Menards has such a wide selection of home and hardware items. I mainly went to look at the garden center to start some vegetables from seeds. They have a pretty impressive selection of soil, soil amendments, and fertilizers amongst garden decor and other sundries. If you're here for the first time as I was, it was honestly a little difficult to find the right entrance to get to the garden center/ outdoor entrance. When I had the items I needed, the outdoor registers were all closed at the time, so I had to wind my way back into the store. Not a huge deal, but just a head's up. They had some mini potted herb gardens for sale when I went, but all of the plants looked a little wilted or had seen better days. I can't speak too much on the other areas because I didn't need anything from hardware or cleaning supplies to name a few. However, I do know that they use a ton of mail-in rebates if that's of interest. Check-out was a little confusing: I remember that I had to maneuver a little differently with my cart since their process was different from most other stores. Not terribly difficult and the cashier was friendly about it. There was just no clear way to know how to navigate the register for the first time until you chat with the check-out clerk. On 02/07/2026, I purchased (2) light fixtures at Menards - Morton Grove that were not in stock and had to be ordered. The ordering process was outdated (print invoice bring to cashier transact), but I moved forward anyway. The issue: the order showed as delivered in two separate delivery updates, but I only received 1 of 2 fixtures. I checked with neighbors and waited through the end of the day in case the notification was premature--nothing. When I tried to resolve it, I was bounced around repeatedly: Clybourn told me I had to contact the Morton Grove store since that's where I purchased. Morton Grove told me they "couldn't handle it at the store level" and offered to email customer support for me. Customer support then told me the opposite--that they forwarded it back to the store and the store would contact me. I spoke with multiple managers. One told me there was "nothing they can do" because it showed delivered, despite no proof and one item missing. Another said they'd look into it, didn't follow through, and I had to keep calling back for updates. I later learned a third-party delivery partner (Spee-Dee) was involved and that I apparently paid extra for this, but it was never clearly communicated. As of 02/16/2026, I still have no resolution, no proof of delivery (photo/GPS/scan details), and no replacement/refund. This fixture was expensive and part of my new home renovation, and I've now wasted hours trying to get basic follow-up. If you order anything that needs to be shipped/delivered from this location, document everything and be prepared to advocate for yourself. Or better yet just shop at Home Depot. read more

Sometimes in the summer you will find unique antique ford cars driving around there. Coming here I can find almost everything and other stuff I thought I need but more. Traveled to this location for years for specific products that had the best prices and/or some not available elsewhere. Today was an eyeopener. Many products were no longer available and others the price was jacked making the trip unnecessary. I've always had good experiences shopping at this Menards. Staff and management have always been attentive, kind and patient. I liked going there. But during my most recent visit tonight was very far from that. I approached the check out lane with my purchase (a folding workbench) and a bottled soda. I reflexively reached my soda to the bar code scanner -- perhaps having been to too many places with self-check-outs. The attendant then batted my forearm away -- forcefully, with the handheld scanner and gruffly yelled "DON'T DO THAT!" Now, I'm not saying I was not at fault. But I don't believe I deserved forceful and unwelcome physical contact. Raising a hand and saying, "No, let me take care of that" would've been appropriate. But being a few days short of the TG Holiday, I decided to be patient. I politely apologized and assumed my position at the payment key pad. Once my payment was processed, I wished the attendant a Happy Thanksgiving. And she just told me to get my things and go. I thought about complaining to the manager. But such behavior from front line staff is always a reflection on leaderhip -- for all anyone knows, the bosses might be the bigger a-holes. I thought better of it and just quietly left with my purchase. So I'll just make my figurative counter-punch here on Yelp. This location in Morton Grove is MASSIVE - they have such a large selection of appliances, bath, building materials, doors/windows/millwork items, electrical tools, flooring and rug options, hardware, kitchen/outdoors sets, heating and cooling items, lighting and ceiling fans, paint, plumbing, storage and organizational tools, window treatments, and even necessities for pets/wildlife! Staff here are plentiful, and when we asked where some particular items were located, the employee insisted in taking us directly to the aisle - great service! Prices are comparable, if not competitive, and all the items were neatly organized and well-arranged. One of the cashiers noticed we were looking to check-out, and she speedily rung us up. I was at this location, 6301 Oakton St, Morton Grove, IL 60053, looking for a shower kit on Wednesday, 4/16 at around 3:00 PM. I kindly asked one of the staff members to bring it to