Been in the area , seen good reviews, had to check it out for myself. Brought my mom here for Mother's Day. The food was delicious, all the sushi freshly made . Ordered a beef teriyaki bento box. The portion are huge. Very filling and still had food to take home. This place was very cool and relaxing and gave a free glass of wine to my mom for Mother's Day. Had to try their bubble tea, had a honey dew bubble tea, it was ok. But the food was delicious and my mom enjoyed herself.

I can't rate it as a 5-stars sushi spot. Unfortunately, There were a few things that I didn't like. The Sashimi salad was honestly bad. I didn't like it at all. We ordered chef's appetizer (Hawaii island) which was very good actually, I asked the waiter to make it not spicy but it still was spicy for some reason. After we made the order, I saw on the menu that if you order 1 chef appetizer, you can get another one for free. So we asked a waiter if we can have that, she said yes, but she didn't say anything when we were making an order. We wouldn't get it if we didn't ask. All in all, the spot is fine if you know the promotions, don't mind spicy food and know what to order. Prices are reasonable. The service could be better.

Ordered for takeout for a Saturday afternoon at around 12:30. I wanted to try a different spot since our go-to in the area has been going downhill. They currently still don't have indoor dining (as of January 2024). We ordered a few of the 3 roll lunch specials, a salmon lover, and gyoza. Some of the basic rolls we had included a tuna roll, shrimp tempura, salmon skin, white tuna, california, and eel avocado. These kinds of Americanized sushi takeout places are usually hit or miss but this one was a hit! I was impressed with the rolls and the rice to fish ratio. It was just a thin layer of rice, and lots of filling, which is how it should be. I think I have found my new go-to!

Unfortunately had to trash it. The fish smelled expired and after tasting it. It had a slimy, pungent aftertaste that felt expired. It was gross. I trashed the whole thing and am annoyed I waisted money on this place.

Ordered from here multiple times I finally decided to write a review. I usually call to order. They have a special roll bogo that I always take advantage of. If you pay with cash they give a small discount. I ordered the magic salmon, samurai, and spicy shrimp roll. Samurai is a good mix of eel and salmon. Magic salmon is for the salmon lovers. There was a mix up one time and they corrected my order the next time without a problem. They usually arrive with the order in 30 mins. My go to local sushi spot in Brooklyn, especially if I want some special rolls.

We had the galaxy roll which was stuffed with mixed fish, avocado and a bit of rice rolled with tofu skin and doused in this mayo sauce- sorta mixed bag for us. Yes it's a lot of fish, great combo but really not fans of Mayoey sauciness. That and we ordered through DoorDash- where the menu specifically said under galaxy roll- BOGO. I mean for $19.95, it's not exactly absurd anyhow. When asked about it the proprietor just casually said "oh for DoorDash- that does not apply." Me: " but you hear me right? The menu for DoorDash specifically says BOGO." No answer and repeated his original statement. Ok.... Then. The sashimi platter was fresh particularly the silky salmon and tuna. The cuts were small and the variety predictable (YT, WT, and fluke or snapper that was just a bit fishy but to be expected). Their specialty rolls are the biggest selection I've seen and really interesting. But you have pay to play. We got a great first time DD promo, otherwise I'm not sure we'll play often.

This food isn't truthfully as good as I thought it would be. I thought I was getting more in my rolls and it was truly a build of anticipation just to eat ... Meh... For some reason the ginger even taste weird .. Or it's probably the soy sausage. Welp F*** it, Ima finish it, butttt not too sure if I'll buy it again. Thanks though :) Happy yelping!

Our family orders here at least three times a month. It's decent quality for price and has a wide variety of offerings on the menu. Only miss is that the consistency of fish freshness varies -not meaning it's bad, but sometimes they can be very cold and feel "over refrigerated"

