ordered a marg. pizza and it was undercooked. The crust didn't hold and was very flimsy/no crunch whatsoever. Came here to celebrate our first born daughter's 3rd birthday! We stayed at the G. Waialea and it was fairly easy to get a reservation through concierge. The best thing was the lobster pizza. I live on Oahu and am tempted to fly over just for the pizza. There was just something about the uniqueness of it. One downside to the restaurant is that it can get hot. We were sweating through our meal. It's open air and if there's no breeze, it's really hot. The sommelier was also not every helpful or personable. (Hello, food trucks) Service was great, very friendly, but the chef wasn't willing to accommodate and changes to remove cheese or butter from pastas to offer vegan friendly option. All the food dishes (except for the charcoal activated pizza we got for the kiddo) were pretty lousy and considering how expensive it all is. Ordered a mushroom truffle dish that had no truffle taste, something called grilled italian salad that was just spring mix in Italian dressing (nothing grilled), focaccia that was just a loaf of Italian bread and the kicker was the only vegan option for our friend - a cauliflower steak that was $45! (the most expensive thing we ordered) It was half a small cauliflower, cut in half, no seasoning, no caramelization, served with some mixed greens on the side. Therefore, establishment put paying diner in the uncomfortable position of not paying a gratuity (20% or 22%) on top of a service charge - for a total of 38% or 40%, or $25 per diner. Service - excellent; food presentation - very good; food taste - very good. Value - poor. Foot note - I do not mind Service Charge of 18% for tables of six or more diners when shown on menu. No so much when it is not shown, and definitely not when a gratuity is expected (a tip on a tip!) Tip fatigue in spades. read more

Unfortunately, it's way overpriced for the quality of the food. We've tried Wagyu Bolognese and the fresh catch of the day. The bolognese lacked any taste... it was basically pasta with tasteless beef poured over it. Pretty bad for $50+ and something I may expect at a fast food joint. The fish of the day was ok, but unremarkable at the price point. The atmosphere is very casual with somewhat of a pool eatery/ sports bar vibe as the restaurant sits right above the pool. In my opinion, the management really needs to evaluate the menu and the quality of the chef / kitchen if they want to keep charging the fine dining prices as the food quality is not even on par with Olive Garden. read more

Update review. Just found out they charged me twice for this dinner! The first charge was the charge with the mushrooms that had veal sauce (who uses veal sauce for truffle mushrooms?!...vegetarians beware!) and now a pending charge for the one where they took off the mushrooms. I am trying to get this resolved but getting through by phone took my 30 minutes and now they are asking me to wait for their accountant to check into it! That is not acceptable as they made the error. My original review was "I wanted to love this place but it was not very good at all. The atmosphere was tons of kids screaming, and yet prices were as high as the best restaurants on Maui. The food was substandard, to say the least. Ingredients not fully disclosed caused issues as I would never eat veal ! They tricked me into this, and I feel so sick about it. The wines were limited by the glass and way overpriced. The only good one was $31 a glass with small poors. We won't t be going back ! It's sad, the location is great and they had so much potential but in the end they failed us miserably ." They responded with this and nothing else...very disappointed more now and won't rest until I get my double charge resolved. BTW, the mushrooms with truffle sauce has veal...no disclosure of that. We went twice during our stay. The first time we had Lori for our server and she was awesome and really knew the menu and timed everythng just right. We asked for a table on the edge for oceanview and we got a nice table but alas the sun moved over and right in my face and couldn't see anything, Lori graciously moved us to a more central table that still had a nice ocean view.I had the seafood fettucini and my husband had the Bolognese pasta dish. His dish was so good and full of delicious meat sauce. Mine was good too, the scallops were cooked perfectly. The bread we got was nothing special. I was thinking of really good Italian bread, but it was not. The dipping oil was tasty but needed a better bread. My hubbys dish was so good we went back another time and each ordered the Bolognese and what a disappointment! Barely had any meat sauce and looked watery. I don't know if it was different chef or what or they scraped the bottom of what was left in a pan and added water to stretch it. I'm not kidding.We also had a different server and I bet Lori wouldn't have served a dish looking like that. If you don't, avoid at all costs, and go somewhere else. My recommendation, Marlow is Pukalani is great. Great service, even better food, and impossible to get lost.
