I have come to hate the trend of "reimagined" Mexican food. Usually it's in an upscale neighborhood and restaurant and 99.9% of the time it's gimmicky garbage offensive to the authentic tradition and flavors of Mexico. It's always in a place where they spent more money on marble counter tops and decor then actual quality ingredients. So going into this place my expectations were already bottom level and expected the usual trendy nightmare of hot garbage the housewives of Westchester would call "LIKE awesome Mexican" I was thankfully wrong this is not a trendy housewives of Westchester Mexican spot. Taco street has blended perfectly true tradition Mexican flavors but on an upscale level without any ridiculous gimmicks. It's a small place and you order at the front then they bring you the food. Everything is fresh to order and it's a decent sized portions. Kids meals are a decent size and good value as well. They also have an all day breakfast menu and that automatically gets them on my awesome list. I rated it 5 stars. True score of 4.1. I went with 5 because I wanted to boost the overall score because the place is obviously getting lower marks from the spoiled privileged brats (the adults) in the area that expect it to be a trendy ridiculous club like atmosphere as they sip on overly watered down frozen margaritas. read more

Driving by and saw the taco joint. Mexicans working and i saw the al pastor spinning pit of meat with the pineapple on top. I said this must be legit.. Well the al pastor was blah and here is why. The meat didnt taste like al pastor with the pineapple, they doused so much sauce on top that you could not tell what it was. Dont get me wrong but you your tell the customer about the sauce if it's not how its supposed to be served. They do make their own tortilla on the flat but they are small and you need to eat 4-5 tacos at $3.95 a pop. Also ordered chicken nachos and its blah too. The chicken was tasteless but at least you could tell it was chicken. The guacamole was yellowish and we had to put lime on it to make it better. Service was good and pleasant. Casual spot, the shrimp tacos are amazing, chips and guac are also pretty great. My other tacos (chicken and pork) were more meh. They recommend three tacos but unless you are really hungry, two would be sufficient. Next time: two shrimp tacos and share the chips and guac! read more

Fun place for Mother's Day! Sunshine poured into this tiny but welcoming room open to the street with a kind waitress who gave us our choice of tables. When we saw the nachos at the next table, si si si! So delicious that we didn't get any photos. The burrito is ginormous, and the tacos were luscious. Great quality ingredients. Good solid taco spot. I got a shrimp and a veggie taco and they were both good. They pile up the ingredients which I really appreciated so you get your money's worth. I got two tacos but probably could of gotten three to be a little more full. The staff was fine..not super helpful. Only one person was interested in speaking to us- the chefs were busy texting and then cooking the food. I personally like to associate and learn about the restaurants and what they recommend to eat. i really wanted to like this place but their food was kinda bland. the chips and salsa was pretty good but not the best. the chicken taco was messy and over kill with so much toppings on a tiny tortilla. it was a little greasy too. the chicken just didn't have much flavor. the rice was pretty good too but again not much flavor. service was friendly and theres plenty of seating though. maybe someone else will like it but it wasn't for me. read more

I'll say up front that I only get takeout. However, these are some of the best tacos I've ever had! My favorites are the Al Pastor (marinated, rotisserie pork with pineapple; a real treat) and the Taco de Huevo breakfast taco (served all day) which is scrambled egg topped with all the trimmings. For personal reasons I ask them to hold the sauces. That's also part of the reason I gave 4 instead of 5: I absolutely love their flautas, but often when I ask for no sauces, I get them anyway. Wow - What a night! Food was GREAT, but because of the experience we had, it was ruined, and we will never go back! We arrived at 6:15pm and after seeing the menu ordered 2 drinks because it was Happy Hour. Then ordered 2 more at 6:25p after letting the bartender know that we wanted to get them before happy hour was over. We all laughed. When we ordered the Street Corn - it clearly says that it comes with "8 oz homemade chips with fresh Guac, salsa & hummus." - when the street corn was delivered, we askes... where is all the other things? The bartender said, "oh, that was an error on the menu, but if you want it, I will give it to you". We say, yes, that's what we ordered! When the bill comes - we are charged an additional $11 for the Guac (that was supposed to come with the Street Corn, and $12 for the drinks. When we complain, we are told that the menu was wrong, and we are responsible - and then they turn over a sign at the bar - that shows that Cocktail hour is over at 6:00pm. So, this sign was supposed to override the paper menu? We refused to pay this charge - but still left a 20% tip for the service. Really bad taste in our mouths! read more