One of the best local sushi restaurants in Sheepshead Bay ... and still my favorite. With the explosion of 50% off sushi restaurants in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood over the last decade, it's easy for some sushi restaurants to get left behind and for new ones to take over. However, Omiya has really stood the test of time and is still my go to local sushi restaurant after I first came here in 2011. Although the prices have increased since 2011, and not by much, not much else has. So what separates them from the rest? First, their sushi is just as fresh and delicious as it was when I first came here. I've eaten here well over 50 times and their quality is consistent every time. In addition, their rolls, especially their regular rolls, are HUGE compared to other local 50% sushi restaurants and they are distributed very evenly with rice and fish. It's the 1st thing I really noticed when I first started dining here. As for my favorite regular rolls over the years, they've included the spicy cook scallop and spicy yellowtail rolls, on top of the typical eel avocado, spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls. You can't go wrong with any of these. Second, their menu still offers the largest assortment of appetizers, regular rolls and special rolls I've seen anywhere. To be exact, they offer 28 different appetizers, and that's not to even mention the 31 chef's special appetizers, which are buy 1 get 1 free. They also list 53 different regular rolls at still just $3.00 per roll and 60 house special rolls. Yes, you read that right! And what's even better? Their house special rolls are also buy 1 get 1 free! I have never been to another sushi restaurant that offers buy 1 get 1 free special rolls and that's a major reason I love them. Besides the great sushi, the restaurant is evenly spaced and typically moderately busy inside, so noise is at a minimum. With the seemingly moderate business, some might be deterred to go to the busier restaurants, like Mitoushi or Chikirin on Sheepshead Bay, but don't let the lighter traffic fool you as a lot of customers seem to do takeout. Also, the service has always been excellent and the folks here are very friendly greeting customers as they come in and when they leave. As long as the quality and menu remain, I will definitely be coming back for years to come.

I have been coming here for around 3 years now and it's my local go to sushi spot. They have great service and the owners are there almost every night working hard. Pre Covid-19 I would usually dine in because they have a buy one get one chef appetizer special when you dine in. I would usually get the star wars salad (rock shrimp tempura with avocado and green sauce) with the salmon/tuna pizza. However, if you're ordering delivery/takeout they have a chef special where you can buy one special roll and get another one for free. Omiya is the only sushi place I know that has this special. The special makes ordering great sushi very affordable. Looking forward to them reopening indoor dining so I can get the appetizers again. The rolls in the picture are spicy dancing kani, dragon, and shrimp tempura roll.

Mystery substance on the underside of the ginger

I've ordered delivery from the other location for the sashimi platter before and never had any issues so I assume this is a one-off situation and give some grace.... but I took a couple of bites of the ginger and picked it up to move to another container and the underside/between the pieces of the ginger there was a thick sticky white substance that I wasn't sure if it was mold or some serious cross-contamination. I ended up throwing the whole meal out and had a stomach ache. Additionally, there was a bone in the salmon. And I usually like the fish from Omiya :/

Our recent neighborhood go to for sushi take out. We typically order the Salmon Lover (opting to pay extra to replace the salmon rolls with salmon avocado) and the Maki Combo (a choice of 3 rolls), each served with soup or salad. They also have a buy one get one free deal on their special rolls. So far, they have been pretty consistent with their food quality, on par with similar sushi restaurants in the area. The service is nice and efficient; they messed up our order once and remembered to give us credit on our next order. Would order from here again.

I love this spot! I used to order on UberEats like every week because it's so good and they NEVER got my order wrong. I love a place that doesn't forget the condiments-- it really goes a long way. I love sushi in general, but it's the service I receive from Omiya that keeps me coming back. I went in person for the first time last week and was instantly greeted by a friendly woman. She gave us time to decide what we wanted to order and answered any questions we had. I love the BOGO free sushi deal for the special rolls and the fact that they have a simpler cut roll menu also for those non-splurging days. They are incredibly fast with delivery (I am not from the neighborhood) and in person too! We had to wait a little while extra for the fried chicken wings that ended up tasting amazing. I didn't mind the wait of course, because who doesn't love freshly fried chicken? They come with a great sweet and savory sauce, but it is on the saltier side so I'd beware. The same friendly woman kept us updated with the wait times which I appreciated. When things get better, I'd definitely go back for a dine-in experience. I really enjoyed the sushi at this place. I was attracted to the prices at first so I'm glad that they didn't sacrifice the quality. I ordered 3 basic rolls and 2 special rolls because they were BOGO. Pretty tasty and sizable portions too. I just disliked that we had to wait so long for the food when we were one of the only customers in the restaurant. I guess the wait was worth it in the end though. read more

This is my go to sushi spot. Delivery is always quick and courteous. The food is amazing and the prices are even better. All their rolls are prepared very well and I've never had a bad experience. I've also visited the spot and inside is beautiful and looks like a good spot to sit and have a fun sushi night. These are typically my go to rolls but I've tried a good amount of their other rolls and they're just as good too. Spicy kani Cucumber avocado Tuna and avocado Spicy Dancing Kani x2 (which is a buy one get one free special roll) Their beef negimaki is also really good and their miso soup is very well done and cheap as well. read more

