This new location was another former brewery (the name escaped me now), so I was excited to check out their new place which was somewhat closer to me in downtown Chinatown. I've enjoyed their beers over the years, so I hoped to introduce myself to their new home and try new beers since I last visited them. Was the ohana feel present at Kalihi Ber's new brewpub!? I purposely ordered beers I haven't had before along with a pizza to soak up the suds, and everything came out rather quickly. All was chill and relaxing - mahalo! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance) I was lucky enough to find a spot directly out front on the main drag of King St. after any imposed metered or timed restrictions (until 6pm). Everything I drank was easy, flavorful, light, and distinctive enough amongst themselves. I was a bit disappointed that they only had six of their own beers on tap while they offered several guest breweries in addition to a full bar with liquor, wine, and non-alcoholic options. The food menu was decent and varied enough but a bit on the pricey side. Lastly, the service was easy and straightforward. Unfortunately, I doubted this was a pet-friendly place. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $57.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). I checked out Olohana Brewpub and really liked the new space. It used to be Kalihi Beer, and the space in Chinatown has a comfortable and inviting feel. They have a ton of beer options to choose from, so it's a great spot if you like trying different brews. The food was pretty good too and pairs well with the drinks. I was in the area and stumbled upon Olohana Brewpub in passing. It is Taco Tuesday, so I came in to try out the Chicken Verde Tacos. 9/10: The onions and Jalapeños didn't have a lot of bite and detract from the Verde. The lime well accented each Taco. The taste was quite good and left me wanting to order another set. The service was quite good and the servers were quite attentive I would definitely recommend this brewpub in Downtown, but parking may be tricky since they are on S. King St. Even then, try and give them a chance. read more

We were walking around downtown on a Friday night when we stumbled upon Olohana Brewpub on King St. From the entrance, the bar is clean and inviting. We were greeted right away and got seated in the back. Our server, Jacey, recommended the pizza so we got the Miss Piggy's Revenge and a side of beer cheese nachos. The food took some time to prepare, but the beer came out right away. I tried the Chaser Hazy IPA and it was light and flavorful. When the pizza came out, it was piping hot. The pizza is thin and full of ingredients. The Kalua pork, caramelized onions and cilantro were a perfect medley. The pizza was a little spicy, but not overpowering. Next, came the beer cheese nachos. The chips were so crispy with a generous portion of pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole on top. Everything tasted so fresh. The brewery is nice and clean, well lit with basket wicker lamps and bamboo slat ceilings. Olohana Brewpub is a new concept bar & restaurant with working brewery in Chinatown. This started as the brewery attached to the homebrew store in its namesake neighborhood of Kalihi, hence Kalihi Beer. They lost their original location but thankfully for all, they took over the new facility that was a labor of love of a brewery of the past. Chinatown is a cool area of the city, and any business trying to revitalize it is worthy of support. Located on King Street, its east to get to by bus or ride share from Waikiki and Kaka'ako. Chinatown also has plentiful cheap parking garages, with a few nearby. Their on site brewery is producing their original recipes for draft only. They also have guest taps, a full bar of liquor, and canned selections. The food menu is plentiful and new, with many items being developed for a casual sports crowd, all the way to a fancy night out. Check their menus for updates. The staff here is fantastic, with many experienced bartenders and servers. Check their social media for event nights and live music. They also have lots of TVs for any games you may want to watch. Welcome to Chinatown Olohana / Kalihi beer. I was really disappointed when Darren and Stewbum & Stonewall closed and left Chinatown and I was hoping Darrem could pass the baton to new brewery and dreams do come true. Chris and Kalihi beer are not new to the Honolulu brewery scene but its great to have them on King Street in Chinatown. Darren put his heart and soul into building this brewery and it pained me to see it closed for so long but man its perfect for Chris to now have the reins and bring it back to life. Would love to see a Stewbum / Kalihi beer collaboration in the future. If you have not been here, you are missing out and need to check this place out. The brewery is beautiful, beer is really good and the service is outstanding. JC is positive soul and so helpful and motivated to provide the best service possible. Did I say the beer was good? They have more than just beer if you want mixed drinks they can make pretty much anything. They aim to please so check out Olohana and support this local business. Everybody's Devil (triple IPA 8.8% abv 12oz) will bring the devil out of you, but you will have a good time. Really tasty but after a couple you will be feeling pretty good. The Rappa Red is also pretty good (Red IPA 6.5% abv 16 oz). The also have beers from Howzit Brewing, Hana Koa Brewing, Big Island Brewhaus, Maui Brewing Co. They also have various snacks and pizza. We ordered the Pepperoni and it was pretty good quality pizza and it was perfect for two people. They have Charcuterie board, Hummus, Pretzels and all kinds of other stuff. The is the perfect place to come meet some other beer lovers and chill and watch the game. Lots of seating, plenty of TV's and just a chill place to come hang out and support a local establishment, just trying to make good beer and contribute to the community. It's been a while since Kalihi Brewery closed - I do not know the reason, but it has been reincarnated in downtown, at the edge of Chinatown. The equipment and brews from Kalihi Brewery was re-located and produces great beer in addition to serving other brews. In addition to the great brews, Oloha's kitchen serves great food. Awesome beer + food is an awesome combination. To further improve the combination, there are televisions showing sports - the best part? They are open when games are playing. Parking may be a bit challenging - there are street parking and lots around. I'll be back and commemorate my visit, I purchased an "old school" Kalihi Brewery t-shirt. read more

