Chicken salad was bland and watery, made bread soggy almost immediately and we ate it right away in the store. Lots of toppings you can add to personalize your sandwich. I was craving Potbelly's Italian sub while doing some after Christmas shopping so we stopped in for a quick lunch. There was a line of about 6 people, but it moved fast. The employees were very efficient. We upgraded to the meal deal with chips and a large soda. Unfortunately, the soda machine had no carbonation which we didn't realize until we had already paid. In a hope that they could fix it, I mentioned it to the manager. They were very much aware of the issue even prior to us paying for large drinks. They did let us grab a bottle of Diet Coke out of the cooler...but not as good as fountain pop. The sandwich was overall good and satisfied my craving for a while. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating and offers outdoor seating in the summer. My husband and I ate here yesterday and really liked it. Nice casual vibe and really good sandwiches. I ordered a skinny veggie melt on multi grain. It was warm and scrumptious with a perfect layer of fresh avocado and mushrooms. When I chose it I didn't realize that I would get the option to add a wide variety of cool toppings to the warm sandwich. I wish we had found this earlier. I was in the area and had a craving for a sandwich. I don't get potbelly very often but after coming to this location I don't think I will in a long time. I ordered ahead and walked over; I want to point out that this was early, before the lunch rush. I got to Potbelly when the app said my food would be ready and ended up waiting another 10-15 minutes even though it was not busy. Once I got the food I was very disappointed because my sandwich was burned; it left a bad taste in my mouth (literally and figuratively). Any place that has had a reviewer discuss the bathrooms not being in good order and then more recently, I noticed issues that said that the bathroom sink and toilet is not really being cleaned at all. I mean, there is markings that a toilet will have ONLY if it has not been cleaned in weeks! Yes, those markings were there. I decided to not even ask if they have a gluten free bun, as I didn't trust their kitchen to be clean at that point. The one long table for single diners was not clean. The dining room tables with the tiling should be replaced, as the grout is hard to keep sanitary anyway. I do not recommend the Maple Grove location. They need to get their place cleaned up and start working on sanitation. This doesn't mean I can eat there, as I still have to be gluten free. No, I will not contact corporation. I work just down the street from this Potbelly and I think in the last few months I've been there 20+ times. At this point, I feel qualified enough to break it down for you. Overall, Potbelly is consistent. Consistently GOOD: The food. I've never been disappointed with Potbelly's food. I almost always order a chicken club with baked potato soup. If I'm having a cheat day I might splurge on an oreo shake. You never know. No matter what I choose, I never question the quality. Consistently MEH: The service. Twice I had really upbeat checkout people who I still remember because of how awesome they were! Other than that, the employees usually look like something out of a Sara McLachlan commercial. We really want to give this place three stars due to the fact our B-L-T-A (comes with two small slices of avocado) we ordered didn't seem to have applewood smocked bacon but pepper coated bacon with carrots and jalapeños added to the sandwich. Maybe the sandwich had those ingredients advertised and I could be wrong but I'm mostly positive it didn't. The other reasoning is how little meat and filling comes on these. We did order extra bacon to one and the sandwich was thicker but we ended up not liking it due to the unexpected spice. So because of being unsure about the sandwich we won't give the three stars since it could be a mistake on our end. Unsure. The other sandwich we got was A Wreck and it was yum. I ordered a sandwich on the app 90 minutes in advance for a specific pickup time, I was there around 5 minutes after the scheduled time and they said not ready yet, I stood there for an additional 15 minutes with over 20 people walking in off the street, ordering and getting their food, I asked again if my sandwich was ready, the person at the counter said you were an idiot for ordering over the lunch break and expecting it even near the time, he actually called me an idiot, the other people waiting could not believe it either. Another 5 minutes went by and I asked again, he said one more word and I'm throwing it in the garbage, when it finally was ready, over 20 minutes late, he held it up in the air and then threw it in the garbage, since I bought it with perks, I can't even get a refund or my perks back. From the faux plaster walls, to the old-house windows, to the chic antique decor it all just screams fake. Now onto the food. The sandwich was very good. A step up from Subway. They offer a great toasted sub sandwich where you can choose your own toppings. I ordered A Wreck - turkey, ham, salami and roast beef and thoroughly enjoyed it. I only wish I had ordered the Big size. They offer them in original, thin, and big. The big is 30 percent larger, so I'd recommend getting that one if you're hungry. They had a live folk musician playing music while we were there. He wasn't very good at singing, but played a mean guitar. The place was very busy. So busy, in fact, that it was hard to find a place to sit. At about 6 p.m. on Dec 15th my wife and I entered the Potbelly Kitchen. We ordered 2 sandwiches, 1 cup of soup, a bag of chips and 2 shakes. Everything went fine with the sandwiches and we went to sit down and wait for the soup and shakes. 10 minutes later I went back up to check and was told not ready. did it again 10 minutes later and asked for the soup. Got the soup and our shakes were not ready. Finishing the soup and sandwiches I went up again - no shakes and they said they would do them now. I said, NO, get me the manager". He avoided me for 5 more minutes and then finally came up to the cash register. I said,"Skip the shakes - I'd like my money back." He started lipping off about me having a bad day and so on. I said no the worker didn't have the right tools for ice cream frozen that hard." The angered him even more and he was finally able in three tries to return my shake money." Continuing his snide comments he stormed away. Everybody has a bad day but obviously that manager is in the wrong position. Love potbelly's sandwiches, they're perfect for a cold day to warm up. But this specific location has always been very 50/50. Sometimes the service is very good and we have a great sandwich. Other times service is very slow, they won't honor potbelly's app deals, and the sandwiches are wrong. I've had multiple problems with online orders, and they seem to not understand how to make online orders work. I usually end up waiting 15-20 minutes after my wait time for them to make my sandwich. I've also had them call me and tell me they're closed but they'd give me a refund and I still haven't seen the refund come in. I think it would run a whole lot smoother without the online ordering or any app at all. read more