Update: Ordered there for the second time and it was definitely not as fresh as the first time. Wanted to love this place but not consistent. After I place the order I received a call from them asking if I knew what a hand roll was and if I still wanted it. I thought that was thoughtful and deserves a mention. I just finished the rolls and they were very fresh. Even the flavor of sesame seeds on the rolls itself popped out with flavor and I never experienced that with any sesame seeds on sushi rolls before. We will order again. Hopefully consistency stays the same. read more

I've previously ordered a few times from Omiya before. A few years ago, I ordered a large order for my birthday party. We found a piece of staple in the sushi. After that, I didn't order from them again. Today, I decided it's been awhile maybe things have changed, so I gave it a try. I ordered a fried cheesecake as well as their 3 roll specials. I found a piece of plastic wrap in my fried cheesecake. Unbelievable. Never again. read more

I'm rather disappointed (ironic, considering my previous review)...the quality of the food here has steadily declined over the last two years. I measure sushi by whether or not I actually *need* to dunk it in soy sauce, and Omiya's rolls have slowly been losing their fresh and unique taste. Also, please stop charging $4.25 for edamame, when I can get a whole bowl for a dollar at "expensive" Manhattan sushi bars. Kthx. (And prices are up to $3.00/roll instead of $2.50. Possibly offset by their "omg buy one soda get another one free" deal? Meh.) I don't know if it's a change in staff, or skimping on ingredients, but I'm actually going to start sampling other sushi places in the area again. Sorry Omiya, you've lost my monogamous neighborhood loyalty. read more

They have really fresh fish and good sushi here. I am in love with their spicy salmon roll and I always get at least one roll of that everyone I come here. It's just that good. They have buy one get one free for their appetizers and also for their special rolls. My family and I usually get the BOGO appetizer. There are a lot of choices to choose from. There's the salmon tuna cracker, it's salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi with avocado and their sauces over a wasabi flavored cracker. I always get that as well. There's also the spicy squid salad and some other good ones. Their sashimi are pretty big pieces, however the sushi rolls vary sometimes. Sometimes big pieces, and other times not too good looking and small. Their cut rolls are $3.00 each so it's a pretty good price. The service here is good, the waitresses fill our tea cups often and are friendly. Everyone says bye and thank you whenever we leave and walk out. No other place does that. This is what good customer service means. There are times when they have new desserts and give to us to try for free. Been here too many times to remember because it's near where I live. I will continue to eat here and get my craving for spicy salmon roll satisfied (which is all the time and they're the only one who does it right). read more

Lets say that the food is not bad,, even though the portions run a bit small. The prices are very fair to low, which until recently made it an acceptable take out place.. however, lately it seems like the staff feels like they Re doing you a favor by allowing you to parton them.. Placed an order at 5pm to be picked up at 6:30. At 6:50 I'm told that I have to wait another 30 min ot more because there's 8 more orders before me. When I asked the hostess, how come they accepted the reservation, she just shrugged me off. I hope this place improves soon, its a shame they degraded so low so fast. read more

Disgusting!!! I ordered from Dordash for a first time, and bknestly the worst smoked salmon sushi i ever gotten!!! The fish is frozen amd defrlat looked pale and not fresh!!! When i called to let manager know the unprofessional lady instead of apologizing telling me that's bow it should look! Never again!!! Waste of time and money! Garbage food!! read more

Hands-down, best (CHEAP) sushi EVER! Yea, I'm sure there are better places out there for sushi, but not at these prices. Buy 1 Get 1 Free specialty rolls, $1.50 sashimi (used to be $1), $2.50 regular rolls (used to be $2, damn you economy!)... you can't get any better than this for fresh sushi/sashimi. The workers there are really nice and are always refilling your water or tea. They recently started a point system (ie. every dollar spent = 1 or 2 points) and you can save up your points and get brand name stuff like a Gucci wallet or a Louis Vuitton purse. Anyway if you're in Brooklyn, eat here! If you're not in Brooklyn, it's worth the travel. I've eaten at a ton of sushi places and this is the one that's topped everything by far. read more

For the price you pay, you can't complain about the fat delicious rolls Omiya has to offer. First off, $3 regular rolls??? Second off, 2 for 1 prices on the special rolls?! And HAVE YOU TRIED the appetizers? The Omiya Salmon/Tuna & the Vampire Bowl are must gets!!!! I have been coming here for years & I still go back no matter what :) read more

