We had the turkey Cobb salad and pound of steak bites and the Calamari. The food was mostly average. You wouldn't come here for the food you would only come for the beer and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Came on a Friday evening and this place was packed. It took 20 minutes to get a drink from the bar and a 50 minute wait for a table. The noise level was medium high but conversation could be had. There was live music playing here. The server took our drink order then disappeared for a while. The server was apologetic for taking so long to get our food order. From there every thing went smoothly. 1/2 orders are the way to go as there was plenty to eat, the whole order would end up as a carry out. The double clam chowder, fish, burnt ends, and brisket were all good. This is a Beatles themed restaurant and each Beatle had his own signature drink. I had the Paul, a tasty Hendricks gin based beverage that was very tasty. This place also floats on the Clinton River which enhances the experience. We saw their post earlier in the day where they asked for "help" to Kill the Kegs for the season. That seemed like a fun dinner out with tbt family. Service was amazing. Live music was ok (6/10.) I loved how crispy crunchy flavorful the Katsu chicken was on the sandwich however I was greatly Disappointed that the tonkatsu sauce was more like a ketchup compared to a sweet savory brown sauce which I love. The Mac and cheese wasn't on the menu anymore but they made me a side of it - which was accommodating and nice of them- the sauce on it is creamy and plenty which was amazing but the flavor is kinda bland like butter noodles with a hint of cheese. I still am not a fan of how they serve plastic wear utensils and plastic cups for drinks. The descriptions on their food menu sounded unique and wish I had more people to dine with because I wanted to try many more items. Something fun to do in Mt. Clemens! Came her on a Saturday night while in town, we recommended by a local to come check out the place. Octopus Beer Garden is a Beatles themed outside mostly Beer Garden/restaurant. We originally went for the beer and ended up having the best tasting food and a great time. You know your girl loves her a good craft beer and this place had some great stuff on tap. We ordered two IPAs that were great. To eat I had the Steak Tips that was served over bread with a great tasting BBQ sauce to dip. I also got the Kaylas Cucumber Salad that had cucumber, cilantro, onions, tomoto, it was yummy and fresh. My friend got the Mahi Tacos and he loved it as well. This place has all the vibes too. First off, it was a little chilly and were seated in front of the floating stage, yes the stage is on water. Anyways, they have heaters which warmed us up. Most of the seating is outside but the place is super cute decorated with fire pits in the outside area. That night they had a great DJ, spinning all types of music, I mean, he was really good, even played 80's Freestyle music. I heard in the day time, they have bands playing. The other guests were enjoying the food and music as much as we were, it was a vibe for sure. This is the place to be to have a good time and eat good too. read more

Finally made it to the east side hot spot. Larger party (6) on a Friday at 6:30. Hour wait as expected. There are bar areas to grab a drink and hang while you wait. Parking is easy and onsite. At first glance, it looks like several shipping containers with turf and docks connecting. It was hopping and now I know why it's so popular. Plenty of seating options all outside. It's dog friendly too. There is live music during the week and a dj on the weekends. All free. It was pretty loud on a Friday. You're on the river, but there are fans and it wasn't buggy at all. They have a tasty bar menu. Ordered fried mushrooms, pretzel bites, and sesame noodles. All very good. I was happily surprised to see the Untapped digital menu and a craft beer QR code. Almost 30 crafts on draft in addition to the domestics. Last but certainly not least is service. Emilieanne, our server, was so attentive, gracious, and kind. I would sit in her section any day. TLDR: The Octopus' Beer Garden is a lively place to stop by for a quick bite. Despite the prices being higher than average, the quality of the food made up for it. Our server was attentive even though the place was packed for the afternoon. The Beatles themed restaurant is right by the waterfront, with a stage floating on top of the river for live musical performances. It seems there are performances almost every night as listed on the schedule right by the front door. I had stopped by to grab a snack during the afternoon. I ordered the fried calamari and the foccacia sandwiches. The calamari was fresh and lightly breaded yet still crispy, served with a more than tangy cocktail sauce. The capers added on top were a nice touch. The foccacia itself was fluffy, but the best part of the sandwich was the pesto that was clearly made in house. The garlic in the pesto had a nice bite to it. I only ordered and ate smaller meals, but I would love to go back and try their larger servings meant for a table. read more

Another great experience at OBG. Server Emili was excellent and even though she was really busy, she prioritized efficiently and was so cheerful and patient. We enjoyed the patio with beautiful weather & views, & live music. We ordered the seasoned fries to start. The portion is large and I enjoy the chipotle ketchup (reg for my Husband). My husband and I absolutely love this place! It is such a cool and unique spot. They have a lot of parking but it gets full fast. Their wait times can be longer than normal, but that's because it is a smaller restaurant. It is worth the wait. The food is good and the beer is too. It is so peaceful to sit on the water. It is really nice when it is warm outside. If you want to sit closer to the water, you may have to wait longer for an opening there. The waiters and waitresses are really nice too. We have never had an issue when coming here. I was hoping it would stay our little secret getaway but it is getting a lot more popular. read more

