I had ordered the broiled chicken and my boyfriend had ordered the 12 oz sirloin steak. we ordered the snow crab legs also. the snow crab was very fishy and they have us nothing to try and crack it with. the chicken was dry and unseasoned and so tiny. the baked potato was extremely over cooked and dry. and the steak was so raw that we could pull our single fibers of meat from the cut of steak. when we complained they had a huge attitude like we were the ones who made the food. we also didn't get some of the add ons to our food that we were supposed to get. I hope we don't get food poisoning from this awful food. don't go here unless you want to spend almost $100 on small portions and unseasoned gross food. read more

We really enjoyed Oma's restaurant while staying at the Bavarian Inn. My 2 yr old toddler calls her Dutch grandma "Oma" and INSISTED we dine here haha We received a coupon for cheesy potato dumplings with our room package and these were very good, not heavy or greasy, but crispy and yummy. Food came in ample portions, I had the stuffed bell pepper, a great vegetarian option, and my hubs had the 2 piece fried chicken. Apparently, fried chicken is a must-do thing in Frankenmuth? The entrees come with two sides and a small garlic bread, so I felt as stuffed as my pepper by the end of my meal! They have a full bar and good drinks menu, my hubs tried a $5 draft beer flight, I had a sip of each since I'm preggers .. and my toddler tried to follow suit because she has noticed daddy seems to like this drink called beer lol Our server Chandler was great, attentive, prompt and very accommodating (and yes, he confirmed his mum named him after the popular "Friends" character). We dined on a Sunday before 5 PM so it wasn't busy and a good time to eat with little ones. The restaurant is small so I can see how that could pose a challenge during busy/peak times. The service was terrible! We ordered the onion appetizer it was supposed to come with ranch by the time the server brought it we were done with them. We get our entrees Cesar salad was missing from one. We barely got 2 teaspoons of gravy for 2 giant schnitzels so we asked for more and never got it! Our food was cold by the time we got it. Had the best dinner with my boyfriend here! Our waitress suggested the best menu items & drink items! I suggest getting the fiery mule if you are here ! Oh my gosh! Where to begin?!?! There is nothing authentically German about this joint! The so called schnitzel had some weird breading that tasted like pizza and the brat was a smoked keilbasa , and the pretzels were deep fried and dripping with grease so much so that the cheese would'nt even adhere to it the only german thing was the beer, to top it off when I asked for a Weisse beer the waitress had no idea what I meant?!?!? Shame on you for calling this place Oma's mine would have rolled in her grave. The staff are very friendly but the food was not good at all. We were there for a late breakfast and were served food that must have been reheated in the microwave. It was cold and rubbery. When I asked for fresh sausage they said that was not possible and therefore they simply took it off the bill. read more

We came here for the Easter buffet. So it may be an atypical experience. They followed Covid protocols well. Food was mostly good. But the buttered noodles, which are a favorite of mine at other Frankenmuth restaurants were terrible here. It was buffet style, they bussed our table and tried to give it away while we were in line. Turned out kind of funny. I didn't get the itemized bill right away, they added in gratuity, but in the bill I got it didn't say that. Had I not noticed I'd have tipped twice. read more

We had food from here twice while we stayed. Breakfast was TOP NOTCH! My husband had the Bavarian Benedict and it was very yummy! I had the apple cinnamon stuffed french toast, and it could have been considered a dessert. So very good! All of our food was hot, and our server was very nice. Highly recommend both of them! We ended up ordering pizza one night for room service. No addition charge for room service. Pizza was just....meh. This review will cover 3 visits over a long weekend, 2 of which are actually for Lorelei lounge which supposedly uses the same menu and kitchen, and doesn't appear to have a separate yelp page. 1st, Omas for breakfast. 4.5-5. Service was great, food was delicious. Had an omelette. It was great and they give you up to 5 ingredient choices. Lorelei. First the common experience. The beer flight is a deal. 3 pourings, 15 oz total for $5. The Bavarian dark is flavorful and i had it both times. The ale cheese soup is a must have. Individual experiences: 1st time, late dinner. Had the soup and a Frankenmuth pizza. The pizza was delicious. Service was good. Probably a 4 overall. 2nd time, also a late dinner. Had the soup again and Jaeger schnitzel with spaetzel. The schnitzel was good but not what I expected. It wasn't breaded. Googling after dinner indicated it's not uncommon to not be breaded so I won't consider it a negative for the review, but every schnitzel I've ever had has been breaded. The spaetzel had a strange flavor and a ton of melted butter in the bottom of the bowl. We also didn't get our breadsticks which we didn't realize until we were done and we saw another meal come out. I'm not a huge bread fan and probably wouldn't have eaten it anyway but it was listed in the menu as coming with all dinners. Service also wasn't as good the second time there. Very disappointed with the food. The "famous" chicken had no taste. I asked the waitress what the "hunter sauce" was, which came with my pork schnitzel & she had no knowledge of what it was. While staying at the Bavarian Inn, we ate at Oma's twice. Once for breakfast, another for dinner. The restaurant is conveniently located within the Bavarian Inn Lodge. For breakfast, we went for the $10.75 buffet inside the restaurant. We just couldn't see spending the $20+ for the Sunday brunch. The Oma's buffet was just fine and worth the money. The blueberry pancakes were delicious, the eggs, bacon and sausage were warm and good. We ordered coffee and were given a pot at the table. For dinner, we ordered the signature fried chicken and it did not disappoint. The breading is a little unique and well seasoned. Outstanding! It's the same recipe that's served at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant in town. The mashed potatoes were excellent, but the stuffing was a little questionable. It tasted fine, but looked gray in the restaurant lighting. The other real treat was the breadstick. I'm not a bread fan, but that breadstick was awesome. Service was friendly and consistently slow for dinner, but we were in no rush, so it didn't bother us. The problem appears to be in the kitchen. Regardless, if you're staying at the Bavarian Inn, you should go to Oma's. Decent food and convenient. read more

