So, my Bichon used my screen door to do her stretching exercises and finally broke it. I toook it took to Ace Hardware in Park Ridge, IL. Both of us Lola, the Bichon and me, the old lady walked into the store with the giant screen door in tow. We were greeted by a what seemed to be a nice, knowledgeable young man. I told myself tale of woe, the kid listened, and got tangled up in Lola's lead and since she is a service dog I knew that if I let go of the lead she would immediately sit next to me. She did and poor Ted, the kid behind the counter knew nothing of Lola's extensive training got a wee bit concerned thinking she might take a freedom run. Nope, there she sat right next to me waiting for her next command. Ted then was able to asses the damage to my screen door and indeed said that he could FIX it and I need not buy a whole new screen which probably would have cost $. Ted fixed the he screen, hauled it over to me, that is after he found me wandering the aisles of the Hardware store. Yes, Ted is a helpful, conscientious, talented, young man. This location has the best service ever! I always find all the things I am looking and I need. Their items are so awesome and has a fair prices. Their staff are professional and knowledgeable regarding the items they are selling, you can frequently ask questions at their staff, they even assist and guide you while you are doing shopping at their store. I recently shop here because they never disappoint me to the point that they always have all the things I need whenever I visit there and looking for something. I always save a lot of money shopping at their store compared when I am buying at other stores around the City. I regularly go to Olson's Ace Hardware to get my home shopping needs for hardware items And birdseed. I prefer this store over the larger hardware stores because the customer service is much better and the items I'm looking for are much easier to find. I also find that the employees there are much nicer and don't try to avoid you when you have a question. My most recent visit I was purchasing a larger quantity of birdseed due to the great price And this is where I Met Evan. He is very nice and professional and was able to make my shopping experience a pleasurable one. He even offered me free delivery for future purchases on the many bags of birdseed I would be purchasing. I decided to take him up on his offer. The delivery was on time and I even got a call ahead which I really appreciated. Evan and another gentleman from Ace helped me carry a large order of birdseed to the designated area on my property, and they couldn't of been any nicer. I definitely recommend this store for your home needs due to its nice and professional employees who are always willing to answer any of my questions. But yeah, that place grabs for every penny of yours they can, and your experience with the manager rings perfectly true with my mine. Pros: Easy to get to--if you're in the neighborhood--so if you're desperate for one thing and it's not worth the effort to go somewhere farther, Ace may be a good choice. The help is easy to find. It's so small you never spend forever walking around. Items from their ads have good prices sometimes. And, since it's so small, the help knows exactly where everything is. Cons: Small selection. (So your chances of, say, doing a project with PVC pipe and finding all the fittings you need are virtually nil. And even if they do have a fitting you need, they're not likely to have many in stock.) Product tends to move slowly, so if you want something with an expiration date, I'd check that date carefully. With some exceptions, I've found that the help knows almost nothing aside from locations. Regular prices are through the roof: Think of doing your hardware shopping there as being like doing your grocery shopping at the 7-11. read more

I would like to say thank you to Luis, one of your employees, who did an outstanding job with a beautiful patience and a professionalism in helping program a key for my car. Luis stuck to the task of programing the car key and was so courteous in his approach to me as well as the contact he had to make in order to get technical assistance to program the difficulty with reprograming. I am so appreciative to this young man for waiting on me in a caring and patient way that says to you the owner that you have a person on your staff that knows how to deal with customers. I prefer to give my dollars to the local economy and smaller business when possible. I love Ace Hardware stores over Home Depot for most shopping needs. Stopped by Ace in Park Ridge yesterday to get Fall fertilizer and some mulch to protect the flower beds for this winter. Getting the lawn care stuff was fast but I couldn't resist browsing this very well supplied and staffed store. I found a new cork screw in the kitchen tools area and a couple other helpful kitchen tools that I've never seen and couldn't resist. I was also time to replace the coffee maker so a new Black and Decker found it's way into my cart. So, a few days after heading in for some sort of brackets to hold my new Hockey Hall of Fame banners - and getting the usual 1:1 service to solve it, I was smitten by the coolest cooler in the window: a read pickup truck made from old oil drums by an Australian artist. With inflatable tires to roll around the patio! But. But I was hopeful the price would drop after Christmas ... and no one else would get there before me. Then comes the best part: Evan goes to ask manager Brian if, you know being a day to the big sale, maybe Ace would give me that price early. And B-man says Yes! Happily, Evan helped me load my find into my matching red SUV and there it sits on the patio, awaiting summer. Ultimately it's about value and willingness and service smiles. I love this Ace. I find hardware stores to be fascinating. That anyone knows what to do all what this "stuff". Well, these people really do. I recently had a weird project of reinventing a cover for the lights in my bathroom. Replacing something that had been there for over 50 years. Luis was amazing in taking on this mission, We worked and reworked ideas that ended up creating a successful look. Jackie also helped in the project. I am in the process of remodeling our home decor. I came in here to get supplies for DIY inspired projects. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to get, but I was hoping by looking around, I would become inspired. A very friendly gentleman, Jose approached me and began assisting me throughout the store to find what I was looking for. Not only did he show me around, he gave me ideas of what to do to decorate. My wife and I recently purchased a home in Park Ridge. We wanted to do some painting and decorarting. Picking colors and fabrics is not our strong suit. I saw the signs at Olson's Ace Hardware for interior designer, Celeste Garvey and thought she might be able to help us. She helped us pick out colors for our bedrooms. We then went back to pick out window treatments for the living room and dining room. She helped us pick out the wall colors, fabric for curtains and blinds. We could not be happier with the results. Just found my newest favorite Ace Hardware Store. Park Ridge store is on the way to work so I decided to give it a try. This store is large and well stocked and easy to find your way around. We were looking for a particular type of small hinge for a special custom framing job. We needed six of the hinges and had stopped by Home Depot and Lowes and found nothing. Another hardware store only had on package of two hinges which disappointed us but we bought the two hinges and assumed that we would have to stop at several stores to find more. I had a last minute plumbing problem on a Friday night. I went to Olsons Ace at 7:45 PM, 20 minutes before closing. I met with Luis, the ass't manager and explained my issue. He directed me to the correct product and gave me some important suggestions for my issue. Even though he was closing in 10 minutes he did not rush me and was extremely helpful and professional. With Luis' help I was able to resolve my plumbing problem. This is not the first time I was assisted by Luis with a home related issue. He is a great asset to Olsons Ace! Was immediately sent to the correct department, and Lewis was very helpful in looking up the product and searching for availability. My specific grill was not available locally, and I was in need of assembly and delivery. I was told about current some in-store deals and headed in a couple hours later.
