I started coming to this office about a year ago. At first, it was fine. Dr. Donnelly was friendly -- we'd laugh, share some jokes -- and I felt like I was in good hands. That all changed when I was referred to their oral surgeon, Phil Kasier. Before the appointment, Dr. Donnelly said Phil was "very passionate about his job," which struck me as a weird thing to say. Then I met Phil... and wow. The arrogance hit the room before he did. He gave off such a smug, hint of racist, rude vibe while discussing treatment and pricing. His whole attitude completely turned me off. Even if I had the $6,000+ it was going to cost, I'd never give that kind of money to someone who talks down to patients. No thanks. When I came back for a cleaning, Dr. Donnelly asked if I'd moved forward with Phil. I said no due to cost and jokingly asked if they knew an oral surgeon who did pro bono work. That joke apparently didn't land -- they got noticeably annoyed and snapped a very stern "no," like I was a kid begging for candy at the checkout line. As I was leaving, I overheard Donnelly telling the staff how I asked about a free surgeon. Extremely unprofessional and I wasn't serious, if I was it didn't warrant the attitude! That was my last visit. Dental insurance barely covers anything, and when I'm paying out-of-pocket, I expect respect -- not arrogance or gossip. I have had so many bad experiences at outside facilities and thus have been avoiding dental work which in turn has left me with a lot of work i need to have done now. By some miracle I came across Dr. Chang, who single handedly has helped me with all things dental anxiety. He is truly passionate about the work he does and cares about his patients. This is the worst dental office I've ever visited. I have used "Modern Dentistry" for years in Olympia, Texas, and Gig Harbor and this one (Gig Harbor) is the only one that receives a thumbs down. Here's a little background, I have a fear of dentists. A real fear and it is due to childhood trauma (related to dentistry), so I explain all of this in the initial paperwork and visit. This way we can ensure it's a good fit for both of us. It was obvious it was not a good fit at the beginning there were lots of red flags (e.g.) changing the dentist's day of the appointment, rescheduling every appointment more than once, unwillingness to fix other issues during the appointment, no dental hygienist, and cleanliness of the office. I received a call today to reschedule an already rescheduled appointment, which make my cleaning appointment late by a couple of months now because they keep scheduling my appointment times at a time they're not even open. This is not the first time this is continual. I was told today that they close at 4:00 PM daily and are not open on weekends. If they would've told me this at the beginning I would've already found a dental office that could accommodate seeing me after work or on the weekends. Unfortunately, this situation with this dental office has heightened my fear! read more

We changed our dentists after 15 years somewhere else, and have been glad we did. Olympic Dentistry does a great job of scheduling, and providing follow-up reminders via text message & emails. When my dentist was not available, they called and we rescheduled for a time still within the week I was supposed to go. They really try to work with you. I saw Dr. Phil Kaiser for my wisdom tooth removal, I am very impressed with how well I am healing. He was very kind and even noticed that I should have my frenum cut back to avoid future gum recession, so I was able to get that done at the same time. Had my appointment today with Olympic Modern Dentistry. Hands down one of my best experiences at the dentist. I arrived about 20 minutes early for my 5:00 pm appointment to fill out the needed forms. I was called back for x-rays just after my scheduled time. Megan the dental assistant was caring and quick with the x-rays. I was definitely very impressed that they did a full pano x-rays, as well as individuals images. Had a cleaning with Dr. Chang and he took great care during the whole process. It was refreshing to not feel rushed and he took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. I felt the cleaning was very thorough and I really appreciated that Dr. Chang and Megan made sure that I wasn't in any discomfort during the process. If I could give them a zero review I would. A new dentist work on my husband who's teeth was fine. He came in for a cleaning and was told he needed a procedure. Apparently the procedure was done by a new dentist and caused tremendous pain and suffering to my Husband and made a mistake. My husband had to come back several times to Fix something that dentist caused. The owner said she got rid of that Dentist since. They seem to have a billing issue. We gave them two dental insurances to work with. My family only went there for a couple months since they seem to mess up on dental procedures and yet somehow they use my daughter orthodontist benefit. I found that out when I went to get braces for her. She only had cavities filled. I am Still getting a year later notices that they are trying to bill my insurance. read more

This dentist has no integrity. I asked them to verify my insurance would cover the crown. They said they called and got approval that it was covered. When the claim was denied, they said the insurance changed their mind. My insurance has no record of the pre-approval call being made. They have a valid record for every other pre-approval, but not this one. Either they lied to ensure they could charge me for the most expensive procedure rather than opting for a repair, or they are incompetent and just didn't do their job to ensure the procedure was actually covered. Either way, the trust has been lost in this provider. Rather than make it right as most dentist offices would have done, they decided to lose me and my girlfriend as clients. This was a poor choice as we both stayed with our previous dentist for 15+ years prior to moving to the area. So, I'm pointing out bad business decisions as well. read more