Really great atmosphere and service! The walleye was SO tasty at a reasonable price, I was very impressed and would 100% get it again. Perch was also good (I prefer Pat O'Brien's but that's just a breading preference). The live band was fun, but very loud if you're sitting on the back patio so just a warning if that's something that bothers you. Wow! We need more seasonal places like this. It actually made you feel like you were on vacation someplace. Parking is a little challenging, coming into the building probably could be cleaned up a little bit. Once you get inside, you forget about all of the stuff out front. A great bar that looks out onto the river, multi-leveled decks that have tables and umbrellas all over it and of course the entertainment right on the riverfront. The place isn't huge, it isn't too loud, and the food is good. Are we just was so nice, and patient explaining the menu to us. She made her suggestions and we ordered. This beer garden is a cool spot on the water to check out on a nice day. The decor is cute with everything Beetles themed. The service at this bar has been amazing every time very friendly and helpful staff. The beer menu is large with a variety of rotating taps. I would love to say the food is fantastic but the few times I've eaten any of the main dishes it's mediocre at best. I do appreciate that the restaurant used animal fat instead of seed oils for frying however if you're vegan or strict vegetarian this might not be the place for you. read more

Had the Mexican shrimp cocktail for an app. Korean, wings, and mahi tacos Shrimp was good but the lettuce on the bottom was not fresh, wings were very good and the tacos were not good small pieces of fish 1/2-3/4 inch pieces why? Such a cute little restaurant on the river and it looks like it would be a lot of fun at night as a bar but this place just did not hit for lunch during the day. I had a beer flight which is an awesome price at $8 but kind of a bummer that it is served in plastic cups. Definitely would taste better in glass. Their food i also thought was pretty cheap pricing which is great but you do get what you pay for! I wasn't particularly fond of my meal. I got the smoked turkey melt which was okay. Just kind of bland. The mac and cheese was not good. The noodles were undercooked and the sauce was so soupy. The Cheeto dust on top added nothing to it. Definitely needed some seasoning and flavor. A huge redeeming factor was the service! The waitress was literally so friendly and checked on us often. The coconut shrimp always my favorite- now looks like it came from Popeyes fryer. No panko breadcrumbs and barely any coconut, shrimp were way smaller than usual. Total disappointment. Rest of food (walleye, perch) mediocre, frozen fish. Icing on the cake: after listening to 15 minutes of overhead paging someone to move their car bc they blocked someone in- even threatening to go table to table to find owner, walked out to find our car and many others blocked by several cars starting a "third row". Went to manager and said they have 5 minutes before I call a tow truck. She told me to go ahead! Not the response I was looking for- she said maybe if I didn't "threaten"a tow truck. She proceeded to get on the intercom, announce to the restaurant the plate number along with "and THIS lady is NOT VERY PATIENT" in a manner and attitude that shocked myself and the people standing around the hostess stand. Been visiting Octopus Garden since it opened. Something must be off. My $11 drink was just ok. The fish tacos had me wondering if it was fish or chicken.. I couldn't tell. No flavor besides blackened spice (again, is it fish or chicken??) Waitstaff was attentive, thank goodness for that. The deck inside really needs a power wash or something, looks like years of dirt and grime especially near the bar area. Ugh! read more

OBG is a great spot to stop for a quick lunch or dinner with friends. The food and drinks are on point and the prices are very reasonable. It's a great spot to hang out for a bit and have some drinks with friends. They have plenty of waitresses and the service is pretty quick. One thing to note is on sunny days it can get quite hot in the sun on the dock. They have large umbrellas, but they don't cover the whole table and there is little breeze some days. But, don't let that deter you, get in a little early and grab a drink at the bar! Seating on the upper deck is nice too, plenty of room and they have a variety of lawn games. Great place! read more

Octopus' Beer Garden is the only restaurant I could think of that is basically entirely updoors. There is an interior portion, but it's all open air. Whether you simply want to enjoy the beautiful weather, or you are still anxious about being in an enclosed setting, this place has you covered. Oh, and the food is still amazing, and the prices are reasonable. You can still get sandwich here for $10, but know that you are only getting the sandwich for that. A side of crinkle cut fries is massive, though, and easily enough for two people to share. The pretzel bites are golfball-sized and light, not dense and doughy pellets like most pretzel bites. The sauces that come with it are nice, but you can get mustard if you like. Drinks are served in plastic cups, and you get plastic ware instead of steel cutlery, which may seem odd for a sit down restaurant of this caliber. But, think about it: you're drinking, and you're next to a river. A lot can go wrong. The spicy fried chicken sandwich is phenomenally good, although I keep ordering the Reuben whenever I come in, and I've never been disappointed. They don't have horseradish sauce, but the rest of the sandwich is so good that I don't miss it. Smoked brisket sliders are you in there definitely worth a try for $12. The brisket is flavorful, and they do pack a good amount between the slider buns. There's also a large picnic area, which is where we had my son's graduation party. There's a lot to like about this place, which is why we keep coming back. read more
