The cafe is located right the at corner of the street. Very easy to get to and plenty of street parking. Food is phenomenal and you can taste the quality, We were seated immediately upon entering. Menu is simple with plenty of variety to choose from. Specials are written on the wall. Ambiance is calm and there is no music playing but there is a big screen tv that was showing a NBA basketball game. Noise is not very loud at all and very pleasant. What a hidden gem! I can't believe it took me so long to try this place. It's kind of a hole in the wall vibe, but don't be fooled. This family run place stays pretty busy and has great food! They even serve breakfast all day. We started off with some beer. They offer a small selection, but it worked for us. I appreciated how it was served in a frozen glass. Wait - You are telling me they make a gyro that has jalapeños and something called "omega sauce"? Sign. Me. Up. It is known as the firecracker gyro - which is fitting. It has a little spice from the jalapeños, but it isn't overpowering. I really liked the omega sauce too! I wish they would've given me a cup of it to dip my fries in. The meat was super tender. Overall - a great sandwich! I think Olympia Cafe & Gyros can safely be added to my best greek spots in the Twin Cities. Worth the trip to the north side of the metro or a visit if you are in the Osseo/Maple Grove area! I know I'll be returning. Multiple times. And throwing down a few more firecracker gyros. Olympia is one of our favorites! This local spot does Greek food right. Whether you're dining in or grabbing to go, you can't go wrong with Olympia. The spot is located on main street osseo and there is always plenty of parking either out front or around the corner. You should never have to walk more than half a block. The space isn't particularly large but we've never had to wait more than 5-10 min, even with a group of 6. The menu offers a wide range of options of Greek food. They also have all day breakfast with staples like pancakes, eggs and a few Greek inspired omelettes. A few of our go to favorites include my big fat Greek omelette, gyros, Omega salad which has chicken and gyro meat, or choose two entree featuring moussaka and pastitsio. A few of our favorite appetizers options include delicious dolmadas, Gyro fries or hummus trios. The place is reasonably priced and portions are large. We usually end up with a good amount of leftovers to enjoy the next day. Service is very good and super friendly. When the place is near full they can get a little behind, just like any restaurant. Note that you do pay your bill at the register rather than with the waitress. I'm so glad we found Olympia and that it's so close! We recommend it to many and love taking visitors here for delicious Greek food! read more

I love this place! It's that rare cafe that serves breakfast all day, and it's not a franchise. It reminds me of Greek restaurant in Chicago near the University of Chicago and that's high praise. I was craving a chicken gyro and decided to stop by downtown Osseo. I've driven by so many times and never stopped. I dunno if they made an impression on me to come back in. I ordered food at the front counter to take home. I think they have online ordering? They do have a QR code menu. Food: I love chicken gyros and falafel, so that's what I ordered for us for lunch. The falafel in the falafel wrap had nice flavor but was cold when we got it. I would possibly get this again, but they didn't taste super fresh.... Chicken gyro: the chicken was coated in Greek spices. The flavors were there but it was overwhelming. I also don't love raw onion and there was what seemed like half an onion on them! It needed some feta and extra taziki sauce. Both meals came with a salad (Greek or Cesar) or you could upgrade for an additional cost for a bunch of other options. The pita was nice and fresh... yummy! (The pita and the Greek side salad are what saved this review and still made it a 3 star). I love lemon egg soup normally, but didn't love this one. The rice or orzo was over cooked and mushy. They also forgot to include it with my to go order so we had to make a special trip to get it. I should have left it. Typically if the restaurant messes up and forgets to put an item in your to go bag and you have to make a special trip back... they give something like a little treat or anything as an apology. Nothing! It doesn't happen often, because I normally check my bags. Overall, I more than likely will try the new Greek restaurant in Maple Grove vs coming back to this one. Sad to say, because I would rather drive to this one vs dealing with the hustle and bustle of Main St. Maybe I will give them another chance, but not anytime soon. read more

This place has some good Greek food, but if you want spanakopita, go somewhere else! I expected the normal golden brown, flaky phyllo crust, but what I got was a soggy phyllo mess with chunks of unmelted feta on top. I've never seen anything like this in a Greek restaurant. The photo on their own menu looks like normal spanakopita, not this! I expressed my disappointment, and our server, who was great, had another order made for me. It was the same! I asked if it was always like this, and she said yes. So if you're expecting spanakopita with a flaky phyllo crust, you WILL be disappointed. Skip it. read more