Oma's Restaurant inside of Bavarian Inn, is a fine dining choice when staying at the lodge. The service is top notch, the staff particularly the management goes above and beyond to make sure guest are happy and satisfied. I've dined here several times over the years. This particular visit we had a few issues and in return before leaving the supervisor on duty stopped by to check on our experience. We communicated our concerns and in return she issued us a 25 dollar voucher! Wow very nice. If dining here for dinner; I recommend the potato cheese dumplings as an appetizer. The Chedder Ale soup is also delish. All the burgers and sandwiches are tasty. The brisket sandwich being the star. They also slso offer the famous chicken dinner among others as well as Opa pizza. Also a great kids menu to boot. When dining here you don't feel like you need a wheelbarrow when leaving, like at the main restaurant family style, but still get the german experience with wait staff dressed in the German garb and outfits. Oma's also has a pretty stellar breakfast with many choices as well as cheese potato dumplings. In addition Oma's has a breakfast bar for heartier appetites. Prices are very reasonable, service great and a good hot meal to be had. read more

Very good, fresh food, with excellent coffee. Nice menu choices and great environment. We had never been here before and didn't know it was inside the Bavarian Inn, which we've been to many, many times before, so it was a pleasant surprise to find this quaint, cozy restaurant with so much to choose from. Normally I don't complain about food and even if I don't like it I'll do my best to eat it. I have to hand it to them. I didn't think you could mess up lemonade and chicken soup but they did a great job of making both totally inedible. The lemonade tasted like I would imagine dirty dishwater would taste. The chicken soup tasted sour with water downed broth and a few noodles veggies in it. Tried a bite and decided I didn't want to risk food poisoning and stopped. Ate here for breakfast. I was seeing conflicting opening times online so I emailed them and they told me it opened at 7am, but when we got there shortly after 7am it was already full of people. Horrible Service! Not sure about the food because we didn't stick around after a 50 minute wait just to get a skimpy side salad. The server/bartender informed us she didn't know how long we had been waiting and that they were short staffed, she was also the bartender, she was doing the best she could, and oh yes "she wasn't making our chicken!" As we were leaving she told us to have a nice evening!! Stopped in because we saw the new specials menu and it sounded amazing. I ordered the blackened walleye will kale chips and a blueberry walnut chutney over cauliflower purée. The walleye was maybe 3 oz and was more bones than fish. Flavor was ok but the walleye had a strange texture almost as if it was brined first to firm up the texture. My wife had the butternut squash risotto. Again flavor was ok somewhat lacking but the squash was still hard as though it was raw. The Giant Pretzel...AMAZING!!! I'd give anything to be able to make a pretzel like that. I ordered water which I got one glass and a refill as I was signing the bill. Was asked by the waitress how was everything. Our response was it's ok but expected more. She said great and walked away. Obviously didn't care. Hope our next return will be better. read more

Pros - Very convenient if you are staying at the Lodge and they have a gluten free menu, which is always a plus for my family. The food was good and the service was great. It looked like you could get the same chicken that is provided at the Bavarian Inn restaurant, but for cheaper. Had dinner and breakfast here because we stayed at the lodge. Nasty Gordon's food service food. Convenience of having little ones is why we ate here, would have been worth the drive elsewhere. Frozen pizza, powdered eggs, pre cooked rubber bacon and sausage. I'm gonna need a whole lotta probiotics after eating eating here. Yuck, yuck yuck. We actually ate at Lorelei's, but it was Oma's kitchen. We ordered brats, some sort of Franconian combo platter of schnitzel and chicken, watermelon gazpacho, beer and coffee. The brats were fine, but the schnitzel and chicken were disappointing. The schnitzel was over-cooked and had an odd tasting sauce on it, and the chicken breast was small and also over-cooked. The watermelon gazpacho was too chunky and tasted weird, but the beer and coffee were good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The meal was not worth it. read more

Definitely NOT a German restaurant. While staying at the Bavarian Inn, we decided to try Oma's Restaurant. The staff is very nice and helpful. The food is not German. I ordered the Schnitzel, it was an over cooked, rewarded pork chop, with instant gravy over the top. It was serviced with Gordon Food Service/Sysco microwaved sides. I exchanged the Schnitzel for a "German Bratwurst," and asked what kind it was. Currywurst? Weisswurst? They were unable to answer my question, and said they had never heard of them. When the bratwurst arrived it was a boiled johnsonville-like bratwurst, probably stadium style. Having been to Germany several times, I would never come back to this restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, who does not want warmed up convenience food. read more

Oma's is a great place to eat at if you want to stay close to your hotel room, yet don't want to necessarily trek all the way to the Bavarian inn. The food tasted exactly the same as what you would get at the Bavarian inn. Also, the prices are more reasonable compared to zhenders and the Bavarian inn restaurants. Definitely recommend read more
