Came for the bi-weekly trivia with friends. We've tried several places in the area, and this is by far our absolute favorite. Ology offers a wide variety of in-house made brew, and a full bar too! The Peach Ring Forest is an absolute steal, tried it for the first time and left with a 4-pack in my hand. Also tried the Rainbow Colored Glasses; this one cuts with a bit more tartness, but very refreshing. I didn't try the cocktails, but my friends did and both of them loved it. The staff are very friendly and helpful in recommending drinks to try. Parking could be a little difficult, the place itself does not have that many spots, but nearby stores are done for business after usual hours and sometimes we just find space where we can. Here's a polished version that keeps it casual and natural, like a genuine local review: Great local brewery and distillery with a laid-back, comfortable atmosphere. There's plenty of seating with tables and a bar, plus big-screen TVs, making it a fun spot to hang out. They also host trivia nights and sell their own merch. There's a great variety of beers brewed on-site, including sours, IPAs, stouts, lagers, seltzers, and more. They also distill their own liquor on-site and offer a variety of cocktails. My husband and I shared a couple of flights so we could sample a little bit of everything, and we really enjoyed the variety! Friendly bartender and a relaxed vibe. Yay! Awesome neighborhood spot who distills some great spirits as well as many beers! I'm a gin girl so was happy to find a good selection and it definitely packed a punch. One of the coolest things about this location is they do fundraiser events for local nonprofits as well as having really cool DJs, comedy shows, etc. All of the staff are very friendly and provided great service throughout the evening when I was there last. My week long work meetings are done and now it's time to chill as I have a free evening for some exploring Tampa. Ology showed up on my Yelp search and so I stopped here for a beer and some wifi to chill for a bit. It's definitely a chill vibe with a quiet bar area and a few tables. I was here for about 90 minutes with two of their fabulous beers ("Italian Pilz" and "Heights Lager") that were both very tasty. No food here which is fine. I'll get dinner later. Definitely be open to trying ones that you normally wouldn't, as they may surprise you . It is a brewery but they also have cocktails and food. Clean bathrooms. Slightly small parking lot. It's a craft microbrewery. Oh, wait, you want more details. Fine. Ology is a *good* craft microbrewery, with a bit of an experimental vibe to their brews while staying accessible. I've never had a bad beer from them; I think they're especially solid with hazy IPAs and fruit-forward Berliners. One note to be aware of: they seem to go for relatively high-ABV brews. Well, another note: they're not just a craft brewery, they're a craft distillery, with a wide variety of spirits: rum, bourbon, gin, vodka, liqueurs, even an absinthe. Their line's diverse enough that they can do a lot of cocktails that most distilleries can't do at their in-house bars. (Florida law requires bars at distilleries to only use spirits that they make.) The place is relatively small, and can get a little loud when it gets really crowded, but it's comfortable, great for both striking up conversations and writing on the laptop depending on how social you want to be. The bartenders have, in my experience, been knowledgeable and friendly. Ology has food trucks on weekends occasionally, but no food on site otherwise. They're in the middle of Seminole Heights, though, so there's a lot within short driving distance and even a decent amount within walking distance, although the neighborhood isn't particularly pedestrian-friendly. read more

Don't let the location fool you, they have it all for everyone! Cocktails so good you won't even realize you're drinking. I'm not always a big beer drinker, I feel like they're a bit heavy but I loved so many of their beers also. They also partner with Heights next door and you can get it delivered right to you at the bar and a discount?! Nothing better. Ryan was our bartender and he couldn't have been any better, so friendly and kind. He saw we pulled in a little earlier than the opening time and told us to just come on in! I liked this brewery, but I didn't love it. To me, they are trying to do to too many different things at once, and it ends up watering down everything. I thought the beers were very unfocused and a little sloppy. They had many hazy IPAs but they all tasted very samey and a little unfininshed. They weren't bad, per se, but there wasn't much variety. I don't know if it's because they are using the hazy IPA yeast for all ales but (I asked the server if this might be the case but he gave a shrug-y answer to me), all the ales have a chocky mouthfeel and residual sweetness that is just not my style. The lagers though, are fantastic! I just which they had more of them on tap! read more

Ology Brewing is where the old Angry Chair used to be. Unlike the old Angry Chair, the service is quite good. You enter through the back with some cool wallpaper going on. The beer was quite good on this visit. The BEER: Sting theory... hazy DIPA 8% ABV... more grapefruit forward, honey was not prevalent at all.  Still quite good. Sensory Overload... hazy IPA 6.5% ABV... so very juicy and super crushable.  This is an all day drink. Gravitational Lens... hazy IPA 7.25% ABV... also good, but the first three flavor profile kind of blends together for my pallet Quantum Accelerant... coffee stout 6% ABV... it's a coffee stout, not anything special Juice Lab... berleiner 8% ABV... totally delicious, PB&J, starts off grapefruit jelly with a nutty finish All in all, a great visit. The service was terrible and the space itself was just dark, cramped, and not very welcoming. There were multiple instances of just awful service throughout our 30 minute visit and we will never be back. I normally don't leave bad reviews or particularly wordy ones, but the service was so truly horrendous. 1. My mom loves the Tallahassee location and described a beer she had there and then asked the bartender if he knew what beer it might be. He just looked at her and said "this isn't the Tallahassee location, this is Tampa so I don't know what they have there." And then stared at her until she just chose something. 2. I do not drink alcohol and it has become more common for breweries to carry non alcoholic beers or have non alcoholic options, so I always ask when I go in with family or friends if they have any options. I don't expect it everywhere because I know it is a space meant for alcohol and especially local breweries don't have the capacity to carry those options sometimes - I never mind because I know it's not always possible! However, when I asked here the staff member said in the most patronizing tone possible, no but I can make you a Shirley temple and then laughed. Again, I understand that non alcoholic options are not always a priority and I'm never upset about it, it just was so unnecessarily patronizing. 3. We were using a pub pass which is something in the area where you buy the pass and get a drink at every location in the book. We have used the pass elsewhere and never had any issues, and always end up buying more drinks and going back again. When we presented the books to the bartender he stamped them and then still charged us. I asked why he was charging us since it was on the pub pass and he said that we could stamp it and come back on another visit for a drink and that it was stupid to expect a "free" drink. I didn't push it because at this point the experience had been so bad I wanted to pay and leave. read more