Disclaimer: this is a retroactive post, so be considerate of the unreliability of memory. Very cute local restaurant in the small downtown area of Osseo. It is located on the corner of the block and is one of the bigger restaurants in the area. It is a family run restaurant that serves authentic Greek foods with a modern twist. There are always rotating specials on the boards. The interior of the restaurant is due for an update though, as the tables and chairs are dated and worn down. There are a couple tables outside for patio dining and there is only street parking. COVID Precautions: Hand sanitizer was available and some servers wore masks. September 2020: The taste of the food is good, but the gyros had poor presentation and were very basic (to the point you can make it at home). Appetizer Sampler: We chose the falafels over the wontons and regular hummus to go with the pita. The falafels were good, but pretty dry. It was saved by the cilantro sauce dip. The dip is minty and savory and I wish they gave a larger portion of sauce. The sauce was runny so it helped with the dryness of the falafel. The pita and hummus were standard and not super memorable. Feta dip was good, but also not super memorable (although I preferred it over the hummus). The cheesy gyro fries were delicious! The sauce on top really elevated the fries and provided some sweetness to the flavor depth. The cheese and meat over the fries were also yummy. Gyro: My brother got this and said it tasted like a basic gyro (a little drier though). The meat was decent and they did not skimp on it. My brother also got a salad and it was good (yummy vinaigrette), but not memorable. Gyro Burrito: I was disappointed because it did not resemble a burrito at all. Tasted average and the salsa did not go well with the pita. Glad I still got tzatiki sauce with the dish. Lemon wild rice soup: This was their soup of the day. I liked how sour it was, but it got a little too sour towards the end because there was no other taste to off put the sourness. While it looked nice and creamy, it mostly tasted watery and sour. I liked the wild rice and carrots inside, but I would just get wild rice soup from somewhere else to satisfy my creamy soup cravings. I came back to eat again in the winter of 2020 (no pics). I got the same appetizer sampler as last time and another order of the cheesy gyro fries because they were so good last time. Omega Salad: Decent, but I wouldn't get it again. The salad was semi fresh (we went at the end of the day though) and the meat portion was small. The chicken and gyro meat were yummy, but just eating it with salad was not satisfying. The vinaigrette was decent but didn't go well with the meats. It just felt like I was eating a salad with meat, and downplayed the potential of the gyro meat taste. Gyro Burger: My brother ordered this and he really liked it. I tried a bite and also really enjoyed it. I would come back to get this dish! The burger did justice to the gyro meat taste. The beef patty was the right amount of salty and there was a taste difference between the patty and stack of gyro meat. This meaty flavor depth was also complimented by the small chunks of feta cheese and veggies. The tzatiki sauce was yummy and helped to accentuate/differentiate the gyro meats. Overall, I would recommend eating here and I would come back here to try more menu items. They are very creative with their dishes, but could improve on overall presentation of the food and the interior of the restaurant. The taste of the food is solid and the workers are nice! Some co workers convinced me there was an epic eatery in a small off shoot of Maple Grove and as a new resident I believed them. Osseo isn't going to qualify as one of the quaint gems of Minnesota but Main Street and some of the "cuter" parts as my wife would say have charm. In the heart of the city is a old fashioned diner serving large portions of Greek food in various shapes and sizes. Let's go report card style Food quality - A- had the gyro plate which was tasty and offers sides and many variations of flavored hummus Decor -B- Place is dated and has a cafeteria feel, some old world art and fraternity lettering to spice up the walls Staff - C +. It was slow, service was spotty I had to cut out after lunch and went to the counter before a follow up visit came from the server. Creativity - A. I find myself coming back to this place time and again because of the charm of the restaurant and the kindness of the servers, but the food is just okay. The Pita Pancakes, however, are a MUST!! Olympia is a family favorite. It's been a while since we've eaten in, so our recent experiences have all been take-out. That said, it's ALWAYS delicious and the dining room has a cute family-owned feeling. There's a great variety and there's even a lot for people who aren't into Mediterranean. But the point is Greek. The food is all very good, if a bit salty. I haven't found better Greek in the Cities anywhere, and especially not in the Northwest suburbs. We highly recommend the gyros, hummus, and the Taste of Greece platter. Would love to see some Greek wines added to the wine list, but you can usually find one or two if you eat in.
