Buyer Beware! My experience with Olympia Multi-Specialty Clinic wasn't about the quality of the medical care--it was about the complete lack of billing transparency. Before scheduling my colonoscopy, I had multiple conversations with the clinic about insurance coverage. I also contacted my insurance company, which told me a preventive colonoscopy would be covered at 100% with no copay, deductible, or prior authorization. I relayed that information back to the clinic and completed all of the required pre-procedure appointments and paperwork. At no point did anyone explain that the findings from my previous colonoscopy could change how this procedure would be billed or that I could end up owing nearly $1,400. After I received the bill, I was told for the first time that because polyps had been removed during my colonoscopy nine years earlier, this procedure was billed differently. That information was apparently known before my procedure but was never shared with me, despite my repeated questions about insurance coverage. I wrote a letter to the billing manager, never received a response, and was later told there was nothing they could do and that my account could receive fines and be sent to collections if I didn't pay. My advice to anyone scheduling a procedure here: don't rely on being told it's "covered." Ask for the CPT and diagnosis codes, ask specifically whether your medical history could change how your procedure is billed, and verify every possible billing scenario with your insurance company. I wish someone had given me that advice before I received a surprise bill. read more

My doctor doesn't seem to have a lot of time to ask me questions about my health/symptoms, or much patience for my questions. Kind of just came in and told me what she decided we were going to try next. In and out within 10 minutes. Told me there's "nothing she can do about insurance" when I asked if there was anything we could do to make sure I wouldn't have a lapse in medication coverage. Oh, and while I was waiting, I could hear the nurse through the wall, complaining about patients. The place seems understaffed, and their services are definitely affected. read more

Customer service is non-existent. on hold more than 40 minutes just to make an appointment. That is totally unacceptable.

absolutely horrid experience. So poorly managed. Put a holter monitor on me and pushed me out the door with the monitor applied after 5 minutes, no details on problem shooting etc. Then charged me extra because I returned it late yet I was there the day it was due at 4:30 (they close at 5PM) and no one there to accept device. No accountability or responsibility whatsoever for their inept management. They have all the compassion and empathy of a rock. I feel sorry for anyone having a holter placed on them at this facility as you will get no guidance or support or any training on how to problem shoot the thing and the device does not work well. The front desk is fraught with disaster and they treat people like idiots. read more

Yesterday was my 3rd time there to see my cardiologist and every visit has been a pleasure. Yesterday was really exceptional though as I screwed up my appt time and got there 6-hrs early for an EKG and doctor's appt. They could have just told me to come back later and I would have understood completely, but they fit me in and everyone was really nice about it too. My doctor had not come in yet but even the time waiting for him was not overly long. I also recommend my Cardiologist, Dr Chan, if anyone is looking for one. read more

I only wish for the front desk staff here, if they ever need urgent imaging, if they are ever worried about their own health or for their loved ones because they are referred urgently after getting worrisome CT results, that they get better treatment than they gave me. I was referred here by my PCP, and this clinic received the approval referral before 9 a.m. Thursday morning 4/24. I called that day and was told it needed to be charted, and that I'd be called that day or the next. I called again Friday 4/25-I was told that my referral must not have been sent correctly, but when I asked if there was any more information or if I could speak to someone to see what was incorrect, they couldn't provide anything more. They just said to wait. I called them again Monday 4/28 after an anxious weekend, and then I was told my referral had never arrived! So I spoke with Kaiser, who said that it had indeed been sent, with a note that it was urgent, and the Kaiser representative called them. He was told that they were "still charting" and that I'd get a call that day or the next. At this point, I decided that the level of patient-centeredness I was being shown might be indicative of the patient care itself, so I asked my PCP for a referral to Gastro Health. (By the way, that experience was night and day. Gastro received my referral the morning of 4/29, charted it while I was on hold, and gave me an appointment for the next day--all in less than 15 minutes!) I have yet to hear from Multi Specialty Clinic. The lack of empathy and basic human kindness that I was shown by Multi Specialty Clinic is unacceptable in any situation, but especially when there is an urgent medical referral because of concerning imaging. There is no excuse for this behavior--especially when contrasted with the exceptional response time and care demonstrated by Gastro Health. read more

