I purchased a Maytag dishwasher in April 2023 and also purchased a 5-year protection plan. I recently experienced a problem with the dishwasher and contacted the Allstate Protection Plan. The lady I spoke with on the telephone did everything she could not to have a technician come out to check on what was going on with the dishwasher. I contacted Home Depot and spoke with an associate at the Oakbrook Terrace location and they called and spoke with someone with Allstate Protection Plan and made an appointment for a technician to come out June 02, 2026 between 1pm and 3pm. No one showed up or called. I will ask Home Depot to refund my money I paid for the protection plan because it is simply not worth the purchase if a consumer cannot get a technician to come out a look at the appliance. read more

I love the convenience of the lockers at Home Depot. I barely had to take two steps into the store -- the orange lockers are orange and hard-to-miss (I walked by them anyway --oops!). I ordered online and got an email when my order was ready and put in the locker. You just enter your code or scan the QR code and the door pops open. You don't even have to talk to anyone unless you want to. Bonus! read more

The plant section in this store is bomb. Like, I will drive the extra 20 minutes from the Evanston location to come here. The plant selection is so much better, and the plants seem so much healthier (and generally less pest-y). I came here this morning to get a whale fin after seeing them posted in a Facebook plant group, and they had many to choose from. Conversely, the Evanston location had zero. Keep it up, HD. I used to love shopping at this Home Depot location. However, in my last visit I was trying to return a few items. The clerk was extremely rude. He refused to accept my returns for items I bought a few months ago (typically, all other Home Depot clerks would give store credit). As I couldn't return several wood work items (some wood pieces were about 10 feet tall), I told him that I need to find my wife (she already went to the garden center when I was dealing with the return). So, I told the clerk that I'll be right back and don't want to walk around with the 10 feet tall wood pieces in the store. This clerk told me that I need to take this stuff right away and can't leave them on the side even for 1 minute. I asked for the manager at this point, who was equally rude. Long story short, I'm shopping at the Menards since this incident. I highly recommend avoiding this Home Depot store as their customer service went downhill. read more

Great store and excellent employees ! Yesterday I bought tomato plants and flowers at the outdoor garden center. The cashier was very nice and he was happy to be back at work after a trip to Spain. As I pulled my money clip from my pocket to get a credit card, the cash slipped out and I didn't realize it until I got home. I put my money clip on my table and see that there is no cash...I called the store and to my surprise and delight the cashier had found the loose cash on the ground and turned it in to the manager. I carry a deep-seated hatred for HD corporate but I would be remiss not to mention the good locations; including, but not limited to, this store. After a truly horrible visit to Walmart, I drove to the closest HD with a heavy, but hopeful, heart. To my relief, I immediately found what I was looking for. The plants were in a well organized area, in great shape, at a fair price. The young man in the garden center went out of his way to be kind to me. My experience at Walmart set the bar pretty low but I still believe the HD employee provided excellent customer service. I hope my review will encourage others to patronize this location. read more

I went to Home Depot w/a shopping list of items that I needed to do some miscellaneous maintenance and repairs in my house. Wandering throughout the store from department to department can be daunting. I needed the following items going in so I was going to be all over the store. * 6'-0" hose to drain the hot water tank (Garden Dept) * Male to Male connector to extend 2 hoses to floor drain. (Plumbing Dept) * Round Fluorescent light to replace the burned out fluorescent light (Electrical Dept) * 16" X 25" X 1" furnace filters (Mechanical) * Clear Sealant for bathtub faucet to close the gap to the wall (seepage in the basement from this) (Paint Dept) * Expansion anchors for wall bracket for stair handrail * Rubber Gloves & 409 Cleaner When I went to the plumbing Dept to inquire about the connector for the hoses so I can drain the hot water tank and clear out the sediment that gathers at the bottom of the tank. The guy working there said why don't I just put a cleaner inside the tank? I'm like are for real how does that happen on a sealed tank? I thought he was joking at first until I realized what a moron he was. Anyway I went to the electrical department to try and find the round fluorescent light that I needed to replace the burned out lamp. A women working in electrical & proceeded to take me from Department to department until I had al the items from my list that I needed. Her name is Samira. Went to my neighborhood home depot for a replacement electric stove. Salesperson was very nice but none were on the floor for me to look at so I bought it online, picked a delivery date, chose to pay for haulaway and an extra warranty. On delivery date, a truck pulled up, brought it in my house still in the packing from the warehouse, picked up the old one and were leaving. I said aren't you going to install it, they said no they don't do that. I called Home Depot and after going through the manager was told they don't do installations, the buyer can use the manual and do it. At no time when I bought it was I informed that it would be dropped off, still in the packing, and not be installed. The manager told me to call Electrolux and ask if they would send somebody. I should have gone to ABT and I will not make that mistake again. And the power cord they brought and left was the wrong one so we had to go back to the store anyway. It amazes me how I can have different experiences at 3 different locations in one day. This 5 star review is solely for the Niles location. I placed an order online from the Evanston location last night after making sure they have the item in stock and my order was canceled within the hour. Not satisfied, I went to the store this morning and was met by a staff member who could care less about their website showed the item was available. "Go to Devon and McCromick, they have it." I was told. Not able to locate the item at the Devon/McCormick location, I went to the customer service desk. The lady was annoyed with my inquiry. After punching a few keystrokes, she said, "we have negative 3". My puzzled look must gave way and the lady shrugged. I was very upset that I wasted my time dealing with a worker (again) who obviously didn't take pride at what they do. To be fair, when I looked for the item online last night, it did show the item was available at this location. During my lunch break, I decided to look for the item in the Niles location. I was able to placed an order and picked up my order from Val with 2 hours from their curbside pick up area. She was friendly, courteous and very professional. We ordered medicine cabinets from home depot. The first set we had delivered. The boxes were in such bad shape and both cabinets were broken. So the next set we ordered and had them delivered to home depot for us to pick up. Once again the boxes looked like they were in a kick-box contest and the cabinets were broken. So the third time one of the cabinets delivered was actually ok although the outer box was a mess, so I wanted to order just one but was afraid that they would never deliver a good one and then be stuck with only one cabinet. So I returned both and wanted to try one more time, but their database said there weren't anymore available. Went to Menards, ordered two cabinets, for $100 less than home depots. When they arrived they were buffered by styrofoam and the boxes were in great condition so therefore so were the two cabinets!! Lesson Learned-Go To Menards read more