Food was fresh, ambiance was cute and casual and my kids loved it! We had the enchilada which came with rice and beans, fish and shrimp tacos which were stellar, Mexican corn which was off the Cobb served in a bowl which I thought was genius, and churros which were hot and came with caramel and chocolate sauce. I REALLY wanted this spot to be good, because not only is it a really nice looking venue and pretty close to me, but also because the best "authentic" taco spot I've encountered in this county is literally 40 minutes from where I live, without traffic. That being said, the food here was very average. The fish taco was really tasty, but the pastor and suadero tacos were nothing of note, except that the meat on them (pork and braised beef, respectively) had a very strange quality/consistency to them, almost like they came from a frozen meal. That also could be said about the "chicken", which I added to the traditional nachos plate. The rest of this appetizer was pretty good, but the decision by them to use ground chicken instead of sliced grilled strips was a head scratcher...and also not noted on the menu. The questionable quality of the aforementioned proteins makes me wonder if this place is using cheaper-quality meat in order to save money. Reminder, owners: You're in Chappaqua, where nothing is cheap, so it's okay to upgrade! Due to its close proximity, I will give Taco Street another shot, as I have yet to try their drinks or desserts, but I was not impressed this first visit. read more

Walked in and placed a to-go order this evening. Was met with a very friendly young man who assisted with the whole process, the woman who had been working behind the bar helped to bag my order and double checked it was correct. Wasn't super busy at the time, so it felt nice to be given attention. Ordered two tacos and the dessert churros. Total was over $20 with the tip. Tacos are small. The quality of ingredients is excellent, and the flavors were delicious so I can somewhat justify the price. This new taco place is pretty tasty! We went there today to check it out, as I've seen it driving by but haven't had a chance to try it. Having lived in Southern California for a loooong time, I've missed casual, simple Mexican food. The verdict: Taco Street is a nice addition to the food options nearby (less "fancy" ie. more affordable...something that's badly needed). We tried 5 different tacos, mostly a variety of pork and beef: carnitas, al pastor, suadero (flank steak), chorizo, and shrimp. The hubby said that al pastor was his favorite. I liked them all, although the carnitas was less crispy and had less flavor than the carnitas I know from Southern Cali. We also shared guac & chips. Those were a bit too pricey, in my opinion for the portion/flavor. The tacos, priced at only $3.95 per taco, were pretty full of filling. So, even they were small (that's what street tacos are!), I got full pretty quickly. Next time, I'm going to try their burritos and the in-house drinks like horchata. Tip: Bring cash! A sign indicated that they'll be changing to credit soon but are cash-only for now. Also, make sure to grab a few napkins as you will need them. Overall: Tacos, yum! It's a winner. My partner and I stopped here on our "Westchester taco hunt" as we search for the best tacos. So far, this spot is the winner! We loved the assortment of authentic dishes on the menu. My partner is a chef from Mexico and agreed that the dishes were authentic and unique. We got most of the tacos offered and we enjoyed them all. My favorites were the pastor and the carne asada. The staff is very friendly making you feel right at home and the overall ambiance of the space is inviting, clean, authentic and comfortable. Very bad business practice. I ordered a very expensive burrito bowl ($22!!) and a vegan taco. Specifically told them no cheese. When we got home the taco was covered in cheese and the note on the box said "only cheese". I called the restaurant and she acknowledged the error and told me I can come back and return it. I had a zoom meeting so that wasn't an option. I asked for a refund since my vegan husband couldn't eat it. She told me they don't issue refunds and I need to come back. What?!!? How about an apology for the error? How about offering to deliver a replacement? And no refund? I left my phone number and credit card info to give to the manager and heard from no one. And got charged the full amount for our very overpriced dinner. I'm local and want to support local, but this is inexcusable. read more

Probably the best tacos I've ever had anywhere. Great for sitting outside too during COVID - huge garage door openings so even if you're inside near the door, it's like you're outside. We moved here about 6 months ago and have eaten from Taco Street probably 15 times. Everyone we've brought there loves it too. Breakfast burrito and burrito bowl, also fantastic. I am so upset I phone ordered for pickup at Taco Street "Edith" picked up the phone she was rude and even made fun of the way I said Nachos & Salsa. Why would a server be so rude after I placed my order which consisted of 2 Entrees, My Nachos & Salsa $36.00 my husband drove there & was "asked" name of order he said my name Grace and was given a small bag got home it was a completely different order for 1 person we called back and was told by "Edith" this happened because there were to many orders with that name LOL I didn't know I moved to Grace headquarters. Delicioso! Everyone loved their tacos, made with fresh corn tortillas. We had carne asada, lengua, chorizo, camarones and loved them all. The horchata was creamy & cinnamony ) the plantains were crispy on the outside and drizzzled with sweetened condensed milk. The churros were perfectly crispy and cane with caramel sauce for dipping.