I don't know about all the Doctors in there I like Dr Thompson for myself but my problems are not nearly as severe as my mom's. (I tell her story in this review) But, I do not recommend Dr Marshall McCabe IV. He Washed His Hands of My Mother and She Died! My mother had emergency surgery for a hole in her intestines May 2023. Dr McCabe IV knew what caused it which was being extremely back up in the bowels from not being able to go to the bathroom. And when what he told her to do and what he prescribed didn't work he eventually, September, he did refer her to the UW. But without explaining the seriousness of her case or any details. The UW denied her and requested further information. Which he never did, even though she called his office multiple times, asking for follow up visit and explained what he needed to say in the referral as she talked to UW and they asked her to call. He never returned calls. And finally scheduled followup JUNE 2024 said they didn't need to talk until then. Family Nurse Pracititioner expressed his concerns which was ignored. Finally the Primary NP referred her in late Nov as he thought that Mccabe did it and said a GI Doc would hold more weight. Only two UW specialists could handle her case. But she died a week before her appointment in May of 2024. If not for McCabe she could have gotten in sooner. NP thought she was having appointments with McCabe. Best option in ER May 24 Comfort Care. She had a hole and other damage to the colon and was too week to survive surgery. If she had survived she would have died within weeks or months and would have been bed ridden in a nursing home in agony. When she was alive, McCabe's office was also unprofessional and rude to her. "Well, he has hundreds of patients! We hardly think that you are dying! when my mom who was extremely suffering including excruciating pain, expressed her concerns. She just kept deteriorating which she left messages for Mccabe. She should have been a priority for multiple reasons, including type one diabetes since childhood. They also refused to allow her to see someone else in the office. There are other things that can be done for backup in the bowels including washing it out and pulling it out in a vacuum. McCabe even mentioned this but said that he doesn't do it. read more

Terrible staff both at the front desk...(Patty) and nurses that escort you to the exam room. Doctor Thompson had nothing to offer. She was sharp tongued, hostile and condescending. She was passive aggressive with any question being asked and would fire back saying "what do you want me to do?" I told her she was the doctor, I was hoping she'd have the answer. That just made her flat out angry and the exam ended abruptly and she never even took our sons vitals. He's disabled and she totally ignored him. They dont have up to date communication protocols, no secure portal, they rely only on fax machines, they send the doctors notes to only one person via fax (pcp) and to any other people it has to be by snail mail. No phone calls or texts or emails to help remind you of an upcoming appointment or billing or front desk communication. This clinic is still in the dark ages. No one smiles, no happy hello's, no cheery faces from anyone. Maybe half (at least) the staff at OMC should either retire or get another job that doesn't involve dealing with the public. I just cant forget how mad Patty got at me when I asked for a copy of the doctors notes to be sent to me like I was asking her to swim the Atlantic. Incredibly rude. read more

This was my second trip to this place on the West Side and hopefully I'll never have to go back. The front desk staff is too busy talking to each other to be able to talk to the patients. Went to get an echocardiogram. Was 20 minutes early but had to wait 30 minutes after I got there simply to be called to the front desk and told to fill out the paperwork. The echocardiographer kept trying to rush me. She was abrupt and rather than answer my very few questions she would take or make a phone call. Once someone came and knocked on the door and she went out to talk to them as I lay there on the table in an uncomfortable position in the cold room. Because they were so late seeing me the clinic was closed when I left and she had to rush me out the door. I will work hard to find another place I can go to. Maybe the East Side is better? I'm a Kaiser patient so have to go where they refer me. Kaiser is SO much better than this place. They have friendly, helpful staff. Appointments are always on time and they have excellent doctors. Wish they could do their own echocardiograms. read more

I hit 50 and it was time for that dreaded colonoscopy. here's MY problem. the year known as Friday the 13th has left me with some serious anxiety and panic attack issues. getting in the front door required medications for the pre-appointment visit. during that visit I was presenting in some serious distress. NO ONE CARED. ESPECIALLY NOT THE DOCTOR. here are my words not his, "you're going to let us shove this Q-Tip in your broken nose or this whole train ride goes no further." the dreaded day itself had me on 2MG of Xanax and I was still melting down. here comes the bad part that's their fault. I let them know the first medication they'd use to "help me sleep" historically has done nothing for me. so I woke up on the table, lifted my head and asked if I was supposed to be awake. the next thing I remember I'm in my own car about 3 miles away. according to my wife, she dressed me (I couldn't do it myself), had to be loaded into our car with the staff's help and wasn't able to exit the car on my own when we arrived home. yeah. I was discharged far too soon just so they wouldn't have to deal with my issues. paperwork was given to my wife with little to no explanation. later that evening I was scared awake from my own bed by another incident. getting an answer from Oly M-SC took too long with too many hoops to jump through. the question should have been answered to begin with. There was only one caring staff member. my PCP needs to hire her away from this place. aside from that one person, THE ENTIRE STAFF needs to be trained how to deal with anxiety and panic problems. I was referred to this clinic and called to make an appointment. The staff person who answered the phone was rude and gave me an appointment that was months off. When I questioned whether I needed to be seen earlier due to a test that had given me an indication of cancer, the receptionist said that "it was not important". No patient should ever hear such words. They tell you all you need to know about this clinic. read more