FIVE STARS! First appointments 3 years ago were excellent, Dr. Albers was wonderful. However, she transfered, so I needed to see a new dentist there. That experience went very poorly and I decided I would never go back. (new crown fell off in 2 weeks, needed an extraction instead). Fast forward, I decided to go back one more time to give it another chance, so glad I did! New staff and even a new dentist. The receptionist was great! The xray tech was outstanding, she was gentle and efficient. No poorly placed bite wings cutting into my gums or resting on my tongue, (no gagging) no pain. Dr. Chang is great, very gentle demeanor, educational, doesn't oversell anything, acknowledges dental office anxiety, made me feel relaxed. Ended up with a long appointment with the hygienist. I have never had such a good experience with a dental hygienist as I did this time. Very detail oriented, spent 2 hours on cleaning, root planing, descaling and a laser treatment. (3 years of covid kept me from the dentist). She was pleasant, very gentle and very thorough. HUGE thumbs up! I will be going back, so glad I now feel I have a dental office I can stick with. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Chang and his dental assistant Rachel. I was getting two crowns and had three cavaties. Usually when I get the shots to numb my nerves it hurts quite a bit. Dr. Chang gave me the shots and there was almost no pain. They communicated with me the entire time and made sure I was comfortable. I had all of it done in one appointment and I was able to take a break when I needed one. They were a great team. I have found my permanent dentist and dental assistant. read more

UPDATE: It's been nearly one month since my first appt (which was 1 week prior to the root canal appt) Where the dentist put me on an antibiotic known as clindamycin. I had diarrhea after this antibiotic however I knew that was normal. Fast forward one month later the diarrhea never stopped. It worsened. And along came stomach pain, nausea and sever illness. I now have a serious and fatal illness known as C Diff- clostridium difficile. After several dr appts and scans and labs we figured out this medication this dentist gave me causes me to have c diff. This is a severe infection that can cause sepsis of the colon. DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Oh and by the way, they have no trouble reaching out to me for payment. OMD is a preferred provider for my dental insurance so I decided to try them out. I am glad I did. Easy scheduling, saw Dr. Skipper for my check up and a crown, he communicates well, is kind and did an excellent job -- as did the Rachel the assistant for my crown. Rachel is super at shade matching. The best part one visit for a crown. This included the crown prep, them creating the crown, me listening to a book while crown was made -- and a little nap, and voila new crown that matches the rest of my smile nicely. This place is a total rip off. I paid for my daughters braces in full blandly. I paid for her expander 100% of pocket because they said insurance doesnt cover it. Turns out my insurance does in fact cover the whole cost and they never even attempted to bill them for it. No body can answer questions on what I actually paid for or the status of my refund. So glad I transferred care to another orthodontists. The new orthodontists also said that the 30 month care plan they put me on was way too long for my daughters teeth. My insurance paid them based off of 30 months so they screwed me that way as well. read more