Ordered a sushi platter for pickup... the girl on the phone told us to give her 35-45 minutes. Arrived at the restaurant and have now been waiting OVER AN HOUR. Why would you make me come at a certain time if you know you aren't able to fulfill the order? Mediocre sushi and wasted time at an upcharged rate. That's a hard pass for me. Last time I'll give them my business, that's for sure. read more

Always great sushi and great service. As a resident of the midwood/marine park area, we all know good food is hard to come by and certainly the diversity is very scarce. The sushi here is probably the best in terms of price and fish to rice ratio. The fish is fresh and you get plenty of it. They always have great deals going on. I would highly recommend it for take out or dine in. read more

This is my go-to sushi spot! I love their special roll deal (buy 1 get 1 free!) For takeout & eat in only! You get 2 special rolls for the price of one. Their sushi is always fresh and great sizes! I've never had any problems with the workers, or with the food! Everyone is always very polite and attentive. When it comes to regular orders, I usually get the spider roll, dancing spicy Kani rolls, bubble tea! I would honestly recommend trying everything ! I feel like you can't go wrong with them! read more

This place is gross... The second I walked into the restaurant, I was already not so thrilled.... They painted their walls mustard yellow? I'm not too sure which shade of yellow they used but I felt as if I was in a curry house rather than a Japanese restaurant. Since there was nothing near, and my mother and I were starving, I decided we might as well give it a try. No doubt, they had pretty fair prices: buy one get one free for special rolls. I ordered a BMW Roll ($19.95) and a Mega Million roll ($20.95). They were such a disappointment. First off, their BMW Roll was nothing like what they showed in the menu. Instead of white soy paper (or whatever they call it), they wrapped it with a yellow one. I'm not sure if they taste differently, but uhm... false advertisement alert? Aside from the weird smell, which probably came from either the soy paper or the honey mustard sauce, the roll tasted pretty alright. For the first couple pieces, the Mega Million roll tasted a lot better than the BMW. But it got a little sickening after a while -- mayo overload. Last but not least, LADIES, BEWARE! THE BATHROOM IS CREEPY! They can definitely use a little more work on the lighting and decor or whatnot. The bathroom is dim and eerie. I felt like someone was going to pop out of the corner, where they stored their extra paper towels and stuff. Not cool. read more

Nice and friendly staff. Our orders were received at a timely manner. I did have to ask for water 3 times until it came to our table. The sushi was fresh and tasted good. They charge an extra $1 per roll for brown rice. What I didn't like was that they charged me a dollar for sauce to dip in without tell me. read more

We've ordered from Omiya before during the Covid-19 pandemic and was definitely please about the taste and timely service. However this time my order was lacking in taste and freshness. The eel avocado was very fishy tasting and my salmon roll has no flavor. Maybe it's because we ordered on a Sunday and the fish isn't as fresh as it normally is but either way I can't say that I'll be ordering from them again. read more

I came here with the $25 gift certificate from restaurants.com. The only catch was you had to spend $35 and you could not get the buy one get one free special rolls. So I had the basic rolls which were pretty good. The service was pretty fast. The only down side is the coupon doesn't save you much if you have more than 2 people. You just save on tip and tax. read more

Fantastic! Great for the price point. Annoying to order on the phone though the girl was a little snarky and then I get there and they never even got my order, like sis, the attitude was for what? Never again! I ordered from this place a couple time, food is usually decent, not over priced and delivery under an hour. I called today to place a large order, was told to come pick up my order since they were very busy and delivery would take a while! Great, I appreciate the info. Placed the order, waited a good 30-40 mins before going to get my food. Called and told them I'm outside waiting and asked how much longer. Have come here a few times. Today I ordered 3 pieces of sashimi and 3 hand rolls for lunch special. The sashimi were huge pieces, too big to be enjoyable and just OK in terms of taste. The simple rolls fell apart and made it hard to pickup with chopsticks Overall there are so many other sushi options in the neighborhood I might try before coming back here. read more

Thicc rolls, great selection, great prices. This is my favorite budget sushi spot in Brooklyn. They offer two-for-one deals for special rolls (nobody else does this) and $3 regular rolls (huge selection, 53 types!). The appetizers are standard Brooklyn sushi fare. What I like about this place the most are the portion sizes. Omiya serves the biggest rolls with the most fish in relation to their competitors. The fish always tastes good and fresh, haven't had a bad experience yet in my 4 visits. The decor is nothing special, kind of basic and boring but this isn't the type of place you go to for nice decor. If you're hungry for sushi and want to leave with a full stomach AND full wallet, come here. The service is solid and the staff will remember you after several visits and will try to personalize your experience (usually by giving you the sauce you like or remembering what rolls you always get). read more

