Totally disappointed in this coney! Who makes coneys using uncased hot dogs? There was "no snap" to these and they were mediocre at best. Also, ordered one without mustard- came to us with both having mustard on them! Really ? Three item order and still can't prepare it correctly? It has been awhile since my last visit. I had a great bowl of chicken lemon rice soup along with a carved off the spit gyro sandwich (with extra meat) and hot, crispy perfectly cooked french fries. The gyro did not disappoint - loaded with gyro meat and one of the best around town. And the fries were excellent too! Great service too! read more

Love this coney spot for breakfast! The staff are friendly and provide quick service. This little spot has a friendly ambiance and fills up quickly but the sometime 10-15 minute wait is worth it. If you're up super early to start your weekend errands stop in and get the early breakfast specials... M-F 7a-10a, Saturday 7a-11a, Sunday 7a-2p... you'll get nice savings. We went for Mother's Day breakfast around 9:30 AM. First walked in and it is a narrow and long restaurant with what I would guess about 20 booths and a couple tables. Some of the booths can fit 6 people. I ordered the all American breakfast, 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, toast and I got pancakes instead of potatoes. Pretty good overall and tasted good. Ham was my only complaint, it was small and very dry. Hubby ordered the country breakfast, 2 eggs, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, sausage and he added an order of toast. Eggs and sausage were good. The hash browns were extremely dry to the point he wouldn't eat them and the gravy was cold. Very cold, so he didn't eat that as well. I still can't figure out why the gravy was so cold, especially for how busy they were. I hope it was just because they were so busy that these things were wrong. read more

Husband and I have been dining here many years and I can honestly say we have never gotten a bad meal. At the end of a strip mall, CVS at the other end, lots of parking. Pretty good size place, Counter eating, many booths down the middle and along the wall. All the staff are always so pleasant to you! Large menu, serve breakfast all day, delicious sandwiches, salads, Greek food, Saganaki, wraps, serve Blazo pie for dessert. They do a great carry out business as well. Always have 3-4 soup choices, daily specials. One of my favorites is the Eggs Benedict, so good! All the locals, workers eat here. Olympic is a nice local diner. Their Greek salad is one of my favorites, they also have good breakfasts. It's always packed, we just opt for take out. During the pandemic I've picked up a lot of take out orders that were wrong (and I understand they're trying) but Olympic never gets my order wrong. I have given this place many chances and I got food poisoning from chicken lemon rice soup on Thursday, it must have been old. I've ordered grilled cheese sandwich which the bread was not grilled and cheese was not melted. It doesn't get any more simple than soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. Ridiculous. This use to be my place to go to like 7yrs ago Good Food portion sizes were great for the price fast forward to today 7/19/2024 and a couple of other times before today I ordered carry out breakfast each time First the Breakfast special is $7 and change this is the price I was quoted remind order the same food every time and each time a different price was given and the food was smaller portions. I ordered food today scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon no toast no hash two orders paid $17.36 left the restaurant called and order the exact same meals included hash and toast price was $6 per meal then when I ask why did I just pay almost $18 the lady who answered said she didn't include the chews which that would have made the meals $20 something all I'm saying I will no longer be patronizing this place the food is good and I do not mind paying but I do not like consistency either the price is the price different times I can understand but before 11:00am breakfast specials Price should always be the same. This is a fabulous Coney Island. One of my favorites in the Detroit metro area. The lemon rice soup is amazing! I love lemon rice soup, so much that I make my own which is almost as good as theirs, but not quite. What I wouldn't do for that recipe...Yummy simply awesome. I also enjoy the greek salads here. They have a light greek dressing that is to die for. I like it better then the full fat flavor. They sell both dressings by the bottle and I suggest picking one up for home. I also love the gyro supremes comes loaded with feta cheese so good. This place is all around good. They have some awesome deep fried mushrooms, coney dogs and chili fries. Service always excellent. This buisness has this location as well as a Canton, and Westland, location. The owner is a gem and all locations are fabulous. read more

Olympic Coney Island is within a mile of my work, and it is my favorite place to head for lunch. The food is delicious -- I don't think I've ever had a bad meal there. The prices are very reasonable, the waitstaff is extremely friendly, and the food is served quickly. (I get an hour for lunch, and I usually have a little time to nap in my car after I get back to work. I don't think I can say that for too many other sit-down restaurants in the area.) I recommend the Greek salad, Greek chicken breast bowl, chef's salad, tortilla wraps (chicken salad and crispy chicken especially -- yum!), chicken lemon rice soup, gyros, and omelettes (especially the gyro omelette and Nick's omelette). It's all good. (The one thing my husband and I didn't really care for were the breakfast biscuits, but they're not horrible. Just don't expect them to taste like those from KFC or McDonald's.) My husband loves the coneys, too. He often gets the #2 special, a regular coney and a loose meat coney with fries and a pop. Carryout is super quick, too. Whenever I call to place an order, they tell me it'll be five minutes, and I think maybe once I had to wait just a minute or two for them to finish my order once I got there. The other times, my food was ready and waiting for me. I just can't recommend Olympic Coney Island enough for a quick, delicious, inexpensive meal! read more

I dont live in the area but a gf of mine does & when I come over we eat out, the last 2x iv been to this one its been very bad, the first time I had breakfast, I did not see the condiments on the side & they didn't bother letting me know the jelly, napkin & silverware was available so I went on only to find out i did not have whats needed, & the food was alot to be desired, the second time i went I ordered chef salad, what I enjoy with it is the peta bread, well, the bread was stale & the salad was disgusting! the lettuce was brown & there was no taste! I've been going here for years since I've moved to the area. All the waitresses are very friendly. Went in today ordered a side of broccoli and chicken. Took my last bite and there was an aphid (small green bug) floating at the bottom of the container. Went back brought It to the managers attention he immediately denied It and smushed the bug before looking at it. Told me It was a brown piece! We went back and forth and I was just letting him know I know what I saw and just to wash fresh produce better because It happens. Instead he made It seem like I was seeing things and continued to banter. He went on to say I didn't like It and could've said that, which was untrue. I'm not worried about getting $1.75 refund or credit. I won't return to this establishment the situation could have been handled differently! read more

This place is nothing special. When we walked in, my first thought was "this place smells like sh*t". Because it did. Not literally like sh*t, but some mix of cleaning supplies and body odor. It wasn't a classy smell. The place looks like your typical cheap diner but didn't look dirty or anything aside from smelling like teen spirit and the aftermath of a vomit clean-up (I just HAD to come up with another simile, I couldn't resist). The fact that people are declaring Olympic Coney Island a five star joint actually worries me. I will probably spend the entire night tossing and turning, wondering what happened to the United Tastebuds of America. It's pretty lame. Supermarket bread with over-greased hash browns with standard eggs. It was fine, but nothing more. There are other budget breakfast spots that do it right. Bottom line: there is no reason for you to ever go here UNLESS all of the following conditions are met: 1) you have no food in the house 2) you only have five dollars 3) you live within a five minute walking distance 4) you can't convince one of your friends to make you food Service was meh. They have really good, fast and friendly service here, I had the Chili cheese fries with a Coney dog with everything and the dog was really good with the crispness that a dog should have, the chili was really thick and filling.