This is the best dental office I have been to. I hadn't seen a dentist in 2 or more years and I dont really floss, so I was nervous about how much work I would need. Everyone here is super nice and they made me feel very welcome. I had to have a deep cleaning and a filling done so I was here for awhile. Ashley was great, she got me settled in and took the xrays. Dr Ahn was super nice and gentle with my teeth, she did my exam and filling. Tracy was also gentle and made sure I was nice and numb, she gave my teeth a deep cleaning which I really needed. They really they hard to fit you in as soon as possible (like working through lunch to help someone be taken care of). 2. They really LISTENED to my needs, my concerns and addressed all of them, and they respected my (somewhat alternative) opinions and views. 3. If there is one thing i cant stand is an egocentric (most often male) dentist that treats the assistant or hygienist or receptionists as "inferiors". I was referred to Dr. Ahn by a family friend who had a great experience. I've never been to a dental office so high tech and clean. I had a new patient consult and a crown done in about 2.5 hours. This dental office takes advantage of its patients and pushed several procedures on myself and other family members that were unneeded. I trusted my dental healthcare professional to not over-sell me or treat my mouth as a money maker. However, my back tooth was sawed down to almost nothing for a hefty cost. I didn't realize until later when my new tooth cap broke (within 2 years, though it was guaranteed to last 10), and I had since moved to a different dentist office, that the entire procedure was unneeded and actually was more detrimental to my tooth than helpful. Thankfully, my new dentist office was extremely supportive and helpful in resolving the issue, but still, they could not undo what had been done at my cost (both financially and health-wise). I am a big fan! I regularly go 1-3 years without seeing a dentist which drives my husband crazy. I just can't seem to find time to have someone scrape my teeth and tell me bad news about my oral hygiene. This place is awesome and I will go regularly because they are so kind, fast, thorough, flexible and friendly. I came in for a regular exam/cleaning knowing it had been too long and left happy. I appreciated that they asked me in advance what services I was interested in so that they didn't try and sell me on things like "celebrity capped teeth!" I was impressed by their clean office with what looks like the most up to date equipment. It really is modern! I had an initial consultation and then they set my appointment for another day. I was a bit annoyed at first because I don't like going to the dentist in the first place and then trying to find another day to get my teeth scrapped, drilled, etc was daunting but I'm glad I did. I arrived on day two for a deep cleaning with lasers, a cavity fill, sealant, and an in office whitening session. I could not have left happier! The team scrapped my teeth until they were squeaky clean, filled my cavity/seal in record time and then set my up for the teeth whitening. They numbed me up so I could get through all three sessions. All in all it was awesome! I most appreciate that Dr Ahn ensured I got everything I needed done in a quality and timely fashion. This is possibly the best dentist office. My experience as a patient from beginning to end is always spot on. I've had many procedures, small and large, done by Dr. Ahn and all have turned out perfectly. Every time Dr. Ahn numbs me with the needle, I honestly don't even realize that it's over. Dr. Reyes is just as amazing. You can feel that she genuinely wants to offer the best solutions to help with my dental needs. Her bedside manner and crown she worked on was on point. I travel often for work, and of course two days before my trip, my tooth cracked. I called OMD and they were able to get me in, during a busy schedule nonetheless, to help me with my situation. I was in and out in about 2 hours and this really saved what could've been an awful trip. Another helpful tip is that the office has specialists. I've never seen this but it makes total sense, because now I can see my general dentist and specialist (Dr. Lee the Periodontist). They are all in the same office so they can talk/consult with each other instead of me sending my x-rays to a different location and hoping that they're on the same page. Last year I was in pain and my regular dentist couldn't get me in for a root canal on a molar. I called around and they fit me in surprisingly fast. Dr. Ahn numbed me and then proceeded with my root canal... half way through I started feeling EVERYTHING and she stopped and re-numbed me, continued and I could still feel every time she hit my nerve. Numbed me again and again... wasn't taking. I have a high pain tolerance and have had a root canal before and never experienced pain like this. I was squeezing the arm rests and had tears streaming down my face when she stopped and asked if I wanted her to stop because she couldn't get me numb. I said no, just continue I'm already here and my tooth is already opened. She "finished" my "root canal" and sent me on my way with antibiotics and ibuprofen. I got in my car and called my husband crying. I've never received dental care like that before in my life! Fast forward to today and I have an abscess on my gums below this same tooth. Went to my normal dentist and he told me she did not go down all the way for a proper root canal. Not only did I endure pain at this office, I wasted my money on a botched root canal. Now I have to go see a specialist that's going to cost more time and money. Save your money, time, and heartache and find a dentist that knows what they're doing and does it right the first time. read more

It has been a long time since I've seen a dentist, and I knew there would be problems, but their refusal to clean my healthy front teeth if I didn't pay for $800 deep cleaning left feeling that this and so many other dentists only care about the upsell in services. Exactly as the name states, this dental office is MODERN. I was pretty surprised when I walked in that new patient exams were $59 because the office itself looks expensive. They seem to have the latest in dental technology and the staff is also top notch. I haven't had much success in finding a dentist I'm comfortable with but I think I've found my dentist for life! In fact, after seeing a periodontist at olympic modern dentisty(works of of their building 1 a week) it is clear to me that I will never be going back. After getting 2 more opinions, I have realized that this periodontist would have made my matter worse . Never again. His suggestions were completely opposite of the other specialists I went to. That said, I was very impressed with the office and their state-of-the-art equipment, the cleanliness of the office, and, even more so, their professional - but extremely kind staff. Well it's been a couple of days since my wife has had her crown done. It's hard to believe what an incredible experience and awesome outcome. It's almost as if it never even happened. She went in on Friday, upset that her tooth broke, scared to go to the dentist, much less a new dentist, and 2.5 hrs later, after X-rays, a total of about 5 minutes in the chair, waiting in the lobby for the porcelain tooth to be made, another few minutes in the chair and all done. No pain, no impressions for the crown, not even the slightest discomfort. WOW. Dr Ahn was top in her class and it shows. As well as we couldn't believe the latest dentistry equipment we had never seen or experienced before. Makes us no longer concerned about going to the dentist, which believe me is huge. E.B. Well it's a week later and I decided to take advantage of their $59. Special. Full mouth X-rays, cleaning and consultation review with Dr Ahn. Another great experience. We have a dentist in LA that we have used for 30+years. He will never invest in new equipment because what he has works and it's paid off.