Visited the cardiology dept in February '22, saw Dr. Harada, and was fitted with a heart monitor. (It was put on me incorrectly, but that's another story.) After the one-month period, I returned the monitor to the company, which sent the data to Dr. Harada the first week of March. In mid-JULY I still hadn't received the results. Every time I called Dr. Harada's office, a nurse tells me that he hasn't had time to "dictate the data" into a report. A nurse told me on May 13 that there was no report yet, so imagine my surprise when I got a bill for the monitor interpretation that was supposedly done on May 2nd. Apparently someone tried to call me with results, once, at the wrong phone number. Not impressed. read more

Every five years I get to to see the Dr. Heap twice. Once for my previsit and once for my procedure. I have always felt Dr. Heap has given me all the time I have needed/wanted for my visit. He asks several times if I have any questions and/or concerns. This time he asked if there was anything they could do to make the process better....and their actually wasn't. The key is, listen to the nurses and follow all the instructions they give you. I got a little tired of the phone calls, but I can imagine they have some clients who don't follow the instructions and make a mess during procedure time. I would have no qualms about getting here again in five years. read more

I was prescribed a medication from the sleep clinic that needed extra verification for the insurance. After some back and forth and waiting with the pharmacy, Michelle called me and said that she would work on the approval with the insurance. She called me back less than ten minutes later to tell me that it had been approved and would be ready at my pharmacy the next day. She was very pleasant and efficient and got the job done quickly. My pharmacy let me know a few hours later that it was ready for pickup. It was an awesome experience with Michelle. She is definitely an asset to her office! read more

I received a letter stating they have been trying to reach me by phone for a follow up appointment that is needed. I have no indication what so ever that anyone has tried to reach me. I have tried several times over several days to call them but instantly get a message that they are all busy and to call back. No option to leave a message. The letter sent to me gives one phone number as a contact point. I went on line to get a contact email or some other way to reach them sense the phone number is useless. That phone number is all they provide as a contact. Short of driving up their I have no way of contacting them and given how they have set this up I'd bet my trip would also be a waste. Health care in this country has failed. read more

Seeing as how this was my first appointment, Dr. Thompson and her staff were welcoming, insightful, and promising in terms of finding a diagnosis. HOWEVER, the lab technician at Olympia Multispecialty, a young Caucasian woman with dark hair, was completely unprofessional, rude, and impossible to engage with. This person refused to answer questions about my tests, then refused to perform the ordered blood work "because I was rude" (my questions about how to appropriately return the tests to her), and forced me to go outside the office for these services. It seems as though this person enjoys taking her bad day out on patients, so be warned that her unkind attitude gives her some sort of sick pleasure and you should definitely go elsewhere for the lab services that Olympia multi specialty requires. read more

Just another medical machine and their front desk receptionist is rude. They tack on multiple visits--so called meet & greets--with their doctors before actually doing any procedure. Not impressed but then, this is sadly how most clinics are these days. The doctors are required to see too many patients and spend little time with you once you've established a relationship. read more

OMSC made the bad choice of dropping Tricare, the military insurance. Any doctor who turns away military folx is pretty low in my book!

My husband sees a cardiologist at the Clinic. Very professional. He does listen to what we have to say, which I appreciate. Just learned he's retiring so we'll see what happens. read more

Covid protocols - bad. Especially bad since this is a HEALTHcare Center!!!Had a recent visit to review preparations for an upcoming procedure. Great job social distancing.... in line and in the lobby - good. They asked the standard questions - good. Plastic partitions, pens marked clean and dirty and hand sanitizer at check in - good. Now I get called into the back with a medical assistant to go over the instructions - great job on process. BUT we were not socially distanced. Sitting facing each other much closer than 6 feet. She handed me a dirty pen she was using and asked me to sign papers. I politely asked for a clean pen which she quickly got then handed it to me with her bare unsanitized hands. Why bother having clean pens at the front? Why have the plastic shield up front? Why practice social distancing at entry, to check in or sitting in the lobby?!?! It isn't happening in the back where many patients (like me) have health issues. Whoever is in charge of developing and overseeing Covid practices should be called on the carpet read more