I used to go to Omiya very often years ago, but then the quality of the food got much worse. This past year I heard good things about it again so I decided to give it another shot. The restaurant definitely did improve. The fish is fresh and they have great deals. The appetizers are two for one and so are special rolls. The hand rolls are delicious as well. Service is okay. I called this place to place an order, it was 5:20 pm. The lady on the phone said that the sushi rice is not ready yet, and to call back in 35 mins, when it's ready! That was weird, I asked well can I place my order now so you can start making it when the rice is ready? She said no. I was like, okay! So I called in 40 mins, 6pm. She took my order, and said that they will call me when it's ready for a pick up, but its extremely busy, so it will be around 1.5hr! First of all, where all these orders come from, if the rice wasn't ready? So I call her back in an hour so check on my order, and she says that it's not ready yet, and I'm order 118, and they are making order 105 right now. And to come in 35 mins. Why didn't they take my order when the rice was making, so I can be higher on the list?! So I can in 45 mins to pick up the order, and it was 20 more mins still! Moreover, the lady is extremely rude. Never had such and unpleasant and weird experience ever before, and I order sushi from other places all the time! read more

The best sushi place and if I didn't live so far, I would come here every day! Love the deals of BOGO free on special rolls. They also have chef special in house deals, too! The rolls were well portioned and goodsizes. No skimping here!! Everything always tastes fresh and amazing. The sashimi is fresh and they're also pretty thick cut. Decided to give this place a shot. It is located in a neighborhood that is filled with an abundance of sushi spots. The sushi was very fresh and everything was delicious. They have buy one get one free special rolls as well as buy one house special appetizer and you receive one for free as well. That's a great deal. I only had online order and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I started out with seaweed salad and it tasted weird and I throw up. I called the online company for a refund and the rest of the order smelled weird so it all went in the trash. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

We also tried to branch out and ordered the short rib entree. For $21, it was shockingly small--definitely a single-person portion, not sharable. I added extra ikura to a salmon donburi bowl for $2, but it was barely a teaspoon's worth--just enough to say it was there. Oddly, the salmon slices in that bowl were thinner than the sashimi we had just eaten, and overall, it left me still hungry even after sharing a maki roll. Lastly, my husband ordered a green salad, which somehow took the entire meal service to arrive. When it finally came, it was just plain romaine, cucumbers, radish, and dressing. For a dinner that clocked in at over $150 (after tip), we definitely left underwhelmed. Service: 3/5 This part wasn't bad, just confusing. We were seated quickly, but the pacing of the meal was strange. However, I believe this situation could have been handled with greater compassion and understanding, given that the group consisted of individuals with disabilities who rely on packed lunches due to financial limitations. As someone who has consistently supported your establishment, I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and empathy shown. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my business or the individuals I support to your establishment. The food is really great. They offer nice promotions and I've been a loyal customer to them! They have BOGO appetizers and special rolls which leave me wanting to constantly try new things. The sushi bar always looks clean and fresh, as well as the whole restaurant. I have never seen garbage on the floor or tables, and the service is great. The waitresses make sure I'm not left thirsty, as they refill my tea every 10 minutes. I usually come at night where their phone is constantly ringing and the tables are full, but workers always make sure there are no problems in any of the tables. I disagree with the reviews on poor service here, since my family comes often and they are very picky but they have never complained. I definitely recommend the house special rolls. They're buy one get one free, so it leaves you room to mix and match. Also, I recommend their specials that are written on the whiteboard. The most recent ones I've tried were delicious. Sometime their sushi is amazing and sometime it make me fell like it was made by an amature. Th thing I that when you order you just don't know if you are about to get the fresh and delicious one or the one that make you wonder if this is the same place where you once had the best sushi you ever had. Based on the last time I was there, 2 stars would be enough. But when I think about all the delicious sushi I had there, they deserve a lot more. What the F happened to this place? Quality used to be good and consistent. As a previous reviewer said it went downhill. Will try to remember to attach a photo. The tuna seems reallly expired with random fat chunks sticking out. Rolls aren't fresh. BEWARE. Will be reporting them to the department of health. Never ordering again. read more

This place is great. Best Sushi in the 11229 area code! Fresh, delicious, and always delivers on time. Portions are also fair. Too many places give you less food now anytime you order lunch specials, these guys make it just right. Keep up the good work! read more