the front cashier so I could pay and have it loaded into my truck. However, the box was open and in poor condition. I asked one of the managers for help, but he didn't even bother to speak with me. Instead, he sent another employee, who politely told me he wasn't from that department and asked me to take the large box back myself to talk to the plumbing staff. At that point, I decided to leave and try getting it from another place. But on my way out, I came across another manager. I asked him if he could get me a sealed shower kit box so I could purchase it. He made a few calls, then told me he couldn't help because he didn't have the item number. He asked me to go back to the plumbing department--again--to talk to "those guys." I explained that the damaged box was right there--literally ten feet away from him--and he could easily check the label to see if it was in stock and request a new one. I was honestly speechless at how unhelpful and careless the staff were. It's disappointing to see that kind of attitude, especially when it reflects so poorly on the company. This is my local Menards store and use to be the top dog in the Menards chains, but recently Menards has been opening these gigantic 2 story mega stores that provide far more selections like the stores in Melrose Park and now the one up in Vernon Hills. I have noticed that besides losing ground to the new mega stores there seems to be a change in the operation of this particular location (maybe a change in management?) You save big money. You save big money When you shop Menards. Ehhh it depends on what you buy. You gotta know your prices, but I bought my kitchen cabinets here when I remodeled my kitchen. I also got my flooring & accent tiles for a horizontal band for my bathroom at Menards. Like the others they have an assortment of home appliances like refrigerators, stoves, washers & dryers. Besides the usual things people buy at the big box home improvement stores Menards for has an assortment of items that appeal to a the whole family. If you happen to be asking for help in the cabinets section of the Menards at this location, I pray for you. I ordered a piece of customs made cabinet through Menards and it came with one plastic connector missing. So when I went there for help, the manager was all willing and politely suggested that I bring the paper work so that Menards can determine what piece was missing. Anyway, when I was able to locate the paperwork and went there on Monday evening, an elderly man in the Cabinets section told me rudely "you can call the Manufacturer yourself" and did even bother to take the order details. I told him, had it not been for the help offered by the Manager, I would not be at Menards in the first place for the second time. There was no phone number of the manufacturer on the paper work, but only Menards contact number. So if you order anything from the Cabinets section ( may be the whole work culture there is like it ), good luck and be prepared for impolite and ill- trained staff, more focused on avoiding you then helping you. read more

Having come in here on a weekly basis, this rating is being bumped up automatically to 5 stars!!! The folks here are friendly and helpful, they have everything that you may need for the house. Whatever the size of your project, they have your needs here. Their beef jerky selection is noteworthy, as well as their lighting fixtures and light bulbs. I also like the stuff here for my hobbies like flowers and vegetables for the garden and bird seed and bird houses. I guess my only recommendation at this time would be for them to enforce the limited number of items for the Express line. If you're allowing someone to check out 30 items, why have the Express line signage at all?!? Anyway, the store is a nice size and the parking lot is big but it can get busy after 10:30 am. The only reason to go here is the 11% discount, and only if you know exactly what you're trying to get. Anything that is on special or on sale is usually obscurely placed, and signage is not extremely accurate. I was in Dubai some 18 gallon bins that were on sale, I took the bins that were right in front of the signage saying these were the bins on sale, but when I took them to the checkout, they rang up for $10 more per bin than the sale price. The cashier did exactly what he was supposed to do, he, immediately paged for a manager, and the manager promptly came. The young lady, who may have been of legal age to buy an alcoholic beverage, but that is questionable, told me it was the wrong SKU number, and basically made me feel like an idiot as if it were my fault. I remarked that the sign right in front of the bins said that that was the correct item and she said well SKUs don't match up so it's not the right item . No, "I'm so sorry for the inconvenience". Just the sign was in the wrong place, you stupid old man, go figure it out, you idiot - that is the attitude projected by the inept manager. The correct response would've been to say "I'm so sorry. The sign was in a confusing place, let's go there together so we can get the correct item." I sarcastically walked away, saying "thank you for being so helpful." Mind you, Menards is not the place to go when you need any advice or knowledge regarding hardware. Lowe's is only slightly better, and Home Depot is probably the best, if still inadequate, resource, if you have questions. If you do have questions you need answered, you are much better going to store where the people know their craft and their job. That would be Ace Hardware, True Value, Bess Hardware or Crafty Beaver. I came here to pick up an undermounted sink and never tried their online ordering pickup service. You go through a specific gated area, where an attendant checks your receipt/email and lets you in. Our attendant was super friendly and explained where to go and what to do. Wait on the waiting area, and call the number. You'll see a guy inside pick up the phone, and in a matter of a few minutes, your order is carried out, loaded up, and off you go! Super easy, and highly recommended. I'm a bigger fan of Menards than Home Depot because the prices are cheaper. In terms of selection, I would say it is comparable, although you'll find certain brands in Home Depot, vs Menards, or vice versa. read more