Frustrating to review and establishment that has no posted hours of operation. I live near by and walked the half mile to try this new place but at just after 6p on a Tuesday the doors were locked and the shades pulled down. I searched the exterior and Yelp but there are no posted hours of operation. Disappointing as I was looking forward to sampling their beer and pizza. Return next day just befor 5p. Ordered the house brew Everybody's Devil. A nice triple but a litle weak in flavor. Also got the Saucy Sausage pizza. Small 12" pizza at $27. Under cooked and limp crust, topped with a very sweet sauce. Tastey but heavy on the sweetness.one bothered to check on how my pizza was. I also got the Golden Sabbath beer. At $9 at nearly double the size of the house brews it is worth it. After I almost done with the pizza, the manger asked how the meal was. I explained that it was undercooked and sweet. He offered to comp the meal but seeing that I finished the pizza I couldn't accept. We settled on 50% off. I appreciate the offer and the acceptance of the feedback. read more

Great service, super welcoming and hospitable atmosphere. Also a nice change of pace in China town. Plenty of TVs to watch sports and the location is prime for people watching. Drink selection is good and not much of a food menu but has some snacks and pizzas if you get the munchies. If you can find a parking pay lot, it's right there, but sometimes it's a challenge finding parking during certain hours. So glad I got to finally come in! I've been a fan of Kalihi beer for a while and was stoked to see that they took over the old stewbum location in China town. They have fresh beer on tap that they brew on site. I had a pop top kolsch. It always hits the spot! The staff were very friendly and welcoming with prompt service. Love love love all their pizzas! Pizza and beer, the perfect combo. I attended a professional event after work and they had a variety of tasty pizzas to graze from. Beer-wise I tried one of the light beers and a hazy IPA, I don't remember what they were called but they were both very refreshing. The staff were all friendly and prompt, they walked around constantly checking on people for drink orders and restocking the pizza station. Great location for a Pau Hana! however the noise level did get really high once the place filled up. read more

My husband and I found this place on accident and it was the highlight of our island hop trip! We went in for lunch and sat and the bar and talked story with the owner Chris. He's super cool and very knowledgeable about his craft. Been here twice so far and liked everything I have tried. The pizzas are my favorite, the chef does something that makes the crust really good. The owner seems to put a lot of care into the craft of brewing beer and seemed very knowledgeable about beer. The service was also good. Yum, yum and also wow yum. After desperately wanting a beer and pretzel after a week on Kauai and Oahu, I was excited to find this menu. Bus ride here was easy peasy. Personally I like a darker beer, but selection of beers was good for the usual drinker. Favorite part was the food- left wanting to sample many more things. Pretzel was great, especially paired with the perfect texture and kick of mustard and delicious perfectly-smooth and ideal thickness (I am sick of dripping on my shirt!) cheese sauce. Did not regret ordering two pretzels (they're normal homemade size in width and thickness, not the dinner plate size you sometimes see elsewhere). Had the veggie pizza which had amazingly balanced flavor and perfectly cooked mushrooms. Crust was tasty. Wish we could've justified sampling their specials of the day (today was baked cheesy shells, tomato soup, pear pie) but it was 2pm and more eating is planned later. Pizza was freaking amazing! If you like mushrooms, the Fun-gi pizza is darn good! The stuffed mushrooms app is also really good and filled with artichoke dip, yummy! If you enjoy microbreweries don't miss this one. Located in Chinatown Honolulu. Easy to find but often overlooked when walking by. Amazing friendly service. We like the atmosphere, several tvs, bar seating and tables available. All in close proximity to the brewing kettles. beer choices includes their brews as well as other local microbrews. We had the stuffed mushrooms and enjoyed them very much. Also had a pizza that was delicious but could have used a couple more minutes in the oven to finish off the crust. Fabulous spot to get some brews and food. Came in with a group and were seated quickly, had a decent crowd for a Friday night. We tried various beers and shared pizzas (meat lovers and Chimichurri chicken). I also had to try the Italian sub with a side salad and mojo dressing. Everything was delicious. We happened upon this little brewpub while walking around Chinatown and what a little gem! Immediately, the staff were very welcoming. The restaurant has an austere, industrial but warm atmosphere with the brewing tanks behind the bar. Pablo was very friendly and conversational. I had an in-house made Kolsch beer (crisp, refreshing!) and the Italian meats sandwich which was hearty and delicious! The whole restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean. Wonderful experience!
