I had a very easy experience getting an on-site quote. I received 3 quotes for this job. 2 quotes, including this one, came in around $7100. I went with a third one at around $6700 (which included an additional mixing valve) and am very happy with my decision. Overall price was not a big part of my decision, but brand of water heater was. After doing some research online, the most recommended brands are AO Smith and Rheem (GE). Both higher quotes were for Navien, which has only been making heat pump water heaters for 1 year, but I was told that it is the most reliable brand. I did not understand how this claim could be made, given how short the duration of evaluation for this product. Even the worst appliances usually work for at least a year. So I requested a quote for AO Smith or Rheem, which I did not get. I'm not sure why my brand request was not honored, but it made me question whether I should go with a company that either has communication issues or maybe some type of deal with Navien that I was not informed about. Many water heater installers are preferred installers of certain brands, which means they can get better pricing, etc. I did not want to be a guinea pig for Navien.

We considered replacing the water heater a couple years ago so were prepared. Alex explained the estimates (between standard water heater and tankless), cost, installation, and how long the job would take. They could install the next day (yeh hot water!) The estimate was less than another plumber gave us TWO YEARS ago! We happily went with the tankless water heater and Alex's communication was excellent. Always polite, friendly, and respectful. He was even careful to put on booties every time he was in the house. Alex also gave me the heads up when they were going to turn off the water and the gas to the house so we'd be prepared. Next, Alex decided to test the water pressure coming into the house. It was at 100psi. Standard is anywhere from 40-80 psi and higher pressure can break down your faucets and water heater faster. We would never have known, Alex just wanted to find out for the longevity of the new water heater he was putting in. There was a little shifting in the scheduling for the water pressure regulator, however I have a flexible schedule and work from home. Overall, delighted with not only this visit, but the other jobs Mr. Rooter has done for us in the past.

By your own documentation, the job was not completed at the time $300 was collected from my tenant in cash. No explanation was given to my tenant or to me at that time for why payment was being collected on unfinished work. On the invoice itself: it was not sent to me on 6/28 or the day after. It was only sent after roughly a week of follow-up calls from both my tenant and myself. To clarify the $5,000 figure: my review never attributed that estimate to Mr. Rooter. It was the quote given by the separate restoration company your team referred me to. On the return visit: this was the originally scheduled visit to provide the estimate promised on the 6/28 invoice, not an additional service performed as a courtesy. I appreciate the acknowledgment that the refund check took longer than it should have. My intent in leaving this review was to give an accurate account based on the documentation from this job, so your team can review the process and so future customers can make informed decisions.