Love this brewery and the great beers that they produce. They now have a tasting room in stamps in a Seminole heights. The biggest problem with this location is related to parking, which was the same issue the previous brewery had with the location. I have had some great stouts and IPAs here. They really make great beer, true to the styles, especially IPA. Incidental Rewards and Common Vision were two of my favorites! I went to Ology with a few friends for a promotion event and had a fun time. It's a small space but a nice hangout spot and the bartenders were engaged. I'm more of a sweet cocktail fan so I wasn't overly thrilled with the variety of choices but I knew it was a majority beer establishment. For those who enjoy beer, it's a nice spot and apparently the empanadas sold in the back are delicious. I didn't buy any myself since I had eaten right before heading over. read more

We were across the bridge from St. Pete and figured we make a stop and are so glad we did! I had the juicelab/ lunchbox surprise PB&J sour and it was one of the best I've ever had. Not too sweet, the perfect mouth of sour and nutty on the back-end. The space was super quaint. I love their Branding a lot! Ology was awesome! I've admired them from afar so when I found out they were opening a location in Tampa I knew I had to eventually make it in. I've been in Tampa several times but Ologys hours during the week kept me from being able to visit sooner. This location is in the old Angry Chair spot and I think they did a great job of making it their own! I was already a fan of their beers but I love that they serve their spirits there as well since I've never been able to try their spirits/liqueurs. We shared a flight and got an old fashioned made with their orchard bourbon. I also HAD to try their birthday cake liqueur because I can't turn down anything birthday cake flavored. It tasted like melted cake/sprinkles/frosting and it made my soul rejoice! The bartender was super friendly and made conversation with us while we hung out. This is a nice little brewery located in the old Angry Chair building. Most of their beers are IPAs and sours with a few other options. The benefit of this brewery is you can also get a cocktail made with their own hand crafted spirits. This is a small bar but every time I have come here it wasn't that crowded. They normally have a game on one of the TVs and the music is not too load. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and will help you pick out the right drink with quick service. They are located in Seminole Heights so get ready for an awful parking situation with limited space. read more

Great new addition to Seminole Heights! Ology recently took over the old Angry chair space and offers both craft beer and their own brand of distilled cocktails so you can bring your friends who don't like beer. The seating setup is similar to Angry Chair which includes bar seating and some group tables throughout. Still small so be prepared to stand at busy times. This place took over the old angry chair spot and I love the way they decorated it to make it their own. We have been here twice now and have enjoyed the drinks we have had, though have found the service to not be too interested in casual conversation when sitting at the bar. We do enjoy ology, it's always delicious and the service isn't rude by any means... they just keep to themselves which is totally okay! read more

Tested 5 of the sours ....they were all pretty yummy. Great to have a brewery in the neighborhood. What's nice about this place is that they also have mixed drinks...we tried the old fashioned. It was lovely; it had a slight cinnamon taste. They distill run, tequila and whiskey on site. What's not great is the parking situation so be prepared...they have like 5 spots in their tiny parking lot. If you live in Seminole Heights, this is the norm. I went to Ology for a drink with some friends and enjoyed it! This is a bar/brewery that does not serve food so it is dog friendly. The music and vibes were fun and the bartender was nice. I got the blueberry/raspberry lemonade and it was refreshing. They had some bottled/canned beverages to go so that was great! Small place, parking is awful and it doesn't look near as cool as the pictures they posted. Right before I walked in, I got beat by a bus full of people doing brewery tours. Bartender was so rude, such a turn off. Atmosphere was extremely quiet and I think that was probably due to bartenders attitude. You can't have fun in a space that is small and starts with a negative vibe from staff. read more

When it comes down to it, service can make or break a visit to a bar, restaurant etc. My recent visit to Ology Brewing was one of those break times. I enjoy this place and support as many local establishments that I can but the service specifically from one bartender was just an experience that had to be shared. I was there with son and his girlfriend, first time for them there. It started with an attitude when they asked to sample something which is the norm and generally recommended by most bartenders at the breweries. We made our selection then came back to the bar and were met with the same cant be bothered attitude. We were then advised that there would be no more samples because it's too busy. I looked around and saw empty tables and no clamoring by angry customers who were denied service because of the request for a sample or two. I also got major attitude when i ordered a beer, and when she returned with it from 3 feet away where the taps were i ordered another selection and got the "is there anything else" with a huff as if i inconvenienced her by not putting in everything at once. We packed up early, closed out the tab with another energetic and respectful bartender, tipped 20 percent as i was hoping it would be shared and we went on our way. Ology, I'm hoping it was just one person having a bad day but you are fairly new to the Tampa market and this was not a good representation of who you want to be. read more