First thing I would like to make very clear is that this review is not about my doctor, Dr. Dunn with the Multi-Specialty Clinic. Dr. Dunn is a brilliant caring doctor and I believe he truly cares about the well-being of his patients. Dr. is a quality provider. The one star is for his office staff. More specifically, whomever is in charge of making the appointments. I recently called to set up an appointment to have my heart checked before my surgery as per the patient guidelines given to me. I did not wait for the last minute to do this. I called over a month in advance. After explaining why I needed the appointment, the woman on the line informed me that Dr. Dunn's appointments were not available until the first week of April. (I needed my appointment before March 28th) There was a very long pregnant pause. Ok, fine, I then asked if she could ask Dr. Dunn to please give me a referral since he was unavailable because it would just be a short appointment/EKG to see if my heart could withstand surgery. She stated, "your doctor needs to make the referral." I was really temped to say, "hey ding-a-ling, Dr. Dunn is my doctor." I believed that I was talking to an uncaring person that didn't have the ability to problem solve, nor help me, so I just got off the phone. This is the second time I was treated as if I was insignificant from the appointment desk. I called about three years ago because my blood pressure was sky high. I had terrible headaches, dizzy etc. I called Dr. Dunn's office asking for advice and if I could see Dr. Dunn. I was willing to sit in the office and wait all day to be fitted in if need be. Nope; the scheduler said that an appointment in a week could be made. She didn't go and check with the Dr or say she'd check and call me back.....nothing. Basically, see ya. So I called my primary doctor and she had me come in immediately and resolved my issue. I have lost confidence in this office staff to relay any information to Dr. Dunn about my concerns or health issue. read more

My barely-18yo got referred to them, they called her, scheduled an appointment, she went to it. They didn't say a word about insurance issues, just said "sign these papers", and slipped an ABN into her paperwork. When she SHOWED UP for the 2nd visit, they REFUSED to see her because "our contracts have changed" since the 1st visit 4 weeks prior and the insurance "wasn't preferred anymore." Then they sent a bill saying the insurance hadn't paid in full and my 18 owed for the 1st visit. When I called to find out why, they informed me nothing had changed, the insurance had never been preferred, she'd signed an ABN, and she should have known the first visit. Pretty shady. read more

Everything went smoothly from scheduling appt to check out. All personnel was professional, efficient and friendly. Sorry, can't remember names. I had a colonoscopy. Easiest one ever. Talked with others in the waiting room and all talked the place up. The doctors own the facility so they have a vested interest in doing a great job. read more

After the way I was treated by the staff at Olympia Multi-specialty Clinic - total lack of caring about me - when my pains become too much for me - I will just look to suicide as a way out. With a very small bit of attention to detail, I could have been spared four plus hours of waiting for a prescription today, and a lot of frustration. I can't say how long I've actually had to wait, because I have not yet gotten things straightened out. I changed pharmacies at my last appointment; however the clinic sent the prescription to the original pharmacy. When I checked at the pharmacy I'd asked for, they told me they had no new prescription for me. I called the office and asked them if they'd sent the order, and was told they'd sent it to the original pharmacy and would switch it. They did, but there's 1 hour. Little did I know, the original pharmacy had my prescription waiting for me (no confirmation email???) and then cancelled it when they were called by the clinic. However, pharmacy #1 already billed insurance. Sooooo.... when I got the email from pharmacy #2, it stated they couldn't fill the prescription because it was denied by insurance, as it was too soon to fill. So I called the insurance customer service to find out why (2 hours) and was told the above information (billed by pharm #1, needed to have pharm #2 chat with pharm #1 to reverse the claim). So now I've been on the phone waiting for pharm #2 to answer so I can get this information to them. (3 hours). My call has timed out twice, now three times, and I've redialed and waited. So, maybe this will get sorted this afternoon, but I am losing hope. As I said.... A VERY LITTLE ATTENTION TO DETAIL would have smoothed everything out. read more

After hearing how great Dr Omeara was from my father, I decided this is where I should go. And after my first appointment, I quickly remembered why I did not return back in 2009 for a colonoscopy. At my first appointment I was asked by the Dr "what do you want me to do about it" after he entered the room. Hmmm, your a specialist, Im paying you to tell me what to do about it. I am an RN at our local hospital and I cant imagine one of our hospitalists or surgeons walking into a room and saying "what do you want me to do about it". Throughout my entire appointment I felt as if I was being scolded for not returning back in 2009. (However I did follow up with another physician at a different office and had a wonderful experience in 2009. Unfortunately since then she has moved her practice out of state). My next not so pleasant experience was with a receptionist. I called to notify them that my medication was not received by my pharmacy. That is when I was told that I was wrong, they read it and that is what it said. They sent it so call my pharmacy (which I informed her I had already done). After being talked down to, I again called my pharmacy and my medication was NOT there. So again I called back and the next person I talked to was again very rude. So an easy fix, I took my business elsewhere. Bottom line the Drs bed side manner and the staffs customer service and knowledge of medications was an epic fail. read more

I had Dr Heap as my dr. Very compassionate yet professional. I had to cancel two appointments for my colonoscopy. They were very good at rescheduling me and getting me in a timely manner. The staff throughout the proceedings were fantastic. Highly recommend the practice. read more

Used gastroenterology services. I had to bring my 2-year old with me, and when he got a little rambunctious, a nurse came in to take him out to color with her, which was so helpful. Dr. Thompson was showed true concern with my digestive problems, and then showed genuine happiness when I told her that my issues had resolved themselves with her help. read more