I, on the other hand, is just eternally fascinated by the amount of different items and variety housed under one roof. Also, I LOVE the smell in here. It's part of a roster of scents I'm attracted to (like the interior of a new car, new paint, etc) It's especially fun to come here during the holidays, as they have tons of decorations that you can look at. A little out of the way but this Menards has a great selection and a more welcoming feel and staff than the one down on Clybourn in the city. The lines aren't usually too long and when you can find someone on staff to help they're usually good. One downside I've noticed - and it's a small one - is that some of the home decor we've seen is really just for display and they don't have the items in stock, like a cool multi shelved lamp we saw that had a price tag but wasn't available in stock and I think was there to highlight other smaller items on the shelves. The return policy there was pretty easy and the staff was helpful even though they were being harassed by some other unhappy customers. This will be my go to spot for Menards when I'm in the area, skipping over the city one. read more

I have to update my review. Their customer service is zero...I bought some items yesterday and paid $41.05 in exact cash. I told the cashier that I also needed to break a twenty dollar bill. She took my exact cash for the purchase and then closed the drawer without breaking the twenty dollar bill that I had requested. I reminded her that I needed to break the $20 bill but she refused stating that her drawer was closed. Absolutely terrible customer service. I don't usually complain because I don't want anyone to get into trouble. But this happened to me twice already so I can't let this pass anymore. The first time was in Three Rivers Michigan in 2020 . I approached an old guy, probably in his late 60s who is slim and about 5'9, to ask him where the restroom is. He told me in a very angry way to go straight and look for it. I didn't mind it at that moment because I really needed to go to the restroom and I was thinking he might be having a hard day. After getting some supplies, I was in the cleaning section when I happened to see him again and asked him about A certain disinfectant. He rudely told me he doesnt know and for me to look for it myself. I had to tell him off because he was so nasty, rude, no customer service skills. And that was the second horrendous encounter with him. He was so unprofessiona! My second negative experience was in Lake Cook branch in February 2021. I was placing my merchandise on the counter while I was paying when this old woman named Yolanda, who is probably in her 60s, started yelling at me not to touch my merchandise when it's a practice for the customer to take out the items from the cart. At that point I was getting a plastic bag when she yelled again not to touch the bags. I asked her what the problem was but she didn't respond. My husband who was with me told her, my wife is just trying to help. A supervisor approached us and told her to let it go several times but she continued her rough and unprofessional behavior. Each Menards is different!! The Morton Grove location has a much better selection of lighting fixtures than some if the other locations! Customer service excellent! Easy to find someone for assistance. I didn't have to run all over the store to get help. Everyone was pleasant and helpful one store had sold out of the item I was looking for,they looked it up found another store that had it. I went there they were pleasant helpful. I got my item got assistance with my item to the car and I was on my way. No complaints cashier also reminded me to get my rebate slip. Menards has e good selection for the handyman homeowners out there. With a friendly staff and fair prices it's my newer place to go I always find great & unique products at Menard's! They have VERY reasonable prices & are ALWAYS less expensive than their competitors. I love their order on-line & pick up option, it's quick & easy! I've always had excellent customer service! I recently purchased a "standard duty" tarp from Menards, a store I have always enjoyed shopping at. Unfortunately this particular tarp would end up being the cause of a good deal of misery. I took it into the wilderness where I believed it would provide a bare minimum of protection against the elements. It would fail miserably at this task leaving us exposed and soaking wet. Shortly after being tied to the trees the grommets were ripping through the tarp! Can you imagine? Now I would expect grommet failure from a light duty tarp but not a standard duty. I went in to find moving boxes, and they only had one size. Their rebate thing is weird. Their discounts are applied as rebates.
