    Sample menu for opening week
    Bret I.

If their first week open is any indication, Ology Northside will be a huge hit. And a much needed tenant for the mall on the corner of Kerry Forest Parkway and Thomasville Road. I went during their opening week and was blown away. First, the physical space is fantastic. Open, airy, gastropub-y. Long bar on the right as you walk in, lots of high top and table seating, big party room, second bar for special events, retail area with beer, booze and merchandise to go, food pickup window, outdoor patio. What's not to like? Their beer list is color coded to help you focus on what you are looking for. They don't do flights, but they do do small pours, and you can taste anything. I tasted a few and all were good, but the fruit sours were exceptional. They are also a distillery and, as a result, have a lot of cocktails. Colin is their cocktail master and he's got some great drinks. I tried the old fashioned and it was perfectly mixed (while they don't make their own bourbon yet, as it needs to distill for years, the bourbon they source is quite good). I also tried the Indigo Wings, with infused vodka, and it was fantastic and refreshing. I also had a taste of the mocktail version of the Sage Francis and it was outstanding. The food menu was limited to give the kitchen time to ramp up. They had a few choices and I went with the chicken sandwich served with a cup of tomato soup. The chicken sandwich was delicious, and the Gorgonzola slaw offered the perfect contrast to the Buffalo chicken. The soup was amazing, and let me wanting more. Lots more. The full menu was posted, and it looks to be delicious. Plus I love that they will be serving breakfast food! There is plenty of parking, and plenty of room inside so come give them a shot. You won't be disappointed.

I dropped in to fill a growler, but they don't fill growlers. Friendly folks, but it seems like a miss for a brewery.

If I get amazing service I find the on duty manager and tell them immediately so they can feel good about their team. I've spent over 40yrs in the hospitality industry along with wine, beer & spirits distribution. I've run restaurants and nightclubs as well as working for a national chain as a corporate front of the house trainer. I try to always eat local, drink local beer and independent coffee shops. With that being said, I feel I'm qualified to leave this review. I went in there on Father's Day with my family, all adults and one young child. We arrived just as one of the FIFA matches just started, so I know these time quotes are accurate. We watched multiple servers, managers (I'm guessing based on what they were doing) & server assistants. We sat for a good 15 minutes before we had to stop someone, because one of the people was getting hot, and needed some water. It wasn't until after that, we were given menu's and asked what we would like to drink. That took almost 15-18 minutes until those arrived. They were not complicated, Diet Coke a house special drink and their flagship beer. Once the other 3 people joined us, we ordered food and another round. Again, that took 15+ minutes to get that . Albeit they were busy, full house, but it appeared that they ample personal to accommodate the guests. We came specifically for the Chicago Hot Dogs, because they have all the proper ingredients. But, when we ordered... they were out. Then when another sandwich s was ordered, we were told they were out of fries. My pregnant daughter was craving one of their signature doughnuts... they were out. And when I mean out, all signature donuts were outThen there was another side dish that was out, but at this point we were glazing over the menu again. Once food came, it was delicious. The beer and drinks were 5 star, all the way. The last disappointment was when we were ready to check out, our server was nowhere to be found. We waited expecting her to check on us, considering I had ordered one last beer (another 15 minutes went by, and she had to come back to confirm my order). This is in no way a complaint but should be taken as a possible retraining opportunity, or at the absolute least, a good pre-shift discussion on service steps. I tipped well above the normal (30%), because I know how hard things can be. Any other person would have tipped 10% or less. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

I have tried Lake Tribe beers before at the Tally Beer Fest and enjoyed them, so I was excited to try a wider array of their selection. I truly enjoyed their gluten-free seltzer, pineapple brew, and a piña colada version as well. They do not have their own food on site, so make sure to check out which food truck will be there before arriving. Seating is limited, but you can bring your own foldoutout chair and there are picnic tables available outside with some high tops inside. I can see how this space would be refreshing during cooler months and will circle back in fall for sure. As the heat begins encroaching upon Tallahassee, make sure to dress appropriately and wear or bring bug spray, as the area is a bit woodsy near the back of the warehouse where the brewery is housed. The service there is polite and they do their best to make sure there isn't a ton of foam on each pour.

Mind you, we had a shaded table, but nevertheless, it's the principle of the matter that's important. They had a food truck by Pineappetit outside. We ordered their chicken dish and split it two ways because honestly their gimmicky pineapple with all of their rice, beans, and toppings was humongous. We just barely finished it. There was a musician playing covers of I don't know how many 80s and 90s songs. He was on tune and the entire experience was pleasant. I think the only gripe I have about this brewery is where it's located. It's kind of hidden and parking isn't per se clearly labeled.

They had 12 beers on tap the night I visited and I tried a flight of four. I really didn't care for their beer. The four in the flight that I tried: I thought that one was good, one was marginal, and two were just nasty (sorry, but I couldn't get past the first sip on those two). Overall, not a fan of the beers I tried (but I did try only four), didn't like the atmosphere, or the location. That said, perhaps it's a nice respite for those who live in that area or go to school there.