There has never been any complaints about the food for me, specially here. The location has plenty of parking, very huge seating area, and very close to my house. That's a huge plus, so when I work from home, most of my lunches are going to be here. Arbor lakes and Elm street blvd have so many restaurants that more often you are spoilt for choices, and this will make it difficult to keep my promise of coming here every now and then. read more

Sunday Noon. 10 people or so were in line when we arrived. 30 minutes to get our order, 6 corrections to the order needed during or after our order was filled. Terrible service. Cashier was incompetent - new, not trained, had to ask other team members for instructions on ringing-up order many times. Mens bathroom really bad - not clean, wallpaper tattered, urinal smelled. Pop machine broken as well. Have been here before but never again. Would recommend you eat at Jimmy John's, Panera, or the like. This experience not worth it at all. read more

If and when your wife drags you shopping in Maple Groove for a day of power shopping you are going to need a lot of patience and place to escape to recharge. Pot Belly's would be a good choice. Its like a subway but you don't have to just "think fresh" because they actually serve fresh quality ingredients on good bread. Yes that means you are not going find a foot long for 5 bucks, but pork over a few extra dollars because it is 100% worth it. I also always give extra props for having homemade soup, great malts, and classic glass bottled sodas. TIP: The hot peppers are amazing and they also sell them by the jar to spice up the brown bag sandwiches you make at home. read more

My one-star rating is based solely on the service I received at this institution a week ago. I ordered a T-K-Y Skinny with mayonnaise, onions, and lettuce. The girl adding condiments to my sandwich added tomatoes instead of onions and I have a tomato allergy. No big deal, but when I went back to politely ask for a new sandwich, the condiment girl just stared at me while I apologized and put she hot peppers in the middle of my sandwich. This was a bit of a comical experience. My bottomless-pit of a husband was starving after getting a massage at a place nearby and he made the call to try out Potbelly's as several friends gave him raving reviews. We walked in, grabbed a drink and got into a line. The first guy standing by the register asked us what we wanted and we told him...he motioned us on and started chit-chatting to a co-worker. This co-worker, also standing at a register, then asked us what we'd ordered and we told him. Then he motioned us to move down the line to a third guy...who ALSO asked us what we ordered... Somehow we eventually paid for and received our food but both of us couldn't quite stop snickering about it. Maybe they just have to work on their processes but it seems to me that if you ask someone what they want you are then expected to prepare something or punch something into your register....right??