Nice place to get everything that you need I one place. Super variety of goods and you can get to fix your house. The only issue is that we need to run around the entire place to get everything. If you want something quick, you may need to go to Ace Hardware or True Value. It sometimes waste your time to find a store like this and then dive around to find the exact item. Also, we are kinda of stuck to go to a super store like this since there is only a limit number of places to find lumber and outdoor gardening materials with a wide selection of items. I walked in to the store today and was greeted by many nice employees helping me out finding my milwaukee tool, I asked for a price match to the manager i believe his name was Rome. he said there's no way we can do a price match, which was fine but then he started saying to my son, translate to your dad as in he was assuming I don't understand, I understood well and I felt as I was being insulted. on top of this I've been a Home Depot customer for 25 years and this has never happened to me especially at this store said I was going to be kicked out and banned from the store after he insulted me the way I speak English. They helped me out so much. Big thanks. I went to the hot dog stand here as I wanted to try the waygu beef hotdog. The lady working there is so very kind. They make hot dogs Chicago style on a poppyseed bun. This was char grilled and one of the best I ever had. Came in to get 17 gallon storage totes. The ones on floor level were all done, more were available, but way up high on the shelves. Approached a worker for help. He couldn't care less, and sent me on my merry way to a desk staffed by those who could address any of my issues. Walked past Mike who immediately paused what he was doing when I explained what I needed help with. He quickly pulled up the stairs we needed and got the totes in a jiffy. Thank you Mike! *Perhaps a good idea for management to remind other floor staff that if you are approached by a customer, and you're not particularly in the mood to be helpful today to at least go beyond the merest of modicums to connect the customer with somebody who does want to be of help.* read more

This store is absolute garbage, for lack of a better term. I built a new house and placed countless orders, and spent thousands. They almost never get it right. Things are never on time. When the items do come to the store, nobody calls. The items then come incorrect damaged, if they ever come. Delivery guys regularly damage my material. The employees are not responsive. I am at the tail end of my build and I'm still waiting for items months later. I can't wait to wash my hands of this company. You need restructuring from the top down. Fire everyone and start over. Rehabbers and builders, stay very far away. You will be very disappointed. Nobody at this store cares or has any pride in what they do. So disgusted. read more

1 star is for the customer service that you get in the Kitchen/Bath Section. They are just terrible... first attempt I tried calling, was put on hold, you could tell they kept picking up and redirecting me to some sort of line waiting for them to pick up. After being on hold for an hour I actually was able to get there, after driving for an hour while being on hold, to find those in this section just hanging out talking amongst themselves. After walking in and going to this section someone asks if they can help me, I show him my phone, that I have been waiting for an hour for someone to answer and help me. He said oh sorry about that someone was suppose to pick up, I was on hold for an HOUR. I gave yo at the point was just a major turn off. Second time recently, went there to ask about a vanity and some bathroom appliances. Very disappointed in this location. I showed my MILITARY id and papers, which I have stored on my phone as I am no longer active duty and I was refused the military discount.
